This screams for DVD release. You know, with deleted scenes and maybe an alternative ending. And a gag reel. You’ve gotta have that as well :D Don’t know how much footage you guys actually shot, but I’m sure there are some great bloopers you could include on the disc :D

You spend so much time apologizing to us. You owe us nothing, you do not need to apologize. I thought the video was awesome, if a bit overdone, particularly with the Jesus fight. It is also apparent that these are not actors, and a lot of the dialogue was lacking, but considering what it is, it is very well done. All that is required to get all these people together and film a video is mind boggling.

I’m surprised that the universe didn’t explode with so much awesomeness in one room.

Great video and brilliant commentary as always, Spoony! Just wanted to make a point about the whole Neutro thing, though – surely the Donkey Kong Jesus is some kind of reference/in-joke to something, just as Neutro would have been, so wouldn’t it have worked just as well to have used Neutro? I only watch your and Linkara’s stuff (I started going on atop the fourth wall after you did the doctor insano stuff with him), so didn’t get the reference anyway (whilst i would have gotten a Neutro reference…)

Just a thought.

I didn’t notice how professionally the whole thing was filmed and cut – not to mention acted! – until I watched this commentary without hearing the original audio from the video. I think it seemed a lot more amateurish partly because of the (purposefully?) cheesy sound effects, but mostly because the audio’s not very high-quality. I’m not a native English speaker, and the speech kind of drowned into other noise every once in a while. I had a bit of trouble making out what people are saying, so some of the jokes were lost on me until I a few re-watches.

And I agree with all the comments here – you need not apologize, this was both informative and awesome, and bloopers / removed scenes would be WIN.

I’ll admit I wanted to see more spoony. Out of all the people on TGWTG I only watch doug’s stuff, Nostalgic Chick, and the spoony one. But really man I like you more than doug and I think your tied with the Nerd. No bullshit.

Spoony, it’s kinda touching that you were worried about us guys with the whole ‘physical altercation quarter truth’, but it was all for a good cause and a lot of us really do love this video. Personally I barely knew anyone on it but it’s nice to hear that you weren’t a million miles away from that situation either (and James even more so), so it’s been a bit of an inspiration to now find out about all these guys.

I actually really enjoyed the bit where you take pictures of the girls fighting with your cell phone. Your business with the cellphone was great too, it was like you never really cared that much and were just along for the ride.

Well, I can’t deny the video could have used more you, but on the whole I thought it was great. Crossovers are fun, and the whole thing was hilarious and competently done! Especially that bit at the beginning. Can’t get that “inadequate morning” refrain out of my head.

So in this commentary i started watching the background because i diddent watch it in the one without commentary and you told us some of the things happening back there and in one shot, cant remember who was fighting but you see in the background some lady just sitting watching the 2 fighting… she goes like “What the hell is this?” dunno who it was, but if you keep looking in the background you’ll probably see her sitting in a chair looking. it was about the half of the video this happend, if that helps

I didn’t like the beginning to be honest, but when the cameos start, it really picks up, yeah, I would had liked more Spoony, and even though I would be on the gamer’s team, you did what I have wanted to do since I saw my first LMG video, uppercut her right in the chin, dammit that woman depresses me so much. :-)

Whilst I understand that it would have been impossible and unfair for extra Spoony from the video, that doesn’t make me want a cameo from Insano and Giant Dizzy any less.

I don’t see why Rolfe shouldn’t know anyone else’s stuff – I don’t see him as any more of a celebrity than the rest of the cast, really, although I suppose it would be fair to say that he’s had a much more longer run, starting out in…what, 2004? But that shouldn’t give him any reason to not take at least a quick glance at the work of those he’s going to be filming with.

Really looking forward to the crossover stuff now, keep up the awesome work.

I didn’t really enjoy the “brawl” it just didn’t appeal to me although it may have done if it included more Spoony. The idea of a
pretend, choreographed script seems stupid to me.

Spoony awsome work as always. Man you had the entire site upset when we heard you were in an “altercation” and then no real updates for weeks. I don’t know about everyone else but I was ready to grab the pipes and the chains and go after the goons that battered Spoony. For what it was the video was entertaining but seeing all those different internet personalities seperate on their own sites, and then all together at once is pretty interesting to watch. I was just waiting for Spoony to pull out the GUNBLADE! now that would of knocked me out of my chair.It’s funny though but Spoony, Benzai, and Goggles seemed to be just like they are in thier videos.

I thought it was a great video, but that might also be because I recognized a lot of the people from thatguywiththeglasses.com. It was like “Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue,” except that it didn’t suck and didn’t try to brainwash me. I did like the Spoony moments the best. Looking forward to some cross-overs!

