I just found out and as bad as you feel for the guy, his life went so far off the tracks…well, not much to say, something death is better? In the end death wins 100% of the time.

  • Ashenge

    –WHAT?! Holy crap!

  • geekfury

Not seen any of this actors work ( if I have I'm not aware. ) but it's a tragedy when someone dies this young. Fan or not my heart goes out to his family.

  • johnnyv123

Poor Corey. Shame too since his career was at least slightly rebounding.

  • http://twitter.com/LucasChad Lucas Allen

I'm with you man! Haven't seen any of his movies, but I'm sure his life was cut too soon!

  • Cthulhu07

Rest in peace, Corey. Rest in peace.

    My Haim Story,

He was a “celebrity guest” at a horror convention I was a vendor at. A fan brought him a poster from “License to Drive” and when he saw that Feldman signed it before him, he ripped it up in front of everyone. He was VERY rude and mean to everyone there for the whole weekend. I tried to be nice and introduce my wife to him. Well, let's just say that he was exactly the way you saw him on “The Two Coreys” Yeah his death is tragic…but did we expect it to end any other way.

He won't be remembered at the “Oscars” next year.

  • CrenshawPete

what?! that's so sudden, and he JUST finally did a big movie again,
well appeared in one, in Crank 2, that's fucking depressing. I'll have to watch the goonies, lost boys and licence to drive tonight, in memoriam.

  • TheGubbinz

Wait WTF? When did this happen? WHY HAS NO NEWS HAS REACHED ME?

  • lostsorcerer

Wow.. talk about surprise death. Prayers go out to the family. Does anyone know what did him in?

Also probably pray for the girls of Earth-982 in a not serious note :P

  • Salenstormwing

This is pretty surprising. I mean, he was only 38. Damn. I feel very old and mortal right now.

  • Lowcifur

The random quote at the top of the page when this post loaded is “Protip: Don't die.”

    So…there's that.

  • Cthulhu07

According to the Los Angeles police, he died of accidental drug overdose.

  • http://twitter.com/embryonicboy Gary Curtis

he was on your poster behind you when your dressed as a girl. you don't think that was a factor do you??

  • Anonymous

I didn’t know him that well.

    Whaaaaat!!!???

  • obscuruslupa

That sucks so bad. Despite his personal life his movies were great and he'll be missed. Nobody deserves to go out that way. Thanks for putting this up for him, Spoony.

  • Rhesus

@lowcifur: Random line header when I loaded was: “Because life, as you know it, sucks.”

On topic: Didn't know this actor. But seeing this on tse made me look him up. Didn't know any of his work, but again, looked it up… Any tips on what I should watch? I'm thinking Lost Boys maybe…

  • GeoffreyNL

So sad to see someone's life derail in such a bad way. Brad Renfro, Jonathan Brandis, now Corey Haim… makes you wonder if children should be protected from being thrown into the “Hollywood Snake Pit” at such an early age. Here in Holland we have laws that prohibit children under 15 from working more than 10 hours a week or so, meaning kids can't really start a fulltime career too soon. Knowing how to deal with “stardom” is crucial for anyone working in the entertainment industry and if I see what often becomes of those who are thrown in too early, it just scares me.

    Rest in peace, Corey :-(

  • Sol_Badguy

I think this is about 85-90% of today's Hollywood stars' or musical artists' ending to their life stories. It's predictable, but all the same, it's still sad that all their talent comes to this.

Well, ain't worth thinking about it that hard. We're alive and well, all I can say is this: for any death remember the good times, learn something from their death and move on. The more we dwell, the closer death and despair gets to us.

    • Anonymous

Wow, that just came out of nowhere. I’m…speechless. I feel numb right now. Hell, I was sitting in a classroom while I heard this. Lost Boys was one of my favorite nostalgic films of all time. I’ve got nothing.

  • Nephilim1977

Not really surprising knowing his lifestyle but sad nonetheless.
    Rest In Peace Corey!

  • http://www.facebook.com/Treima Jimi Alexander

Hard to believe the guy was going to be 39 this year.

  • aragami

    Rest in peace, Corey.
Saw his movie “Licence to drive” just recently. I liked it very much.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Treima Jimi Alexander

I don't think such a law would prohibit children from starring in movies and such. It'd just prevent them from counting it as “work” and, thus, from receiving compensation. The exploitation of child stars wasn't a known phenomenon in the '80s when Haim was making movies, but now we can see just how severe the consequences are when lots of money and impressionable youth are mixed.

  • lostsorcerer

Haven't seen License to Drive, ….Did Lost Boys have both of them in it?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Karo-Gal/100000790948267 Karo Gal

Definealty check out Lost Boys^^ It's a great movie.

  • Rhesus

Jeg stoler ikke på piger og vampyr-film, efter hele den her twilight-craze…

  • Poipoi

I know he had a troubled life with drugs and other issues, but still sad to hear he died. That is a nice picture to use for a Memoriam. Excellent taste.

    Thanks, Spoony.

  • Nephilim1977

Yup. And Kiefer Sutherland and Bill from Bill & Ted

  • vincentvendetta

I never saw any of his movies, but I learned he did star in a Sega CD game called Double Switch. Yes, he's the kid who lives in the basement of the building… Somebody needs to give you a copy of that game.

  • TimADugan

That's too bad really. My first run in with Corey was from the game Double Switch. It's not a good game, but I liked it.

