I’ve actually seen this movie recently. It was on an online show called “Doc Mock’s Movie Mausoleum”. Sort of an improved MST3K style of show.

I’ve seen Predator more than any other movie (100+ times, literally), and by now I can quote it word for word, or storyboard it shot for shot, and I love picking up all the military errors in the film that allow the team of specalists their place in easily killable forces. For example finding out they have no reinforcements, and learning of their extraction plan just 2 minutes before they actually disembark, Dutch telling Billie they need to leave now with no traces as he throws a US issue jacket down on the ground, or a Major telling a 2 Star General what to do whilst blowing smoke in his face.

B.A.M takes it though; every scene they’re in, they’re packed like sardines. One tripwire, or grenade, or boy scout could wipe them out. They don’t believe in ammo conservation, a believable formation, using cover, noise discipline. They beachhead in the day, in a slow boat, and half the team has a support weapon.

I laughed hard at the A.I.D.S joke, the breast cancer one, and your careful editing when they gun down the human shield. Genius Spoony. Fuck Yor, you’re the man!

GREAT movie review, Spoony! Your movie reviews are just spot-on and Reb Brown is definitely a B-Movie action star worth venerating… like Mark Gregory! Funny you should bring up Bruno Mattei’s work; it’s funny because the Other Hell wasn’t all that sick a Nunsploitation film. It was just a bad horror movie with a good twist at the end.

I guess you can take that into consideration when trying to figure out just what the hell the robot is saying.

I have to strongly disagree with “Zachary Hoffman” sure having clips like that all the time may get a little overwhelming but I found them to be great during this review. I’m actually not a total uncritical Spoony fanboy, to be honest most of your stuff has seemed kind of hit & miss with me. I mention that only so you know where I’m coming from when I say that while your Clones Of Bruce Lee review showed some hints of greatness, this Robowar one was FRICKIN’ AWESOME!!!!!!!!! And I don’t mean Bruce Campbell really-cool-even-if-it-isn’t-actually-any-good awesome, I mean legitimately great, well written, flawlessly executed awesomeness.

Surprised to see such polarized opinions on this one, i thought it was a really well thought out piece; you can see alot of effort went into it. How people can make such a huge fuss out of about 60 seconds of non-Spoony moments really makes you have to wonder.

If even one or two of the lines were, in fact, ironic, then that interpretation would just fall flat: the fact that not a single one of the things could be described as ironic makes the whole song ironic in its own way, thus saving it from mediocrity and turning it into (unintended) ironic genius.

Of course, Alanis herself admits it was a malapropism, but hey, interpretations are all valid really. That said, Ed Byrne says all that needs to be said on the matter of “Ironic”:

I thought it was good but i felt it was not enough of a rant like your other videos. In the back of my head it just felt off. Your dialogue and jokes were a bit rushed as well as the joke cut scenes. I see that I am in the minority because i did not like it. But i just wanted to add that i think you should keep your reviews, rifts, and rants well diversified, dont do them all quite the same way. At Carnick: I liked that input, its more useful than what sounds like crazed fan talk in the comment section of the review. I liked most of this review (The Swat 4 reference was nice) but at other times it felt like it was trying to be the Nostaligia Critic, at other times your own dialogue sounded forced, and your minimalistic yet natural reviews like what you did with Indy 4 feel better as its you giving your own input without other peoples skits in the way and talking rather than trying to act, with this its like you’re being the Critics geek brother.

Hmmm, so higher production values, more streamlined scripting and editing along with a genuine drive to innovate + FREE = higher than usual levels of moantardation.

Go figure.

I think the robot(cyborg?) is saying “recieve”. Exactly why would he mumble to himself that he recieved the coordinates to “guy in front of self” is just as logic as the rest of this.

Ed Wood did make some pornographic movies later in life.

I really liked this one – it’s quite a change of pace, and I’m not sure if I wanted to see only reviews in this style, but as a one-off it’s great. I also like your versatility, you seem to be able to adapt to doing different styles quite quickly.

This is an absolutely splendid work. Ed Glazer team did an awesome job in their scenes as well. Loved it! Probably my favorite of your work except for The Thing, which is beyond hilarious. You make everybody on TGWTG look weak, who don’t happen to take it seriously at all, putting out weak, half-assed material… and yet somehow manage to gain a considerable amount of recognition, which they certainly don’t deserve. Keep it up, Spoonyone!

Its sad to say, but just watching this review makes me actually want to find a copy of this movie just to have something to laugh at. Thats one thing I love about really bad action movies. The actors might be dumb and say some pretty cheesy lines, but the whole thrill and awesomeness of everything just makes it great!

Did anyone else see the pretty kitty in the back ground when the great spoony was playing the piano? and yeah you can tell that that these guys are American cause they shoot in their fashion. ‘Fire enough bullets and hope to hit the target.’ as quoted by Alan Quatermain from the movie League of extroadinary gentlemen. One would think that by the second shooting scene already they’de be out of bullets… except Chuck Norris ofcourse.

Wow now that I think about it, this actually reminds me a little bit of Wachers 3 where they are in the jungle with Einstien and the lizard man from Castlevania! Its just the similarities of how bad both movies are! But then I thought all of the Watchers movies were horrible.

talking about the commetary here, yes I have seen a couple movies where people spit blood on the camera mostly 70 and 80 kung fu and samurai movies, as for the cover of strike commando with the 6 minnibarrel carbine yeah that is hillarious its also rather hard to tell where he’s holding it as well, its allmost Liefeldian in its “EXTREME” presentation.

What the FUCK! This movie not only ripped off the ENTIRE FUCKING MOVIE OF PREDATOR, it did so absolutely shamelessly! WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK WAS WRONG WITH THE DIRECTOR! They ripped off the scene where he jumped off the waterfall, complete with the exact same scream, they ripped off the scene with them storming into the village, along with the knife throwing scene complete with the stupid fucking “don’t move” bullshit, they ripped off the costumes, they ripped of the characters, they ripped off the bloody location, they ripped off saving that chick, they ripped off the fucking number of guys, they ripped off the explosions from the “robot” which that shot lasers that looked exactly the fucking same as predator, and they ripped off the indian guy stopping and going back for the “robot” when they were going to da choppa..ehem, I mean, uhh…boat. The only thing they didn’t fucking rip off was that Reb Brown didn’t go commando by himself and actually kill robot, the fucking robot just did it himself! I can’t believe how absolutely motherfucking painful it was to watch this movie rip off every last detail from predator! Fuck you, whoever directed this movie, you should be sued so much you , and your children, and your children’s children become fucking homeless!

Dude, Ormander, STFU! Both movies were made twenty years ago, there’s point in getting mad, if it’s that old no one can sue, and there is nothing you can really do about it, the movie’s already been made. Plus, it’s not a complete ripoff of Predator, Predator used alien Robowar used a Robot, and Reb Brown. But yeah, I was expecting a little more from a movie that claims to have a Robot war, and Reb Brown fighting a robot.
