do you think that the duke after this one will take like 20 to 30 years to come out or is that figure to ambitious

The best thing in this video is the Telltale-games-logo in the background.

    “Its going to be big”
It actually looked pretty small to me

Those are my thoughts exactly. Seeing the gameplay I’m just not impressed. I didn’t grow up with Duke Nukem and truthfully only found out about Duke Nukem Forever only 3 years ago. While this game may be able to satisfy the fans of the games other players will just see it as another run of the mill shooter.
I just wonder what the reviews of the game will be like when or if the game comes out. Will it be a case of true criticism on a game that’s truly dated or great reviews built around the hype.

  • http://renaissance-geek.blogspot.com/ Jaebird

If Duke teamed up with Rick Astley, and went around blowing up dudes with the RCKROLLINATOR-9000, then I would be interested.

I can only hope that it comes packed on 14 DVDs, dispenses milk, cookies and hot strippers directly into my livingroom. And that it takes forever to finish. ^_^

  • http://www.facebook.com/admtm24 Adam Timothy Martin

I hope it is good. I trust Gearbox though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Borean/100000041163314 Michael Borean

Its entirely possible they took the most boring parts of the game for the demo. I mean thats not REALLY likely, but hey I can hope can’t I?

As a side note, in a way Duke is past his time. When he first came out, for a dos game in like, 1991, he was a badass action hero saving the world. The other 2 episodes came out and reafirmed this. Then, to me, the pinnicle of duke (because honestly, I didn’t like duke nukem 3d) Duke Nukem 2 came out. Duke was shown as a total fucking badass, with BALLS hanging down to his feet. He had several kick ass weapons (one of which he could use to propel himself up into the air) and the platforming was awesome. I don’t see how this could do better.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Daniel-Gilfillan/1681085004 Daniel Gilfillan

I don’t really see what all the skepticism is for. Team Fortress 2 had a very similar disaster-wrought development. Years ago THAT was the game that would never come out, and it did to considerable appeal. I can understand being skeptical if there weren’t examples to draw from, but there are.

  • Anonymous

I know this game is the biggest joke in the history of gaming, but is is it weird that if it’s a semi-competent shooter I’ll be happy with it? Also, I wonder what Yahtzee will have to say about this when it comes out.

    *Duke fans prepare for nerd-raging*

..Ah. An even handed review? Well thats just fantastic. I was afraid you were going to be quite dissappointed.

Someone folks gotta realise. Triptych games was formed back in May of 2009 when 3D Realms had to release their internal development studios. Triptych games is 9 of the former 3DR developers. They literally worked out of their houses to get Duke Nukem Forever on the PC to its completion. However, they had NO WAY to actually get this game on shelves, they had no money. Gearbox stepped in to help fund the last leg of the trip, port it, and to acquire the actual Duke Nukem IP from 3D Realms. In Randy Pitchfords own words “I want you to understand, we didnt just buy this IP, they sold it to us. These guys would sooner burn down their own house then sell the Duke IP, but they sold it to us.”

The thing to remember about the 15 minute demo at PAX is it was simply there to say “Its actually real, here it is.” Many of the great enviroments that will be in Duke Forever (Like Duke’s own casino, with actual playable Casino games and stuff) were not on display. The Stadium Remake, and The Desert are hardly the most impressive levels this game will have on hand methinks.

Thanks for the good news Spoony. This Duke fans going to be happy come 2011. It’ll be like an era coming to an end for some of us dedicated Duke fans who have waited on the forums at 3D Realms, and now await his return at Gearbox.

ALWAYS BET ON DUKE!On a more serious note, no, of course this game will not live up to the expectations it has set for itself. However, I’m still very positive on how this game will turn out, because even if it’s not a masterpiece, it’ll definitely be something unique and a refreshing change from all that modern warfare shit that’s out there. Can’t wait to kick ass and chew bubblegum. Welcome back Duke.

It’s Duke Nukem. Ego meter instead of a health bar says it all.

The problem is… I really really hope DNF BOMBS when it comes out xP. Just to spite all those hard working (ha ha ha ha ha) people who spent 12 years on it basically creating 3 or 4 games in the process (because every time they changed the engine they basically changed the whole game) and collecting money from Take 2.

Plus it’s going to be very average and only thing pushing it forward will be the awesome main character…
    Pretty much.

LOL at the rick roll, its funny too cause in my head i was saying to my self “at the end of the line there is Rick Astley dancing to the countless hours waiting in this fake line” nice one Spoony!!

I couldnt care less for this game, there is no way this game can pull it like Starcraft 2 did….thanks Spoony for the heads up.

  • Anonymous

I remember reading about this game in my favorite gaming magazine. I was so pumped and I couldn’t wait for it to hit the stores. Duke Nukem 3D was my favorite game. The year? 1997…

After all this time the Zero Punctuation review really summed up my feelings.

I’m still going to buy it because I have waited this game for over 10 years.

  • Madpotator

It’s been a long wait. It better be good.

  • http://twitter.com/Solin_Outlander Jay Logan

That Rick Roll moment just made me burst out laughing.