I always love your commentary and such so this was a fun treat! It really was spectacular that we were able to get together and shoot all this in a day… it almost seemed impossible about half way through… but somehow, somehow we made it through! I do agree… the boy’s pillow fight would have been nice to have kept. Maybe the take wasn’t good? We only did that once, right? Oh well… I’m absolutely sure somebody has it on film…. ;) So someday it will be seen, I’m sure.

But it would have been an interesting dynamic to have a guy show up with a gun–growling and snarling at the camera, teeth gnashing–and threaten to kill everyone before ranting for 30 minutes about the poor quality of their work. Awesome video, and you, good sir, win extra internets for the Dune quoting. I’ve always liked the books, so obviously, I’ll enjoy the extended cut of the film.

Alright! Not only do I get to watch one of the biggest crossovers on the net since I guess Angry Video Game Nerd vs Nostalgic Critic, but Spoony does a commentary! I do have a bit of a complaint though which is gonna sound funny since you just got through saying how much more we wanted to see you in this brawl. Actually to be honest I was surprised to see you there myself. I jumped when I saw AVGN because I really did not expect him since he’s technically his own person separate from TGWTG. Nostalgic Chick was predictable. Kyle was just awesome. But I gotta say I was really glad Spoony showed up. With a Shoryuken too!

Anyways the complaint I had believe it or not is that the commentary seemed a bit short or rushed. I guess it’s because since you kind of detail a few key points throughout the entire thing and just tons of unrelated things are happening. It’s like you had trouble just switching gears while you’re still in the middle of detailing something else. it’s probably just me. Other than Spoony I wish there could have been more period. I know I know. Time restraints. There’s always next year right? or few years. It’s probably insanely hard to get all those people all in one place. I guess those donations went somewhere.

I actually knew quite a few of those people. The cast was pretty satisfying. Other than the Nerd(oh crap now I’m calling him that ><;), Spoony, or Handsome Tom, I knew Lee from Still Gaming. Was glad he wasn’t in video wince that would have been just weird. Handsome Tom mostly from his work from Screwattack.com. Paw was there and his short monologue was just as awesome as Tom’s. The Epic Fail Guy, Kyle, Nostalgic Chick, and Super Mega Death Christ! Speaking of which, Super Mega Death Christ has got to be one of the greatest creations ever, to me. Just look at it! The voice is addicting too XD No offense to Nostalgia Critic but the Donkey Kong Jesus was not only cheesy… Cmon really? I really hope he just pulled that out of a hat or something.

I really enjoyed the video. When you watch enough reviews and Let’s Plays online, you start to view these people as sort of celebrities, but crossovers like this are a good reminder that they’re just normal people who are willing to go the extra mile for their fans and have a lot of fun.

In typical “rush to the finish before you see the track” fashion, I read some of the comments AFTER I posted the above comment. VICTORY!!!

You know, the only thing that could’ve made this fight better would’ve been if youtube’s OverTheGun could’ve been involved. I don’t know how many people know of him, but he’s funny as hell. Trouble is, he mostly only does Let’s Plays and doesn’t have much of a “character” to work with. Well, that and he’s completely unrelated to both parties and their websites.

I discovered AVGN first after typing in “bad game reviews” in youtube many years ago and was greeted with the Friday the 13th review.

I then later on discovered NC through the feud over the wizard (was really happy to discover this was eventually played for laughs.

I actually discovery Spoony though a posting on somethingawful.com forums (goooooonz4lyfe) about the FMV hell vids. I think we were talking about failed game concept and someone said something about the Make My Video stuff, and people didn’t believe that it actually existed.

I’ve seriously thought about doing some of my own video reviews, but really what can i review? Warhammer?

The AVGN and Spoony are the best. I never really got the Nostalgia Critic’s fame since he comes off as too obnoxious and “meh”. The Nerd has a timeless presence and Spoony is so goddamn lovable that he steals the scene.

The ironic thing for me is that I discovered Spoony on you tube when I was playing Final Fantasy 8 trying to beat it and getting so pissed off and frustrated at it that I knew I wasn’t alone. I typed in Final Fantasy 8 at youtube to see what other peoples thought about the game were, and then I found Spoony’s video. It made me laugh for hours. To see someone rip apart a game so old talking about the same things that pissed me off was just hilarious. Spoony is the man!

I’d be on the same boat as James there ~_^ In fact… if I were a reviewer that was popular enough to warrent an invite to this… I would proooobably have turned it down flat and avoided all calls/emails/etc for a few days before embarresedly confessing all that would happen is that I’d have mumbled a bit (and blushed horribly) and been generally useless to the whole thing. James seems to have taken it a lot better than I would have… just proves I’m thoroughly pathetic :P

Ah, I kinda wished there were more appearances of my favourites (Linkara, Benzaie, you, N-Chick). I loved how it turned out. Out of all the shit I’ve watched online, I think I’ve watched this more times than any other. Yeah, I get it wasn’t about you, but there was still a lack of Spoony. Even though not everyone was %100 about the final cut, it has a lot of charm because you can tell everyone is having a good time. Still totally awesome.

