  • somefatgingerguy

you're moving up in the world spoonster, good for you. Eventually, you won't even need the site, you should get your own fucking TV channel. I hope you enjoy yourself at E3 dude,

p.s. make arrangements to come to britain sometime, your british fans desperatley want to meet you

  • http://twitter.com/CMDBob Martyn Mees

I hope you visit the Valve booth, I know I could get any news about it from other sites, but I kinda wanna hear the news from you. Anyway, awesome stuff.

Wow, you're really getting to go to E3? That's friggin awesome.

Would you mind taking a look at Star Wars The Old Republic while you're there? This is probably the last E3 before it launches, and since it purportedly has a bigger budget than any other MMO ever (maybe even any other game) it will probably be a big highlight of E3 already.

Also, sounds like you've got a lot of stuff planned, but try not to overwhelm yourself. You might just want to put some ideas on the backburner until you've executed some of your current projects. The last thing we want is to give you an ulcer since you've run out of time delivering on a project you've promised. :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Travis-Kruse/1583028314 Travis Kruse

Awesome news Spoony, congratz on the gig! Bout time you get a break into the media, you deserve it! Look forward to seeing what you can show us. That is so lame E3 is not open to the public, or I would totally be there to check out the babez and games and try and meet yah. It's even more frustrating because I live in LA. grrrrrrr : /

You should try and make it to the San Diego Comic Convention if you can! It is soooooooooooooooo awesome!

  • TitanCreed

Hire me as a cameraman! I live in LA (Chatsworth in San Fernando, actually) and will work for spoon fulls of peanut butter. You can also stay at my place. Rent can be payed in spoon fulls of jam.

Oh darn, here i was hoping you would announce Spooning With Spoony 3: Dessert Storm. (Yes, i meant to use that dessert)
Haha im really looking forward to all the hard work you are doing!
    Keep up the good work!

  • http://twitter.com/nightcobra Leandro Ribeiro

those are really good news spoony, as for deadliest character have you considered a royal battle between artificial intelligences, just to name a few:
    GLaDOS from portal
A.D.A from zone of the enders series
    HAL from space odyssey
President John Henry Eden from Fallout 3
    GW from MGS2

dr insano uploads their software into one giant battle arena where each AI will have control of an army and every army would be the same, the only difference would be the tactics used by each AI.

    let the CHAOS BEGIN.

  • jade_Knight

Wow, those are a lot of awesome projects, man, also nice review and first impressions, keep up the good work! And congratulations on the E3 pass, dude, don't worry about the coverage, you can do it!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Adam-Duffles-Duffield/1351718417 Adam 'Duffles' Duffield

I hope one of those two game videos is Final Fantasy X part 2 :P:P

  • MFlorian

I got into E3's 10th Anniversary on a press pass before. You may think it's not open to the public, but it will be swamped. The press get to get their badges on the day before everyone else, but they only let you into the press room. If you want computer space, you'd better camp out ahead of time. It will be that clogged.

Passes are given out to anyone who works in gaming. Expect to see people who simply work at gaming stores there. Zoo doesn't begin to describe it.

    But there is a plus:

People sporting a press pass get free food and drinks from gaming company booths. I'm not kidding. It's totally sucking up, but third party controller manufacturers made sure I had a soft drink when I was there. (Trust me, E3 sells them to non-press at prices that put movie theaters to shame.)

Have a good time and get more than one tote bag when they're offered. Swag fills them up FAST.

OH! And remember to make some press cards. Game companies will trade them for press content media discs. They usually have artwork and other stuff from the games on them. Do. Not. Forget. This.

    Have a good time!

What else can u ask for? Spoony giving you E3 updates! Thats awesome!!

  • http://twitter.com/kitlerc Colin

Holy Hell! I'll be at E3 as well (not press though, so you'll have much more to do) I hope to see you and the crew there!

  • Ithilgore

It's a good time to be a Spoony fan.

Deadliest Character, E3, board games, Deadly Premonition and more to come.

Hell it's just a good time to be Spoony :P

  • matsern

Hey, thats good news, Noah! I'm looking forward to watch your take on E3. Playing RDR atm online, and I can guarantee you all that it is awesome. Imo better than the Uncharted 2 MP. I'll purchase Alan Wake this fall I think. Games are expensive, and I need to buy Starcraft 2 on release.

And ofc, I'm looking forward to part 2 of ffX. Don't stress too much, Spoony. None of us will profit if you get overworked and sick and tired of making videos.

  • Cthulhu07

This whole E3 thing sounds more than great. Congratulations, man. You're really going places now :D

We can't wait to see what you bring back

    FF XIII ROCKS!!!!!

Can't wait to see you at Daisho Con :D

  • ZoobulousZoob

    Awesome! Talk about hype!

  • http://twitter.com/LucasChad Lucas Allen

I already said this on my Twitter page, but my biggest memory of Dennis Hopper was his performance as Howard Payne in the 1994 action classic Speed. He's so amazing with his rocking personality and witty one-liners, which I'll miss the most. In tribute to him, here's the movie's most famous line.

“Pop quiz, hotshot! There's a bomb on a bus! Once the bus goes 50 miles an hour, the bomb is armed. If it drops below 50, it blows up! What do you do? WHAT DO YOU DO?

  • jamesswiftday

No mention of the SWAT 4 expansion :(

  • Akuosa

More like, it's a good time to be a Spoony fan… not so much to be Spoony, considering all the work he has and will have to do xD

  • http://twitter.com/TigerGD Michael Sylvester

Take a voice recorder (or use your iPhone's) for taking notes. E3 can be overwhelming, and I guarantee you your first day there will be a mess. But once you get the layout down, you can plan better and make better use of your time. The show's a lot of fun if you don't have to work the whole time, so it's better to have more people that you can split up duties between. Make sure you take a lot of business cards, as you'll be making a lot of contacts.

  • http://www.facebook.com/canadianbacon967 Taylor Troxtel

Spoony you need to hit up a convention in LA so your fans here can meet you. I'd stand outside E3 all day and wait… but no I don't want to be a stalker lol. But yeah dude LA convention please.

  • JeanJacket

Wow! Congratulations on getting into E3! Awesome. Have fun :D

Also, I wasn't sure if you meant you were still trying to get into more conventions, or if you were already done looking, but if you ARE still considering more – I'd second the person in the blip comments who suggested Youmacon.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Benn-Crawford/501266663 Benn Crawford

    Lol, nice Trigun Reference.

    Best of Luck at E3!

  • Iaro

Though I'm not a gamer, this sounds pretty awesome!
Also, if you want to check out some other cons, please consider Dragon*con, down here in Atlanta. Whether in a TGWTG delegation or by yourself, that would be awesome!

  • jewbagel

Congrats on all the new opportunities Spoony. Great news, really looking forward to your coverage. Like someone else commented, I'd also recommend picking up some kind of voice recorder on top on your camera, pen and paper and whatever else. Having one of those have saved me tons of times just in regular life.

You brought up a good point about RDR, the game is great and all that, but Marston really was a bit of a wussy. Especially for someone with his past. I know there's always a bit of a disconnect in crazy free roam land of Rockstar, but with this game they did make it a bit more serious so it's more noticeable. Also about PoP, Two Thrones was my favourite game too. I don't know why it's seemingly shunned so much… but it's a weird series, never quite reaching its complete potential. I kind of liked the 2008 version too though, so I'm a bit blasphemous I suppose.

