The Spoony Experiment

Hell’s Kitchen: The Game: The Review

by Spoony on January 25, 2009 · View Comments

Chef Gordon Ramsay pays an unexpected visit to the show to drag me into Hell’s Kitchen. Not the TV show, his crappy PC game. Whose cuisine will reign supreme?

(Final Fantasy 8 is next! I swear!)

That first time you bit the pepper was the funniest thing I have seen in years!! Oh God I just starting cracking up!! I tried it before with friends and all I could think about was when I was chocking and gagging on it too, thinking to myself, “I’m a fucking idiot!”
And when ‘bad wig’ Ramsey walks in on you playing with toys! You look shocked like you just got caught with your dick out.
This review had my literally gut laughing at times!!
God Damn I new you were funny but this was fucking hilarious!!!

HIlarious.
I actually find it really funny when you play with your toys.
I almost threw up from laughing so hard at the end after you bit the pepper. :)

Xelitus March 3, 2009 at 1:10 pm

While I enjoy watching Gordon Ramsey’s verbal abuse of people in Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares I have to agree with you Spoony… that game is FU*KING RUBBISH!

BTW another fine review.

Bobbeh March 3, 2009 at 10:40 pm

Everyone is getting so uptight about this. Considering the extremely limited nature of Hell’s Kitchen, I’d say Noah did a great job of filling in the gaps. He’s got a great sense of humor and there wasn’t a moment that I wasn’t as least smiling (personally I find his impromptu action figure theater thing to be priceless since I could see myself doing it just for the fuck of it).

On top of that, the whole pepper-eating thing was quite amusing and I have to say, I didn’t know whether to laugh or gawk in shock at his reaction to the pepper. Truly memorable. On top of that I can’t help but find myself impressed that he keeps digging up games I never hear of and telling people how bad they suck. It makes me thankful i never stumbled upon these godforsken games. :)

Marie March 4, 2009 at 12:41 pm

Praise you for bringing in Jonathan Papelbon! :D
loved it.

Pandaman March 4, 2009 at 2:06 pm

I honestly think that the toys section in this video was possibly one of the funniest things I’ve seen you do in a review, and your reaction to the pepper was hilarious! You take a perfect bite out of it, with an accompanying biting sound effect too!

And I was crying with laughter and the end of the video where you were trying so hard not to throw up.
I love you and your videos.

Danny March 5, 2009 at 7:11 pm

The game’s not really bad or anything, but 20 dollars is WAY too much for it.

I love peppers.

perochial-joe March 14, 2009 at 12:28 pm

I love the toy sections in these reviews, they’re definatly unique and are always good for a few laughs. Though, I think that the best part of the video was the result of biting into that pepper. I’m actually very glad that those two parts were included, it made the video longer and prevented us from having to watch an assload of that horrible game.

Sarkis Samuel March 20, 2009 at 8:48 pm

you rule, Noah. Keep it up. I’m sure someone out there will see all the hard work you put into your videos and give you a TV show someday soon.

Will March 20, 2009 at 9:09 pm

WTF? You can’t handle a yellow bell pepper? That’s like a zero on the Scoville scale! They’re not hot at all and they’re just plain tasty.

bri March 21, 2009 at 8:07 pm

this was funny i mean the but hes gonna be mean then the haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw cuz of the lord lolz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Malefiz March 29, 2009 at 5:30 am

BLAUHG

Blane April 5, 2009 at 10:53 pm

I was with you until you started playing with the action figures.

Bobbeh April 6, 2009 at 12:40 pm

Hah. There is no spoon… :)

Mikey April 7, 2009 at 11:43 am

I think my favorite thing was when you gave the nod to the pepper before you took a bite. It’s like you were saying, “Yeah, this probably won’t be too bad.” How I feel so very bad for you afterwards. I’ve eaten some spicy things before, but never taken a bite out of a pepper. For that, I applaud you.

Walter April 17, 2009 at 3:05 pm

Mikey – I certainly couldn’t stomach it, but bell peppers aren’t actually hot/spicy – I find them to be more bitter than anything else – which is still unpleasant eaten like that!

The Iron Chef references were genius – and Spoony is so right about the US iteration! The Gordon Ramsay, however…

herkules April 17, 2009 at 4:09 pm

Wasen’t that just a paprika?

durge April 18, 2009 at 2:01 pm

Patrick April 24, 2009 at 12:09 pm

You’re gonna have to drink it through a straw because, sadly, there is no spoon!

