I completely disagree with Spoony’s assessment of this game on almost every level (with the exception of Quistis). That being said, the review is still very entertaining :P.

BTW, Meteo(r) was the ultimate spell in FFIV and VII but not VI. The ultimate spell was vanish + X-Zone in that one.

So here’s my question: does this role-playing game involve any actual…role-playing? It just kinda seems to me like everything happens the exact same way regardless of your choices. I mean, I know this was before morality choices in games were a big thing, but I still don’t get the sense that you can in any way make your version of Squall unique from anyone else’s.

dude THIS is a JRPG you don’t have a choice, and what ever little choices a JRPG might give you they don’t matter worth a shit. unless you are playing a Hentai JRPG of some sort, then you have all the choices in the world on who to kill and who get have sex with and where to do it, or Persona, persona has a lot of choices that at first may play out the same no matter what but you will eventually start seeing differences. anyways most JRPG’s have very a linear story and very little “role-playing”, te only real choice you have in a JRPG is what equipment you want to use.
