I'm not surprised you have a high tolerance for pain with all the bad movies and games you have to endure. Sorry to hear you'll have to undergo surgery this close to christmas and your birthday. I hope you'll get well soon.

    • Diggerjohn111

I hope the foot feels better soon. I’ve had work done on my foot, and all I can say is “ride the Vicodin” . Thanks for the awesome year of reviews and laughs. As for the movies. I agree with you especially about Avatar. I just don’t get all the raving, it wasn’t that good. I just would like to know what you thought about Star Trek. I personally loved it, and have watched it multiple times. I was like Angry Joe after seeing it, and bounced out of the theatre raving about it. But I can also see why people wouldn’t like it, messing with the timeline, etc. Anyway, to you, Ms. Scarlett, Miles and everyone else, Happy New Year.

  • miggins

Sorry to hear about your foot. I've seen that plenty of times since I work in an xray department. Hope your foot heals well. Take it easy and let scarlet nurse you back to health. And enjoy plenty of games you like.

  • Kevin_Holsinger

Good morning Spoony and fellow Spooners.

Surgery, eh? I say this is Linkara's fault. Guy can't make a decent clone worth a damn.

In all seriousness, I hope and trust that everything goes well.

  • sara_88

Sorry to hear about the surgery, Spoony. You're a much stronger person that I am about stuff like that. I've had seventeen surgeries (I'm only 21) and they still freak me out! Also, I got two of your shirts for Christmas. Best…presents..ever.

Man Spoony you really have to see Sherlock Holmes. I really went in expecting Robert Downy Jr to be playing Tony Stark… But he actually did a pretty good job, I went in with like animosity to be like.

ARRRAAAARH I'M GONNA HATE THIS MOVIE, but I came out with… Wow, that was, actually pretty damn decent. So please, please, PLEASE see this movie. I really wanna see you post a Vlog on your thoughts. You seem to have the same kind of movie taste as I and that makes me feel a whole heap better about myself as a person.

Also for advice on the ingrown toenail, get rip roaring drunk and have somebody rip it out for you. Now, this is important. It's going to hurt pretty much like Transformers, and Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, however it will feel as good as the first time you tasted chocolate.

    • CohagenLovesAir

Yeah, I actually really kind of loved Sherlock Holmes. Late contender for most pleasant surprise.

Also, Spoony, watch MOON if you’ve been disappointed in the sci-fi movies this year, like District-9 and Avatar. That movie is fucking incredible.

    • CohagenLovesAir

I'm glad you're a super human Spoony! ^_^ I wish you quick healing on that foot and a happy new year!

  • VintageOhMy900

See, you'll never enjoy wrestling if you watch it with Smark-Vision Goggles all the time. The Bret Hart thing for example. We know he won't wrestle, he may have a match where HBK carries him, but we know he's a personality, he's a legend in the business, so we're OK with this. He can bring something new to the show, and it could be good. But if you Smark it up Holmes and say 'Oh, well, he won't be the REAL Bret Hart' then you'll always be disappointed.
tl;dr: to enjoy wrestling, turn your brain off. It's less retarded than Transformers, so go with it.

  • http://www.vaughnonmovies.com/ Vaughn On Movies

Not great news to hear on my birthday. I no longer have insurance, so I can't be getting even a cough, so I hope you're covered better than me. I think your gaming skills have had a positive impact on your pain tolerance.

    Good luck.

  • http://twitter.com/Eighteentoes Eighteentoes

Sorry to hear the painfull stuff your feet are going through- hope you get to enjoy newyears anyways.

As you neither made a vlog commentary on it nor mentioned it in the list of good movies of this year one movie probably passed under your radar: Zombieland. One of the most hilarious movie-going experiences of this year…

get your bones mended quickly and enjoy the tiny rest of this year!

On the “Get DQ'd on purpose thing”: Heels are supposed to do that. That makes sense. They do it because they're cowards, and you're supposed to hate them for it.

It's when the FACES do it, like in the DX/Jerishow match, that it pisses me off.

  • http://www.facebook.com/afmagana Antonio Francisco Magaña Gómez

Hi Noah. It wasn't that bad at the end, isn't it? Just a little time out and you'll be back. Cheers from your friends over here and get well soon!

  • yukovalis

Sorry to hear that. I hope it's as quick and as painless as can be. Oh and make sure the Doc doesn't know you that well, or they might be a bit of a jokester. *digging thru your skin* your in my way sir…

  • yukovalis

Hiya Spoony nice to hear ya ranting again!!

i'm glad you did santa with muscles then did another wrestling vlog because hogan is back jan. 4th so i'm hoping you'll vlog about that too, i'm gonna watch it and it'll be the first wrestling show i've seen in like 10 years

    Good luck with the surgery!!!

  • http://twitter.com/Keeto787 Brandon

I went with my friend to see Avatar. He said that 3-D was the only way to see it and he is the kind of guy who wont budge. So I saw it in 3-D. It gave me a huge migrain. I really think I would have enjoyed it in 2-D. I am getting kinda tired all these movies having the option of being seen in 3-D. But thats just me.

  • Anonymous

Games are cool! Spoons are cool! If you mix em together u get a Spoony one playing a Video Game ;D I wanna see more Let’s Plays with your great commentary :D

  • GaryTheNorm

Bah! Broken feet do not bother Spoony! Spoony is strong! Like russian STEEL!

Seriously though, good luck with the surgery. (Although since you were unlucky enough to get a Jones fracture, well, it's not really a good sign.)

Hope you still manage to have a happy new year!

  • KratosWriter

So sorry to hear about the foot Spoony. I wish you a very speedy recovery. I've had surgeries done on me before. Enjoy spending that entire day asleep and confused. You may STILL be sleepy and confused the next day but I usually was just out of it on after the surgery until the next day. Then again, I get over things very quickly. Whatever. Anywho, get well soon and stuff!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Martin-Andersen/838409871 Martin Andersen

When you mentioned how subtitles could ruin a movie for people, District 9 and Ingloruious Basterds, I can honestly say that subtitles is something that I have no problems with.

I'm a Norwegian so every single movie not made in Norway has subtitles in them otherwise I wouldn't have known the difference between shit and a diamond.

Of course with DVDs there is the option of turning them on or off but with the old VHS tapes there was no such thing.
So for someone like me, who has had subtitle burned into my brain from a young age, I can just lean back and just watch the movie and just naturally suck up whatever appears as subtitles.

This rings true for many other countries as well, just about every country that isn't America, so it's not that odd that movies like District 9 or Inglourious Basterds get's less flack for use of subtitles and different languages because that's how we're used to it anyways.

  • tmpp

Hope you get well soon Spoonster! We require more Swat 4 for sustenance!

  • SethTheXenocide

Good luck with the surgery and the recovery, Spoony.

  • Lowcifur

I think Noah has a high tolerance for pain because Scarlett frequently beats him with a bike chain. She's probably the one who broke his foot (it's his fault for not listening). Next, he'll record a vlog with “eyeshadow” from “another video”.

    Tell the people!

