Ive noticed a huge change in you since you started out and im not quite sure if i prefer the old spoony or the new spoony, still love your vids…theres just something about the old way you used to do things and i cant put my finger on it…

julie July 20, 2009 at 5:02 pm: been watching you for years, from the very begining and im sad to see it end. awesome job and though i love playing this game, i also love to hear you rip it apart! when i saw the ending i did notice the screw up with the whole raine/julia thing as well, and you do encounter raine for quite a bit of time actually, the whole scene when your in winhill fighting “giant caterpillars” the chick in the pub with the little girl (ellone) is raine. the subplot that squall is laguna and her son is only hinted at but it is implied.

Also, as highly lauded as the Final Fantasy series is -especially since seven, all of the faults are usually overlooked. Thanks for the view on this game -and especially pointing out just how BAT SHIT CRAZY this plot is. I remember how much of a struggle it was to finish at the time, and How I never wanted to pick it up again afterward. This game was a total chore to finish. So thanks again showing us -I laughed out loud with every episode. I can’t blame you for ending this early, after all this really was as thorough as it needed to be. Besides, there was no need to drag it out and make this as pointless and boring as the game itself was to finish. So really, thanks so much. You’ve really made this entertaining, and a BLAST to watch! Keep up the great work, man!!

I actually found you by accident (I think it was hillarious text review of Dungeons and Dragons movie). And turned out you are one of very (I mean it) very few persons, who has real entertainer talent (maybe TGWTG main guy is eqvivalent). so you need some more advertising or something.

I’ve always loved criticism like this because I simply hate plot holes and randomness and things that are obviously unrelated and unimportant, or worse, unrelated yet crucial. I’ve always loved beautiful stories and complex plots. I realize alot of “stuff” I see today are horrible, just shit people pull out of their asses. They arn’t even trying anymore. But I noticed that YOU noticed alot more problems in Final Fantasy 8 than I did, and you hated 10. I personally liked 10 so I’m here to ask you to consider doing a video review of 10 to bash it so that I can see what I missed. Another thing I want to ask you is to look at the storylines of Fate/stay night and break that down as well because I found that story beautiful, (except for a few obvious problems… of course… >_>). I’m not demanding you to, I’m simply asking you to consider doing it if you have time. If you have any tips and warnings for someone aiming to be a novelist in the future. Please and thank you! Btw, your work is really funny. xD

PlasticLion November 21, 2009 at 2:28 am: Very upsetting. Having absorbed all the AVGN shows, I ended up here. FF8 being my favorite, I looked at that review first. It pissed me off. So I looked at spoony’s other reviews to see if they would piss me off too. They didn’t. They seemed reasonable. I like Spoony’s reviews, but he seemed so wrong about FF8. And this proved it. If you didn’t know who Raine was then you didn’t pay attention. She was OBVIOUS (in plain sight if you need a definition).
You really made me feel bad about myself, thank you. I really needed that. I hope you got the attention you wanted.
MST3K had an antagonist that wanted to rule the world. You can repeat that if you want. But if you want to do something original, get a washed up emo like me. I’d like to subject you to the things that you can’t overlook.
Mike December 18, 2009 at 3:20 pm: I’ve always liked FF8, but it has gotta be the most annoying FF I’ve played, with the spell drawing and ridiculous plot points. You really need to turn your brain off to play this otherwise you end up nitpicking everything.
Although I do like the game and characters, and have even considered it my favourite in the series, I find myself agreeing with everything you say in these videos, and since watching them you’ve become one of my favourite people to follow. Good luck for the future Spoony.

On an somewhat related note, FFIX shits all over this game, but X sucked VIII's teet and was a (very pretty) shit fest as well.

BTW, don't feel bad about crying with FFVI, I cried in Chrono Trigger when they use the time egg to bring Crono back and play that song while him and Marle sit under a tree and she hugs him. Just don't tell anyon……oh fuck.
Hendrikdb August 3, 2010 at 9:46 am: cmon final fantasy 8 is a good game it was the 90's lots of games didnt make sense. you could scrutumise every game about these stupid details, you just ignoren them and I have never really noticed them uptill now even though I played this game twice. for what ive seen uptill now there are still no good arguments to hate this game onjly little things like for excample the drill prison, the complexity of the junctioning system which you get used at pretty soon, the magic drawing which you can get by drawin from monsters or the thing you did not mention the draw points (are all over the game !) I had never had aany problems with collecting magic the rarest ofc. were the hardest to collect what is normal …
but I admit in the final part you were right in most of the plotholes but like I said you ignore it and enjoy the game and the story .. but I think you are still the only one hating the game so much. I have played many games and not many storylines are as good as this one (despite the minor faults) and really if you get used to the junction system it is really awsome bcs you can really try and find out the best way to set the best build for your guy.
but ill finish with no bad words they were really funny reviews which made me laugh many times bu final fantasy 8 will still be the best game I ever played

Looking back at all the things that happened and videos you've done this year we would have missed so many things if you had to quit. Fortunately for me, I can basically watch this site and TGWTG and a few other sites instead of actual TV most of the time plus, for some reason the writing is better and it seems more relevant to me out of nostalgia or sense of humor.
