I can't believe your surprised to know that many people would vote for Dr.insano i for one would definitely vote for him come 2012. Not because he's honest, not because he's fucking cool but because he knows his science :D

Maybe he knows how magnets work.

  • Seitou

I can hear doctor insano scream ing “Of COURSE NOT, I”M FUCKING EVIL” over and over, it's glorious :3 also I wish I could see the entire uncut Q&A, I'm gonna start looking for it now :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aaron-Booth/538745470 Aaron Booth

    FUCKING MAGNETS!?

  • http://twitter.com/Seveleniumus Tamsos Valdovas

lol, you could do a stand up comedy, Spoony, you have the right skills ;)

  • undeadaRTie

Spoony, any chance you'd come to Europe cons as well?
I'd love to be able to attend one of your Panels.

  • Strelnikov

Insane Clown Posse did a song with the lyric “Water, Air, Fire, Earth/ How do fuckin' magnets work?” Stupidity of that level always gets recognized, so now it's this quarter's Internet meme.

  • http://twitter.com/RawJah83 Roger König

very funny panel, spoony.. i would like to see more of it, too..

and i would like to welcome spoony, to the group of men, who left their parents house and start growing and growing and growing ;) in every dimension :D

  • http://twitter.com/TylerBaumbarger Tyler Baumbarger

Damn, Spoony could do stand up if he wanted.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Bentley2210 Paul Bentley

    Dr Insano for president!

  • http://www.facebook.com/Crasyclown David Agborg

You should do stand up! :D

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_RQT2IDHSAGYYN2ESTVUPM3EXUE Genys

Not just a brilliant reviewer but just as fantastic comedian as well :) People should start showing you on TV, seriously, great job :)

  • Akiba61

Spoony's so comfortable on the mic, he makes it look easy.

  • VDoll

Hey Spoony! Just wanna say thanks for all the content you've put up recently- there's been loads of stuff every day this week and I'm super grateful for the hard work you've put in. ^__^

  • http://twitter.com/MrBastok Aaron Butt

You should totally do a standup routine. Become completely world famous!!!!

    And then take over…

  • http://twitter.com/kylebiddle Kyle Biddle

“'Cause he's honest” lmao thats great.

  • CalebTheTimeTraveler

I'd vote Insano simply because Canada has had it too good, for too long.

  • goodguya

This isn't the full panel, so I implore people to go find it on Youtube. Just type “Spoony SGC 2010″. The video's a little low quality but the audio is pretty good. Still, big ups to Screwattack for this!

  • walmor

You definately need to loose some weigth, Spoony…=P

  • http://twitter.com/KaiLeingod John Spearing

    lol awesome spoony one

  • They Call Me The Fizz

I gotta tell ya Spoony, you've got a great stance on the mic… If there's a local comedy club 'round your parts, you should give open mic night a try!

  • Phrederic

It's only a matter of time before some agent finds Spoony and gets him a job. Yeah, Spoony's first gig will be as an uber nerdy annoying “comic” relief character in some shitty Disney TV show, but it will be a start! It won't be easy to break into Hollywood, especially if you're not related to an actor or a model, but if anybody from this sad but awesome world of internet celebrity reviewers can make it big, it will be Spoony, he's got the acting chops, and the comedic timing, not to mention a great voice for this sort of thing, and his humor is way more accessible than the Snob or Linkara or even Critic. And how could I forget that roguish smile? (His fangirls certainly haven't.)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Gerard-Mckay/1552902991 Gerard Mckay

Well it is true he is honest :P

  • http://bluehighwind.blogspot.com/ BlueHighwind

Spoony, I'd watch Bloodrayne with you. ツ

  • Poipoi

Honestly, I started to follow Spoony after I came across TGWTG. I noticed that he made a video about ff8. I noticed that I also really liked to watch him try to play the game. I didn't feel the fan rage others did. I was like, ” He does have valid points. ” It made me realize I'm a screwed up person which I'm okay with.

  • Poipoi

He has to be fun to watch movies with.

  • Poipoi

Well he is… which makes it tempting for even me to vote for him.

  • flaregun

To everyone saying both “Spoony's got the chops to be a stand-up comedian” and “I wish I could see more of this”, you don't know the half of it. What Screw Attack chose to tease us with here barely even scratches the surface, you *must* do the Youtube search posted above and check out the fan-shot video of his entire panel. Spoony does a bit describing the reaction of the audience at some kind of High School assembly to a motivational speech given by The Ultimate Warrior that is just a treat to watch. It really looks as if he's been performing in front of an audience for 10 years.