  • AlucardtheIII

Who's the Ben Reviewer that Noah is referring to? I'm now interested in seeing this Ben's Top ten movies of the Decade.

  • goodtimesfreegrog

Thanks for dropping a recommendation on the Crank movies, I'll definitely check those out.

Funny you should mention the dissonance between a good movie and a good moviewatching experience (and, in relation to that, Avatar again), because I can definitely see what you mean by that. Too bad I only ever go to the movies with my family, and even when I went to see Avatar there was no fun experience to be had. Even in 3D. I got a chuckle out of the thing with making fun of the movie in the theatre.

  • Saisinkolimonadin

I don't think Tarantino ever does commentaries for his movies. He did one for Sin City, and possibly for Hot Fuzz (not sure about that) and maybe some other movies, but at least any of my DVDs of his own movies have his commentaries.

  • http://scarlettopia.com Scarlett

Hush, you! With Noah all gimpy, I'mma need another boy to whip. I'm not above kidnapping fans for my needs! =)

Hah! Good luck finding me…my girlfriend keeps me locked up in the basement exactly to prevent that sort of thing.

That just means you can’t play the Wii with him for a while. And come on scarlet, wrong bone, but I don’t think he’ll complain. But look at it like this, you won’t have to go watch the Twilight movie again.

    Part 1
I think I speak for everyone here when I say, get well soon. Foot injuries blow, and they inhibit work of any kind.

    Part 3
I don't turn movies off too often, but “The Class” was one of those movies. What was the point of that, and how did it garner a Palme D'or?! I think you've actually gained a lot of respect by calling this one out as vastly overrated.

Need to check out “Crank 2″, in fact I added it to my Netflix queue as soon as I finished watching the videos.

Glad to see you checked out “The Hurt Locker”, which is my personal pick for best movie of the year. It was quite an expierience to see on the big screen, and I think it'd lose a lot of it's impact on video. Didja know Kathryn Bigelow, the film's director, is James Cameron's ex-wife? Also, the movie was shot three miles from the Iraq border in Jordan, and the Iraqi characters are played by refugees.

Spoony – Hi. Hope the surgery works out okay. I know that it's no fun having to go into the hospital. Please do relax afterwards and recoup before you get started again. Don't let yammering fans, always hungry for fresh, new content to bully you into returning too fast. Get well soon.

I am looking forward to your future movie reviews, especially the Reb Brown “Captain America.” Of course to be fair it would be tough for anyone, even Steven Speilberg to take a character like Captain American a guy who runs around in blue tights and wields a shield and make him a convincing movie character. If I was a filmmaker I would much rather take some third-string comic book character that was never too popular and hardly anyone remembered and turn him into a movie. That way I would not have legions of committed fans yammering at me that I did not make his costume red enough or his sidekick young enough. If you had the chance to make a movie with a comic book character, who would you choose? Me? I might choose Booster Gold or Deathlock or Kamandi. I also think that Aquaman would be a good choice. I say that because nobody every seems to have any love for him. In fact he is the most lambasted of all comic book characters. Everyone makes fun of his superpower which is talking to fish. The good thing about him would be that you'd be free to change him in all kinds of terrible ways and turn him into a real bad attitude bad ass at war with the surface world. As well, I could play on the whole Aquaman/Jesus Christ connection that the AmazingAthiest pointed out on YouTube a few days ago. Ha!

  • sir_bedivere

Try to remember to take care of yourself first. We can be patient in waiting for your videos. I know it's just your foot, but still take care of yourself.

I still will never agree with you on Avatar, I think your way off, but that's what's fun about movie reviews. Thanks for all the videos this year, and I hope you have a good new year. Eventhough you probably won't be remembering it for a few days.

  • specterm91

Oh shit. Good luck with the surgery, Spoony, hope things go well. Give yourself some time to relax afterward.

  • maluku

Man, I would pay to sit next to spoony in a theater during a bad movie!

  • Anonymous

Sorry to hear about your foot, but the reason I’m commenting is for your opinion of Avatar. I agree with your view point. You can’t hide a weak story with flashy graphics and special effects. It’s a problem that has been invading storytelling for years, dazing the audience with something bright and shiny so they don’t notice that there isn’t anything behind the curtain.
Gimmicks like stereoscopic 3d (the non-tinted lens version of 3D, which needs a special projector to get right, which is why they can’t get it to work on your TV without you buying the next generation of HD TV’s) feel more and more like they are getting in the way of enjoying a story. It’s good to know a review I can trust is not blinded by them.
Hope your surgery goes well and your friends avoid “hop to it” jokes.

  • http://scarlettopia.com Scarlett

I like Miles, but thank goodness you and I have much more similar thoughts on movies, luv! (The Class sucks!) =)

Re: the death of Dumbledore in HP6, it occurs at the very end of the book (it literally ends with his funeral) so the impact of his death becomes much more potent in the 7th book, Deathly Hallows. I think the film portrayed it just right. At its core, this is still a book/film series that's aimed at the younger generation, so dwelling on it too much would have left it with a very heavy feeling. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and was glad you mentioned This Is It as well. Having seen most of these films with you in the theater, it's always interesting to see what you have to say about them after the fact! ♥

  • Isaaac

Maybe the point of 3D is to make people see it in the theater.

  • Dreammirror

Sorry to hear about the foot surgery Spoony, but I hope everything goes well and you get back on your feet soon! You missed a good joke to the doctor though when he commented on the amount of pain you could shrug off –you should've mentioned having endured Uwe Boll and Michael Bay made gave you that power :P. Seriously though, I hope everything works out for you well!

  • Anonymous

Spoony…..don’t watch impact…..it’s not worth it for you…

  • Anonymous

    Poor Spoony!

I broke the same bone in my foot back in October, but at the end of the bone, so it sucked real bad for a few days, then I just walked it off. Hope the surgery, recovery, and any PT goes well. Oh, and if they have you staying in the hospital and you’re able to press a button for morphine–take advantage of that button. It’s wonderful for that first day post-surgery.

  • Dreammirror

Hey Spoony! Sorry to hear about the upcoming surgery, but we will all be rooting for you! As for the doctor being surprised at your tolerence level for foot pain–you should've mentioned that sitting through Uwe Boll and Michael Bay has given you super powers as a result! :P Seriously though, good luck and get well soon! -Dreammirror

  • areoborg

Spoony has super-human pain reduction abilities? I, for one, welcome our new super-human overlord of the internets.

  • morritan

Totally agree with Coraline, I got it and the red and blue lense 3D was unwatchable. It lost colour and wasn't even that 3D.

  • dragonfly82

Sigh…..I guess nobody can change your mind about naming Avatar a 3D gimmick
(I guess to each it's own)

just stay away from reviewing Avatar anymore, I'll save you a lot bashing,
and move on with something else….

Looking forward to the Reb Brown Captain America movie review….

  • spectervonbaren

Or you could do some sort of review while your foot is in pain like you did with your E.T. review

And what you said about Avatar and the 3D and such is exactly what I was thinking too.

