“#17: I actually like it when there’s a story to the review. But everyone has their own personal preferences.”

Yah, that’s true. It’s really just my personal preference, most people might be on the other side of the spectrum in that regard.

Linkara September 11, 2009 at 12:07 pm

“great video!! um, i just have one question… what was linkara doing in a hotel room with spoony’s corpse before the black lantern power ring zombified him(spoony)? <:-P"

Notice how he kind of faded in as opposed to simply rising? ^_~

Jim September 11, 2009 at 12:16 pm

Linkara, you and teh Spoony one are incredible.

A guy from Spain September 11, 2009 at 12:32 pm

Maybe too much plot and very little reviewing.

David September 11, 2009 at 12:35 pm

@#52: There is no spoon…y corpse. Seriously. As you noticed, he fades in, so he comes from nowhere.
The only remains of Spoony where used to create the clone.

David September 11, 2009 at 12:41 pm

@Me: Oh I didn’t notice 52 was quoting someone else.

Scramlaz September 11, 2009 at 12:44 pm

So, wait. Black Lantern Spoony is original Spoony after being blown up, zombiefied, resurrected, and then rezombified? And the Spoony doing TSE is Clone Spoony? TGWTG continuity is become more convoluted that Battlestar Galactica.

Qalest September 11, 2009 at 12:53 pm

GREATEST MST3K REFERENCE, EVER!!!!!!

Joe September 11, 2009 at 1:55 pm

So, should the Spoony clone be named Noah Reilly now that the two are co-existing? (Real one and clone) ha-ha

Any way good job with the review.

I enjoyed it overall.

Will September 11, 2009 at 2:02 pm

These are okay once in a while to change it up, but I really, really prefer the un-diluted, un-interrupted stream of conscienceness that spoony usually delivers. The AVGN did some reviews like this, where there was heavy editing and story elements, but people were generally not a fan of those, hence there weren’t as many done in that format, imo. I mean, I either want to hear your review, or I want to see a story, not both. But parodying whatever you’re reviewing is different and always good. Still, I know you guys are having fun doing these collaborations, so keep it up… just hopefully not more than the solo, frustrated, diatribe ranting.. those are my favorite!

AngryEd September 11, 2009 at 2:02 pm

@57: and next week @ TGWTG, we learn that NC is a Cylon!

…wait

Well anyway I found this pretty funny and I actually like the silly yet deep plot stuff that brackets a lot of the AT4W reviews, almost like a “Tales of the Black Freighter”-esque story within a story. That’s probably not the best example but it’s the first one that comes to mind.

Xtian September 11, 2009 at 2:23 pm

“great video!! um, i just have one question… what was linkara doing in a hotel room with spoony’s corpse before the black lantern power ring zombified him(spoony)? > ohhhh.. i totally didnt notice that the first time :-) hehehe…

ty525 September 11, 2009 at 3:10 pm

i liked it but it did kinda look like this was just an excuse to make as many running jokes as physically possible by the end.

Sifer2 September 11, 2009 at 3:28 pm

Man are Spoony an Linkara neighbors or something cause they seem to do these collaborations pretty often.

Michael Hastings September 11, 2009 at 3:47 pm

wow… simply wow I find it hard to believe that anybody could dislike the story that came with this review. it was incredibly well written and acted. it’s amazing what you (spoony and linkara) guys can accomplish with just a modern everyday video camera. dont listen to the douchebags who didnt like the story i found it brilliantly executed. keep it up, your doing great!

Rain September 11, 2009 at 5:09 pm

You guys are so silly.

SonicRose September 11, 2009 at 6:08 pm

Dude, if Spoony has a clone there can be only one logical naming method… Spoony 1 and Spoony 2.

Thomas September 11, 2009 at 6:45 pm

I had Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin when it was released for the Genesis! Now, keep in mind this was before there were fully 3D games that let you swing around Manhattan as Spider-Man. I thought the game rocked simply because it was the best Spider-Man game I had played up to that point, and the first that really got the web swinging mechanic right. Of course, the only other SM game I had played was for the Atari 2600, so that isn’t saying much.

