Fired

I got laid off from my job today. I absolutely hated every second of it, but it’s still hard to take. My folks are really disappointed in me, I’m feeling pretty dejected, and job prospects at the moment are bleak.

It pretty much caps off the most miserable year of my life. I can never remember a time when I was so consistently bored, stressed-out, and unhappy. Maybe some of you are cuing up the Linkin Park, and you’re probably justified, but despite my relative successes in other fronts, you’ve seen me at my lowest point. Don’t get me wrong, you guys were the bright points of the year. Making videos and entertaining you with them are the good times I’ll remember. I’ve been knocked down a lot over the past 12 months, and despite the fact I’ve taken a lot of time to keep pulling myself together, you’ve stuck with me. Thanks for that.

I’ve also met some great new people at That Guy With the Glasses, and we’ve left several YouTube milestones in the dust. Over 13,000 subscribers and climbing. I’m amazed.

I don’t know what the future holds for me. It’s pretty scary. I hated that damn job, but it represented stability at least. But now…I guess we’ll see.

oh your not the only one. i went without a job for 2 years, and man i cannot understate the ammount of utter dred and deppresion that i have gone through durring that time and to this day. its really sucks knowing that i am 24 living with my mom and probably making less that a fry cook. ive never lived through deppression this bad before, and at times it has gotten VERY VERY BAD. but in the face of all the crappiness that im living through now this site and your reviews make a world of diffrence. even the darkest clouds can be lifted with a smile or laugh. that makes all the diffrence, it might not seem like much but it really helps to be able to enjoy your humor.

Hey, man, don’t feel bad. I got laid off at the beginning of this year and have YET to find a job. Like the guy above said, your videos and your site have brought me hours of enjoyment that I know I’ll cherish. The depression is awful and almost unbearable at times, but getting through it is what makes us stronger. Stick in there, Spoony.

Even though those are old posts I’m reading, I fell sorry for that particular self at that point in your life.

So wait, we’re in an economic crisis, you’re job laid you off because of financial reasons, and your folks are disappointed in you….?…Why….?

I’m lucky to not have parents who would ever be like that.

I like how almost no one has commented on this, by the way. If this was posted today, this would be filled with a fuckload of comments, all kissing Spoony’s ass.

People want to show support for a man who just lost financial stability. That’s not really ass kissing. That’s something to be genuinely concerned about.

Now forgiving him for his constant overuse of Vlogs in place of actual scripted reviews, now THAT’S ass kissing.

You’re right. “Ass kissing” might have been the wrong phrase to use here. His fans have become a lot more caring (or they’re just a lot more, but still the same percentage of people who just want videos and people who are genuinely interested in HIM).
