Having attended PAX Prime myself last year, allow me to give you a few pointers that will enhance your overall experience. I did not go as a journalist, so naturally you'll have some other things to worry about. But here's something you'll enjoy straight up:

PAX Prime will have a much better indy game scene. You can probably skip the repeats from E3 and focus on the smaller venues. IMHO, most of the smaller studios games were so much more addictive.

Next, PAX Prime is about ALL gamers, not just consoles and a smidgin of PC. There's a decent slice of tabletop gaming on the floor and a slew of tabletop tourneys going on all thru out the con.

Just like other cons, you'll have a lot of conflicting panels that you may or may not want to attend. There's always one that's mandatory (and also the hardest to get into): the live Make-a-Strip. Maybe you could get the PAX Bump for all of Transmission Awesome?

The night concerts are usually over before midnight and the next day starts ~9ish. I don't know what E3's schedule is like, but I found PAX's to work quite nicely…provided I didn't get smashed the night before.

Cosplay is encouraged. A humble request? At least one interview as Dr. Insano. :)

I'm an hour and a half north of Seattle (I avoid that city when I can :^p). I've heard good things about the con though..might have to check it out for a day.

make sure when you get a room, you can find the ac controll. oh and hot water lol have fun up in seattle

I attended my first PAX this year at the inaugural PAX East. I've started writing for an up-and-coming website called GameXplain with some ex-IGN and Gamespot employees and they invited me to join them for the event. I'm just waiting for my press pass to be cleared but I should be golden to go. I'd love to meet you as I value your opinions highly. Here's hoping I see you in the press room!
