A friend of mine just showed this to me about 10 hours ago. I loved it.

Usually electrosynth voices really make me avoid something (Clock crew anyone?), but in this video it was just perfect. I must say that even though it’s a bit silly, the video selections made for this are truly moving. The look of almost childish, fascinated wonder on Carl’s face and the poetic language used to describe, well, the UNIVERSE, really make this an emotionally powerful piece. Awesome video, Sagan was one of the best we had in the field and he had an incredible ability to teach these things. Awesome man and a tribute video that was really nice.

This was amusing, and quite a pretty song at that! Better yet, Carl Sagan is one of my idols (as an aspiring astronomer myself), and both his book and televised series of COSMOS are some of my favorites respectively.

i think this is an awsom video and a great tribute to Carl Segan who whas a great man. even if it’s old news, may he rest in peace=)

As an engineer working in fundamental research I mourn the lack of great characters in science today (and I find Hawkings a bit too populistic). The main reason for this is that instead of rewarding pioneering spirit and forwardness you have to struggle for your wage as a scientist, always apologizing that you’re doing things that others don’t understand what they’re good for, and that publications are more importent than solid research.

As an engineer working in fundamental research I mourn the lack of great characters in science today (and I find Hawkings a bit too populistic). The main reason for this is that instead of rewarding pioneering spirit and forwardness you have to struggle for your wage as a scientist, always apologizing that you’re doing things that others don’t understand what they’re good for, and that publications are more importent than solid research.

Pretty good….but I admit to liking it solely for the Sagan and Hawking stuff, and the subject matter. Musically, it’s pretty stale–vocoding over a pretty basic backbeat, which has been done a million times and a million times better.
