The Spoony Experiment

FMV Hell – Microcosm

The Spoony One makes his triumphant return in this review of the worst, most boring game to ever blight the PC or the SegaCD: Microcosm. Take a Fantastic Voyage through FMV Hell and see if you can survive “the ultimate CD-ROM game.” But first, we need to take a look at the most grotesquely over-fluffed instruction manual ever written for a game. Keep a pen handy, or you’ll regret it…

I think I figured out the main problem with this game...

They spent more time on the manual than the actual game.
But the story and backstory in the manual is actually KINDA decent. The key-word being kinda.

Amazingly funny Spoony! You are the man

LOL, the comments card mails to cambridge. I am in that area quite a bit, and apparently it is right next to the T stop you get off to get there. Harmonix is 625 mass ave. Eat at the middle east restaurant, and play rockband, after you're done going to 675 with pitchforks and torches.

I don't think Psygnosis exist anymore. Bought by Sony or something.

Hey that's a good idea... Road trip to SCEA!

(Well, at least they did make Lemmings.)
  • Man if only gas wasn't so much....I'd join ya in the killing spree....hell I'd even pay for all the gas to get there...but I'd bring my AK-47u....gonna LIGHT THEM SUCKERS UP BWAHAHAHAHA!!!
  • Garth's Brownie Girl
Nice knife! But I've got a bigger one. :D
  • Solbadgreg
Thank God at least they made Colony Wars. A GOOD game series that needs to come back.

"Can you believe the fast and furious gameplay!?" *trickle of steam vents*

  • Shadowwolf
You finished The Stand yet? Its only been a year and some months since you did this review. But really though. Its a great book.
  • Octovaitor
    Warrior ritual seppuku?
Come on you can do better than that.
  • Count Draclecarde
Great review. I could have sworn I heard Army Of Darkness music in there, or something similar. This game looks horrible.
  • Benoc13
was that frank zappa threatening the doctor at the beginning?
  • lucek

Dude, the victim is a politician! The PRESIDENT! You can't blame the pilot for assuming his brain would bein his ass.
  • Straker
I dunno Spoony, i think I would RATHER get a colonoscopy while watching Inner Space than play this game...as a matter of fact i think I would actually enjoy it better. XP This game is almost as painful to play as that other one there, what was it...Omega Boost! Jeeze. That actually had decent music and shit but GAWD was that boring and that stupid computer bitch every time you got hit asking "Are you OK?" but only retarded sounding so it was more like "Ahh ooo oh-gay?" UGHHHH! fucking stupid frustrating game.
  • Ultimategamer
I just noticed (sorry if i sound dumb), but the music that plays at 0:53 is the Onnet town theme from Earthbound, i LOVE that game!
  • Mike
Yo Spoony, that Benchmade you got there, is it Nimravus? Can't see well on the video. Great review.
  • Alllex

You are going to get arrested for looking at the address and then pulling a knife acting like you are going to murder the people there.
  • Dylan
Actually, the song that plays when Spoony fails to write the password is called 'Adagio for Strings' by Samuel Barber.
  • I'm curious to know, what is the music that plays when he's narrating the story introduction from the booklet? He's used it the Warrior review as well when reading the first page.
  • IL
The music that plays when Spoony doesn't have time to write the password is "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel (?) Barber. It's also in Homeworld.
  • Tomhosnappy
Hay Spoony has a black and wight cat! You can tell when he is playing the piano.
  • Argh
Bashing Amiga music for no particular music. Bad choice.