  • JeanJacket

I have to kind of shake my head when I hear people say anything like “The 3D makes the movie!” If it relies on special effects to make it good, it's probably not worth watching. (That said, I saw Avatar without the 3D and thought it was okay.)

Good luck with the foot surgery. And nice Monty Python shirt.

  • kirkw

Great WWE Raw review again Spoony. I hope you continue to keep posting on wrestling as it's very entertaining.

  • traceace

    Feel better soon, Spoony!

  • TripleKelly

You should do wrestling show recaps every week. But that will probably put you in a mental institution and we don't want that.

Yeah, I love Bret Hart to death but I'm not waiting with baited breath for his grand return cause like you said, he ain't gonna wrestle cause he CAN'T, and they're gonna have him around all the lame ass comedy skits. The ghost of Bruiser fucking Brody could return and it would take a backseat to Chavo and Hornswoggle WACKINESS. And the Raw with Bret is supposed to compete with Hulk's grand TNA debut. We'll see how well that does.

Good luck with your foot surgery. Stay off it and don't go cuckoo. :)

  • mutough

Hm… Surprised at the lack of Public Enemies. But then again, that was like, the only movie I went to see. My family doesn't really go to the movies, but Public Enemies was really damn good.

Also, I'm glad Bret is returning. He, Curt Hennig, and Benoit were the best workers in the business, but that's probably because of my natural draw towards the technical wrestlers.

  • http://twitter.com/TheTygerfire Tyger Fire

Just to let you know, the Theatrical Version of Drag Me To Hell had the same nosebleed scene, unless it was shortened.

  • Anonymous

The way you pronounce “Malin Åkerman” was funny for a Swedish-dude like me.

  • backtoklondike

About Oldboy. Benzaie said that he never saw Oldboy on his comments so its no wonder he missed it out.
And I totaly disagree with Miles about HP6, as a big Harry Potter- fan I thought that the movie was faithful to the book although I agree with whole “Harry wants to get laid”-part. (But thats just something I thought could have been toned down i the book itself.) By the way, good luck with the foot.

  • Fingerbang

I didn't like the half blood prince at all, it was too short for one, but I already expected that. The entire movie was watchable except for one part which differs from the book(the only part I was looking forward too), right after dumbledore's death the movie cuts too harry trying to catch up with snape and the death eaters destroying silverware in the greathall, in the book (if i remember correctly) most of the “order of the pheonix” was there to fight off the Death Eaters and even members of the DA ie: neville and ginny came to fight. Having such a climactic battle cut from the movie just makes several scenes in the movie pointless, like having Malfoy fix up the cupboard for the majority of the movie just to have the Death Eaters enter hogwarts to destroy cutlery…sigh…

  • TheCynicalObserver

Hey Spoony. Good Luck with your surgery. You'll be in my thoughts. Get well soon!

  • FowderSoap

    Hey, Spoony- about your foot…

I think you do have a superhuman tolerance for pain. That's why you play games like Pumpkinhead.

  • CrimsonDusk

Take care of yourself man, although I got to admit SWAT 4 is one of my favorite series of yours next Final Fantasy 8 and Phantasmagoria 2 because you get so much in character in those videos. Gonna track down Oldboy to see if this movie really is that good.

Also I kind of expected you to say Inglorious Basterds is your favorite movie of 2009 because of two reasons: the lack of good movie and that's saying allot. This year was full of movies you could say they were like The Little engine that couldn't. They had so much potential and that made them go down so much harder. The second reason is the immersion. Really that movie is so atmospheric: the language, the settings, the mannerism, all is so authentic you feel yourself being swept away by the movie. The first scene/chapter in the movie were Hans Landa first starts talking in French and than switches to English was incredible to me because I though he switched to English because the director wanted to make the movie easier for the audience to understand but the reason really took me by surprise. That's how the whole movie was, allot of chapters that first started as something banal or calm that would transform in something energetic and explosive. Also the language was no bother for but I have to admit I know some French, Italian and German but for someone that usually sees movies in English and Japanese, this movie was like a breath of atmospheric fresh air. Truly the best of 2009.

Again get well Spoony and yeah it seemed a little Benzaie got out of his way to make that list out of movies almost no one saw or allot of people thought were bad but I got to say it really is an impressive list and I'll try to track down those movies to see if they deserve the praise.

  • calibandonflamingo

I really just want to see HBK, Vince, and Bret standing in the ring looking at each other with hatred, then they start smiling at each other, come close and embrace, and then start laughing and pointing at the camera. Wrestlecrap would explode. Hey Spoony are you going to review the Marine movies? It seems like a perfect fit.

  • Clevertitan

Spoony you forgot to mention G.I. Joe it is going to win a Oscar this year… for the worst movie ever made! It really is a tie with Indian Jones and the Alien invasion! opps i mean crystal skull

  • Anonymous

I usually agree with you on many movies. However, Crank: High Voltage was not a good film – and I’ll tell you why. My friend took me to see this piece of drek when it came out. From the begining to end, I felt like I was sitting in bar filled with filthy sweaty ass tasting choad lickers who had just freshly squeezed themselves out of the premiere of the Beavis and Butthead movie. Aside from the action what really was there? It seemed every scene was devoted to doing some over the top shock style performance in order to ooohhh and awwwee every cell of every audience member’s medulla oblongata. There were some enjoyable parts and the premise of the film was sound. But anything worthwhile was ruined by it trying too hard to be crude and utterly foul. By the end of the film I had had my fill, but then the damn movie flips me and the audience off like a “Fuck You Suckers …I Got Your Money and Your Not Getting It Back!” style goodbye with a virtual door slap to the back side on the way out. And then, of all things, you got that stupid scene frozen and set as your desktop pic. Argh! Maybe it’s this style of movie that I don’t get and leaves me scratching my head others are screaming “Hell Yeah!” But oh well. I’d rather watch Die Hard or just about any other action movie than that steaming pile.

thank you for the grand videos first and for most. i really very much enjoyed them and felt you were pretty spot on for most part though for the life of me i will never understand what you see in 3 kings. i could stand the movie up till they one guy stupidly drives into the mine field looking for whatever he was looking for causeing the 3 of them to crash. it's not a movie you can watch with your brain on because they make such truely questionable decitions for people out looking for gold and make such a moral turn on a dime that it just makes no sense to me. it's like in episode 3 where anakins asked to join the darkside after damn near killing mace windu and he goes from “nooooooooo.” to “okay where do i sign up.” in like nothing flat.

the point is things happen way too fast and way too easily as compared to the characters presented set of ideals and what not in otherwords it seemed way out of character for them to do what they have done and i for one couldn't find enjoyment with 3 kings it's one of the few movies i could never finish.

  • Earthbound_X

I might be having surgery soon as well, messed up my right knee pretty back in Oct, and the knee cap still pops out.

Hope you have good luck with your surgery.

The mods on the Wrestlecrap forum will wear their fingers out on the “Ban Member” button with one half loving it, the other half hating it, and those two factions getting into a name-calling WAR. And the rest of us that wrestling passed by years ago will just sit back and watch everyone else go crazy and get ban hammer'd.