I've been looking forward to seeing you doing some board game stuff since you mentioned it a while ago. Hope you can get it all worked out.

  • http://www.gamespot.com/users/cornbredx CornBRED-X

Grats on the E3 thing Spoony. Hope you didnt take my comment on DP to mean I think your rippingoff Giant Bomb, I dont. I just thought it was crazy coincidence and I do want to see your reactions to it; if nothing else the story in that game is worth experiencing.

Wow its cool how many decent/good games came out last month. Even spoony recommends 'em. Thats quite a feat when a developer can say that =P
Anyway, cant wait for more videos. I'm sure they will be awesome.

  • QuetzaDrake

Just to let you know, Spoony, the next FF installment is 14, which is another MMORPG like 11, but supposedly better in a variety of ways. Would be nice to get more details on that. However, if there's a 15 already getting planned and shown off at E3, that'd be the real shocker to everyone.

  • http://nfgaming.com Nsane

Wow. I hope he hits the Valve and Bioware booths.

  • http://twitter.com/RookeeAlding Rookee Alding

Wow. I've never been to Any conventions but I hear that one is one of the better ones to go to if you can get in.

I could see this being a new feature on your site. A news like segment on the new stuff coming out. Granted It would be a little more serious, but that's fine.

This could open the door to more press passes.

I've read some of the comments before me and agree that you should bring a voice recorder and media/business cards. Not that I have any experience but they both sound like really good ideas.

  • AlexanderRO

So no more PS3 love? :( Also, pretty awkard excuse to Dennis Hopper. Because, unfortunalely, I heard that Dennis Hopper passed away recently. I hope it's not true

  • http://twitter.com/maskdmirag Chris Rider

I went to E3 about every year before they changed the first time. Kinda lost my old hookups, but it's an awesome experience, you're gonna love it! if I manage to sneak in this year i'll keep an eye out for you guys.

  • Caelan

    Isn't FF14 pretty much FF11-2?

Hit up The Knights of the Old booth :D I think they're supposed to have a playable demo there.

  • allessander

Hey Noah, if you ever feel like playing another new game, and enjoy LOADS of C&C (choices and consequences), then I STRONGLY recommend Alpha Protocol. It has a strong Deus Ex vibe regarding it's C&C, the plot is great, the characters feel really fleshed-out and interesting, and the graphics are decent. Sure, the AI might be a bit dumb at times and the game has a few (mind you, the keyword here is few) bugs, but I believe it's still very worth it.

Don't mind the low scores off the various gaming sites such as IGN and co, Obsidian probably didn't have enough money to bribe off some 9/10 reviews at the end of it, so what can you do.

All in all, I'm very excited to see your War of the Rings videos, and your Ultima based series, as well as your FFX review continued. Seems like there are some good days ahead of us in spoonyland!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Adam-Higgins/503942220 Adam Higgins

I've been playing Red Dead Redemption without the aim assist, but I just find myself using Dead Eye all the time. I'm trying to ween myself off of that just to raise up the difficulty a bit though.

Other than that, such a great game.

  • http://twitter.com/Ictiv György Somorjai

Well what is there to say? Hope you'll enjoy E3 (I'd bring a bullet proof vest to the FF stand if I were you).

I don't know why but i kinda feel bad for you. I mean when you start taking brakes from games… That's bad. I think you should really take a week off or something sometime. That's what summers were invented no? :)

So anyway. Keep on rocking, and all the best! (Again: if you find yourself chased by angry nerds wielding plastic gun swords and torches… Just run towards the group of guys wearing fake goatees and swirly goggles. They'll help you out.)

P.S.: Sometimes I really curse my luck for boring in to that one country where everyone is too 'snob' to play board games after the age of 14.

  • Ithilgore

Yeah but I'm sure he's going to have fun doing at least some of the work. Why else would he do half of what he does?

  • nuclearaptor

“I AM THE GOD OF BLOOD!” made me lol hard.

I'm really happy to hear you're trying out Alan Wake. We Finns seldom make good games *cough* Max Payne *cough*, but Alan Wake is a really big exception to the rule. Also, good luck with E3. Go Spoony, go!

  • Tai_MT

WOOT! So awesome that you're going to E3. Live the dream man! You're going to the one place on earth I'd love to visit before I die! Congrats! HAVE FUN ON OUR BEHALF!

WOOHOO! Spoony covering E3, confirmation of more FFX (I thought he forgot about it) and more Let's Plays! Plus James Rolfe helping with Deadliest Character!
Also, why are you disgracing your picture from Kickassia by putting it on the same shelf as Johnny Mnemonic?

  • http://twitter.com/nightcobra Leandro Ribeiro

there's agood reason why john marston helps people.
he once said in the game:
“in this land we live together or die alone”

  • http://twitter.com/alzwded Vlad Mesco

Send us fans a post card reading “Hellos from E3 — sucks for you you couldn't come, unlike me” :P

  • LegendoftheSkies

Congrats on getting to go to E3.

Should be interesting seeing your coverage. I'm especially curious to see what you'll think of Nintendo's conference since you don't seem to cover much if any of the Nintendo side of things.

  • http://twitter.com/c1catwoman caty

Good for you, I'm so happy for you! Can't wait to see the clips!

  • Vinny1138

Congratulations Spoony, Looking forward to see coverage from your perspective.

I may eventually buy Red Dead Redemption, since I don't think I ever owned any western themed game.

  • Vinny1138

Congratulations Spoony, I cant wait to see the entire coverage from your perspective.

I may eventually buy Red Dead Redemption, since I don't think I've owned any western themed game.

  • terminaldogma667

Way to go Spoony! Wow, I haven't been to E3 since I worked for Gamestop. Luckily I did go the year that Metal Gear 2 was being launched and (even though the game sucked) John Carpenter's The Thing. Why was this good? Because Carpenter himself was there promoting it so I got an autographed poster. Word of advice, Spoonster, as far as swag goes, there's a shitload of it, so be ready to carry extra suitcases of the stuff home. Looking forward to your review!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Zerpy-Norway/760066368 Zerpy Norway

Wow… you have too many projects going on at once man… your hair will turn grey in no time if you keep this up.
Good for us though XD Can never get enough of spoony.

    You should go to PAX!

Now you gotta play Red Dead Revolver. :D

  • AGentertainment

Great news, Spoony. I'm a big fan. Wouldn't want to take too much of your time, but maybe I could get an interview?

Anyway, that's great news. Hope to see you there.

  • Renaissance_nerd

good and actual unbiased gamers opinion on E3, screw G4 im tuning to the Spoony Joe Show E3 live!

  • http://echo-hotel.pip.verisignlabs.com/ Echo_Hotel

VALVE for the love of GOD don't miss Valve.
Taunting us with their cryptic radio transmissions in Portal and the BIG SURPRISE AT E3 announcement.
If anyone knows nerds it Valve.

  • goodguya

Oh, our dear Spoony. You're too good to us. We're probably not going to see any single one of those for a long time, but this Vlog is excellent for biding us over.

I hope you get some good incite on E3. You hear about the Portal 2 surprise?

A board game review is a rather awkward sort of thing. Set it low on a tripod nearby so we can watch a round, but always read out what's going on.

AVG vs Linkara. Excellent nerdom. There's going to be better animation? That guy is kick ass.

