@146> Perhaps he’s doing it because in some small way (or perhaps in a large way) some of these people brought happiness into people’s lives. Be it through the shear awesomeness of Smooth Criminal, a well placed joke, a sexy poster, or that sardonic smile you get at 3 in the morning listening to someone hock cleaning supplies; these people had an effect. A memorial is simply giving a little gratitude after the fact. When an icon dies, it can and does affect some people very personally. It doesn’t matter that you never met them, what matters is how their efforts affected your life. I, for one, wouldn’t be the person I am today without the album Thriller, and I’d be a poorer person for not having heard the comic stylings of Ed McMahon. So, there you are…that’s the point.

Lots of jackasses in these comments. I’m not really shocked, though. Sites like Spoony’s must attract them like flies.

MJ, Farrah, Billy and Ed… RIP

Doktor Sleepless June 30, 2009 at 3:19 am

Shouldn’t Spoony’s camera be on this list?

Let us pray in honor of these delicate souls and hope that they have lived a good long life

May God enjoy there presence as we have enjoyed them. May those such as Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays, Ed Mcmahon, and other wonderful people that has set our hearts at ease and pleasure, rest in peace knowing that they have been a better impact on us all when we are down trodden or when we are bored, but there departure should not be in vain nor should it not be look down upon as an insignificance but a saddening thing, yet a joyous happening beset onto us knowing that they are up in Paradise looking down on us smiling knowing that they have pleased us during their time.

Let that be true, In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Lol, why do so many people miss Billy? I mean McMahon, Fawcett, and Jackson were fucking legends and yet everyone misses poor Billy. Annoying mother fuckin’ Billy? With his oxyclean shit? What am I missing?

Ace June 30, 2009 at 7:28 pm

I knew about Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, and even Billy Mays, but Ed McMahon? Is this the week that everyone suddenly chose to die? It was David Carridine just two weeks ago. Who’s next?

Then I heard a friend-of-a-friend died recently by being torn in half when holding open an elevator. The sensor didn’t go off and the doors closed on him. ._.

Syron July 2, 2009 at 9:38 am

I rate Billy as the most sad to have seen gone on that list.. his voice forever silenced and his helping hand lent to less fortunate sales-pitchers(salesmen?) turned away :( …

Alexander July 2, 2009 at 3:19 pm

I had a moment of silence, as ironic as that is, for Billy Mays during my AP Physics BBQ.
