After seeing this and Bennett’s review of Dolemite I think that guy needs to consider changing what videos he does a little. The Dolemite review especially was probably the funniest part of the entire donation drive. I haven’t seen him do too much like that before. I mean I like his game reviews mostly because its so hard to find an honest reviewer now days that doesn’t go the comedic route but that guy NEEDS to do more funny reviews like his Dolemite one.

When I first heard/saw Angry Joe outside of his normal videos, I thought the same thing, “Wow, he seems like an awesome guy offscreen.” I personally can’t stand his videos, but it’s because of their format, rather than the man in front of the camera.

NC… when I first saw the Spooning 2 video, I wondered how he could keep that face lol. I tried doing it a similar face, it hurt like hell after only a few seconds.

Brilliant stuff. I wasn’t a fan of the other guys but after their work with the Charity Drive and this video I was way too impressed. It’s rare to see the “other side” of the people who work on videos and to see that they are a bunch of funny guys of camera who obviously have huge hearts is great. Congrats to all involved and a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and etc.

I rarely post comments (on either site) do to the fact that others have said what I have been thinking for the most part, but I feel compelled to after this (and the other video).

I absolutely loved this video. The first one was funny, but this, the way it all worked out (including the behind the scenes footage as shown) is quite possibly the best video of the year. Better then any of the Critic`s or AJ or Bennett`s vid`s (though I enjoy each of them) The only contender would have to be the Ask That Guy 44.

Spoony, you are hilarious, and while I do not always agree with what you say, you continue to put out high quality work and for that, I salute you.

I have t say Spoony, I really enjoy these blooper/commentary reels you do. I assume they’re done to get more bang for the buck (pun so, SO intended!) out of the footage you take, but they’re quite entertaining as well, especially when they involve NC. I will say I enjoy commentaries a lot more than bloopers just because I enjoy that “making of” behind the scenes look rather than the “screw ups are funny!” look. Still, great video!

I wanted to post a comment on your “Appeal for Manners” but the comments are closed, so I’m doing it here. Normally, I’d let my thoughts go, but on this issue I feel I have to say something.

I can honestly say that I have been asking for Spoony to speak on that issue since he started showing Sean Faust’s(sp?) videos, and the majority of the comments for his videos were about his weight. Then again when Spoony hosted a few of the Cinema Snob’s videos, and comments mainly revolved around one video in which his foot was showing, and how gross man-feet are.

People seem to lose all self-restraint when they get behind a keyboard. Its easy to insult those who put themselves out there for all the world to see, but these cowards that hide behind their keyboards show nothing of what their true selves are, unlike the brave entertainers on the internet today.

Spoony, I commend you for finally speaking out on this issue. It has been a bane on this community for too long, and I felt your silence on the matter was starting to hurt your image as well. The fact that other contributors don’t want their material posted here is enough to prove how bad this issue was. Hey man I just wanted to let you know that when you run a video game/entertainment site, its inevitable to attract haters, trolls and mouthbreathers. I used to have a Metal Gear Solid site when I was younger and it wasn’t even that popular but our forums were trolled all the goddamn time and people were sending me so much hate mail. I learned that you really can’t do anything about it and by acknowledging their existence it only encourages their behavior.

This made me laugh even harder than the video itself, because I just knew you all couldn’t have kept a straight face that easily. XD

Wow I’m amazed, really. Was that all the bloopers because if its was me i know for a FACT if i were spoony, joe, or NC in that i would not have been able to keep a straight face for more than 0.5 of a second XD, the vid was awesome and i hope to see more of spooning with spoony =].

That sounds really bad the more I read it, but I didn’t care for you until I saw this, then I went back and watched all of your stuff and now I’m a fan. First off, I’d like to say that I have immensely enjoyed *all* of the videos on this site, be they Spoony’s or someone else’s, and “Spooning With Spoony” is no exception. My girlfriend had no idea you even existed, but I showed her those two vids and I thought she’d die laughing. The bloopers for this one are pure comedy gold, man, and I hope you can post more bloopers as you continue to make videos.

Now…on to less pleasant topics.

Spoony, I normally post here under my pseudonym (KamenRiderGumo), but given what has gone on recently, I do believe that I shall use my real name from now on. Unlike the troglodytes who have to hide behind fake names to insult, demean and belittle people like you, I have nothing to hide and fear no reprisal for my words.