  • tiggerpete

holy crap, when did Corey Haim die? this is the first I am hearing this

  • TimADugan

    Apparently just today.

  • http://www.gamespot.com/users/cornbredx CornBRED-X

Oh wow, this is the first I've heard it. My first view of him was Lost Boys as a kid. Then of course all the other “Corey's Movies”. It is a shame just from a nostalgic viewpoint as these actors from 80s will never be that popular again and sadly the only real memory of him is old 80s and early 90s movies (and maybe a few self exploitation shows that a bunch of these actors did). Shame.

  • http://www.gamespot.com/users/cornbredx CornBRED-X

Yes, watch Lost Boys- If you havent seen it. One of the best movies he and Feldman did.

  • camisado

    ………………….who?

  • Kinver

Really sad. He really started to turn himself around and was supposedly over his addictions.

  • Adog548

I didn't know him that well so sad.

    As many others said :
    This is so sad :(

  • Sexual_Tyrannosaurus

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

  • JoeRamirez

Fuck The Lost Boys! Corey's character was a little bitch in that movie much like his real-life counterpart with the inability to say no to drugs.

  • penisenvy

Hey, look: it's the cheshire cat!

  • latexpoultry

    R.I.P

  • Ruiner

How in the hell could you be a Spoony fan and not know Corey Haim? :) He, and Corey Feldman were huge in the mid-late 80s. 38 is far too young to die. I seriously hope his family, and friends get through this smoothly.

  • thehenryspock

Thirded. That's a classic, and really good to wash the 'Twilight' taste out of your mouth.

The dreaded curse befalling most child stars. RIP, Sam.

  • beeohthree

    :-/

  • ApatheticOne (the original)

    RIP Lucas/Sammie/Les/Jake/Dinger….Corey Haim.

  • CalebTheTimeTraveler

For a second there, I thought it was the good Corey, then I remember there is no good Corey, only a tolerable one, and we didn't loose him.
Sad still though. Now we'll never see another episode of The Two Coreys, but A&E will re-run all the old ones.

  • http://twitter.com/AmpDivorax AmpDivorax

I was gonna ask for a double switch Let's Riff, but this really puts a damper on things now.

  • http://twitter.com/toodarkpark Park Boyer

    RIP :(

  • lostsorcerer

How was Haim such a jerk in the two coreys? I never saw it so do ya mind explaining?

  • CalebTheTimeTraveler

He wasn't really. But you could tell he did a lot of drugs, and Feldmen didn't approve and thought it might eventually kill him. Haim didn't want him telling him how to live his life.
Really, it's not unexpected, but very tragic.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1429413036 facebook-1429413036

Oh man one of my childhood memories just died. SUCKS! I watched Larry King earlier with Corey Feldmen.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1429413036 facebook-1429413036

Its sad how Hollywood sucks you up and spits you out.

Even I don't need a weather-vain to tell which way the wind blows.

I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean, unless it’s a quote from the game. It sounds like it could be.

      • TheFeydakin

        American Mc Gee’s Alice, respectively…

My favorite was: “Those who say there’s nothing like a nice cup of tea for calming the nerves never had real tea; it’s like a syringe of adrenaline straight to the heart!”
Although I don’t remember if that was in the game itself or just on the soundtrack.

  • rosenrot234

vampire hunting with corey feldmen will never be the same now :(

  • Redbob86

May the Lord grant him peace and ever-lasting life, and my comfort be brought to his family.

  • Strelnikov

I always confused him with the other Corey….

Greatest irony; I saw “License to Drive” twice as a kid* and I forgot Corey Haim was in the movie at all; I remember the pretentious sister and the drag racing joke and what the grandfather did to Haim's parent's car, but the other Corey left no impression upon my brain. Never saw “The Lost Boys.” You may now flame me to insanity.

    RIP Mr. Haim….

Corey Haim died? I had no idea. This makes me a little more sad than a comedy site has any right to and I have no idea why. Rest in peace, other Corey.

Must see The Lost Boys again.

  • Ruiner

While this is still only speculation in my opinion I have seen, and read several news bits “identifying” his revolving door heroin addiction being responsible. It would appear Haim died in a similar set of events as Sid Vicious. Apparently Haim had been clean for some time, probably did not realize his bodies tolerance had been lost, and used too much. The only positive part about dying in that manner is that you personally do not suffer. Heroin is hell to kick, and really all you can hope for is others learning from his mistake. RIP Corey, I found a great deal of entertainment in your films as a child, so thank you.

  • http://www.pornhub.com TheStiffmeister

    who?

  • SethTheXenocide

I have to agree that this is a good picture for an 'In Memoriam' post. Corey at his most innocent. It's a sad time.

And I used to make Corey & Corey jokes. I don't know if I can do that anymore. It's like when Ike Turner died. I couldn't make an “I'll beat you like Ike beat Tina” joke for a long time.

  • http://twitter.com/startiller startiller

Out of him and Feldman, he would be the one I'd baby :(

My poor Corey H. *sobs a bit*

  • hadokenboom25

Man, I feel like part of my childhood is gone. How am I supposed to fight vampires and join the football team now?

  • 1337pete

I like Joyride. Or whatever that movie was that he did with that other Corey and it was a comedy of errors in a car.

  • rpm297

As Gene Wilder (Willie Wonka)- One naughty, nasty little Corey gone. One good, sweet little Corey left…”

Loved him in the vamp flick, and Silver Bullet too.. RIP,bro