I know how you feel about Avatar. Went to see it with 4 other friends and they all came out talking about it being the best movie they ever seen. Pissed me of good, nice effects seems to be the thing that sells tickets. First Transformers and now this, hope it´s not a new trend.

  • Swingontehspiral

avatar's storyline was dissapointing, but i stand by the fact that if something is hyped for 15 fucking years, very few movie junkies will watch it for what its worth. i guarantee that you avatar is a diamond in the rough compared to most sci fi movies lately, especially recent comic book adaptions. dances with wolves ripped off lawrence of arabia, im pretty sure that cameron was trying to go for a science fiction version of that storyline. other than that, you were spot on with the rest of your list when it came to why i trust your reviews. im glad miles is there to balance your snarkiness out sometimes.

3D did not make Avatar better. It was not the way the movie is meant to be seen, WHY!? Because a movie has to stand the test of time. When that movie gets released in Video it isn't going to be on Imax 3D! It will look like any other movie when its release on home video.

  • http://cassave.deviantart.com/ Cassavius

3D is a fad. I have an eye-thing and because of that it just gives me headaches and dizzy spells.

The Class is just boring, even if you speak French.

You really ought to see “Beast of War” when it comes to war-movies.

Subtitles is something you have to grow up with…us Dutch speakers are quite used to it.

Hope your surgery goes well. Nothing's more depressing than a spoon that can't walk. :(

As for District 9: Watch it again, one more time. Watch it again, or I'll break your back. Watch it again, or I'll punch your fuckin' face. You're gonna accept the kids' movie, or I'll kill you.*

*If anyone gets that reference, I'll give them a frosty chocolate milkshake.

  • http://twitter.com/Johndoes2121 John Does

Sucks to hear about the foot thing, I actually had the same exact breakage when I was around 14. It really didn't hurt until after the surgery, then it felt like the whole area was on fire. However you know what they say-Vicodin's a hell of a drug.

Also, is that the Razer Deathadder I spy on your desk? I'm looking at mine right now, and if not it must be a similar razer mouse. The pulsing LED is rather distinct.

On the wrestling: I really, really hope you do more vlogs about wrestling, Spoony. I'm a huge fan myself and I'm really, really loving your take on things. More please!

Spoony man! I hope you feel better soon dude.

Though Spoony… I know how to solve the wrestling problem… The Spoony-Nation should get together and get SPOONY to be the guest commentator for RAW! (Somehow… I don't think we could succeed! But we should try!)

Feel better Noah, but no Star Trek for best movies of the year?

Ouch, sorry to hear about the foot Spoony. Breaking something and not knowing it is pretty common, actually. I broke my collarbone this summer and I thought it was just a near-dislocation. It took another week and some weird bruising to get me into a doctor’s office for an x-ray before I learned it was broken. Be glad you have the option of getting it taken care of, though. I’ve been jobless for the past year, no insurance, so taking care of my shoulder took a big chunk out of my tiny budget.

To bad about the foot, hilarious facts.

Btw if you like Oldboy, you might want to take a look at the other “Vengance” movies. For instance: Chinjeolhan geumjassi aka. Lady Vengance.

It's just a suggestion for you to view, not saying it should be on any list.

So, Spoony I take it there isn't going to be any sequel to the E.T. review. Playing another game high on pain killers? Maybe not. Get well soon, and thanks for the review of the movie year. I would like to hear what you thought of the video games this year. Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention Star Trek, I'm sure you've already been asked that eighty times. Have a good new year.

  • ThomasMink

I just have to comment on Bret.. so I stopped the video early. The thing is, not many guys in wrestling these days know how to talk on a mic. There's maybe one or two. Bret says he was never really good at it and that's why he needed the glasses, but he really underrates himself in that regard (admittedly, he does believe his own hype a bit too much in other regards tho). When he was in the ring yelling at McMahon and Austin, during the one show, for screwing him or whatever.. it was just full of awesome, plus the whole pro-Canada angle he had going with various relatives and such.

Granted, I'm not really expecting that same Bret. The last few times I've seen him in interviews and such, he seemed much more mellow of a person.. like the stroke those years ago took something out of him, but oh well. It's a show I'll have to watch anyway.. not because I'm expecting anything great, but because I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I remember fondly the awesome Hart Foundation tag team with Jim 'The Anvil'.. and also his excellent solo career. I still watch the matches on the Bret Hart DVDs every now and again.. plus others on YouTube. :)

Then again, I haven't really watched wrestling outside of a passing glance in the past 11 or so years.. and honestly, I doubt even Bret will be able to hold me through an entire show these days. It's just not the same.

  • http://www.mangapunksai.com Sai

So you managed to break your foot in the one-in-a-million worst spot ever? Well at least it's something to brag about! Get well soon.

And hey don't underestimate the power of Let's Plays. I enjoy them for background noise and such while I'm working, as long as the player is funny. And you are. I still rewatch Phantasmagoria in the background now and then while I'm working on stuff.

I never saw Half-Blood Prince, my friends who have and who have also read the books had the same complaints about it focusing on Harry dating and skirt chasing and crap and they didn't even show the scene of Dumbledore's funeral. I mean really? Either way though, the last two books were actually the weakest ones, at least I thought. They were just weird and all over the place.

  • ApatheticOne (the original)

    1. Surgery is never fun (unless you get Vicodin for the pain)..and in-grown toe nails are disgusting….good luck with all that.

    2. WWE Raw……………………………………………………..really? I can't believe people still watch that trash.

    3. Respectable list of the Best Of '09……………….Avatar sucks, end of story.

Spoony, with regards to how much people like your Swat 4 Let's Plays, I wouldn't let that make you think that people under-appreciate your scripted stuff. Just take it as a compliment that people find you naturally funny. :)

Part 1 — Good luck with the surgery, Spoony. I've been through a few surgical and quasi-surgical procedures in my time, but I can't think of a worse place to have it than on your foot. Hopefully, the way stitches are done has improved over the last 20 years or so, because having those taken out was a joy the last time I had it done.

Part 2 — Like I think I said last time you talked about wrestling, I'm always surprised that there are still people who watch that stuff. I used to think it was almost fun when I was in high school fifteen years ago, but then I went off to college and discovered that just about everything else was better.

Part 3 — It sounds like I might have enjoyed going to the movies more often than I did, but I don't regret the fact that the only one I went to see in the theater was Star Trek. It just seemed like kind of a lousy year for movies to me this year. Maybe next year will be better, at least in part because the studios won't rely quite so heavily on sequels and dog movie. Or maybe I'm just getting my hopes up on that.

Anyway, best of luck with the foot surgery, Spoony.

