I knew about Michael and Farrah, but Billy Mays?
This just changes everything.
What about Ed Mcmahon?
Right you are, Nacho.
What ’bout Carradine? He died this month too.
Not Billy Mays! …
Quit telling him to update the list, it gets sadder every minute.
Sorry Vanessah, he’s pitching worthless shit at the top of his lungs in heaven now.
omg Billy Mays?
no more funny dubs of his Comercials?!
A lot of famous dead people this month.
I see no tragedy in death though. If the end of life was so tragic, so would be the beginning. The beginning of life marks the beginning of pain, and the end of life marks the end of pain. So, in my book, death is not tragic. It’s merely and end to pain.
Yes, I’m morbid. But it made accepting the death of my grandfather, my brother’s son and my great grandparents easier.
Ed McMahon? I liked that guy. Damn.
Michael Jackson… We’ll remember you for your music and not for your… Uhm… Sexual preferences.
Just what is going on? Has someone found a Death Note and written down a bunch of media figures?
David Carradine … sad, sad month … =(
I know it could never happen but…it has just got to be somebody with a Death Note! They want to become god of the New World…by killing celebrities. Crime Lord of California at least.
Seriously though it’s probably just coincidence.
Its Vince from Shamwow he has a death note!!! I wonder who he will kill next.
Kimarous, Too bad the motherfucker can’t spell Shia Labeouf.
I’M SADDEST MOST ABOUT BILLY MAYS
It seems like a bad coincidence, or someone’s killing off costumed superheroes.
Who are all these people ? Except M.J. i dont know any of them so-called “stars”. There are way too much of them in USia already, how do you keep track and remember the name of every nobody out there ?
What a horrible week….
You did NOT just call Billy Mays a nobody.
Heaven’s gate must have been quite an interesting place this past week.
Billy Mays was mostly popular for his commercials and became a internet meme, Farah Fawcett was in the original Charlies Angels show and i think in the Burning Bed, a lifetime movie, Ed McMahon was the announcer for the tonight show with Johnny Carson(I think that was the name, I’m not to sure thought)
Total celebrity death count in recent weeks: 5 (counting David Caradine.) My girlfriend has a theory that these things happen in 3s, so perhaps there’ll be another.
NOOOOOOO NOT BILLY MAYS!!!
I couldn’t give a **** about the others but why did he have to die?!!!!
R.I.P everyone, except Michael Jackson.
May them all be remember for the good thinks they did.
They touch us by music or in movies, but also made us laugh, cry and scream, but the most important made us think.
May those soul rest in peace.
I heard Billy Mays died today, I was like WHAT!?
RIP to everyone there. :(
just want to add that earlier this month, Japanese wrestling legend, Mistuharu Misawa also passed away, from taking a belly-to-back suplex, a move he has taken many times in his career which gave him spinal damage, he was considered one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time, who’s death was mentioned on WWE, TNN, and ESPN despite rarely wrestling in the United States
“Hi, Billy Mays here.” =(
Why, Billy, why.
RIP Billy Mays. I will forever be “on the ball.”
hey … c’mon … M.J. died you know … you could really drop the whole (UNPROVEN!) sex-offense thing! … you know … just let him R.i.P. … remember him for the music!
Also RIP to the Canadian actress Lorena Gale who died this past week – 1958-2009
It’s not 2012 yet, guys! Stop dying!
HI I’M BILLY MAYS AND I’M DEAD
I’m sorry…RIP Billy. May millions of people in heaven buy your worthless crap. You’re an angel now…a rather loud angel…but an angel nonetheless.
Great you’re mentioning other peeps who passed away recently. Because Michael is getting all the attention, but I believe Farah also deserves a lot of attention since she was a great, charitable person.
What a week. :( RIP liek woah.
Damn, I thought you were kidding about Billy Mays, but he really has passed. Geez, whatever happened to famous people only dying in threes?
Billy mays died promoting ironically his last product “Casket clean” “Getting that unpleasant stink out of your loved ones caskets, also good on wine stains and pet oders”
This is the worst week ever.
Billy Mays R.I.P
It’s a sad day for the internet
I knew about the top three, but Ed McMahon now? What a depressing few days to hear about deaths. Shame really, but they’ll still live on in memory!
What’s that, the fifth celebrity death this month? I forget exactly when Carradine passed.
It should’ve been YOU, Shamwow guy!
I can’t beilive that Billy Mays is gone
Billy Mays passed away this week? The guy who does the commericals such as Oxy Clean? What did he pass away from?
BILLY MAYS HERE FOR THE HANDY HALO
@ #39: Little too soon for that, no?