There's absolutely not doubt he's got the chops to be a professional comedian, the only question is does he really want to subject himself to that whole world? It's a tough gig, and to make it you need a lot more than simple talent. It takes a whole host of skills & traits, some of them not neccesarilly admirable. Plus, so far his subject matter has focused entirely on various aspects of Geek Culture (and OK, yeah, the wrestling too). Who knows if he'd do as well talking about, say, politics, or Sienfeldian ruminations on everyday life, or anything that the wider audience beyond the “nerd” subculture can relate to?

  • http://twitter.com/Die_Zecke Andreas

    That was so awesome. :)
You've got a great stage presence Spoony and some damn good skills on the mic.

  • M_Appel

well, yeah… thats actually a pretty good point. he IS honest!

and man, tis a shame that im stuck here in germany :P i would have loved to go to SGC!

  • http://www.gamespot.com/users/cornbredx CornBRED-X

I already saw this from someone else that recorded it but I'm gonna watch it again, this was great.

Side note Spoony, I started watching your stuff because of your gamespot posted review of Alone in the Dark when that came out and was miserably bad. It was so well done I wanted to see more of your reviews and thats how I found your stuff on youtube which eventually moved to here.

Anyway, great stuff. I'm also enjoying LordKats live stream of LK, RolloT, Skitch, Nick, Joe, and you playing DND on sundays- those are fun too, I hope you guys keep doing those.

  • http://www.gamespot.com/users/cornbredx CornBRED-X

I disagree. I dont think he'd have to cover every topic to be popular, There's many forms of stand up comedy, and none of them cover everything- but it may help some depending on their style. There isnt many that cover geek culture (I know theres a few but they even dont cover alot of it in fear no one would get it). Spoony could get his start doing Cons all over the place doing his routine and I'm sure that would make a decent start for him if he really wanted to do that. Being a stand up comedian requires alot of road time, if he's actually willing to do that though he'd be fine and he's very funny so I think he could potentially even draw in more then a geek crowd as he refined his act.

It's all speculative though, I personally would prefer him to not subject himself to hollywood and be more like the MST3k guys, entirely outside the mainstream. It may not be grandeur but they have their fans and they remain grounded in their own fame. I think that would suit spoony better, but thats just my opinoin.

Obviously I dont know him, I only know what we see in his videos so I can only make assumptions here.

  • saint23thomas

“Vote Insano – A vote for me is a vote for honest politics.”

  • http://twitter.com/Die_Zecke Andreas

    Welcome in the club. ^^”
I am also from germany and it is really a shame that i maybe will never be able to see him live in action. :/

  • Megaric

spoony if you ever retire from the expierement be a comiedian because that was so professional and funny as hell lol,
bloodrayne………*Sigh* if you going to comic con new york im going there so announce it if you are in one of your videos!! =]

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_DQGWWL2LP23UV4QRSVT6RFH4BI Benjamin

Dr Insano's platform would be science and evil? I think Americans might take issue with the “science” part (Kidding!).

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HCSO6AMU3TICAFQPRFRE6JXGMI J M

you could be a gamer stand-up comedian… I would watch you!

  • http://twitter.com/philmstud2k Cyrus

He isn't already a stand-up comedian? Well, I guess you have a point. Spoony usually sits down during his videos.

  • http://twitter.com/philmstud2k Cyrus

ouch, need some neosporin for that burn?

  • http://twitter.com/philmstud2k Cyrus

I actually kind of find it hilarious that Spoony started taking things seriously at FF8. AFTER The Thing and all his classic NES reviews, I thought he started getting big at The Thing, lul.

  • Ceherz

    nice belly sir^^

  • http://twitter.com/Die_Zecke Andreas

I'm getting all nostalgic seeing you talking about your humble begginings. :,)
I really can't say that i am a fan of the first hour, but i've stumpled upon you around the time you made your fmv hell: Power Rangers review.
But it was not tgwtg through which i found ya, it was rather Dr. Ashen. ^^
Spoony was the second internet reviewer i learned to know and he keeps being my favorite to this day.