I hope, if anything, you get the FFX up first. Don't start stuff before you get on with your more popular stuff!!!

    Hehe… Game reviews.

The Ultima series? Ever consider contacting GT about it?

  • pawcanada84

Bill Williamson…? Maybe it was different back then but I wouldn't name my kid William. William Williamson just sounds so…. Odd.

Anyway, I had a feeling it might be something like this and it's awesome news :D! Congrats Spoony! Looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

  • DrForrester

Spoony, JewWario AND Angry Joe? That's gonna be fucking awesome!

  • xKyuudenx

man, I concur with the idea that I'd much rather follow the Spoony / Angry Joe / JewWario brigade at E3 as compared to anyone else, if only due to the combined awesomeness!
Although I have no real desire to play Star Wars: TOR I'd still like to hear your thoughts on it (I've seen enough mmo's tank that were supposed to be the “WoW killer”…even though I play FFXI over WoW), and although I have this sinking feeling that I don't think I'm going to appreciate FF XIV over FFXI (because graphical updates arent anything, and i already LIKED the class choices and adjustments the games made over time) and that we'll probably share different views…once again… still interested in hearing what you have to say!
Lookin forward to all the content thats comin up, and have a blast at E3 man :D

  • mixmastermind

I think the thing with John getting bossed around is that he really doesn’t have the connections to get to the people he’s looking for. He’s dependent on all of these people, so they’ve got him by the balls.

  • http://www.facebook.com/LordMalvern Brian Puschell

I can tell you from firsthand experience that the first E3 you go to is overwhelming but man is it ever so much fun!
    My advice:

Those three days are going to go by really fast so you better come up with an itinerary and stick to it otherwise you won't get to see everything you want to see.

If there is something that you want to see that you know will be popular go to it on the first day right when the doors open. On the first day of E3 2006, I went straight for the Nintendo booth and only had to stand in line for an hour before being able to try out the Nintendo Wii. By the end of the first day, the line for the Wii went all the way around the conference hall and it only got marginally better as the conference went on.

Be prepared for high food prices, even outside the convention center. Bring a lunch or take the bus to a spot further downtown. That said, there is one place that isn't very expensive that I highly recommend: The Pantry Cafe. It's within walking distance of the convention center and hasn't changed much since it opened in the 1920s so bring cash. I recommend the bacon and cheese omelet.

Also, you should know that Valve and LucasArts usually operate in private conference rooms and normally don't have a booth on the show floor, however you can usually find their games playable on the show floor at the Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo booths.

Also Square-Enix doesn't allow pictures in parts of their booth.

You can turn off auto-target on Red Dead Redemption, I did this all the way through and it isn't that hard once you get used to it, though I would suggest turning sensitivity all the way up if you do use it.

Blue Velvet ftw. One of the greatest films of all time.

  • http://twitter.com/Anjuneko Anjuneko

Spoony, I'm wondering why you're going. I can't think of a single time I'd thought “I wonder what spoony thinks of this new game” so going under the pretenses that “now I'm press, I might as well go” is complete BS. If I want coverage of E3 I'll go to any one of a dozen other sites to see what's coming out.

Putting all of the other projects on hold under the pretenses of 'E3 coverage from spoony' is crap simply because you've wormed your way into getting your press pass. This is clearly an event you've personally wanted to go to for a long time. You're not going to bring us new information, most of the big announcements had been leaked months ago, Last of all the projects we HAVE all been waiting for are now on hold (AGAIN!) simply so you can play with your friends at E3 and feel you're doing something important.

But why is everyone excited? “Sorry guys, all projects are on hold, I'm going to E3!” There's going to be so much coverage as is. Most other outlets will have better equipment, cameras, interviews and access to demos. All of the trailers will be available the DAY OF on other sites. Spoony, the reviews that you do hardly reflect what's new and current. In fact, your presentation of that older material is what makes it so funny!

Honestly, he's abandoning you all to take a personal vacation. You should all feel betrayed

  • http://twitter.com/Dane1979 Dane Kirstine

Wow, I'm really happy for you! Good luck at E3 and I'll be excited to see it from the Spoony perspective.

Also, here's hoping you'll get invited to a public venue over on the east coast. :)

As a long time Ultima fan since it was my first real RPG (unless playing that D&D 1st person game on my cousin's Mattel Aquarius on Thanksgiving 85 without having the slightest clue about what it was counts) in 1988 on a Commodore 64 I can say I will SERIOUSLY be awaiting the Ultima video.

(Though this is a general thing for the entire video review/feature folks out there. Y'all do NOT have to continually apologize for being busy or not getting to things. Even though in many cases yer gettin some cash for the work, its still effectively FREE ENTERTAINMENT. Do it as you can and don't worry about if it takes a while. For the most part the wait tends to be worth it! Kickassia was pretty rad, and it sort of makes my brain hurt at the sheer amount of effort that went into it all.)

AG! For some strange reason I didn't think you were a follower of Spoony! Would love to see your interview with him on your channel! BTW, best to say this now, dude. I like the current style you're going with on your movie reviews, it's raw and it's seems like you're really expressing a natural reaction to the movie and still making it entertaining. While your old style was legit and formal, your new style is definitely more fun to watch, so please stick with that! And keep up the good work, dude!

  • sassamura

Yea, yea I can already see a SNOB looking in your eyes yea, yea haha… Pratice Spoony, be ready you do a good work dude.

And also you could interview Squareenix guys, and make some hot questions that everyone wanna know, you know, that kind of enganging reporter, not being rude, of course, just ask that things what people wanna know but no one asks. You are a gamer, you know what is to be in our skin (gamers)

    Good lucky

    Grats on E3!

I have lost my faith in Squaresoft ever since final fantasy 10. Everything they do has become sort of shallow anime, emo stuff.

As for deadly premonition, I think you will be in for s surprise. Although I do think you should really not concentrate on the horror aspect, that really doesn't seem to be the fixation of the game, even agent York isn't that impressed or fazed by it in game. It's more about the mystery and the characters. The driving really is not that bd, and if you do skip out on it, I think a big part of being in an open real time world will get lost. SO I would say, dont skip the driving. Also, get the infinite machinegun. It really does not detract from the horror, it will just make combat less tedious.

    Have fun at E3!

    Spoony is my Jesus.

  • Akuosa

Even if he was to go to E3 only for personal reasons and to have a good time and not doing anything else in the time being… you talk as if he couldn't just do that. He can, you know? He could leave everything on hold for a month to go suntan in the goddamn beach too, if he would want to, for example.

I follow the E3 every year in the specialized websites, and yet I like the idea of being able to see Spoony's videos this year too. It's a diferent kind of coverage.

I completely agree with Anjuneko. I call bullshit on this whole thing. Spoony a member of the “video game media?” Yeah right. If he's allowed to go, then everyone who “mentions” a video game once in a while on their website should be allowed to go too. I mean, you guys DO realize that the ONLY video game related material on his front page is a live recorded walk-through of a video game…..something that ANY 12 year old could do too. And I'm sure he only threw it together because the E3 guys were gonna verify his site! Spoony doesn't review in detial brand new games. He doesn't write in-depth articles about games on the horizon. He rarely even has a decent video review of a new game, showing in-game footage. The most he gives us regarding new games is an occasional “v-log”. Oh, wow, that's totally media. Seriously, I fail to see how this grants you exclusiveness above others. And for those saying, “Hey, he's going to have fun! So what?” Sorry, but thats not what its about. Sure, E3 itself is fun, but it's not about going to play around…….it's meant for industry professional and ACTUAL members of the media that specifically cover games (IGN, Gamespot)……you seriously consider yourself to be in a similar category? Come on. Face it Spoony, you're going to have fun with your friends and enjoy yourself. You truly need to get over yourself if you think you're a valid member of the video game media. You're an internet comedian (an a good one) who sometimes does video games. To consider yourself “higher” than that is absurd.

