For the record, I actually love the Dark Maze stuff that was in the review. I mean there’s the actual movie itself, Spoony talking about it, and then Dark Maze with the play-by-play sarcasm. It really works for me.

Just an FYI, it’s not called a “clip”, it’s called a “magazine”.

Magazines and Clips aren’t interchangeable terms, they’re a completely distinct entity. Clips are small pieces of metal that hold bullets together (like you see in revolvers or M1 Garands), sometimes they have little grooves on them so you can load them into magazines (stripper clips).

Magazines are spring loaded, and feed rounds into a chamber.

The more you know.

I have to say, I really liked Davis’ acting in the scene with the non-briefing. And Glasser’s wife was just ridiculously cute in the giant strawberry costume.

Dont worry Spoony, I knew what Running Man was. I saw the last 20 min of it, thot it was kinda dumb, but I know what it is!

Fun to watch and I think you got most of the ideas done pretty well, except the blue shirt maybe, I didn’t notice the reference here, I think because the shirt your guy wore could be considere something you might actually wear.

It’s great how the commentary give you a reason to watch basically the same movie again… AND still entertain to the point where I don’t want to scream “GIVE ME MY 15 MINUTES BACK!” :)

You mentioned that you probably should have done Burton’s vision in blue color instead of red, but I think it suits him when he’s hostile and about to attack someone. Maybe when Burton is just hanging around and sitting in a corner his vision is blue.

Wow, this was actually unwatchable!
Despite how much I love behind the scenes features like these, Ed says “UH” every four words.
Seriously, it’s really distracting. I debating making a drinking game out of if, but I realized that my liver would give out after about five minutes in to this clip!

Ed’s a smart guy, and he has a lot of interesting things to say but his “uhs” actually ruined what otherwise would have been a fantastic addition to this site!

Thanks folks! And yeah, my tendency to say “um” a lot is why most of my on-camera stuff is generally rehearsed rather than completely off-the-cuff. This one was obviously the latter. ;-)

The thing about the clips/magazines debate is that popular usage pretty much supplanted magazines so usually what should be called a magazine is instead referred to as a clip. Although yes, magazine is the correct term.

Spoony, loved the sketches.

Since Ed’s commander was more realistic in uniform and performance, it makes you wonder how a studio (yes, low budget) can make a movie. Did they just say: “Hey everyone, were filming somewhere, just show up in whatever your wearing.” Goes to show what someone can do with a low budget and open mind, who cares about what their doing.

Hey Ed, just in case you see this comment and feel like commenting again, I have a couple of questions. I’ve been considering making a couple of videos for a good while now, but there’s two things really holding me back. Although ideas regularly come through my head and pretty much only need arranging and polishing, I lack experience in the field of making and editing videos; do you have any suggestions and pro-tips? I’m also not used to used to talking in front of a camera and will probably required a lot of takes and practice, but I do tend to go “uhm” pretty often, which was made way too obvious when I hosted a podcast some time ago; I understand that this video was made on the spot, but how do you usually break that habit in your other videos?

I am impressed at the quality that Mister Glaser managed to supply with so limited a budget and I loved that he included the SWAT reference of his own volition.

Whilst watching your commentary upon the video I noticed that the boat that they travel on in the beginning in the African Queen 2. I suppose that they couldn’t spring for Bogart and Hepburn.

Hope to see more from you and Dark Maze in the near future. Plus we need more SWAT 4 and Ripper!

The predaborg video was a ton of fun to shoot…although I think some of the cast’s favorite part was when the sorority girls kept jogging past us (perky gals, very bouncy personalities). But I think seeing the comments here is almost as good.

I’m just glad I got to add another notch in my “times I’ve died in a Dark Maze production” belt. Thanks Spoony! And tell Burton to behave, or no more cherry-flavored RAM chips.

It was fine as a spoof, but this is getting silly.

It’s hard to believe these guys are filmmakers when they can’t even do the simplest post production tasks correctly.
Ugly visual effects taken from ‘detonation films’ = bad production values.
Bad production values = no point for a “behind the scenes.”

I’m sorry, but get a hold of people who actually know what they’re doing next time you hire people for a sketch.