Spoony, keep up the good work, i'm sure one day you're the greatest of them all. :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=629880537 Mallory O'Connor

You should seriously do stand up comedy, you are great! XD

  • http://twitter.com/thefreakmoonman moon

    • http://twitter.com/Die_Zecke Andreas

Let’s hope he will be there again. :)
I would also like to fly, but i will have to look up how well that will go with my studying.^^”

  • Cthulhu07

Spoony: The world's first and only sit-down comedian :D

  • notyoursavior78

Ha it is cool to see Noah like a actual celebrity in this video. I'm happy for his success. I remember finding Spoony on Youtube when I was looking for some videos on Bayou Billy basically to just laugh at how bad that game was and then I found someone named the SpoonyOne. He had did a review on it and I laughed so much. Been a fan ever since (that was actually before the beginning of the FFVIII review, in February 2007).

    • http://www.foxhack.net/ Foxhack

… yeah, I found out about him through Bayou Billy as well.

      This is awkward.

  • http://twitter.com/Desfore Kevin Hamilton

Hey Spoony, for some reason, the way you talked and made jokes kinda reminded me of Dane Cook's stand up; except that you're not horrible. XD

  • Destoroyaaaaaaaaah

You are hilarious, you should seriously do a podcast,if you havent already, that or do comedy.

  • Strelnikov

Check out Bill Cosby's 1983 concert film “Bill Cosby: Himself”….dude had a chair in the middle of this huge stage and would sit down then get up and pace around, then sit down again. Richard Pryor was still hurting from his freebase explosion and he stood the entire time in his 1982 movie “Live at the Sunset Strip.”

  • saibot216

Great panel! If you ever come to a chicago con I'm there.

  • Cthulhu07

I should've known someone had already done this sit-down comic thing…. Damn you Cosby for not letting Spoony be the first one ever… :D

Will check it out though and the one with Richard Pryor too. Thanks :D

  • Il Principe

Sadly, this has been cut down. I saw the whole q&a somebody filmed and put on YT, it's like 40 minutes and rocks! Very very funny!

“I hope you will die getting hit by a truck full of cancer!” Now that's a thing you cherish and remember ;)

  • http://www.facebook.com/tomas.elf Tomas Elff

Damn, you should really do more stand-up stuff :D (be it commentary, comedy, Q&A, whatever). You really time your lines perfectly and you have a great contact with the crowd! Moar! :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=52000099 Jesse Lifton

Yeah Spoony you should get in front of the camera your ask spoony stuff is great.

Holy crap, they cut out pretty much everything here.

Youtube version is better in all but audio quality.

  • PandaBrawler

Maybe you were one of the 20 followers he was talking about before.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Vincent-Kresse/100000039787473 Vincent Kresse

    man they cut alot.

    I'd vote for dr. insano

  • Anonymous

Wow Noah, you´re Jerry Seinfeld ^^

  • http://twitter.com/CedarMusketeer Bryan Gardner

Well Spoony, this is a great Ad ScrewAttack put up for their SGC DVD. I have to buy it now. Also I may just attend SGC next year if you will be going again.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tyrmcdohl Adam Nelson

I was the dude at the end of the video, asking about Dr. Insano's election plans. I'm touched that Screwattack chose to leave my question in there.

Spoony, it was a blast shooting the shit with you at SGC. I hope I wasn't pestering you too much, and I swear I'll get that SGC video cut together at some point.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/PG5F4OSEWLGOVPEHK44ZWDRI4Y Sean

    Ha, ha!

Ohhh, yeah I'd vote for Dr. Insano too just because he's honest.

  • http://twitter.com/butterpecs david

They did but it's just a promo for the whole thing.

  • Jacen

And here I thought you're just doing stand up, Spoony

  • http://twitter.com/butterpecs david

Spoony, you have a great future ahead of you in the world of entertainment.

  • Ashenge

Strangely enough, I found him from Bayou Billy also. Even though he was already at the end of Phantasmagoria 2 at this point.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Blayney/683346875 Michael Blayney

“NAKED ZOMBIE SEAN CONNERY.” That was what did it for me. I've managed to hook my brother, too.

  • Renaissance_nerd

“Shut up i got a Blitzball” – my new excuse for everything

  • Logion

I wondered where that footage was. I really like seeing you at conventions and I think other people do too.

  • http://www.youtube.com/deathwing107 deathwing107

The review of “The Thing” game was what got me into your youtube channel, then I progressed to your website. I almost lost interest, though, until you started doing Phantasmagoria 2 Let's Plays and the VLogs.