You should for sure see Sherlock Holmes. It was absolutely fantastic! It was an excellent combination of action, comedy, and drama. It was well paced throughout, very well scripted, and magnificently shot. Robert Downey Jr. is very good at adding in these little subtle facial expressions that say more about his character than much of the dialogue. The comedic elements were not distracting whatsoever, which is a problem many action/drama films run into when they attempt to inject comedy into the script. Overall, it's perhaps one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

Also, I agree with the book-movie thing. I had that experience with Watchmen. I saw the film before reading it, and as much as I know fans of the graphic novel would hate me for saying this, but I preferred the film to the graphic novel. I *hated* the Black Freighter stuff. It was boring, distracting, and unnecessary. I was glad it was removed from the film. The change in the ending was good, too. Billy Crudup was a great choice as Dr. Manhattan. His voice is gentle and tragic, and that contrasts well with Manhattan's appearance, giving the character the same sort of depth he has in the novel. In fact, besides Malin Ackerman, I thought the casting was great.

So yeah, go see Sherlock Holmes. It will cheer you up and help you forget about your foot-related woes! I'm excited for the sequel, and I secretly wish they'd cast the same guy who played Moriarty on Star Trek TNG for that role.

  • shapercreator14

Great list… but what about Zombieland? would that've made the list?

  • edczxcvbnm

I have been in the same position with the agonizing pain that doesn't seem to be there. I had wisdom teeth removed and the guy removing them also clean cut the next molar off at the gum line somehow exposing the pulp entirely. The root was there but the crown was not. I took 1 pain pill all weekend and that was right after the surgery because you are suppose to at some point then take another when the pain becomes too much. I never took another pill. I went all weekend with no pain but obviously avoiding the pulp as much as possible. My dentist was astonished that Monday after an after hours visit.

Like you I don't know why I was in no real suicidal pain but I will take it =D

Surgery pretty much always bites the big one, but its good to hear that you're getting it out of the way quickly and not doing too bad right now.

Hope everything works out well for you.

Get well soon Spoony. Rock on man.

  • Reina_Vash

I hope you foot gets healed sooner rather than later! I hope you take it easy Spoonster. Try not to work too hard! I have not had any surgeries in my life whatsoever, but my mom certainly has. She's been through about five this year alone, so I do know what it's like for pain because I helped take care of her before and after her surgeries. Anyways, I hope this doesn't set you off too much. Just make sure you get some good rest!

I never cared that much for wrestling but I knew it was bad and it's only getting worse, yet people still watch it and half of them think it's still real! Most of those people are twenty-five and up. I could not believe they thought it was real. Anywhosel, yeah I don't really care for them. I just like to laugh at the bad acting. It reminds me of the bad acting in pornography.

I love a lot of movies. Even some that make no sense, but they're enjoyable. Avatar was like that in a way. It was beautiful scenery, magnificent graphics and superb designing of the characters! I really was fascinated about how they looked. I really liked it. It was very different to me, but the storyline does not make it a keeper. I do have to agree with you that 2009 just had a bad movie season. I did see Invictus which is a slow, political movie but was moving at the same time. I think that is a decent movie. Considering I haven't really seen much of a government type leader encourage a team to win for uniting a country. I thought that was very unique and it was based on a book I do believe. That and Morgan Freeman is a fantastic actor no matter what he plays besides Gary Oldman (my favorite actor). As for the dog movies, oh boy I don't want to get into those cheesy movies at all.

So long, keep up the good work and stay rested!

    P.S.
Can't wait to see more S.W.A.T ((because when you play games it's awesomely fun.))

  • transgression

hey spoony sucks to hear bout ya foot. One thing about your top 2009 movies………Everyone has their opinion on movies, whats great whats not, fair enough, but seriously i am totally sick of the American propaganda movies about WW2. Inglorious Basterds was the most offensive movie i had ever seen. It portrayed Americans as the ultimate end to the war, the greatest super hero ever, the GERMANS whowever were all portrayed as evil filthy jew hatin scumbags, pure evil. Thats complete bullshit! Come on, in the first scene with the “Jew Golem' guy whatever, the german soldier is labelled as a filthy jew hatin nazi because he wont give up his fellow soldiers position, fuck man im sure if you were captured by enemy soldiers you would die before givin away your mates position? does that make you a filthy nazi?
I got nothing against American capitalism whatever, but to say that you guys ALONE won WW2 is really startin to piss me off somthin fierce! what about all the other nations that fought and died for their country? what about all the anti semite american soldiers? i know i know each to his own, but shit man see it for what its worth, pure AMERICAN WAR PROPAGANDA!

Keep up the good work man. Do more shit with action figures, that stuff is hilarious!

  • stainedsword

Super human tolerance for pain? Have you SEEN the games this guy reviews?

Hope the surgery goes well, could be a lot worse.

A wrestler that isn't stupid? Are you sure you aren't on anaesthetic right now?

I'm asking a lot of questions in this post, aren't I?

I'm going with Miles on this one, I fucking hate the 6th HP movie. Undoubtedly worst of the series in my opinion. And I can't even remember any of the book. I could probably go on for a whole video of my own hating on it. Do not want.

Always love your vlogs, hope to see you triumphantly return after your surgical hiatus.

  • michaelrittenberry

Absolutely agree about Inglourious Basterds. Best movie of the year, hands down. Then again, Tarantino firing on all cylinders is easily one of the better directors working nowadays period.

Hopefully, the surgery will go smoothly and the pain will go away faster than you expect!

  • lessthansign3

I forgot to ask in my previous comment, but… did you see Fantastic Mr. Fox? If not, please do! Excellent movie! I was so sad that it preformed poorly at the box office, as it was truly a delightful film. I love stop-motion animation, whether it be with models like Mr. Fox or with clay like Wallace and Gromit. It takes far more talent, patience, and artistry to do stop-motion than it takes to do CGI, in my opinion, based on the “behind the scenes” bits I've seen about both styles.

  • wrestleswhales

The surgery isn't going to be as bad as you think imo. This summer I had a transplant and it didn't hurt like at all. So I bet you'll be back to your normal self in the same week. All the same hope everything goes well and get back to being the same old critic you've always been.

Oh god, surgery. I would not be up to that. Good luck, though!

You are forgetting the best film of 2009 Spoony, “Backdoor sluts 5″. It really deserves a grammy award for the acting alone. And you thought Avatar has some amazing visuals, then wait till see the bazongas on May Swallows. I bet Roger Ebert's thumb isn't the only part of his anatomy that went up when he watched it.

May everything go well with your surgeries, Spoon Man.

  • RoryBinks

The thing with the red and blue glasses in the DVD case has something to do with the screen-size. I had a guest lecturer come into my university talking about 3D movies. The less headache inducing glasses don't work with a smaller screen, i can't remember why. But that's the reason.

Sorry to hear about the broken foot Spoony, as a chronic hospital attendee I feel your pain. Ah well at least you don't have to go to a British NHS hospital.

Hopefully you might be able to get somebody to wheel you along (force them to give you a wheelchair!) to Sherlock Holmes. I was seriously bummed out after Avatar and spent a lot of time cursing the movie industry, thankfully my girlfriend and others dragged my bitchy little arse along to see Holmes and Watson kicking a lot of arse and thank god they did. It's not brilliant or revolutionary but it is very good. Strong Acting good story and Robert Downey Jnr being extremely watchable. The kind of film I love in other words. Weird soundtrack though.

    Anywhoo get well soon.

  • Haplo699

Good luck with the surgery mate, I'm sure it'll go okay, nothing can stop the Snark-Train.