@#40: Worst week of the decade defiantly.
New OxyCorpse! Get that stink out of your recently deceased loved ones with OxyCorpse!
R.I.P. to everyone but Billy Mays, that bag of worthless douche. He doesn’t deserve to share the same planet with the others listed here. He’s not a celebrity, he’s a loud, obnoxious fool who sells crap.
Noooooo not Billy Mays :(
#48 Here is not the place to say things like that
infact he made more money then you do on the streets ok?
In memory of good ol’ Billy. I’ll forever be on the ball.
This is a conspiracy isn’t it?! Biblical sins? Envy(Billy Mays), Pride (MJ), Lust (Farrah), Greed(Ed). DEAR LORD HIDE OPRAH!!!! D:>
In all seriousness… it’s really sad… so many well known folks in such a short span of time…
@48: Get out. Leave. Go. Evict yourself.
I was a little meh about mj dying mainly because i didnt see why he was so popular, and was a little put off as I saw that fawcett dying from like a 20 year struggle with cancer a little more important than somebody i really didnt care for being killed from what they say was cardiac arrest brought on by some sort of drug abuse, but oh well. and billy mays’ death may be attributed to his airplane ride that he took yesterday, the tires blew and the luggage came loose and I believe he said that he was hit by some of it, that might have done him in :( i just saw a commercial of his yesterday
chuck norris will be next
So I should give a crap about him because he makes more money than me? Where’s the logic in that? Besides, this is the best place to state my opinion. In the comments section of a post related to him.
It’s called an “opinion”. You have your own, I have mine. Get over it. I would’ve been just fine if he had never existed at all. He had ZERO impact on the planet.
this has been a bad month for celeberties
It’s been a bad year for celeberties really…Just look how many in mems Spooney’s posted so far this year…
On a related note, where’s Clint Eastwood? We might have a mass Dead Pool conspiracy going on here…
I knew of everyone death except for Bill Mays, I was shocked! I had to search it to see of it was true. This has to be the worst week ever…
nice…but you forgot David Caradine….
Billy Mays dies and that whore smackin’ Shamwow guy still lives? INJUSTICE I SAY!
And all you dipshits whining about Spoony forgetting David Carradine, he already posted for him earlier in the month. So shut up!
He already mentioned Carradine in an earlier post. He just never mentioned these people.
this may be a bit on the morbid side, but who’s next? I’d like to know beforehand so it isn’t as much of a shock
Well, I’m betting someone like Christopher Lee, who is 87 years old, which makes him a year older than Ed McMahon. I love Christopher Lee, but he is old. He’s just as old as Abe Vigoda is, but we all know Abe is immortal.
@12, 14, and 15:
Yeah, some one got their hands on a Death Note.
Damnit, Vince Offer, I hate you.
You think it’s Yagami Light or Enma Ai behind all this?
Fuckin’ Billy Mays too? Shit.
Chuck Norris already died. Death is just too afraid to tell him.
(This post contains various mental ponderings and shit. If you don’t want to read it, skip this comment/ Warned you.)
You know, all these deaths sadden me, but May’s death really struck a chord with me and it took me a while to really figure out why, but I think it has to do with the nature of his departure.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked McMahon, Fawcett, and Jackson, but to an extent you could see their deaths coming. Fawcett had cancer, Jackson had a medicinal addiction and was clearly at the end of his life, and McMahon was in his 80s with various health problems, so they don’t really have the “WTF?” factpr pf a man who seemed fine. He was still doing interviews, and seemed to still have some life ahead of him. BAM! Dead.
It really says something about how life can be so fragile, and why one should never take the precious minutes we have for granted. You just never know when your last hours are going to be.
And shit like this always seems to happen to decent, well-meaning (if loud) people like Mays, and not fuckers like Shia Lebouf.
It’s official this month is going withstand the history of time. Not only we have a bunch of famous people passed away, but the Iranian revolution is an insane uproar. I even heard websites were shut down because too much people were so curious on all these events.
R.I.P. To all these guys.
First of all, R.I.P. to these four.
Second, I know that this is going to sound offensive, but when did Billy Mays die?
Apparently nobody heard about Dom DeLouise.
Honestly I’m, most upset about Billy Mays, he was just so lively and full of spirit. What a damn shame.
It seems that year 2009 is going to get really interesting.
Mays died today this morning.
just….wow…i hope it stops soon the king of pop, fara. the king of selling, and old ed, david eddings, david carridine…..i hope the deaths stop….i won’t be able to handle it if paul mccartney or ringo star go next *knocks on wood* i mean it’ll be hard enough if anybody else dies but i hope my two idols at least stay with us, bad enough john and george are gone just…ugh plz ppl stop dying?