  • http://www.youtube.com/deathwing107 deathwing107

Maybe not stand-up comedy, but in a setting similar to “An Evening with Kevin Smith.” Really, most of Spoony's humor is inside jokes that his fans would only really laugh at, much like Kevin Smith with his movies.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ian-Haas/100000971156636 Ian Haas

It's funny you hold the mic just like you're doing stand up. I was partially erect.

  • http://www.youtube.com/deathwing107 deathwing107

I'd agree, but in a way similar to “An Evening with Kevin Smith.” Spoony is hilarious, but I think only to really his own demographic. If he were actually doing stand-up, he wouldn't be able to concentrate as much on bashing video games, movies, etc… it would more-so be his daily life or general interests.

One thing Spoony has proven though is that he is quite the public speaker.

  • http://twitter.com/Deimos1984ad Zak Mahmud

My first time seeing you was the Demolition Man Review, that is still my favorite review to this day. I'm glad you had a wonderful time at SGC.

  • thehivemind33

Man to think it all started for me with The Thing review. Interest in the game brought me to your youtube channel…and now I see that it is horrid. Thanks Spoony for all the laughs you have given us! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sidney-H-Le/1351751397 Sidney H Le

Honestly, who wouldn't vote for Doctor Insano?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Christopher-Glosser/100000484012671 Christopher Glosser

Seriously – That was some fairly good improvised stand-up! What fraction of that was scripted?

  • Dr_Peace

I don't know if that was just really well edited (I'm sure it is) but you'd make a fine comedian. Great video and here's to more Q&A Vlogs in the future!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dan-Romanko/100000261774530 Dan Romanko

    Well, he is honest.

  • Carteeg_Struve

Poor Burton. We need to have a fund raiser to cure him of his robotic leprosy.

What I loved with Final Fantasy VII was that the story was so detailed and complex, that honestly I was lost as to what was going on plot-wise the first time through at a few points. And I loved that. It showed to me that a lot of thought and design when into the story itself and going back through a second and third and forth time made things so much clearer.

I got that lost feeling again in Final Fantasy VIII, and I figured “Great. This story is as complex as VII. Awesome. I can't wait to see what the hell is actually going on.” And then the game ended. My reaction was: “Man… did I miss something? Did I miss a lot?” And, silly me, I played it again hoping to get points cleared up. Needless to say, it didn't. Ever. *sigh*

By that point FFIX came out and I decided to move on and not really look back. I only played VIII through one more time when I decided to chug through all of the FF core games (and the original Tactics) in one fell swoop.

  • GamerKT

    That's what she said.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Dear.wHATEver Borislav Elinov

dude your like a stand up comedian you have a talent there no joke

What erect girls do you know?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Calvin-Jarchow/1131125364 Calvin Jarchow

I love watching spoony. Maybe even a little more than Nostalgia Critic but there is always something that can either make me laugh or grin wickedly. I cant stand wrestling but The Spoony One makes it good! If I ever made a bard I would make sure he was a spoony bard indeed.

  • allessander

    Fucking awesome, man, AWESOME!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Benjamin-Dicker/1825597943 Benjamin Dicker

I heard that Uwe Boll was scheduled to attend SGC 2010. I wonder if Spoony happened to come face to face with his bete noir.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mrbeiswenger Matthew Robert Beiswenger

I honestly think you should do stand up.

  • chris235

will we get to see the full thing without the cuts sometime?

  • http://zelriku.deviantart.com/ Sangii

The end was the best thing ever. I thought someone was going to come up and make sure I wasn't dying from the sound I made.

I would watch bloodrayne 5 times with you and then crouch down to puppeteer your robot ……. (that's what she said)

  • http://www.facebook.com/alex.wally.k.053 Alex Kaminski

I've finally found something I disagree with you on Spoony One. I LOVE KotOR2. And even the unfinished version didn't disappoint me me. And I'll tell you why: it shared the trait that all amazing artsy games have: the nature of the game is part of the story (just look at Bioshock). My personal recommendation is that you, oh holy one (wait, did I just call you a spork?), play KotOR2 with the TSLRCM mod which brings back cut content (especially the ending) and fixes bugs. You'll probably still think I'm an idiot for liking the game afterwords. But it's ok. I'll still vote for ya in 2012.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ObieWanCoyote Christopher Lash

    Hmm… what can I say…

#1.. Yub yub! (intended as the 1st of three definitions under the urban dictionary and by no means the 2nd!)