Mycroft September 11, 2009 at 6:50 pm

Okay, this story has potential. I’m curious to see where you guys take this.

Brian September 11, 2009 at 7:08 pm

Do Black Lanterns have the same powers as the Green Lanterns’ rings have? Cause it’s gonna be really hard to explain why Black Lantern Spoony isn’t blowing up buildings and crap with his power ring.

Marc September 11, 2009 at 8:22 pm

I love it! it’s like we have our own little comic book arc xD

DeathsHead419 September 11, 2009 at 8:30 pm

@Scramlaz

That’s impossible, BSG has one of the worst continuety’s I’ve tryed to make sense of. And that was just from the half of the show I saw. I must also agree with some of the above, more ranting please?

1337pete September 11, 2009 at 9:40 pm

I’m so sick of Terminator music.

diggerjohn111 September 11, 2009 at 11:09 pm

He tried to kill me with a forklift!!!!!! Looks to me like Spoony Clone has another arch-nemesis besides Dr. Insano.

HeartOfSorrow September 11, 2009 at 11:10 pm

You know it’s a wonder no one has started begging Noah to do a commentary track for this as well.

RaynerWolf September 12, 2009 at 4:22 am

I can’t believe you guys left out Whirlwind in the Avengers bit. He had the most epic laugh as well as dialogue.

“You will be the ones escaping!”

Lancell la September 12, 2009 at 5:22 am

Wait… A double sized bed, a hotel room, Linkara and Spoony went to the comic convention together… Oh my god!
Nah only kidding, but that would be a weird twist in Spooning with Spoony :)
I played the first game back in the day when I barley understood English and played ALOT of demos as internet was still under coconstruction, so it was a bit of a flashback.

TimADugan September 12, 2009 at 5:48 am

Great video :) And I love the story aspects, but in general Spoony and Linkara play off of each other so well.

Oyster September 12, 2009 at 6:10 am

You guys make me come buckets.

Jon September 12, 2009 at 7:15 am

Got to tell you spoon.. i use to enjoy watching your reviews.. cause they were…well… reviews of a sort. If i wanted to see the guy with the glasses, NC and all the others i would be on there sites checking them out.

Ryoku84 September 12, 2009 at 7:24 am

Same here, you’re kinda making me wonder why you have your own site.

Seiber September 12, 2009 at 8:42 am

Hey, more plot! Awesome!

Bluecho September 12, 2009 at 9:27 am

So wait…which Spoony was killed by the Linkara Terminator? Was it the Original Spoony that Linkara resurrected, or the clone Spoony? The last two scenes need a transition sequence, because one minute Spoony intends to kill his clone, and the next scene he just comes out of the bathroom like nothing happened. What the Crap?

Other than that, I really enjoy this development. So these videos actually have an overarching plot. Cool.

whiteandornerdy September 12, 2009 at 9:30 am

Regarding MechaLinkara’s plans: is this going to become some sort of build-up to the 2nd Aniversary video on TGWTG?

Here’s my idea: MechaLinkara is assembling an army in order to take over not only AT4W, but the whole TGWTG site. The project will also involve Dr. Insano, will be funded by Michael Bay, and is all conducted by Melvin, Brother of the Joker.

Stupid? Maybe. Insane? Probably. Awesome? Most Definitely!

Zeta September 12, 2009 at 1:42 pm

You failed to mention that the designers of Captain America and the Avengers were under the impression that the Vision is either a woman or the world’s most flamboyant homosexual robot.

HeartOfSorrow September 12, 2009 at 3:16 pm

@ 83 Bluecho “So wait…which Spoony was killed by the Linkara Terminator?”

It was the original Spoony, Bluecho. The Spoony-clone is still in Arizona. Also I wonder if Noah relizes that he can use this bit to give us the official story to Dr. Insano. The only question is which Spoony will become our favorite nutball scientist? The clone or the original?

