Awww. This is such awfulsad news. I met Andy at a convention in Tampa, Florida a few years ago. He was a really lovely, sweet person. I was sitting outside, having a cigarette, when he and his manager came out. The convention organizers had been selling more autograph and photo tickets than they should, which made the lines ridiculously long and unmanageable and yet they were trying to hurry everyone along so they could get more people through, faster, and make even more money than they already had. Andy’s manager was PO’ed, blaming James Marsters (who Andy shared a table/room with) for the slowness, because he likes to really talk to the fans, but Andy said that he was going to go back in and get back to work. That if people just wanted autographs, they could buy them on eBay, but allowing the fans to have a chance to meet him and have the whole experience of a con and meeting other fans was the most important thing. I already loved him thanks to his performance as Lorne on Angel, but after that moment outside the convention, I came away really admiring and respecting Andy Hallet as a person. He was a good guy and I’m so terribly sorry to hear that he’s gone. <3 Rest peacefully, Andy.

You live on forever brother.

Always sad when somebody young dies. Doubly sad when they turn out to be humble and cool as this guy seemed to be despite being rich and famous. My prayers to the family he left behind.

Very sad to hear of his passing. I know several fans of his performance as Lorne who will be deeply saddened as well.

DoubleForte March 30, 2009 at 8:29 pm

Sad that he only reached 33/34. Shame.

Resident01 March 30, 2009 at 9:27 pm

What a shame. Loved him on Angel. He’ll be missed.

I loved him on Angel and seeing as I own every season on dvd, and got them the day they each came out, this is very sad news to me. RIP

It’s very sad to see someone go so early in life. Angel was a good show and Andy did an excellent job playing the character of Lorne. I never met him but, from everything I’ve read, he was a great guy. I’m not religious but, if there are “Powers That Be,” may they look after him.

Damn! 33?! Poor bugger. Here’s hoping they let him off for portraying a demon when being judged to go one way or the next. :)

(Small world on the net too. I RP/used to RP with MGK!)

I finally found documentation of Andy Hallets’ passing. It’s sad that anybody had to endure what he went through: http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/03/andy-hallett-an.html

I just discovered Buffy and Angel a couple of weeks ago, and I was watching an episode of Angel and he was on screen when I saw this news on the other monitor. Very sad.

Spoony, have you tried any of the realtime strat games from PARADOX?

They are a sort of hybrid,pausable realtime,but VERY deep……….

Your mention of likeing the character driven aspects of Rome Total War brings to mind ‘Crusader Kings” which has a focus radically different from most real time strats in that its ALL about the characters….

Hearts of Iron II,BTW,might be the best realtime strat game ever made………………check em out,you might find yourself hooked =D

Oops……wrong thread =p

bethanythemartian March 31, 2009 at 4:19 pm

bummer, not the Host! Lorne was awesome!

Aw, poo.

Poor guy, that’s a rough way to go.

Xerosch April 1, 2009 at 7:52 am

That’s sad.

GameGeeks April 1, 2009 at 4:46 pm

Man I love Angel, though Buffy will always be better. I do miss both of those shows.

humanist April 6, 2009 at 4:30 pm

Aw, that’s pretty sad. 33 is way to early to go. As an entertainer and as a (apparently really great) person, he’ll be missed.

Au revior, Andy Hallett.

And to top it all of, the video was yanked from youtube because of a copyright claim!

A tribute to stand the test of time.

Wish the best to all who’ve been affected by his death.

Phred September 8, 2009 at 4:29 pm

Fucking Fox, first they cancel the goddamn show, then they pull a tribute video, Fuckers!