  • Lancell

Ok so heres my comment on all the parts
Part 1: Sorry to hear about your foot, we understand if you take some time of the camera, tell the surgeons that you are the funniest person in the world and they will be extra careful :) .
Weird thing is that I got high pain tolerance as well, I once hit a sharp metal board really hard to my head and I didn't feel a thing, same when someone punched me in a head really hard and still didn't feel anything. My theory about it is that I been clumsy in the past and never take pain killers.
Part 2: I do not understand why you watch wrestling… Well in Sweden we never show wrestling so its maybe that, also isn't WWE one of those wresting programs that is set up like a theater, everyone do like they have a script? Well I wound not know, wrestling never hit Swedish programs.
Part 3: I'm going to see avatar this Monday in 3D, I have only seen those short 3D films 4-5 years ago and I was amazed. I know everyone is talking bad about avatar but I never seen a full movie in 3D so I'm just going to enjoy the pretty pictures for that movie, no matter how bad it is.

  • Disthron

Hi Spoony, I didn't even realize that the recent harry potter was in 3D, anyway it sucks that you can't watch Avatar that way because it is really good.

However, I don't think the movie falls over in 2D. Sure, it dose not have the same visual impact but it's still a beautiful movie. I don't know why you thought 2012 had better effects work than this but that movie was all just buildings smashing apart, usually from a significant distance. That's nothing when compared to doing organic creatures in detailed close up.

Also, about the story, I have not seen dances with wolves, but this is a story that has happened multiple times in the past. Not just with the Native Americans but with all kinds of people at many stages of history there have been people who had bigger armies and or better weapons who tried to take what they wonted from smaller weaker peoples. I did find the story predictable but only because it's an age old story and I felt it was told very well.

I definatly agree with the old style red/blue 3D technique, it used to do the exact same thing to me but I find this new 3D works awesome for me. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the way they project the new 3D would be impossible on current generation TVs. Over here we use the RealD system witch apparently has a frame rate of 144pfs you can read a bit more about it here.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_D_Cinema

To be fair though, some people have no problem with the red/blue type 3D. It's like how some people don't get motion sickness.

But that's it spoony, Avatar dose not stand on it's effects alone. If it was releaced 10 years ago it would still be a decent movie, not a crappy movie. That is assuming that the effects were done competently though.

    WoW… there was a chiwawa 2 movie?!

My god man! After all the bad movies you've seen how can you pick Transformers 2 as one of your worst. I didn't really like that movie but it's now where near the worst movie.

Drag me to hell was another movie that was severely predictable. [SPOILER WARNING] I knew from the moment they had that screeching halt in the car that she was going to give the old woman's corps the coin. I knew that the exorcism would fail, in a lot of ways it would have been better if the boyfriend had pulled the coin out of the letter just to foil the audiences expectations but it didn't and yet I still enjoyed it. Because even though it was predictable it was still a well told story. [END SPOILER WARNING]

About Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, I have not read the books but even to a casual viewer like me this movie felt like it was missing a lot. I know they left stuff out of the other movies but when they were done they still felt like complete stories. I mean in this one Harry gets this book that is addressed to ” the Half-Blood Prince” and then, that's it. It dose not seem to have any real bearing on what is going on.

Also, about Inglorious Basters, some people have reading disabilities and can't focus on both reading and watching what is going on at the same time. And I'm not talking about people who are just too lazy to learn how to read properly. So I missed a lot but I still really enjoyed it.

Dude, this was an awesome year for movies. ^_^

Anyway, I've only finished watching the first video in this post, and I don't know what's wrong with your foot but I hope you feel better soon.

Have a good one Spoony. ^_^

  • iressivor

First of all, hope you have a speedy recovery, Spoony!

Second of all, I wanted to comment on the Bret Hart thing. I've been a fan of his for as long as I can remember, I've had the pleasure of meeting him twice, and I can tell you for certain that even for a stroke survivor, he's still in tremendous shape. I have no doubt that if he wanted to lace up the boots one last time, he could still get it done in the ring. Probably not at the same level he performed at in his prime, but nevertheless, I think he could do it. Do I expect him to do so? Absolutely NOT! He might have some kind of blow-off against Vince at Wrestlemania or some such thing, just to bring closure to their story, but I do agree with you…Bret knows his wrestling days are far behind him. Even so, it shouldn't detract from the bigger picture here…this is Bret's first appearance at a live WWE show in over 12 years! He's a legend in the business, and even if the younger fans can't appreciate him, the old school wrestling fans among us certainly will.

  • dsprox

    Good luck with the surgery!

I hated the Half-Blood Prince. I saw it with a few friends, and afterwards we considered getting our money back. The only cool part was when Dumbledore WTFPWND the zombie thingys in the cave. It was boring and far, far too talky and it felt like the only thing that was accomplished was killing Dumbledore. Also, most of the characters acted like emotional high-school kids, and I think they are in high school, there were several parts where the character would be talking another would overhear or something and misunderstand, and the two would take almost the whole movie trying to work it out. Maybe if they just talked or something they wouldn't have to spend all freaking movie trying to work their problem out. The characters just seemed dense even for their age and even killing zombies with fire wasn't fun enough to bring this movie back.

    • Anonymous

I have to agree with you, there… only two things stood out to me.

      1. What you mentioned: Dumbledore serving some serious whoop-ass to the zombies. That was the most excellent scene evar
      2. Tom Felton’s (Draco Malfoy) acting. Maybe it was just me but he was EXCELLENT. o.o Best actor in the film, imo xD

Sucks to hear about your foot, Spoony, but then again it could probably be a lot worse. Hope the surgery goes well and everything. :)

About reading subtitles, try living in a non-English speaking country. Every time I go into a movie theater I have to force myself to ignore the subtitles in the film. I often find reading subtitles to be a real illusion breaker, but for certain movies (like Inglourious Basterds) it's a necessary evil. Thankfully I can switch off the bloody things for DVD releases.

  • ForcedUser

You'll definitely be in the thoughts and prayers of my group of friends. Put in your position I'd be quite paranoid. :P The subject of having my wisdom teeth was brought up and I'm afraid I don't have your practical courage to just get it over with.

Anyway, good luck with your surgery and take all the time you need for recovery. Believe me, there's plenty of Spoony material for us to fall back on in the meantime

Good luck with your foot surgery. I don’t think it’s a big deal as it’s “only” your foot when comapring to other stuff, as not much can go bad, but I totally can see that nobody would want to get operated anywhere. Just don’t forget, you broke it for CHARITY! ;)
On the movies: I really liked Hangover. If I would make a list of the best movies I seen this year, it would totally go up there, perhaps even on the top. On the other hand, I didn’t watch that much movies at all.
I think Inglorious basterds was pretty good, just not that awesome. Perhaps I have to watch it in english (being a German) to fully appreciate Tarantino’s devotion when it comes to the mix of languages in there.
I don’t really think I would have liked HP and the Half Blood Prince if I watched it. After what I’ve heard from friends, it was the worst movie because it left out most of the awesome action and story that was in there and focused on all the dating stuff (just like your brother said) that I didn’t really feel was prominent in the book. Actually from what my friends told me, the fifth film (Can’t recall the name right now) was actually the best, which suprised me a lot since the fifth book was by FAR the worst. I still think I should watch at least that one as pretty much enjoyed reading the series.
Also enjoyed District Nine, but as a lot of people and critics said it focuses to much on humans being assholes.