Bravo, Spoony. That is fucking awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing your stuff. I'm really excited for you :D.

Not sure if you should wear the Final Fantasy VIII Sucks T-shirt though :P. Next FF is gonna be the new Online game, but maybe, just maybe, they'll start showing FFXV.

Have a great time at E3 my good man.

  • Tywall52345

I never comment, but I wanted to say something about Red Dead Redemption. It helps with Marston if you look at him as Eastwood from Unforgiven. He's a guy who can kick ass, but has changed his ways for his wife and family. He's really being forced to do this. And the Mexican warlord gets his comeuppance.
With Alan Wake, true the enemy variety is limited, but how they mix together is where the challenge is. Sure you got the small fast guys and the big ax guys, but put them together and totally different tactics are needed.

I wish I could go to E3, have a good time there man! Congrats!

  • Joon_Studios

Congratulations Spoony. Don't stress out though. I don't think Square is going to show Final Fantasy XV at E3 since from my calculations it should come out in 6 or more years. They might show Final Fantasy Versus XIII and XIV ONLINE. I'm more excited about Dead Rising 2, Fable III, Persona 5, Gears of War 3, Quantic Dream's next game, Zelda Wii, and hopefully a brand new original title. Also, you shoould review Heavy Rain since you mention it a lot. I though it was excellent and the best ame I've played for a looooooooonnnnnng time. Probably one of my favorite titles. I hope you have a great time at E3. I'm not a big Rockstar fan. I also am starting a company. I'm writing a book, making a NO budget movie, and a game.

  • Joon_Studios

I also am trying to get into Dungeons and Dragons. Preferably Advanced. How should I begin?

  • Drach

I'm excited to see deadliest character, I'm also glad to hear that James Rolfe is involved! He is quite knowledgeable about Godzilla lore.

  • Joon_Studios

James Rolfe is great!!! I do think his AVGN character is dying out. Not that funny anymore. I got a kick out of his latest video but it's really getting old in my opinion.

Seriously… what's the matter? He can literally do whatever he wants, he doesnt have a contract with you. If you are so much pissed about this, then don't watch his E3 videos and stay away from the site for a while.

  • kefkaesque

I'm definitely more interested to hear Spoony and Angry Joe's take on E3 than anyone from IGN, Gametrailers or Gamespot.

Also, you seem to think that video game journalism is somehow elite or prestigious or that E3 is some kind of sacred event that only the chosen should witness. That's funny.

  • mkfan1602

Cool :) Glad to hear FF 10 Review is still in the works

  • awaytohit

You got to play Super Mario Galaxy 2 when you will have the time! Best game this gen (gameplay wise)

  • Con_Fu

Just promise you will work on your interviewing skills. Have fun Spoony.

  • RickyButler

Unless you full on hate 3D Mario, I also recommend checking SMG2 out. I was skeptical of it, not at all being a fan of the first Galaxy, and was even bored in the beginning because I wanted to dislike it, but by the end I'm happy to count it among Mario's finest moments. I'd still say RDR is slightly better…maybe. Can't decide.

I'm surprised you didn't comment on the perfectly-executed anticlimactic psychout with Dutch. I thought that was ****ing beautiful. Whole game builds up to this moment, finally reaching Dutch, camera zooms in and does a sweep of the area, an area resembling a groan-inducing bossfight arena, with Dutch taking control and ready to give you a good Gatling (haw haw), and 5 seconds later you shoot out a lantern and what seemed like the final showdown runs off to commit suicide.

And then the downer of an ending with Jack, life ruined, following wrongly in his father's footsteps, left broken and alone as a doomed symbol of the western era about to close. Poor guy. Ain't gonna last long with all that technology rolling in.

Great game. Biggest fault I'd give it is miserable pacing of an otherwise brilliant story. Those guys just had so many great ideas they didn't know how to put them all together right, I think. And who the hell was Javier Escuela? That guy's entire existence in the game was tacked on and pointless. Now what they need to do is make a game centered around Landon Rickett's (is that right?) 19th c. exploits. Oh yeah, that'd be awesome.

A E3 rep we can count on

  • TotallyNotBob

It makes him money. He does have to put effort into it or we won't visit, and he is out some bucks. Don't pretend this is some altruistic relationship and spoony is entertaining us purely out of the goodness of his heart. Dude's making ze cash off us.

Not anything wrong with that, mind, but don't misrepresent what's happening.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1143553858 Paul McKenzie

Im not saying he does this for altruistic reasons, im just saying that surely he could make more money doing a 9-5 (or whatever else). He makes a living off the site yes, but im sure its not huge amounts. Besides, he is making money now, but at the start he wasnt, and it was costing him. If he was doing this purely to make a living then wouldnt he have given up then?

  • StryderKain

Hey Spoony, as someone who has done Media work for IGN and other small sites for E3, you'll have a blast, however as you mentioned Square, be careful there, as depending who exactly you are, you will not be greeted with open arms. Media coverage is restricted to whom they deem and they WILL stop you from shooting, period. No photography either. They're not exactly the nicest people and it's a real let down, so do not expect much. Don't even try to get media of their games at Sony's booth or where ever, SE goons will be around watching like hawks. However, Nintendo is the nicest group of guys you will ever meet and from my experience, really listened to you and your thoughts. Hell, even the voice actor for Mario was a great guy and remembered me both years I went. Great, great people, you'll have a blast.

Don't worry about getting your Media pass, it's a short process and enjoy all the free stuff. As a protip, for even more free stuff, flash your badge at the counters of booths and request a Press Kit if they have one. Be prepared to hand over a business card as payment possibly, although this may've all changed in the few years. Also, Media is not as “compensated” as you'd think man, do not think it'll be royalties all about. There'll be a TON of you covering stuff, but enjoy it, definitely a fun experience. Enjoy!

  • labeth

(First time commenting, so, hi, I suppose!) Have fun at E3, man! I bet it'll be tiring, yet awesome.

I'd have to say, regarding the lack of diversity in Alan Wake, I'm at Chapter 3 at this point, and I haven't found it to be too much of an issue. Sure, it's the same 3 loggers fighting you every time, but considering you can barely see them anyway, it's not exactly a sticking point. The one criticism I've had so far is that the lip synch is TERRIBLE. It's no “Tidus attempts to evoke emotion, looks like a terrifying plastic monkey” but it can be slightly jarring, especially from the wife.

If you've just gone through the first chapter, though, the chapters get significantly longer thereafter. I was thinking it would be fairly short as well, but had to quit last night at 2 AM after being like “well, I'm sure I'm almost at the end of the chapter” for… oh, about two hours. But anyway, glad to hear your thoughts on it, and will try to comment more in the future.

