What spells terror like a visit to your psychiatrist? Prepare yourself for a load of long, talky scenes that somehow makes the Senate scenes in the Star Wars prequels seem taut and suspenseful.

Ah well, maybe now we’ll finally figure out what’s wrong with Curtis.

It’s the same problem over here. Everything from the club is missing. The video anyway, the audio still plays like normal, but it’s just black from 15:05 to 24:10. Great video and commentary, but y’might wanna look into that!

(I can’t seem to find an email at which to contact you) After returning to work the day after bob’s death and going through your emails/documents, you find correspondence from Eddie Gein. You (spoony) comment on how he (Gein) wears clown make-up. This is not true. John Wayne Gacy was the part-time clown NOT Gein. Gacy was the psudo pedephile turned painter. Gein had a mother issue (among other issues) & was the basis for Psycho & Tx chainsaw murders…

The lady in the psyche ward who chews at her arm to make it bleed was in the first phantasmagoria. She was the poor mother of the retarded farmer guy and they both lived in the mansion’s garage. She dies in the first game but we dont see it. I was reading a review about phantasmagoria 2 on wikipedia and nobody mentions that she was in both games, the only reference to the first game they say is the main characters novel is in curtis craigs house when he looks on his bookshelf and reads them off the first time.

    Great lines:

    “What is love!” Hehehe!

“I’ve brought my Magic Cards, there’s a nice table here…”

“I just understand why people need to feel pain to have fun.”
“If that were true for me, this would be the greatest game in the world.”

“That’s why you should get circumcised!”

BTW… “I can’t break away!” what’s that a reference to? You’d think I’d know since I grew up in the eighties as well, but it’s not coming to me…

Mr Spoony, would you consider putting these videos together to make one long downloadable movie? I’d love to have this ‘Lets Play’ on my iPod to listen to, cause it makes me laugh so hard. But alas my poor laptop can’t handle the giant file size and whines like a bitch when I load it, and I’m not a techie so don’t know how to download/edit Blip videos. Would that be a lot to request?

One of the characters in the game, Curtis’ best friend Trevor, is openly gay, and it is later revealed Curtis harbors feelings for him, leading to a thwarted (and long foreshadowed) kiss between the two late in the game…..

“Did you hear that? That was the sound of a plot point dropping like a 500-pound bomb.”

Got to be one of the awesomest lines in this entire review. Maybe even second best. And since I like to riff on movies, books, and tv shows too, I know it’s one I’ll be using in future.

Ahh, and so ends the saga of the Dreaming Tree waiter’s valiant efforts to balance the restaurant’s accounts. If the above line is one of the best in the review, those account-balancing commentary were among the best sequences of the review, right on up there with the grand finale.

Ah, somebody already beat me to the Ed Gein/John Wayne Gacy observation. Ah, well, I probably shouldn't be looking for opportunities to flaunt my knowledge of serial killers, anyway. Makes the norms look at me funny…

On another note “I heard that, Curtis!” hasn't stopped being funny yet. Maybe after another hour.

You know, it's been bugging me since the first video, but I think I've finally got it – he looks like Kevin Costner crossed with Ed Helms.

You're wrong about one thing Spoony.

“I heard that Curtis!” NEVER gets old.

i think there was a doctor phil episode were the mother did dress him up as a girl

  • mrk1976

At the end of the video, where you have the Joey Fatone audio saying “Disco dance, disco dance, disco dance!,” you should superimpose it with the video of the three guys dancing outside the club.

I want to say this particular video is some of Spoony’s best work. I don’t care whatever anyone says- even Spoony himself!

What the hell…did Spoony just make a Canadian political reference? Steven Harper?? I’m impressed…

Okay, can someone explain to me why the hot blondes are madly in love with Curtis?

Is it his sparkling personality? Or the fact that he lives alone with a rat? I don’t remember Willard getting a lot of tail.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alexander-Mcemrys/1457343291 Alexander Mcemrys

The only thing left that could explain it would be his stunningly average looks and bland, repetitive wardrobe!

It’s because the writer for this was desperately trying to go for the surreal atmosphere of Jacob’s Ladder, and for a multitude of reasons the execution failed.

I’ve watched all of the Phantasmagoria 2 videos 2 or 3 times, and only now did I just get the water cooler joke :P.

  • AntoineCool

“I heard that, Curtis!” That joke just doesn’t get old. Every time I hear it, I spontaniously laugh for a minute. Spoony, you truly have a good sense of humour.

Hey Spoony, in answer to your question in the 17th minute: if it’s a person, it’s hanged. If it’s a hat or a coat or anything that isn’t a person (except talking about a certain part of the body), it’s hung

  • http://www.facebook.com/matt.hollard Matt Hollard

Gonna be the 1000th person who says this, but Spoony? Making a reference to Canadian politics? Whodathunk.

    That couch sounds really uncomfortable…

I like how even Crazy Curtis had to stare at the Random Dancers as they went prancing by with a “What the fuck…?” look on his face. I don’t think those guys were even supposed to be in the scene. They just came in dancing from nowhere and they just decided to leave the shot in for some reason. “Do you drink to deal with the ugly truth?” Who the hell asks questions like that?

By the way, I want to know why the computer flashes the word “hecatomb” at Curtis – what does an ancient Greek ritual sacrifice of 100 cattle to Athena have to do with anything?

I don’t know if anyone picked up on this yet but Therese’s accent is actually Icelandic. She seems to be trying to hide it somewhat but it just shines through.

I get scared EXTREMELY easily. When the box of Bob’s stuff started having blood drip from it, I out scared. I know I’m ashamed of myself. But the only reason why I could watch through it was Spoony’s singing. That’s the only reason.

Oh, Spoony, you have a lovely voice.

    • Anonymous

I’m the exact same way.  This game actually scared me- that’s how easily scared I am.  Spoony’s awesomeness made it bearable :)

    • Anonymous

The funny thing is, the game actually does succeed at times at creating a horrific atmosphere. It’s just everything else that sucks about it ends up shattering what few good moments it has, making you unable to enjoy them!

“Remember when the Umbrella Corporation nuked Raccoon City? I mean, how did they get away with that?”

They didn’t. Nuke it, that is. Or get away with anything. In the movies where they’re unbelievably powerful, yeah, but in the games not only was the city nuked by the military on presidential authority with no involvement from Umbrella that I’m aware of, but the company took full blame for the entire thing and was brought down not long after.

    Fiver, no!

After reading through all the comments, I can safely say that I am the first one to catch the Watership Down reference.  One of my favorite books.

Phantasmagoria (with commentary by Spoony): Best.  Ab workout.  Ever.

I think the counselling scene illustrates the reason Spoony shouldn’t take up psychiatry; he’s still the MAYUNN though ;)

  • Johnny Davlin

to answer your question spoony, a person is “hanged” during a lynching. in every other instance you’d use “hung” however.