Billy Mays? Seriously? what the fuck
Damn, Billy Mays was just on The Tonight Show this past week.
Bleh, all I can say is… What a week…
What a terrible month and possibly terrible year. RIP to all.
Worst week ever
Im saddest about Billy Mays, the other two were before my time and I never was really a big MJ fan (didnt mind his music)
Im sad they are all gone but Billy Mays, I actually thought he was awsome. *sigh*
what about David Carradine?
How many more people are going to keep asking about David Carradine? Spoony already gave him a memorial to him earlier.
What a crappy week
First MJ then Billy………
RIP to all
ugh…so much awesome peeps dying…
Man. Things just keep getting worse and worse.
This has been a terrible week… RIP to all
Once again, I love David Carradine and all, but… he got his own stupid ass killed. That’s all I’m gonna say about that.
wow. something is up with all these people dyin. was most mad about billy since i always thought he was a WAY better pitchman than vincent offer.
All four will be missed for various reasons, even if half of them were a little before my time. Biggest surprise there is Billy Mays.
Have you notice that all of their careers have been based on yelling or screaming?
Ed McMahon “Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere’s Johnny!”
Billy Mays “Oxyclean!!”
Michael Jackson “oooohhhh!!”
Farrah Fawcett her screaming…. hair
Michael Jackson knew how to shot web.
BILLY!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! ):
Oh my god.. So many heroes are gone. I’ll miss a few of them and try to remember who the others were, they were way before my time.
God dammit man. God dammit.
I mean, when I heard Ed McMahon die, I was saddened. Then I heard Michael Jackson died two days later and I was literally heartbroken. He was a legend and a king, and I always respected his music (even though he made some stupid personal choices). I listened to his music for most of the day. And during the middle of it I learned Farrah Fawcett died, and that just shocked me.
I woke up out of bed today and heard family members talking about Billy Mays, and when I told them who he was, they informed me of his death. I was shocked. Billy Mays was somebody who you just can’t replace man…it’s ridiculous
DAMN what a terrible week! One of my favorite singers gone and I didn’t really mind Billy Mays. I just saw one of his commericals today. I forget what he was advertising though. Also, Transformers is still climbing at the box office even though it doesn’t really deserve it. Are people really that stupid to believe that having explosions and robots fighting even though the movie has a bad plot, terrible dialouge, a ton of plotholes, and racist sterotypes qualifies as a good film. Michael Bay gave us shit such as Pearl Harbor and Armageddon and yet here we are giving him all of our money and all he has to do is show us mindless explosions and violence and people will eat right out his hands. It just makes me so mad and to see people think this qualifies as a good film. Angry Joe thought it was a good film and I have a lot of respect for him, but I just strongly disagree with him. Oh well, at least Public Enemies is coming out this week. Also, I just hope we don’t have any more famous celebrities die this year. 4 is definitely enough and all in one week no less.
June 2009 has been a depressing month so far with the deaths of these celebrities. Who’s next: James Earl Jones?
This really wasn’t a good week for celebrities.
4 celebs in such a short time
well 5 if you count caradine a couple weeks earlier
All are iconic in their own ways, Jackson most notably. It’s been a rough couple of weeks. These celebrities worked how for their fame and to inform and entertain us. Hell, I remember Star Search very well. It was American Idol long before American Idol and a lot of that had to do with Ed being so personable, unlike the smarmy douche in the seater that hosts AI. Give me Ed any day.
Spoony! You twitted earlier this week that it “best that you don’t comment on Michael Jackson’s death” or something to that effect. I figured you didn’t like the guy and took that comment as if you did say anything about him it wouldn’t be nice. Yet you acknowledge him here.
God fucking damn it
Oh my god damn it. Why do the awesome have to die?
“THOOM | June 28th, 2009 @ 9:27 pm
Spoony! You twitted earlier this week that it “best that you don’t comment on Michael Jackson’s death” or something to that effect. I figured you didn’t like the guy and took that comment as if you did say anything about him it wouldn’t be nice. Yet you acknowledge him here.”
Spoony never says anything positive. He’s a grumpy man and with these deaths its better he just remembers the artist and not talk about them.
Also, he technically didn’t say anything in this post, just put up a picture and how long MJ lived. He’s not actually commenting on him or anything.
Or more like Michael Jackson’s death was shrouded in secrecy, and who knows how he died. Like, remember the outpouring of sympathy for Chris Benoit? Yeah… that can backfire.