  • Daenske

  • Joon_Studios

I don't understand why people are reccomending Super Mario Galaxy 2. I rather play Final Fantasy XIII. I really feel like Nintendo is running out of ideas. SMG2 is a by the books sequal. It's like a modern day Mega Man sequal. The same old stuff with some new ideas. I prefer original concepts. The only game I think would be fun to redo was Dead Rising. Don't listen to these guys. Heavy Rain is the game I reccomend. I seriously mean it. Nintendo has no new fresh ideas. They're running off of 25 year olf franchises.

  • Joon_Studios

I don't get why you hate FFX so much. I thought of it as a good RPG and revolutionary at the time. I played it recently after my dad reccomended it. It's one of his fovorite PS2 games for these reasons.
1.It was his first PS2 game.
2.FFVII was the first FF game to come to Korea which is where he came from.
3.It was his 4th FF game.
4.Mom got it for him with the PS2.
5.He liked the characters and cutscenes.
6.He found it better than FFVII.
Funny story. My mom didn't give him a memory card when she got the PS2 and the game. He had to replay the first 3 hours over and over each day when he sat down to play. He eventually got a memory card. EVENTUALLY. Congrats on E3, but could you please help me get into AD&D.

  • Rascalking0

Wow….apparently no one is allowed to voice any criticism here whatsoever or else we get our comments deleted. What a free and open community we have here…..delete any opinions that differ from your own….awesome! I actually had to post this from a different IP! Man o man, do they hate the free thinkers here or what? I personally find it very hypocritical that someone who makes his career out of tearing apart and ranting about different movies/shows/games, refuses to allow any negative comments about him or his work whatsoever on the site. What kind of Mickey Mouse organization do you think you're running here? Anyway, here is what I wrote before it got deleted:

No, he can't “postpone videos as long as he wants” because people will stop coming here and also he”ll lose any credability as “a member if the media”. You know what that means? It means he'll lose money.

Also, have no fear, no matter how many people trash talk him, he won't be quitting the spoony experiment any time soon. Do you people seriously think he does this out if the kindness of his heart? He does it because its a fun job that makes him money. Do you honestly think he'd stop doing it and go to a 9-5 job like the rest of us for the same pay just because some people piss him off? Not likely. What would you rather do? Have a desk job at some office or stay at home and get paid to watch movies and play games and then post an occasional v-log that keeps the site going, creates revenue (from ads in the video) and doesn't take any work whatsoever. Why the hell would anyone want to quit that? Jesus, you ass kissers seem to think he isn't getting anything out of this. Do you guys not see the ads on the site? Do you not see the ads on his videos? He makes a little bit every time you watch one. He will continue doing this until he no longer makes money from it. And when that day comes, you will never see another video again. You guys thinking he's some kind of philanthropist are either retarded or just very very ignorant.

Oh and btw, I AM going to E3 because I ACTUALLY work in the industry (major video game publisher).

“Oh and btw, I AM going to E3 because I ACTUALLY work in the industry (major video game publisher).”

Yes, e3 is worth it, and awesome… I'd been going for years, until last year's mistake (rage!), couldn't make it this year cause of moving but definitely check out the foreign/little people's hall (originally the west, then 'Kentia hall' or something like that, in the concourse below south… now, who knows?)
swag was a little luke-warm two years ago.. so here's hoping they upped the ante for your trip.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Brian-Jesse/27708921 Brian Jesse

uh…. he does this for donations. It's primarily an overblown hobby. The fact that he has enough clout, to validate a media pass to e3 just goes to show what an overblown hobby can become, if you work at it.

  • http://twitter.com/nightcobra Leandro Ribeiro

and saying that what he does doesn't require any kind of work just shows how ignorant you are, gathering material and footage, editing and much more is harder than it seems. there's constructive criticism which is to point spoony's flaws so he can strive for a better performance on his next videos and then there's just plain hate, and you sir fill the latter description in its entirity. good day sir

  • Rascalking0

Haha, he does it for fan donations? Your ignorance astounds me, seriously. So I suppose you think he got his own place and all his top line equipment from fan donations alone? Get real. Why do you think the mods are so quick to delete any and all negative remarks about him or his site? It's so people like you will continue to think he's working hard and for free just to delight his fans, when in fact, this couldn't be further from the truth. The last thing he wants to have happen is turn people away from the site, then he'll lose money.

Do you guys not see the ads all over the site and in the videos? I assure you, they're not there for show. I mean, the guy puts more priority on booking convention appearances then he does working on projects. What does that tell you? Its about making money, first and foremost. Those of you who “feel sorry for him” because he's “working so hard” are seriously living in la-la land.

Oh, and to the other poster who claims Spoony works very hard making videos, you mean the one in every 20 videos he posts that ISN'T a v-log? Seriously, he made some great stuff back in the day. Now most of his videos are either 20 minute v-logs which only consist of his random ramblings or recycled you-tube clips and maybe once in a blue moon we'll get an actual Spoony video. So basically, he works hard to make a video once or twice a month. Yeah, thats totally media.

    • http://twitter.com/Skyann9 Angelique Thomas

My god, What the hell is wrong with you? Don’t you think he’s allowed to have a little of free time away from working on the videos? I actually FEEL bad for you because it actaully seems as though your jealous of him! Why would you spew so much crap on a comment section if all you want to do is get notice. And if you are with a major video game publisher, why the hell are you trolling around here? Also, not all of the comments that say something bad about him are deleted by the moderator, sometimes thier deleted by other people or even the ones that wrote it. I hope you feel better about yourself and go do something other than trashing a V-Log.

  • http://twitter.com/nightcobra Leandro Ribeiro

i have to say, for a person in the industry which i really doubt you are, are behaving very unprofessionally.
seriously you treat us fans like we're sheep what we really want is to have fun or be entertained for a while. we all know he won't be doing this forever so we're making the most of it while it lasts, even if it is a vlog he has the charisma to make it interesting and sometimes some funny blunders. bottom line, if you don't like the site and spoony it's ok there's no problem with that, just don't start bashing the site and it's community for enjoying it.

  • jewbagel

Wow do you ever have a stick up your ass. Are you seriously treating E3 as some gentleman's club where only “real” media are allowed to enter? Give me a break. He asked for a pass and they gave him one. You expect him not jump at that chance? Half of the people there are probably faux internet media. It's not a prestigious event, they had glorified “dancers” walking around for you guys only a few years ago.

Also he isn't postponing shit. He already said he's working hard on the next FFX review and many others before he leaves. And this is only going to give him more footage and ideas for future videos. Yes, he makes money from it. We all know this, why are you harping on it?

Why are you even commenting? You don't even sound like a fan, just a troll. Real professional, Mr. Major Video Game Publisher.

Meant to be a reply to Rascalking0.

You mean the ads that pay a massive TOTAL of $21 per day? Those ads? Since, you know, Project Wonderful is very hidden with how much they pay. And he got a $2000 donation from a fan. He posted about it, even.

In addition, if he really was going around “deleting comments all around”, then why does yours still exist?
And why did you have an exact copy of your comment lying around? Is it because you were sure it would be deleted and wanted to stick it to him, or did you never actually post it in the first place?

  • pandaemonium

Instead of getting into first edition (which is what AD&D is), why not try out 3.5E? Maybe even 4E, if that floats your boat, but it's far removed from what classic D&D is.