Hay Spoony, I didn't realize last night that the last video in the line was actually the 3rd and not the first, silly me. Anyway, that sucks about your foot but I have to say, your a bit of a trooper doing a costume video on what you thought was a sprained foot. Anyway, like I said I hope you recover soon and personally I love your playthroughs as well.

    Take it easy man.

  • nocturnous

Nope the 3d was nothing special and didn't make up for the uninspired plot and insipid characters.

  • valtana

Awe, Spoony! I hope your surgery goes well…and I hope you heal up fast. Rest as much as you can, keep weight off of your foot, and /take your pain meds/. Best of luck…and a happy New Year.

  • Matrim

I really wanted to like the Hurt Locker, but I saw WAY too many flaws. I actually took notes when I saw it, and I ended up with 29 pages of notes (small pages, mind you). As an EOD tech I really liked parts of it, and parts of it were absolutely ridiculous.

I really hope Paranormal Activity is good at home. I liked it in the theater, and I'll probably buy it tomorrow. Here's hoping…

  • Matrim

Oh, one more note about the Hurt Locker. I will say this: it had the most realistic explosions I've ever seen in a movie. When they had a 155 explode, it actually looked like a 155 exploding (for all I know, they might actually have been using 155s).

  • MSH_Hitman

An interesting list of movies for 2009. I personally disagreed with Harry Potter. I don't read the books at all, but I hated this movie due to all the dating stuff. Then it just kinda ends…no build up…nothing…and then my sister tells me that they cut out some fight scene and that bummed me out. Nothing about the movie worked for me. I sorta had been building up with the past two movies, enjoying them, then this comes around and then it was just…not exciting. I'm interested for the next one, but this one just fell flat.

I'd also probably disagree with Inglorious Basterds also. Not that it was bad, but I saw it on DVD after hearing some much good about it, but…it was totally underwhelming. I of course was pulled in by the trailer with the talk of allied troopers kicking the shit out Nazi's behind enemy lines, but really they are a small part of the film. Now I loved most of the dialogue scenes and the plot with the Jewish girl. It was like two different movies. There was the realistic feeling drama of this Jewish girl escaping, getting a new life, then coming up with a way to kill these Nazi's, then there was the totally fictional and outlandish idea of the Basterds. And the ending blew…It was partially great, but doing the ending as it was totally took me out of the movie, cause it was like “That didn't happen in the war” and lost a lot of impact. Great movie, poor direction. Fantastic dialogue scenes, though some of it was totally unnecessary.

Well good luck with the surgery, Spoony. I'll be keeping an eye out for what you'll have coming after your recuperation.

Good luck with the surgery. But it doesn't sound too major, so no worries. Besides, if they do mess something up, you can always sue them for tons of money. And I'm sure Scarlett will help take care of you ;)

I find myself agreeing with a number of your best of 09 choices. Harry Potter was odd because, as I thought back on it after seeing it, nothing really stood out for me, and yet I found myself really enjoying it. More than I did the last couple. I think it was just a solid movie. And like you, I haven't read the books either. And I think not knowing anything going in is the best way to go. That way there's no expectations, and since the books tend to be regarded higher anyway, you'll probably get more enjoyment out of reading them.

Crank 2 was not a very good movie, and the first one was better. But damn I agree was it still fun and entertaining to watch.

Hurt Locker was surprisingly good. My friend who saw it first hyped it up too much getting me to watch it, but not by much. The tension in that movie just twists your gut, and yet you can't wait until the next time it does it.

And I just watched Basterds for the first time a couple of days ago. I think in your old vlog you mentioned how the marketing was completely different than the actual movie (the Basterds are in, what, maybe 20-25% of the film? and it's about 80% non-english? and the marketing made it seem like a comedy at times) But it had surprisingly great performances, and I'm glad Tarantino didn't let history scare him out of ending it the way he wanted. Mike Meyers as an English General…who woulda thunk?

  • MSH_Hitman

I actually had to go to IMDB to double check that was Michael Myers lol I heard the voice, looked at him close, but it was the smile that set me off that it was, but I wanted to make sure, cause usually you see him in some quirky role, but this was rather straight for him, even with being VERY British, heh.

  • MSH_Hitman

And I just checked out Hurt Locker. Been hearing good things for awhile now and I can see why. Every time they would go up to a situation, it was just intense. I really liked this.

  • phoenixml

If you watched Coraline in 3D and felt ok, you would have been ok with Avatar in 3D. But you still wouldn't have like the scenario anyway. As for 3D at home, let's hope HDTV 3D Ready will be worth it…

I like the new 3D cinema, where exactly it's not “IN YOUR FACE” and “coming out of the screen” anymore. It's just give more depths and feels more immersive. But I like movies for entertainment. Yet my soul is still scared for life because of Transformers 2 and Crystal Skul, they're so bad…so so so so so bad…

  • RareAddict

Very nice list, Spoony. While there are several places in which our lists differ (as I included both Avatar and District 9 on my list), our #1 favorite movie of the year is the same. Yep, having watched it again on DVD, Inglourious Basterds really is one of those relatively few films that only gets better with repeat viewings.

Hope that your foot surgery went well.

  • NaclynE

I never cared for Brett “The Hitman” Heart since the death of Owen Heart. I saw the interview he gave on that Wednesday on MSNBC and he said som sick shit about the fans like saying that the wrestlers are puppets to us to use and abuse and are circus monkies that do “Very dangerous things to ooh and ahh the crowd while in truth we really don't want to at all”. He also said that he wouldn't wrestle anymore but months later (June of that year) he wound up signing with WCW and competed there. I am like what a hypocrite.
I do admit Timberland was otay but at least he wasn't as bad as Vern Shoeyer (Mini Me) were he looked freak out on that stool and didn't seem to know either what was going on either. Very worst was the Nascar guys. I posted that one in the wrestling section where one of the guys was saying that Koffie Jhonston was going to compete tonight. The other guy steps in and says “Koffie Kingdom…Koffie Kingston.” I was like wtf and was laughing my ass off. Obviously the Nascar had no clue what to do either and didn't even seem to not want to be there either.
As I said before they need to get people who know of the show and act like they know what's going on or as Spoony said 'use flash cards' in place of comeing across as a total pie hole on network TV and call someone Koffie Jhonston.

I haven't seen the movie list video yet but I do have a good list of my own. My problem is it will take me some time to compose a list but from what I remember alot of the Fall movies like G.I.JOE and GAMER rocked.

I didn’t like The Halfblood Prince, even though I haven’t read the book. IMHO they sacrificed almost all of the plot and character development in favor of cheap teen comedy, and they went so far that when in the end of the movie Snape tells Harry that he is the halfblood prince, I could only say ‘so what?’ This moment actually ruined the whole movie for me, because then I realized, they killed off the plot completely; so much that the last shreds of it became incomprehensible.