Billy Mays?!!??!?! oh, finaly, THANK GOD!!!!!!! i no longer have to hear his yelling in every damn ad ever again!!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!!
but i feel sorry for the other three (especialy jackson)though… yeah… *nods*
A sad week for pop culture to be sure.
Oh thank god, because I wasn’t getting enough of this EVERYWHERE ELSE.
“Welcome to the Spoony Experiment. It’s here to pop culture in the face.” huh? excuse me while I barf
Why am I reminded of ID4?
“They’re dropping like flies!”
“GET ‘EM OUTTA THERE!”
When Billy Mays learned about Michael, Farrah and Ed, He sat down and said, “But Wait, there’s more!”…
Sorry. Couldn’t resist. :)
I swear more celebrities have died in the past two weeks than they have in the past year (Gale Storm, a star from the 1950′s also died today). And more in the past Two years than they have in the last 10. Hopefully since Spoony is currently only internet famous, his life should not be in any danger. Right?
Rest in peace, celebs.
Also heard a conspiracy theory that these are all Iranian appointed assassinations to distract away from the protest and beatings still going on in that country. Granted this is of course ridiculous, but they body count is getting close to Demolition Man sewer level numbers.
Mr Jackson, Please Moonwalk On the Clouds.
So… touching… did’nt know americans had feelings like this, It has really changed my way of looking on america.
That was a unnecessary comment -.-
Ohh really? ^^
I’m not gonna argue whit you again, did’nt solve annything last time either
Come on plz it was so funny last time xD
@75 you’re right, Dom DeLuise did just die as well… I thought he died years ago.
Damn! Everone is dying… looked it up on wikipedia and found out that other people I knew of but didn’t know died in this year are: Dave Arneson (co-developed D&D), Ron Silver (actor time cop), Marilyn Chambers (behind the green door) and Beatrice Arthur (actress golden girls). And to think we are only halfway through the year
Now there is only one oldschool celebrity left….. And thats CHUCK NORRIS.
its gonna be a sad day when he dies.
Chuck Norris doesn’t die
^^ Pray Chuck Noris doesn’t die, for when he does, the elder things awaken.
all the great people we knowen and grew up with are now died, really MJ and billy death waqs the only ones who was surprising to die
I’m sad about MJ, he was the king of pop :((((((((((
Don’t forget David Eddings, the author, who died on the 2nd. :(
RIP David Eddings.
Well, death is one thing that always will come… eventually. And being sad ’bout it seems kinda pointless. So to pay a little respect I’ll enjoy their work now like I never did. Because they were AWESOME :]
’09 the year of the dead celebritys.
Why didn’t you mention David Carradine ?
…killerspieler, you need to get shot…
I must admit, that remark about Death Notes does give an uncomfortable laugh.
wait…billy mays died? but how will i ever be informed of amazing products like might putty or oxy clean!?
Explain me why, AMReese
@killerspieler: Spoony did a David Carradine memoriam a little while ago (if you click the “In Memoriam” link on the side bar, it’s the third post).
Sorry, I didn’t notice, the new button on the side bar ^^.
MJ was one of my icons….and Billy? he was the perfect example of the American Entrepreneur, from pitching at flea markets to multi network, multimillion dollar advertisements for major companies, i bet he’s greeting everyone “Hi! Billy Mays here, welcoming you to the afterlife!”
couldnt you have picked a better mj picture
Oh my, Billy Mays is dead? I didn’t knew about that. This is rather shocking. O_O
Sky Saxon died on the 25th as well
I’d imagine something happening like this after Billy’s death:
Albert: *fries things* Welcome home, mast… what happened to your robes? They’re so… clean.
Death: THERE WAS A RATHER LOUD FELLOW TODAY… HE WAS VERY PERSUASIVE.
Anyways, RIP to all of them.
HI BILLY MAYS HERE
looks very fishy.
Spoony, I have to wonder why you keep posting these “In Memoriam” posts. It seems strange of me for anybody to pretend that these people’s deaths are personally affecting. Sure, we all enjoyed Jackson’s Music, Mcmahon’s Antics (for lack of a better word), Mays’s Enthusiasm (again, lack of a better word), and Fawcett’s Assets (Am I clever now?), but it’s not like any of us really miss that they’re gone. Their families have to deal with this for the rest of their lives, we only “deal” with it for a few seconds. I don’t see the point.
These memorandum’s are useful. Thanks for the post Spoony.
Its a good thing to keep of with current news, including the trivial. I kind of liked Billy Mays, its a shame he died. What is odd is this whole sleugh a famous people dieng this week. Is their a conspiracy, or is it mere coincidence.
It is improper and impolite to say bad things about the dead. Allow for a period of time before you go back to even honest constructive critisism (or usually worse as the case usually is).