  • Rascalking0

Yeah buddy, I'm not sure where you're looking but Spoony charges 800 a month for a standard size ad and 3400 a month for a large one. You also forget about the revenue from the video ads. He makes plenty from that alone. Safe to say the guy does pretty well for himself.

Oh, and yes, him and his crew do delete any negative comments posted (this one will surely be too). Not allowed to voice any disparaging remarks around these parts. Go a page over and you”ll see “comment removed” a few times.

  • Dr_Peace

Jesus Spoony (who could also probably look like Jesus if he wanted…), I've never seen anyone pull off 'on top of the world' and 'gasping for air' so well.

The E3 news is fantastic, the numerous projects sound just as good. If you want my advice,

    DON'T PISS AROUND WITH LIVEBLOGGING.

Everyone does it, and fact is there is NO WAY in hell it can match the live video service IGN, Gametrailers and so on can put up. We come here for your opinion so give us exactly that. Have a sweet time with Angry Joe, show us some footage and reactions and just stick some commentary (maybe as a group) with your personal opinions on top of it. No need to rush, you can polish it as much as you want and nobody would be disappointed.

    My opinion anyway.

Just have fun and good luck mate. We also demand shots of booth babes.

Aside from that, was that 'Humanoid Typhoon' comment a reference to the anime Trigun? which is awesome by the way.

Warrior Within is actually my favourite Prince of Persia game, the music (with or without Godsmack) is fantastic in that game, even if the eastern vibe is a little weaker than the rest. It's the gameplay, the story and the fact that it's so much longer than the others that makes it better for me though, Don't be ashamed, and he's not a depressed emo like Squall… just really angry as anyone in his predicament probably would be.

  • http://twitter.com/nightcobra Leandro Ribeiro

i wonder why…until now all your comments have just been senseless bashing.
if it was constructive criticism i would agree with you on them being deleted but you're just hating for the sake of it. if i were one of the admnistrators i would delete them as well, heck i'm surprised you haven't been banned yet.

  • pandaemonium

The ONE ad from blogads is $1000 per month. It's a standard 200×250 ad.
The rest are from Project Wonderful, and pay $21 per day total, or about $700 per month. Click the Project Wonderful link.
And Blip? They get about $10 CPM, and give their content providers half that. That's $0.005 per view, multiplied by his 250,000 pageviews/month, gives you $1250.

That totals to about $35,000 per year before taxes, which is enough to pay bills. Not much more than that.

  • joluoto

So a video game producer is trolling this site now? Sure, why not, have seen weirder stuff happen. Still makes you wonder if video game producers haven't better things to do than trolling the Spoony Experiment.

  • thegodemperor

About Red Dead Redemption, you can turn off the auto aim and make it “expert” which ups the difficulty and it's not THAT bad. You just have to be more careful.

  • sassamura

Let's hope Spoony does not run scared of Kristanna Loken this time.

  • icewinds

Hey man, check out BioWare and Blizzard, the best producers around.

  • Joon_Studios

Not to be rude but check out the Capcom and Quantic Dream areas if any.

  • The_Stig

This doesn't have anything to do with your announcement, I just wanted to respond to your Tweet.

“PROTIP: If you want the villain of your movie to be a surprise, don't cast Ben Kingsley”

…or James Cromwell or Frank Langella.

  • Joon_Studios

    Or even Steven Lang.

  • sifer2

That's cool that you get to go to E3 I would like to go some day. That would be good hitting up the lesser known booths to find the games the big game media wont spend much time on.

As for Red Dead Redemption I agree with most of what you said. It's get kind of easy which makes it feel repetitive just shooting up swarms of bad guys the same way. You didn't even mention the slow mo power which makes it easier going all Max Payne on their ass. Though you can disable auto aim in options by picking Expert. But I think that would make the Horseback fights way too annoying unless you packed Moonshine so you could spam the slow mo.

An yeah major disconnect between the actions you do as a player an John Marston's character. I guess they kind of had to make it that way though or else we wouldn't have many missions to play. A Bad guy would just shoot them in the foot an then say either tell me where Bill Williamson is or the next one goes through your skull an be done with it. Multiplayer is reasonably fun but the free roam lobby is a disappointment not much to do in it. Still I would say the game is pretty awesome. Just like most free roam games it gets tiring an repetitive to me.

  • icewinds

About Mario stuff, Mario 64 was better than Mario Galaxy.

  • The_Stig

Or for that matter, any character who's a corporate businessman that doesn't also own either a bat costume or a flying suit of armor.

  • Joon_Studios

Say what you will but I think Mario and all of Nintendo's 25+ year old franchises should die out. Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Pokemon, FInal Fantasy, they should just be laid to rest now.

  • Eener101

I just want them to make a proper Zelda or Mario game again. Mario 3 was great, why not go from there. And Zelda..seriously..Deco nuts, Tingle, masks, werewolf Link and now trains?. Hello? Go back to your fucking roots for a change. Tacking shit on and making stuff convoluted is not per definition progress.

  • brus

I also played as a good guy in Red Dead Redemption and I don't think you'd lose any honor for killing that prostitute murderer. Maybe you did like me. Once I knifed a murderer, only to realize I'd cut the prostitute as well – talk about double kill -.-

Loved the game but hated the bugs… except the “flying deer” bug – I love Rudoplh.

  • Joon_Studios

Mario in my opinion is dead but I really am having hope for Zelda Wii. If it fails. Oh well. I really think they should reboot the Zelda franchise and give it a fresh start. I loved Zelda but I think meh of their recent titles. The only sequal I would enjoy is Dead Rising 2. That formula never gets old.

Playing with auto-aim off isn't too hard at all, especially after you get used to it. I played through it in about 4 days without it, and it was still great fun. Also, I agree completely about the game not having enough set pieces or boss fights

Is that financial info true? I was always wondering if/what kind of living spoony made from the site-now i know. I just assumed that it would be a lot more than that, but i was obviously over-estimating the amounts you get per view. I had no idea it was that small. Just out of interest do you happen to know how much it would cost to host a site like this? I dont want to pry into Spoony's financial affairs but im just curious-i dont want exact figures but a rough estimate would be good if you know.

  • JSConrady

Is you working in the industry some validation to your bullshit opinion? I work in Hollywood at a production company and write screenplays for a living. I don't come to Spoony's site and gloat about it and troll him, I come because Spoony/Noah is fun, entertaining and enjoyable person to watch and if I run into him at E3 in a couple weeks I'll shake his hand and say “keep up the good work.” You come out of your way to the man's website to post this shit? Really? That's like someone complaining about a television show but won't change the channel.

Honestly, your post comes off as a childish and amateurish effort to feel validated in your own life when you wish you were doing what Noah does. Otherwise, why would you even be here?

  • http://www.facebook.com/shikiru Alain Erpelding

“humanoid typhoon” ? . ok that's a pretty nifty reference :D (provided you referred to trigun)

  • pandaemonium

To start with, I apologize, Spoony for looking into this; I just got tired with people bashing you for making a killing out of this and wanted to back it up with real figures.

The only thing I was not able to get an exact value for was the Blip advertisements; I got it off an old 2009 screenshot of earnings. Maybe it's slightly more, but not noticeably. I also saw another stat of pageviews at 750,000, which would change it, but it's still not the millions that people keep bashing him over. Exact values for the others are given by following the links on this site.