I'm sorry to hear about your foot. I'll be praying that the operation goes well and you have a speedy painless recovery. You'll be up making awesome videos and beating down horrible movies in no time dude.

Count your self lucky good sir I've been under the knife twice last year been to the hospital the vast majority of it for pancreatitis and the vast majority of my year was spent in the hospital. I lost about 90lbs. and required multiple blood and platelet transfusions from the vast number of complications that arose. I was very lucky I did not die or end up diabetic. So take comfort in knowing that Dougs sidewalk is not nearly as lethal as my fiances tacos.

Good luck with the surgery, i've had to have two major surgeries in my life before, and it's scary as hell. I mean…even with minor surgeries, there can be complications. I know a girl who died during a breast augmentation surgery, you need to avoid that knife as much as you can man. During my second surgery, something actually went wrong and they pumped way too much stuff into me, felt like my veins were about to explode….but i passed out soon after that. Luckily i came out of it ok.

But when you get better, do some jogging, do some stretching and stuff man, keep yourself limber so you can handle stupid falls and stuff like that. You're my favorite of the geek reviewers, hope you're around for a long time to come.

Spoony, why are you still watching wrestling? I used to be a huge WWF (I REFUSE to call it WWE) fan back in the 80s as a little kid and then in the late 90s early into this decade. Hell, I was even at No Mercy back in October of 2001. But there just came a point where I was sitting there watching the Smackdown that I'm like “Really? You know, this is pretty damn trite by now.”

Come on, Spoony, just give it up. It's for your own good.

  • smithy4282

First I want to say that I agree with your comments on movies in 3D. I have a lazy eye and therefore the tricks they use to show a 3D image don't work on me. So going to a 3D movie means paying the same as the regular movie but having to wear those glasses over my regular glasses. Then if it's those red and blue ones then depending on which eye is dominant I either see the movie in all red or all blue and it's annoying. I do agree that 3D will become more mainstream when they find a way to make it more accessible. Make it so we don't have to wear glasses and so people like me aren't left out. I would have loved to have seen something like Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D. I haven't seen the movie yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Secondly good choices on your picks for the best movies of the year. I agree that Inglorious Basterds is the best movie this year even though I don't think it will clean up at the Oscars it should see a few nominations especially with them doing 10 Best Picture nominees this year.

Lastly I have watched wrestling for a while but lately I've kind of fallen out of love with it. The story lines and acting have always been not that great but lately I can almost predict everything they are going to do. It's even gotten to the point where doing a match I know when the ref is going to get knocked down or someone's going to kick out of a finishing move. They rarely ever surprise me. As for TNA I think it's a good company and has some good talent but they suffer from the problem of doing the same 4 people in their main events over and over. Lately it's either Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle or Sting with some other people mixed in from time to time. I think if they had someone other than Vince Russo and Jeff Jarrett running it then it would be a lot better.

Well I hope you get better soon and I look forward to seeing more videos from you in the future.

first of all hope your ankle heals soon, once i was told my arm was broken in teh ER and then a few days later after a meetign with the bone doctor, was told it wasnt broken at all.. a wekk spent in an unessacry cast, but hey i dint have to writ eanything in school haha, About the 3d totally agree i get migrains as well, saw it in 3d (only avalibale showing) had to take off my glasses and rest my eyes several times to get through it still ahd a headache afterwords, the 3d dvd thing is soo disapointing, why even do that its not the 80's thats ridiculious oh well guess they had to apply the 3D gimmick to the home release as well.. and usually thats all 3d is .. a gimmick, to me a movie needs to be good on its own merit not flashy expensive gimicks “oh how much mpney can we throw at this movie, and then have to promote and hype the hell out of it in order to make our money back.” any wyas get well soon spoony thanks …their was a beverlyhills chiwawa 2? wow.. was.. micheal vic in it? id watch that haha

  • natethedestroyer

There's a tag sticking out of your jacket which is hanging on the back of your chair. Do you have tags sticking out of your shirt also? I hear that some people do that these days to show how “cool” they are.

  • marcuslundgren

Wow, I feel kind of sorry for you.
Either you're really accident-prone or just very unlucky.
I mean, now it's foot surgery. But you also have an in-grown nail. Not to mention
how often you seem to have a cold. And then you have all those allergies.
And who can forget your “Apocalypse Now” review, where you had the terrible tooth-ache!
AND you have migraine! Is there more you haven't told us about? I hope not, because this would fill anyone's list of things
    they don't want.

Perhaps it's the fate of geniuses to have to overcome these “inconveniences” in order to produce their work?

I was born into a military family and I must say the Hurt Locker was unrealistic and complete garbage. A person that puts his boys in danger like the main character would be court marshalled immediatly and most of the movie is just unrealistic.

I would completely agree with your brother that that was the worst of the films, and I agree that watching the movie and then reading the books is a better way to do it. All but the 5,6, and 7th books I read not until after watching the movie and it was a better experience. I agree that the 6th book was kind of annoyingly weighted more on relationships rather than the bigger plot of all of the movies. The best parts are the introduction of Slughorn, Ron’s love potion problems, and the Riddle flashback, without those I’d probably hate the movie.

Dan’s acting seems at it’s worse in this film, Alan Rickman has gained a bit of weight, and it just seems like everyone is tired of being in these things a bit. Dumbledore death just appear’s cheesing and isn’t weighted right. I like Cedric’s send off better, and before that movie you never see the character. And those are without thinking of the books.

Thinking of the books… WHERE THE FUCK IS MY FIGHT SEEN! When the death eaters break into Hogwarts the books have a great fight scene in which a character is almost killed by a werewolf, in the film it isn’t there and we get a fight scene with Draco instead. Draco’s fight is okay, but I think most would have rather have had the fight at Hogwarts. Oh yah and the Burrow thing… it just confuses me. And lastly, everyone I know who likes HP has bitched but I have to restate that the subway added scene is stupid as hell. It was like 10 minutes into the movie and fans already know, something is wrong.

The purpose of this story in the series is to end the school stuff and start the quest. It had a doomed and old epic feel to it, with a few spices of comedy to lighten. I understand in the movie they wanted it to stand on its own. They kept the relationship stuff which didn’t borrow from previous arcs as much and amped the humor and then tried shove alongside it the barest obligations to the other films and the mystery plot of this book, and that’s why we don’t like it.

On a side note, I’m sick of the color blue. The first two had other colors, and it was okay. They don’t all have to be blue.

Lastly, I know a total of one, ONE, film maker or animator that likes 3D. Most of them hate it, I hate it, and I watched Coraline with those shitty 3D glasses a whole 10 minutes before I thought I’d barf. Not Good.

Sorry, I rambled. I’m obviously an HP fan.

Does your camera have a light setting so it’s not all yellow?

Half Blood Prince is DEFINITELY the best of the series! It’s such a good FILM and it cuts out bogged down exposition to make a better FILM.