Why? Because, even if I’m upset while posting (like I am right now), I at least *try* to keep things civil. And I realize that your reviews are *opinion*-based, just like my own comments on movies, games, etc. Two or three semesters back, I had a college professor who flunked me from his course because I didn’t agree with him on the subject matter. Were it a mathematics class, I could understand that, but this was International Cinema, a course I have to take in order to get my internship in a year or two. The major part we disagreed on was whether or not they were *good* movies. I personally disliked all of them, whereas he grovels at the feet of the guys who made them. I wrote papers, essays and reviews in exactly the format he requested and with all of the data he asked for, but because he didn’t like what I said, he gave me an F in the class. (Of course, I took all of this to the dean and got the decision overturned, but that’s beside the point.) My opinions, not my skill, were being graded and it was totally unfair. The people ragging on you because you diss their favorite movie/game (or for any reason, really) are exactly like that professor. I couldn’t stand it when it happened to me and I certainly won’t stand it when it happens to someone who is, quite honestly, a hundred times funnier, more creative, better-looking and an all-around nicer guy then me.

I’ve had my own disagreements with you in the past, Spoony – Final Fantasy X/X-2 to Iron Eagle immediately pop to mind – but I’ve always seen that sort of thing as a topic for *discussion*, not for rampant hatred. Some might say it’s because I’m twenty-four and have already matured, but I never felt the urge to insult someone who disagreed with me. Maybe it was because Dad raised me on the Discovery Channel and C-Span and I grew up learning to (civilly) debate topics such as culture, science, politics and religion (which seem to spark the most controversy from what I’ve seen) and I’ve learned to adapt that to other topics. I dunno.

I have to agree with some other commentors on here that maybe you should require that people log in and register for your site in order to comment; that way your moderators can at least keep a better eye on them.

And believe me, I know what you’re going through.

I used to be a columnist on 411 Mania, under the Wrestling section (back when I was a fan of that now-loathed form of entertainment). When they first proposed it to the staff, I was vehemently against the idea of adding a comments section; I was the only one who proposed that we keep it the way it was and make it so that someone had to actually e-mail a columnist to give their two cents; the columnist could then simply weed out the trolls from their inbox, block the address and focus on the civilized people. Well, I was outvoted. I lasted MAYBE a month under the new system and I got so enraged with it that I just plain quit (being the first person to ever do so, might I add). I had to endure attacks on myself for my own opinions on the wrestling shows I watched and news items that the site ran, I was ridiculed for my picks in the monthly Round Robin articles where the staff would try to guess who was going to win….right down to the fact that my column didn’t follow a standard format like every other writer on the site. My shtick was that, every week, I would pick out what I felt were the worst matches, worst skits, or even worst show from the previous week and do basically what you do with a bad movie. (Most of my columns came out like your “Revenge of the Fallen” vlog, actually.) But because I didn’t like the most popular wrestlers, preferred the way things were done back in the 80s when it was actually FUN to watch and disliked the vulgarity, overly-sexual content and stupid, inane, bang-your-head-on-the-wall-to-try-and-forget-them storylines, I was constantly bombarded with hate from the comments board. I just got tired of it and quit. When I gave my quit notice, I was told that I was being “childish and immature” over the comments and to “grow a pair, man up and get over it”.

I would NOT blame Spoony one bit for calling it quits on everything and leaving the Internet to the haters and the trolls. I would be saddened by the loss of one of my favorite web shows and personalities, but it would probably be the best thing for *him*, and that’s the important thing. I don’t want Spoony to keep making videos if he no longer feels like it; I don’t want him to feel that he “has to” make more vids. Once a job becomes work, it stops being fun. And if Spoony’s not having fun, I’d feel as though I were part of torturing him every week.

Whatever you end up doing, Mr. Antwiler, do what’s best for you and Scarlett, not us. I salute you, sir, for what you’ve done before and, hopefully, what you’ll do in the future.

This is unrelated but I saw that the comment page had been closed but I have to express my gratitude for Spoony and the rest of the gang and their infinite efforts in bringing us entertainment for free. I am outraged and cannot believe that people out there will badmouth and insult you for your work. They are not forced to watch it and nobody is making them watch it so why do you people feel the need to come onto this website and give it a bad reputation. Its a disgrace that we live in this age and there are still idiots out there who have no sense of appropriateness and general manners.
