The Spoony Experiment

I AM INTERFACED!!!

by Spoony on July 10, 2009 · View Comments

The domain name changes appear to have propagated, so if you’re seeing this, you’re on the new server!

Major, MAJOR thanks to Mike Michaud, my webmistress Scarlett, and anyone else who had a hand in helping this transition go smoothly.

I’ve looked things over tenatively and they appear to be working properly. I say APPEAR, but there are undoubtedly some glitches. I’ve re-enabled the forum, but some data loss there was inevitable. If you created your account within the last week, you may have to re-register, and some posts in recent days may have been lost. If you spot any major errors, unusual behavior, or missing functionality, you can let me know at admin@spoonyexperiment.com

Right now we’re still using the “emergency” Wordpress template that Scarlett created to appease Dreamhost, so things aren’t in their final form yet. The written movie reviews are once again off the site because of this problem. I know it’s been more than a year since they’ve been working properly, but hopefully we’ll have a much faster way of converting them to a compatible format soon. The photo gallery is also down, I think.

Bear with us. Scarlett and I hope to be tweeking and fine-tuning the site’s appearance and functionality, and I’m still working feverishly on the new “epic review.” I probably won’t have it done by the end of the week like I hoped because of the server issues, but it’ll be done as soon as possible.

So far, so good, it looks like, huh? Best of luck from here forward, too.

Congrats all around everyone! Knew that it could be done because of SCIENCE! Dr. Insano probably caused all the server problems on Dreamhost because he wanted to get revenge on Spoony for saying anything bad about him. Time to call for help from Linkara and the Angry Joe Army!

I believe it was Garfield who said “Just when things look bleak, something goes right.” Never did those words seem more appropriate than right now.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to think of a way to properly thank all whose hard work allow the Experiment to continue…

KamenRiderGumo July 10, 2009 at 8:26 pm

Well, that’s one on me, I guess. I’d heard Spoony mention that someone was donating a server, so that’s what I was going by.

Sean July 10, 2009 at 8:30 pm

You know, I don’t mind this “emergency site” design. It’s a little bright though.

You need to buy that fine lady of yours some flowers or candy or a car or something.

i just have to say, i think our man spoony is too stressed about this “epic review”

i became a frequent viewer based on his commentary alone…what kind of special effects does he really need to keep his shit fresh? i’m not doubting the awesomeness of what he has planned, i just hope he doesn’t feel compelled to push his production values beyond a reasonable threshold…I mean, I watched like 5 hours of him simply talking over the most INANE game imaginable (PHANTASMAGORIA!!!!) and I enjoyed every minute.

personally, I don’t need to see an “epic” review (with special effects) that takes a couple months to produce. i’d be satisfied with spoony simply riffing on a shittacular game, as he’s done in the past.

not doubting what he’s got in the works, but to me that approach seems less stressful to produce, and i’m just trying to look out for my man spoony’s well-being.

PHANTASMAGORIA!! Glad to see everything is getting back to the way it should be. Best of luck, spoony bard.

That is great news, congratulations.

Rapowke July 11, 2009 at 1:02 am

“as soon as possible”? Your Epic review is about Duke Nukem?^^

Brian July 11, 2009 at 4:20 am

Very nice.

I look forward to seeing what videos you post next–and to seeing all the textual reviews again.

Gaspard July 11, 2009 at 5:01 am

The Spoony Experiment is alive ! Dr. Insano and Igor bring it back to life ! With SCIENCE ! And a lightning bolt.

@Rapowke : no, Duke Nukem is “When it’s done”. With “As soon as possible”, some hope is left.

Great news Spoony!
However, the English Nazi in me rises to the forfront.
Don’t you mean, “tweaking”?

Case July 12, 2009 at 1:56 pm

Looking good, Spoons.

BTW, pork delivery’s late.

S0AP117 July 19, 2009 at 2:51 pm

I’m just amazed to see how it almost all went wrong.
But You’ve bounced back and managed to keep the dream alive.
Congratulations.