Brilliant!

Bennyv April 25, 2009 at 1:56 pm

YOU PIG, YOU FRENCH PIG! lmfao

Qu3becker May 5, 2009 at 6:34 pm

I’m waiting that a contestant punch Ramsay in the face. I could not bear anyone the shout me in the face like that.

Julian May 6, 2009 at 1:52 pm

My friend ate an ENTIRE pepper like that just for $5.

robisalive May 6, 2009 at 3:52 pm

damn spoony. you got nards taking a bite from a pepper like that. especially for our entertainment ><

Alex May 11, 2009 at 5:59 am

It’s a bell pepper you retards.

Zak May 14, 2009 at 5:17 am

Hey spoony can you do a movie review on Dragonball Evolution?

aguybehindapc May 14, 2009 at 5:56 am

hmmm…

I wonder what CG Ramsay says at about 5:14, cus then if u listen carfully u can hear that beep, that the use to mask up fuck etc.

Zangamarth May 16, 2009 at 12:28 pm

Hey, the American Iron Chef is pretty good, when Mario or Cat Cora is good. As is Masaharu Morimoto, the Flay or Symon not so much.

Ink May 16, 2009 at 3:42 pm

You’re right— Iron Chef (english version) is bad…Iron Chef (jp) = good.
and heck yes- Ramsey looked so creepy in the game >__>

Simon May 21, 2009 at 2:15 am

Man, you guys are wusses :P

I can eat bell peppers no problem…

Elihn May 23, 2009 at 5:45 am

Since I don’t watch TV I don’t know if there are cooking shows like this here. This Ramsay guy seems to be a horrible person to shout at the people like this in his show. I wonder why people find that funny.

Jenx May 24, 2009 at 5:07 am

Because people in general like it when something bad happens to other people.

Someone May 25, 2009 at 9:05 am

in german this is called “schadenfreude” XD

TMOG May 25, 2009 at 5:04 pm

Is that Promethean I spot on your bookshelf?

Andrew Michael June 1, 2009 at 7:04 am

First of all, I fucking hate Gordron Ramsay. Well, no I don’t, I don’t know him, but I hate his celebrity status, the hype surrounding him, his phony tough-guy facade, the money he rakes in off all his fucking books, and his obviously forced and banal vulgarity. So it took a while for me too watch this, and I’m glad I did to see you take a bite out of a pepper. BTW you must do a review of the hideously difficult Jedi Outcast game sometime. I recently completed it in just a week of non-stop play, but when I was a kid it was skull-thumpingly hard.

Rattrap007 June 1, 2009 at 10:16 am

I just noticed your alarm clock in the back ground. I think I have the same exact one. Weird little thing to notice…

Lusk June 4, 2009 at 10:07 pm

You know, this game is just a very bad version of Diner Dash….

Atsuko June 5, 2009 at 10:56 pm

See, I think this was great. He rarely pulls out the dolls, and only when it’s totally appropriate to do so. I didnt skip through anything. Also, omg that pepper. I always loved when the chairman would take a bite out of the pepper in the beginning of Iron Chef (japanese). Poor Spoony <3 Peppers chopped up in a salad or a dish are different then when you take a huge bite out of a whole one. Love you Spoony, do whatever you want in your videos, the ones who appreciate your work will always support them ^_^

marik312 June 8, 2009 at 2:24 pm

i found that a good strategy is to prepare all of the ingredients that arent whenever you can

MaZa June 9, 2009 at 11:01 am

Another Finn fan, and I found this review very amusing especially because I also hate Ramsay and love Iron Chef. The doll thing was so hilarious parody!

But like other Finns here, I am seriously confused about the bell pepper thing. It seemed like it was burning your mouth or something, with eyes watery and all. Are there differenent species of big, yellow bell peppers (AKA paprika) that are hot? Some of the comments being shocked about eating one also indicate that. Because what we so commonly eat here is complete opposite of hot: its juicy, crunchy and fresh, very tasty stuff. Common stuff in salads, on top of breads and between hamburgers (though mostly red ones are used) And I believe thats the stuff what the guy in Iron Chef also bites, and it tastes great.

…or did you simply hate the taste that much that it made your face red and borderline puke? Never seen that reaction. Some people just dislike paprika cuz it gives them mild pyrosis. In any case, your reaction made my eyes watery from laughing. :D