  • Joon_Studios

I thought FFX was a good game. Not the greatest FF title. My one gripe is Tidus. He is not as annoying as Spoony says but he is still annoying. Plus, at least it's not another emo character. Jeez I hate these emo characters Square thinks are cool.

  • dashutdown

Will the language barrier compromise Spoony's verbal assault? We shall see.

  • Rascalking0

    Reply to pandaemonium:

I’ll be honest and say I’m not too familiar with how Project Wonderful works, but I’m pretty sure the cost varies due to bids. Also, your figures only take into account the right side one, you seem to forget about the top banner ad which obviously goes for more. As for the other ads, yes, ONE ad from blogad is $1000 per month. In case you haven’t noticed though, there are usually 2-3 ads on the side at any given time (this month being an exception). You also don’t give Spoony’s viewership enough credit. 250,000 per month? Hah. He gets roughly between 50,000 – 80,000 PER DAY. But hey, just for argument’s sake, let’s say only 1/3 of those people watch a video when they come……so we’ll say 25,000 per day. $0.005 x 25,000 is $125 per day made off viewership….that’s $3875 per month. Add that to his ad revenue (on average between $3000 – $4000) and you’ll see that Spoony nets at LEAST $6875 per month. Not too bad for someone who gets to stay at home all day, watch movies, and play video games. Oh, and maybe once every 3 weeks when viewership starts to drop, he’ll put out a decent video. Most of the time it’s just a rambling v-log. Yeah, I’m sure that takes a ton of work to do. Anyway, try to think twice next time before you’re guys rush to hit the donate button.

As for my gripe with the media thing, for those of you going to E3 this year, you know how unbelievably tight it is. Companies are only given a certain number of passes. There are some great, hard working people at my office who can’t go, even though they literally work on games. Then I see the news that Spoony here, a guy who’s only mention of new games is on a freakin video blog, gets a media pass to “cover” E3. Is that really fair? Is it really fair that some industry professionals are left out while people who have little to nothing to do with new games are able to worm their way in? I mean, the only mention of a new game that stems outside of the frequent v-log is that cheaply done live-walkthrough of Premonition. And I promise you, that was only thrown together at the last minute because he knew the E3 guys would be verifying his site to see if he does, in fact, have mention of new games. If he hadn’t done that game, he wouldn’t have gotten a pass, plain and simple. In terms of coverage, he’s not going to give you guys anything that reputable game sites can’t give you 10000x better. If the guy really wanted to go, he should have just bought a pass off craig’s list or ebay or something, there are plenty there. Instead we have someone that doesn’t deal with new games (in fact, doesn’t deal with much of anything these days) who finds a way to exploit the system, worm they’re way in, all with the claim of “media”. Then, with a twinkle in his eye, he makes sure to let fans know that they can’t go because “the event isn’t open to the public”. Spoony, YOU ARE THE PUBLIC. Jesus, can he get anymore smug? Hey Spoony, don’t forget to book more no-name cons as fast as possible!

  • Joon_Studios

If you are still griping at Spoony for the E3 thing, the point of E3 is to show off the latest technology. To get the world to know about this you need Television and the public. Only the public have the ability to see what they like and cause hype. Without hype you won't see much sales when the day comes to ship out your product. About Spoony's income. His job, in ways, is entertainment. He makes his money off of entertaining and because his website is so popular people ask him to advertise which also in ways is work. He really isn't the most hardworking guy but what he does is for the guy who had a stressful day at work and can relax and laugh. Spoony is what keeps us sane.

  • http://twitter.com/Depsycho Depsycho

Ho man, that is so cool! Attending E3's a damn good privilege. I can't tell ya how lucky you are, Spoony. Hey if you come through Modesto on your way to LA, stop by and say hi to me. Haha. In any case, have a safe trip and more importantly have a blast, though I know that won't be hard for you! :)

  • http://twitter.com/downphoenix Downphoenix (Justin)

Spoony scratched his nose when he said he was gonna see Microsoft's show. That's a sign of lying according to that tv show Lie to Me, LOL.

Dude, I'm going, too! Hope to see you and Joe there. Big fan. They do allow video, but only at areas where the big “No Filming” signs are hanging.

  • kefkaesque

    Riddle me this:

You say Spoony gets 25,000 hits per day, roughly 750,000 a month. Now that's a pretty big number.

If you're an E3 coordinator with a limited number of passes, who are you gonna give one to? The guy who gets 3/4 of a million hits per month and who happens to have an opinion trusted and valued by his audience, or a guy who happens to work in game publishing and really wont influence anybody?

  • Eener101

There is still potential in Mario games. They just shouldn't focus on selling those games on the character alone or make them complete “kiddie” games. Mario 1,2 and 3 were not kiddie games at all. It just feels like they are trying to reinvent the wheel here and overlooking the plain basics. Same with Zelda. What is a Zelda game about? Exploration, being a hero and great gameplay. Zelda games aren't about cutscenes in which the paperthing plot is being shoved down your throat like it's some kind of masterpiece with annoying NPCs constantly stopping you in your tracks and using you as their errand boy. I don't want to be forced where to go, where's the exploration? Also, Link is a darn hero, stop treating me like Im a five year old with downs, point me in the right direction and I'll figure it out since I'm the Goddamned Linkman. Don't force me to go fetch some snotnosed kids in a game of hide and seek when I'm on a quest to save the damn world unless you want me to smack em upside the head with a boomerang. And collecting Deku sticks and nuts? What, did Link turn into a damn Squirrel or monkey? Or collecting fish for a pedo with a huge bulging package in a green fairysuit? Who thought that was a good idea? Seriously, they should go back to the basics, just bigger and better.
    /rant off.

  • Solitair

-You do know that a popular definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results, right? Whatever. If you want to keep spending money on Final Fantasy and subsequently agonizing over it, it's your decision.

-Would you mind clarifying what you found to be lacking in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time? As far as I know (haven't played any of the games) it just had bad combat and the rest of it was sublime. Yeah, I've been listening to Zero Punctuation too much.

-I am totally stoked for this series on the Ultima games, probably more than I am for any of your other projects (though I'm digging the Deadly Premonition LP) and definitely more than I'm looking forward to more Final Fantasy videos (no offense, I just don't find those as funny as I used to). I've been looking forward to a review of Ultima 9 ever since you held up the box, because I remember seeing that in stores. I shelled out money for the player's guide (thankfully not the game itself) and along with a CD of the Ultima Collection that I happened to have lying around, it was my introduction to the Ultima series. Sure, the information I got about the series from 9 was dubious, and I couldn't get half the games on the CD to work right, and I didn't really get that far on any of the games I did get working, but that didn't stop me from using the color scheme of the eight virtues on everything I owned as a kid. Hope you follow through on this one soon!

  • undeadaRTie

It's hard to pick just one thing to look forward to the most. Each and every project you announced or hinted sounds awesome. But most of all I hope you and Joe have a blast on E3. Safe to say that if you do, we will too after the footage is posted. Best of luck, man.

  • foodlespane

Congratulations, man. Looking forward to your take on E3. You're going places, dude.

  • http://dragonacesg7.livejournal.com/profile Dragons_Dusk

Okay, I've been reading your comments since yesterday (yes, they're still there except whatever the first was) and I've been trying to not get involved because I'm not one for conflicts but I am failing at that.

Okay, quickly, and I'm not going to try and do the math on things so if you want to ignore this, that's fine. But, Spoony is a single male with no dependents, wonder how much the government takes come tax time of his total.

