honestly, the Black Freighter thing was the only part of The Watchmen I liked. I was more concerned with the conclusion of that story than with the main one
Pyro Jack
Number 1!!!
Uhhh errrrrrrr
One Piece!!!
As long as it isn't the 4Kids version and you can get used to the art style (Very different than most Manga) it's the most popular series in Japan right now!
preston
should have cheted and said prites of the black fraighter

What about European comics, like Barbe Rouge, or... um... the bits with the pirates in Asterix which poke fun of Barbe Rouge.

I'm going to have to make the obligatory One Piece recommendation here.
I am here
Isaac the Pirate. Does Corto Maltese count?

One Piece is one of those few stories where I admit that it's fully okay to skip way ahead in the story. It's like 500 chapters right now. It starts getting really epic at the Water 7/Ennies Lobby arc. I would recommend checking that out. It begins at chapter 322.

Ah - never mind. I figured it out. It's from the Pirates of the Caribbean OST

No - the music playing while the screen's on the "The end" isn't from Monkey island. Which one is it?

I'd say Redbeard but
1) It's a French comic (proper title is Barbe-Rouge, which means Redbeard)
2) It was never released in America; I downloaded issues from a defunct French comic site.
I don't understand French too well but, from what I've seen from the art, it seems pretty suspensful.
That's what's missing in the American comic market: variety. There need to be more pirate comics.
Although ive never read One Piece, I've heard its the number one selling manga in japan right now, so that has to count for something. I know people who read it religiously and I have seen the show, and its alright, nothing really special.

@Yoarastrophe Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.
Whoa.
Hold on there, skippy.
As long as I'm not seeing One Piece yaoi on the frontpage of DeviantArt, don't even speak Naruto in the same breath as One Piece. DO NOT.
Yoarastrophe
It does count, in my opinion.
Thank god you didn't mention One Piece, which in my opinion is just as much about pirates as Naruto is about ninjas. Thank god, and thank YOU.
Rain
You are a silly silly person.
FRIG!
Berserk has pirates in it. And ninjas. And demons. And zombies. And warlords. And an evil God. The list goes on and on. The main character pretty much fights everything imaginable that is awesome and kills it.
Morti
Monkey Island MUSIIIC!

What's that theme that's playing at the end? I've heard it almost everywhere, but I could never identify it
Okay, the last three sucked too but I do agree on One Piece, the animations cheaper than an episode of the old Speed Racer anime and the artists are lazy as there are typically moments when a character will use anothers face or somones head\feet will be the size of basballs or their neck will be a foot long, and the only character that can do these things logically is Luffy since he's Goku but with Reed Richards powers. Funi has a license to this property too so expect them to milk it like FMA and DBZ and expect that AMV that took so much effort to be taken down too.

I was REALLY not amused by this first part, seriously.
Polly and the Pirates by Ted Naifeh is a great Pirate comic and of course in Europe, especially France&Belgium there is a whole lot of good Pirate comics: -"Golden Century" by Andriveau -"Canoe Bay" by Oger -and of course the perfect: funny and sad "Cloak and Dagger" by Ayroles (titles are rough translations, don't think that there are english versions)