Not bad at all considering it was shot in a single day. Like you said, if you had more time it probably could have been better, but it was still incredibly fun to watch. I still think the dragon punch was awesome, that should be put on a t-shirt…you punching LMG and yelling “FWOOOH!”. I’d buy it.

James’ lion roar was one of my favorite parts, too.

I enjoyed that commentary a lot, gives us a little more behind the scene info, but from your personal perspective. I would love to see you do more commentaries over some of your past videos, not to put more work on you though ^_^. And yes, there most definitely needs to be a gag reel.

Yeah, the only thing I really missed was Insano. But I can explain that away with my theory that Spoony (The Character) turns into Insano when he gets angry. (I mean, They have the same shouty-screamy voice :D)

Really disappointing to hear that Doug (Nostalgia Critic) doesn’t actually watch the videos he “hosts” on his site.

Especially Linkara, and Spoony… those guys are genuinely better than most stuff on television. A lot of the other stuff is crap, but how can you not know about Linkara’s gun, or Dr Insano?

The video was fun, but generic seems about the right descriptor.

As for james behaviour, i guess its understandable, but even though i liked his reviews, you kinda confirmed
the impression i had on his personality. Somehow i now like him a bit less, some of his stuff always felt just…wooden,
i guess, especially compared to guys like you and doug, who just seem too radiate BRO-ness and humour no matter
what you do. I just know too many people who do this personality switch act in real life.

Man, this was a fantastic effort, and considering the time constraints and the desire to give everyone some play, I’m really impressed. You should (yeah, yeah, suggestions) pick a different city once a year to do something similar, and have it set so that on the last day after filming people could meet you in a public place. About the only part of this epic battle that I didn’t really care for was the Donkey Kong Jesus. It wasn’t really that bad, just meh. But overall it was hilarious, and even more impressive now considering you actually filmed the whole thing in one day.

That West Side Story bit would’ve been awesome, but I understand why Doug vetoed that one. Given the circumstances it just wouldn’t have worked.

Call me a liar, but when TGWTG recruited you and Lee, and hinted at something big coming, I expected a crossover. Not a giant real life battle though.

It’s awesome how you guys all met up. First I heard about AVGN through a friend. Then upon further research, found out about Lee through his DBZ: B3 review and you through your FFVII review.

Seeing all this throughout the year was awesome Spoony, keep up the great work!

I’m a huge fan of commentary tracks, and that was a great one. Thank you for taking the time and commenting – you might not have a large part in the video, but your behind-the-scenes knowledge is very much appreciated.

Dune Tennis was indeed fun. I feel like thirty reviewers and gamers cried out in vain and were suddenly silenced by our obscure ranting. I think the only reason I wasn’t thrown out the hotel window is because everybody realized the needed the cameraman.

If it makes you feel any better, Doug didn’t use the Street Fighter uppercut shot I wanted him to either. I spent like five takes trying to block you, Aussie, Benzai, Little Miss Gamer, Doug, Kyle, and the Nerd… and what happens? Doug picks the earlier shot where Little Miss Gamer is standing in front of Benzai and where you and Aussie drift too far apart. Le sigh.

Personally, I thought your phone routine was priceless, even if people didn’t get it.

I am also currently involved in a very spirited debate about the pillow fight. I wanted that in there BAD and told Doug he can and SHOULD make it happen. He disagrees for “timing reasons.” Right now I’m fighting hard to get that put into the next cut someday. Doug has dared me to figure out how to do it. He should know better than to dare me.

Most of your ideas I thought were great. As were everybody else’s. Sadly I only wish we had the time back then to do it. I tried to fight for the ones I could, but Doug shot me down most times (many times wisely, every now and then NOT).

Unfortunately, the Linkara scene is the only one that I’m 100% certain will never make it in, because it really doesn’t gel with the flow (despite being hilarious). But there’s always DELETED SCENES!

All in all, I had a great — albeit exhausting time — filming it. And that was mostly thanks to the hilarity of you guys. Your jokes and goodwill stopped me from beating Doug over over the head with the camera and strangling him with his own tie on multiple occassions. Not that I don’t like my brother, but he’ll tell you himself that we should never be trapped in a cramped, hot, sweaty place together for more than twelve hours. So good job!

I agree on the not so big on the Jesus battle there smeg. And, infact. I actually enjoy Noah’s commentary version of the brawl than the normal version. I don’t know what it is, but he just adds a nice insightful flare. And plus my sense of humor is really low.

Hey Noah, let me just take the time to say that i’ve been watching your reviews back when you started out on Youtube and let me just say i’m glad that you got accepted with TGWTG and into this film. This film is hilarious. It’s great that you had all that fun and that you got to be part of something that is without a doubt unique.