Kitsune Sniper September 12, 2009 at 3:48 pm

LIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELD

Kitsune Sniper September 12, 2009 at 4:05 pm

Also, damn, Spoony. You should’ve reviewed the original Arcade version of Captain America and The Avengers! Now THAT’s a classic. The Genesis version is… passable.

But the SNES version.

People have died after playing it.

godofplague September 12, 2009 at 6:03 pm

Spoony just can’t get a break.

I liked the captain america game even if the arcade version was much better

godofplague September 12, 2009 at 6:26 pm

Vision could phase in the arcade game and Ironmans lasers were better thsn everyone elses range.

I think cap was the strongest upclose and hawk eye was th all arounder. None of this mattered in the snes version though

DeathsHead419 September 12, 2009 at 9:13 pm

@80

He has his own website cause most of the people on TGWTG are also fetured on/ have their own other websites. Digram that sentance! Anyway bad grammer aside, a considerable amount of Spoony’s content is still exclusive to TSE.

peachadelic September 12, 2009 at 10:02 pm

I nearly spit out my drink when Spoony said “Pictures of a guy in a forklift coming at you!? 50 Bucks!”

TheBugg September 12, 2009 at 11:20 pm

Gotta say, I’m a fan of the reviews that have their own plots. And this is definitely one of the best.

angelique_sp September 13, 2009 at 12:05 am

Ooooh….interesting plot twisties!
On a side note, HEY LINKARA!….
If you’re still in the Spoony- cloning business, I’d to place a standing order of 1 (one) Noah. Just tell me your price tag (plus shipping and handling) and I will cut you a check right this minute. (Just don’t forget to punch a few holes in his postal container.) Thank you from grateful customer….
Angelique ;^)

Emperor_Z September 13, 2009 at 10:29 am

But don’t phoenix downs kill zombies?

Ashenge September 13, 2009 at 7:18 pm

Linkara and Spoony is such a good pairing. I don’t see much like it online. Everybody’s always going for schtick and conflict with such duos. But these two just…hit the spot for me.

Douchy McNitpick September 14, 2009 at 11:28 am

HEY!!!

LINKARA GLANCED UP AT THE CAMERA NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO, SO HE CLEARLY DIDN’T KNOW WHEN HE SHOULD START TALKING!!! THAT’S SOOOOO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

pawcanada84 September 14, 2009 at 1:49 pm

@70/Brian: To be honest it’s not really been explained yet. I’ve seen some constructs getting made, but they’ve not been used for combat purposes yet. The few we’ve key Black Lanterns we’ve seen so far have either used weapons or their own powers (I have yet to read the latest BN Batman and GLC so I appreciate my knowledge is a little out of date).

I’ve got to be honest, when I saw the title I was expecting you two to talk about Blackest Night. The review was still a great idea and I liked what you did with the Black Lantern ring. Also loved the plot points and I can’t WAIT to see how it develops in Linkara and Spoony’s videos.

Hope you two can crossover again soon as I think your colabs are always the best.

The Amazing Spiderman versus the Kingpin was kind of awesome for the Sega CD. I really liked the anime cutscenes, and the CD music was good. Still it is basically the same gameplay as the Genesis version. I am not much of platform gamer, but I was able to beat the game. Plot is stupid, but its the first Spiderman game I played that actually felt like Spiderman (Starting on Atari 2600, and working our way up to some terrible NES games).

I found the Captain America and the Avengers game to be an uninspired beat-em up for Genesis. If you are going to beat up of waves of like colored enemies on the Genesis, the name of the game you should be playing is Golden Axe. If you prefer to use a gun, the name of the game is Gunstar Heroes (pure awesomeness in two player). Altered Beast gets points for coolness (POWER UP!), and Streets of Rage is runner up to Golden Axe for pure smashing face factor as a beat-em up and the twist. Then again, maybe you should bring out the Super NES for Final Fight and Batman Returns, or Turbo 16 for Splatterhouse, or even the NES for TMNT 2: The Arcade game. With so many beat-em up options, there is no reason to play a very uninspired beat-em up.

You should do some sort epic battle with the termilinkara and Doctor Insano saves the day that would be awesome.