#2. No, you had something like 17 people at that point that told 20 of their friends. I bumped the links to some old high school friends who were not interested in promoting your show.

#3. Privateer 2 was ok even if I base that solely on the fact that the game contains my all-time favorite space combat sim airframe, The Heretic.

#4. I DEMAND a Dr Insano 2012 bumper sticker! This comes with a fore warning from my wife that I shall recieve no noggie for the time span that such a sticker exists on my mini-van. And I hate stickers on my vehicles… but I so want one!

And lastly, no more QQ about having no help. You've had offers from a few of your old friends and no response, so you missed the boat old friend.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Borean/100000041163314 Michael Borean

Because he's honest. Yep. Makes sense to me lol.

  • GamerKT

    Do stand-up!

  • GamerKT

    Your mom.

  • http://twitter.com/MoonDinosaur Benny

dammit, gotta buy a dvd to see all this?

shoulda gotten one of your buddies to film this, like what james rolfe or that guy with the glasses have done.

oh well, hope you get a nice bit of money outta this.

judging from these clips, should do stand-up. seem like a natural. only problem, your material would be very nerdy, and, that may be hard to find an audience like that unless your at one of these conventions.

hope you do more of these. again, your a natural at it.

  • Franky_2

I hope there is more of this. I would really love to see it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matt-Williams/100000421173915 Matt Williams

After seeing this I realized that the old skul undiscovered spooney was a thing of the past. I never realized that spooney was actually getting the attention he deserved. Truth is, the start of all his comedy antics with FF8, The Thing and even Phantasmagoria 2 (which I loved!!!) is so obviously something far behind him now and an amateur game reviewer was lost and a serious career in game reviewing has developed. I'm gonna miss the way things were but it was inevitable with his talent. Its a rare occasion now when I come onto spooney's site and am ingrossed in something he has written, purely because I think its not the laid back comedy it once was. I visit the site on a almost a daily basis, I'm not sure why anymore, surely only a small amount of viewers enjoyed the 'It Came From Beyond Midnight' stuff that was posted, which had very little to do with spooney anyway and whats the wrestling reviewing all about. I'm sure the site will be more of a fan site now and less of the F*ing comedy goldmine it was, but I really do wish Spooney all the luck in his career. I'm trying not to be patronising and realise I will get some geeky critisism about not knowing what spooney was really all about. But hey! isnt that what feedback is all about.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Myles-Miller/100000976805602 Myles Miller

If my girlfriend saw this she would murder me for not taking her to see you.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6JJBZ73VNJN5VWOXSIX6U5ZW7Q Him

Your style reminds me of Dane Cook… Okay, that came off as an insult. But it was funny! Great work!

  • Darkweaver

I actually liked FF8 before watching Spoony's video on it, and I was like: “What the hell was I thinking?” SPOONY CURED ME OF FANBOY-ISM! There! I said it! :D
Also, try the restoration mod for KotOR 2. It's worth it.

  • http://twitter.com/kielan Chris Moore

Great crowd rappor, I would be so nervous getting infront of so many people, good job.

  • oMrHarris

    Brilliant

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/George-Georgakis/558962949 George Georgakis

Seriosly Spoony perfected the art of video game comedy. And you even took it one step beyond with video game stand-up comedy. Really brilliant. Hope to see more of you in these types of shows. Best of luck with your work.

  • Marvin595

You know what? Given the last two shit-for-brains wankers who were in No. 10, Doctor Insano could probably run for Prime Minister of Great Britain and win easily. God knows I'd vote for him. (Seriously though Labour Government, was Fox Hunting really the biggest issue you simply HAD to tackle? C'mon it's British culture at it's most controversial and best, bring it back you whiney bitches)

  • Marvin595

Oh yeah and you're actually pretty good on stage

  • Conkey

Spoony your a hero, like hero from heroes or maybe even Trey Parker in that one movie..?

  • http://www.facebook.com/tobias.perschon Tobias Perschon

you are a natural on stage!

that's pretty how much it went with my friends when I wanted to make videos. There not much my friends any more cause I went and found new ones that would back me up.

I love how he paused after he said Final fantasy 8 because he knew that there were fanboys in the audience. Like I said I love final fantasy 8 but I love sponny even more.