Also,Spoony going wouldn't be such a horrible thing if they (the people who run E3) hadn't started closing it several years ago.

And I'm not even sure why you're so upset. If Spoony is making as much as you say, why are you upset? He provides entertainment. Yes, YOU and others might consider it BAD entertainment for your own reasons but that's pretty subjective. There are many people in Hollywood who get paid insane amounts for work that I consider bad and they don't have to buy their own equipment, do their own editing, or gather the material.

I am honestly sorry people in your office wishing to go can't go. I think how E3 is being run in general is getting not the greatest but there are many of us who will be wanting his opinion, an opinion he is going to give us and that will influence what we decide to buy. And not blindly but if he says a game is bad, many will want to see why he thinks that, get the game to try and see if he is wrong, if he likes the game, many will get it to see if he was right.

As for your ending comment about the cons, I was hoping he'd actually go to the con he mentioned in the V-log since some of us can't afford to travel to the bigger ones…

  • jewbagel

I don't know why you keep bringing up the ad revenue like it completely explains a mans motivation. He had 8 reviews in May, not counting vlogs and Kickassia. If you don't think that's a lot of hard work and effort, then I'm sorry for the Chinese work shop you live in. AVGN, TGWTG, anyone like that is going to put up ads. It doesn't make them greedy people. It's not like they ask you to pay to view their reviews.

Personally, I think Spoony is one of the more qualified internet dweebs out there to cover it. Sure, IGN/G4/whatever will be there with their live coverage but going to those places is like checking CNN quickly for headlines. If you want a real opinion you go to your favourite community or reviewer and see what the real deal is, if the opportunity to do that is there. I know I'd rather hear what AngryJoe or Spoony thinks. If he truly does get as much money and traffic as you think, why wouldn't he be qualified?

It seems like you should really be angry with the people who give the passes at your own company and not posting trollish posts here. I'm sorry for the guys you know who can't go, but Spoony has no control over that. You're really just seeing something that isn't there, and coming across as rather petty. There was no smugness or condescension in the video, just a guy excited about doing something he didn't think he was able to.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Patricio-Escobedo/832700741 Patricio Escobedo

Again, this is as easy as saying this:

He can do whatever he wants, if you don't like him, his site or something else about him; then leave this site and don't support it.
And I'm sorry those guys in your office won't go, but there's a reason, and that reason is that they're not as influential as Spoony. That's it. What gives you the right to dictate what's fair and what's not?

And I'm really puzzled by something… if I ask if you know what's like to be a producer of media like Spoony, you'll most likely answer me that “yes” (I'm guessing) then I wonder… do you really KNOW what's like to edit a video by yourself? you make this thing? to record? to set chroma keys? costumes? cut movies? etc etc…
I can tell you, its a LOT of hard work, and that's why I wouldn't say that's Spoony is almost like a “free loader”, because I know by myself that's not the case.

  • http://www.facebook.com/InvisibleCrane Grant McLellan

Rascalking0…I don't know what your problem is but I think after…how long has Spoony done his thing?…about 3-4 years the fact that he's been allowed to go to something like E3 should be seen as something admirible. Face it we are now at a point where internet personalities/people who run popular websites are starting to become in the same league as the people in the industry you happen to work in.

I mean yes I would love to be able to go to E3 (but being a nobody I can't) but please, just give Spoony a break. That's all I and we ask

  • http://www.saisasylum.com/ Sai

It'll definitely be fun to see you Vlog E3, and it'd be great to hear you and Joe discuss things, since you each have different views on games. The Deadly Premonition LP is pretty damn funny, it's great to see weird, obscure games that just make you ask “why?”

Jesus how did you beat Red Dead in four days? I was playing it every day for a bit and I'm only 65% the way through, but I did get distracted by multiplayer and challenges.

I tend to be more chaotic neutral, for lack of a better term, but I was a good guy in Red Dead too. It just seemed more in character. But yeah not being able to choose sides during the Mexican Revolution was weird.

Alan Wake was good, but it's kinda short.

  • URGMA

nice kickassia photo in the back :D

I get it but, you're right actually. But I really think Mario needs a proper grave already. Nintendo not exactly lazy but too independant on aging franchises. Come up with something new darn it! Also, I'm starting a site that like this as in reviews. My first film. The abomination that is Twilight!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matthew-H-Renault/1091324215 Matthew H Renault

That's cool u got into E3. I would love to go there myself. better save the free swag for me lol. Just to let you know that the new FF14 is a f**king an online game. What the hell they alrdy did that shit and no need for another online RPG. WoW really burnt me out online RPG. I think the Motion senser seems cool and would love your comment on it. I know how you feel about all these games that come out. It is f**king work when you play these game's. I know I'm having problems trying to play them all myself. I even stop playing these game's because it's so much time. I might have to check out red dead redeption if you like it. I love playing surviver/horror games myself. I want to check out Deadly Permantion. Looks good, but crap graphics. I love Silent Hill and resident evil games. That's one of the things I notice is that it seem like it's like silent hill and resident evil combined. So I'll give it a try and same with Alan wake too. One of these time I should send a list of movies and c what you think about them. I don't care if you dis on movie's that I like because you know how to put things in a good way that I see and in reality sense that I love. I also know that I love a challenge and I'm a game master that goes through games pretty easy so I have to have a challenge just like you, but I do run into problems just like everyone else does because HOW THE HELL do game designers get things messed up. O well it happens or they just do the most stupidest things ever like finding shit that is freaking hard to do from missing something that can lead me to hours of game play. Same goes with riddles like Playing hard mode puzzles on Silent hill 3 and couldn't leave the first room because I DID NOT READ Shake spears books. Like I said, I love a challenge's that makes the gameplay better. I also forgot Devil May Cry 4 f**king secert missions too. The worst thing I ever have to deal with. I swear this mission were going to give me a heartattack that there so hard to do. I was crazy enough to finish them all(I'm such an Idiot to do so). But love the review you did and I still have a crap load of videos to watch. I think I got through at least 60% of your stuff lol. I'll be writing and comments to support you. If anyone give's you shit. Who care's about them because there screwed when your on your ark when the world floods lol.

I don't get people like this. It's basically saying, “It changed, it sucks.” I applaud them immensely for expanding the mythos of Zelda, as well as making 3d platforming a viable option for REALLY great games. What's the problem with making it 3d?

I wanna play Alan Wake so badly

  • Ebonwing

Angry Joe spoke about some of the things he will be doing at E3, I was wondering what you might be doing, and what demos you might be attending, or if you have any special interviews you were invited to do.

I asked Joe if he could cover Portal 2, but if he can't would you be able to cover it?

  • DetectiveGumshoe

I totally agree with you on the Red Dead Redemption. But I hear that it was just a test for GTA V with something to do with random events or wildlife. Who knows?

As For Alan Wake.. To be honest was the highlight of May. To be honest I enjoyed it x10 more then RDR. I just felt like I'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE IN GTA IV, or IVE SEEN THIS IN CALL OF JUAREZ TAHOO. Alan Wake is unique and really fun and the story captivated me. But I've also heard that Alone In The Dark is very similar to Alan Wake is with it's TV format.

Also collectibles rule >:). Maybe in the sequel the coffee will play an important role…OH LIKE DEADLY PREMONITION

    Have fun at E3!