Their are standards that should be upheld.
Not to many weeks ago, Marilyn Chambers passed away to. What is interesting is many of these people are dying in their 50′s. That seems a bit young these days.
So many famous people died last weeks, and good ones too. Hopefully some real nutjobs will die this week to balance things out.
Damn, I loved Billy Mays. God DAMMIT! I’ll really miss you Billy.
Billy Mays is dead? Wow, suddenly I regret posting that parody last Saturday.
@146> Perhaps he’s doing it because in some small way (or perhaps in a large way) some of these people brought happiness into people’s lives. Be it through the shear awesomeness of Smooth Criminal, a well placed joke, a sexy poster, or that sardonic smile you get at 3 in the morning listening to someone hock cleaning supplies; these people had an effect. A memorial is simply giving a little gratitude after the fact. When an icon dies, it can and does affect some people very personally. It doesn’t matter that you never met them, what matters is how their efforts affected your life. I, for one, wouldn’t be the person I am today without the album Thriller, and I’d be a poorer person for not having heard the comic stylings of Ed McMahon. So, there you are…that’s the point.
Lots of jackasses in these comments. I’m not really shocked, though. Sites like Spoony’s must attract them like flies.
MJ, Farrah, Billy and Ed… RIP
Shouldn’t Spoony’s camera be on this list?
It’s not dead, it’s deaf.
I thing you are a little confused.
He’s yelling at angels now. D=
Let us pray in honor of these delicate souls and hope that they have lived a good long life
May God enjoy there presence as we have enjoyed them. May those such as Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays, Ed Mcmahon, and other wonderful people that has set our hearts at ease and pleasure, rest in peace knowing that they have been a better impact on us all when we are down trodden or when we are bored, but there departure should not be in vain nor should it not be look down upon as an insignificance but a saddening thing, yet a joyous happening beset onto us knowing that they are up in Paradise looking down on us smiling knowing that they have pleased us during their time.
Let that be true, In Jesus’s name, Amen.
Should we put David Caradine?
R.I.P Billy. :’( We will miss you, as well as Michael, Farrah and Ed.
i miss billy :( RIP
Lol, why do so many people miss Billy? I mean McMahon, Fawcett, and Jackson were fucking legends and yet everyone misses poor Billy. Annoying mother fuckin’ Billy? With his oxyclean shit? What am I missing?
I knew about Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, and even Billy Mays, but Ed McMahon? Is this the week that everyone suddenly chose to die? It was David Carridine just two weeks ago. Who’s next?
Then I heard a friend-of-a-friend died recently by being torn in half when holding open an elevator. The sensor didn’t go off and the doors closed on him. ._.
lets just hope billy joel dosnt die. when he goes the great old ones will awaken
Michael=yay Farrah=nnnnnnooooo Billy=all noo does this mean that all the camersals and the show pichmen will be gone hm better sooner then later Ed McMahon=um I feel bad but um ay fuck it I feel bad. o and I think Michael was trying to hard to out do Farrah Fawcett. I hope she likes her new wings. see you hell Michael oowwww!
Damn, that’s a lot of people. I liked Billy Mays =(
Two of my favorite people, Billy Mays and Michael Jackson die aged 50… That sucks, RIP both of you.
Damn I miss Billy!!! It makes me very very sad.
“Lol, why do so many people miss Billy?”
Because he was awesome. Call him annoying if you must but the guy made tons of money doing pitches.
Billy is dead fawcett dead michael dead ed dead if NC AVGN linkara and spoony are next i will suicide
Billy Mays, your awesome sales pitches will NEVER be forgotten.
Rip Billy Mays, i have to say i feel saddened by all of these deaths, but i will really miss Billy
I rate Billy as the most sad to have seen gone on that list.. his voice forever silenced and his helping hand lent to less fortunate sales-pitchers(salesmen?) turned away :( …
I had a moment of silence, as ironic as that is, for Billy Mays during my AP Physics BBQ.
Spoony’s camera RIP
Billy Mays was funny guys
Unfortunately we can now add Steve McNair to that list.
what about Dom Deluise, Pat Hingle Ricardo Motalban,Bob May,Socks The Cat,Paul Harvey,Natasha Richardson,Steve Dunn,Andy Hallett,Dave Arneson,Nick Adenhart,Bea Arthur, Mickey Carroll,Dom Dimaggio,David Carradine…
dont forget these and this isnt even a quater of the celebrity deaths this year
dont forget about one of the most influential people in modern American history Robert McNamara June 9, 1916 – July 6, 2009
Hey your pictures broke
