I don't even know who this guy is.

Why do you dislike Dave for playing a role, you know, like an actor? Especially when he did a great job, i know that Bruce Lee would have been awesome too, but stop shitting on my childhood.
  • Jared
I'm not GLAD he's dead, but I AM glad that someone who made a career for the last 40 years pretending to be Chinese, despite not having ANY asian blood, and who ROBBED Bruce Lee of a starring role on a show that Bruce Lee created isn't able to do that anymore.

    Fardawg, good points.

I agree that this shouldn't change the way we see his career, but I'm more worried about his family.

However, running a yellow light is very different than practicing a dangerous sexual act. Continuously running RED lights for the thrill of it would be a more appropriate comparison, though that is even more stupid since you would be risking the life of others. It isn't as if it was a split second decision where he made a bad judgment call. He apparently did this habitually and had plenty of time to realize how dangerous it was and what it would do to his family, and his reputation, if he messed up. It apparently was a factor in the demise of his last marriage. I just wish he would have sought help for his addiction so he would still be here for his family.

I'm with Insomnia on this one. Today I ran a yellow light - an unnecessary and stupid life-risking behavior. Nothing bad happened but I regret doing it (as I could have safely stopped) and my kids would have suffered if anything bad had happened to me.
Carradine’s sex life is really none of our business. In the end, death finds us all; we really don't have a great deal of choice over how we'll look to the media when it happens.
YES, what he did was extremely dangerous (and STUPID!) and I pray if anything good comes of this, that anyone doing it will stop after hearing about him. But let's not hold our breath on that (no pun intended).
The reality is that it's none of our business.
  • I say that because a lot of people seem to be pretty disrespectful toward him because of his behavior leading up to his death. To me, none of that really changes the person he was seen as, and what he had done with his career. So, that is what I will remember him best for doing. Human life seems to be taken too much for granted. So when it is gone, it always deserves some form of respect.

"The way that he died really means nothing to me."

But it didn't have to happen. That's the saddest part. He risked losing his family and his newly jump started career just to get off. Hopefully this might wake some people up about stupid life-risking behavior. I agree, he will be missed. Especially by his kids.
  • The way that he died really means nothing to me. In my opinion, he was an under appreciated. Most people that I've talked to about him only knew him as Bill. And although that really was a great role for him, he did so much more in his career that he never really seemed to get any recognition for. Kung Fu will probably be what I'll remember him most for. That and his role as Frankenstein in Death Race 2000. Hell, I even watched some crappy made for TV movie he was in a few months back just because he was in it... and ended up liking it! People can say what they wish about his personal life. To me, he will be missed.

Yuck. I could have done without the media publishing details of his sex life. Too bizare to pass up, I guess.

The Death of Grasshopper has gone from Suicide to Murder to Accidental Death from Kinky Sex. Please let the truth not be stranger than fiction.
  • Fardawg
Sorry, I didn't see the previous posts about the asphyxia.
  • Fardawg
Looks now like he died of erotic asphyxia. What a waste of human life for cheep thrills.

I remember David in movies such as Kill Bill, Death Race 2000, The Misfit Brigade and many more.

R.I.P. David Carradine, you will be missed.
  • Dan
What a way to go, eh? He will be sorely missed.
  • Tomelin
"Still, that clip is rather awesome, that is really philosophical."

"Does the bird seeks to be admired by its song ?"
Sure does. How else will it attract the females ? Not everything that sounds philosophical is philosophy.
  • Cthulhu07
Rest in peace, David. You will be missed.
  • Assiman
never heard anything about this guy except for his name. Still, that clip is rather awesome, that is really philosophical.
  • Sjuge
Such a shame. What a way to go though; shrouded in mystery.
  • johnnyfog
Well, there goes the suicide theory. Damn, you'd think being a star would give you a degree of protection but I guess all tourists are 'fair game'.
  • Tomelin
Apparently getting hanged by your dong is lethal. Live and learn, guys...live and learn.
  • Max
Im actually close to tears. I didnt know before i saw it on this site.
I grew up seeing Kung Fu and i remember it having an actual impact on my thinking and my outlook on life.
Im also really glad spoony reacted the way he did, more proof that he is the great entertainer and generally great guy
    i believe him to be.

    Rest in Peace David.

This is idd really sad news.
He was a great actor and always found those amazing mad roles to play....

I think Spoony should do a compilation or something to honor him
  • Kalashnikov
I guess the bride finally got him in the end.
    This is sad, sad news.
  • Stevey B
    Goodnight, sweet prince.
  • Jack
I was shocked when I saw an article about his death.
And the first thing I thought was what was spoony's reaction
    and you actually reacted

Oh dear David, that's not the best way to be found is it?? Hanging by a cord that is also wrapped around your junk...not dignified in the least. Oh well, shouldn't judge really so long as he didn't hurt anyone else doing what he did, though there are some unpleasant rumours and quotes flying around.
  • Junker
There have been reports that he committed suicide, that's not entirely true, he DID hang himself, but, it wasn't intentional. Apparently, he was attempting auto-erotic asphyxiation. Seriously.
  • Altoman5
Man, I remember watching David on Kung Fu: The Legend Continues and it kicked ass. Hope he rests in peace. He was a great guy and will be remembered. Wished I had met him.