Oh God, the Duke is FINALLY(?) returning to the gaming scene? What is this strange world that I have stumbled upon? Is this a sign of the Apocalypse? Will I be seeing the Four Horsemen come riding past as our world is engulfed in hellfire as the end is nigh?

Really, at this point, I don’t care if the Duke to bring anything new to the table, I just want to play a Duke Nukem game and be entertained by the humour.

    Hail to the Duke, baby!

  • Anonymous

I see you have been learning some tricks with the Irate Gamer.

  • Anonymous

OK, I have never played a Duke Nukem game, I was around 8 years old when Duke Nukem 3D came out, and THIS LOOKS AWESOME!!!!! All I can say is that I want a game that is essentially like playing as exploitation film. Violent, politically incorrect, NO significant levels of realism, and a badass protagonist who doesn’t have or need cover or that regenerating health bull. BRIGHT COLORS, LOUD NOISES, AND DICK JOKES!!!!! From what I hear, the Duke is the man to go to for that. Spoony, I’m a huge fan I’m pretty sure this is my first post on this sight, I’m sure we’re all tired of these gritty, brown fps’s, and if this game doesn’t deliver, I would love to see you RIP IT TO SHREDS!!!!! If it does well, then it does well. Keep being awesome O Spoony One.

  • TOYBOXX

Spoony, this is your best coverage yet! In the recent months at E3 I felt that you were being way too cynical with the games you were seeing. Even judging them before they’re released. Personally that turned me away from your website for awhile until the E3 buzz blew over then I came back. What we needed, at the time, was additional info to what the games were about, and not an opinion piece to how bad the graphics looked on a particular trailer or what not. However, with PAX you gathered information pertaining to the games and asked the right questions that the audience was thinking. I’m glad to see that you reserved your opinions and just shown what you saw.

So kudos to you Mr. Spoony! Keep ‘em coming.

  • http://www.deviantart.com/chibigingi ChibiGingi

It’s about bloody TIME they got the ball rolling with this game. Though, I would have loved for it to have been a practical joke this whole time- the Rick Roll was perfect.

  • Anonymous

Spoony, I have to disagree with you! This game is worth the hype IF they don’t fuck it up like Id with Doom 3. They can’t make PG-13, it must be R, and they have to make it very similar to the Duke Nukem 3d game.

  • dennett316

I only hope they’ve kept the epic control scheme that sees you at one point using Duke’s ears to shoot at enemies.

  • Anonymous

If they really release it, I’ll check it out as long as they keep it old school with health power-up and stuff like that. But really, I don’t think this is anymore than smoke and mirror to make us think that it’s coming sometime down the line. Duke Nukem Forever is only there so that no matter how long a game stays in development, we can say that at least it was released faster than DNF.

  • http://twitter.com/thedrunkendan dan mcdermott

as long as it’s funny and fun to play I should be happy

Reality is cracked! Fantasy is bleeding into existence! The universe as we know it is coming to an end, and it turns out that Star Wars Episode One was a good movie… All this and Satan finally has to make good with those ice skating tickets he was selling off when he was just getting started.

Duke Nukem Forever exists? My god (not the duke but close) I never thought this was going to come out. Seriously, I might even be temped to play it.

    Hail to the King

At last! It’s here! Hopefully! *Crosses all his fingers and toes and punches a block of wood* Okay… Hopefully that’ll avoid a jinx.

I knew after Chinese Democracy dropped that it was only a matter of time before we’d see Duke Nukem Forever.

  • Anonymous

I like the pansy who’s complaining about the game being sexist. Maybe he wants a game where the main character chases guys instead of women. I can’t stand people like that who will purposely wait to see something they’ve already decided they don’t like. What the hell is wrong with those people? If you know your a pansy and don’t like something why bother with it? So people that do enjoy it can listen to your whining? In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger “what a girlie man”. This is Duke F’n Nukem! This game requires balls to play. I think he thought he was in the line for “Hello Kitty Forever” and was too embarrassed to leave.

  • Anonymous

Lets not forget there was a playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever at E3 oh.. 6 years ago? And really after 12 years, every copy of the game better come with a clone of that schoolgirl to sexually gratify me while I play.

I’m 21 going on 22, i don’t remember much of the Duke so i think i will probably enjoy this more then even the old hardcore players. I dig throwback games, no matter if i get them or i don’t, i hated Unreal Tournament 2 and all the 2k games because they didn’t feel like Unreal Tournament to me and i fucking loved UT3 (most people did not).

Anywho i will pick up a copy of the duke, its hard to get mad at a fellow who is so goddamn smooth.

  • http://twitter.com/thisgamesux THiSGaMeSuX

    Ebay man, ebay. thats why.

There have been worse character traits in a game’s protagonists then sexist, by the way, its a FUCKING GAME. Most protagonists are murderers for Christ’s sake!

  • Anonymous

    I won’t buy it.

  • Anonymous

Those pictures on the wall were such a good idea lol. I hope they are in the actual game maybe at Duke’s house or something. Basically it just reinforces the idea that Duke Nukem is the most manly man to ever live. It’s not really sexist either since its meant to be a joke. Duke Nukem isn’t a serious superhero. On second thought I take that back I don’t want him to rip off my head an **** down my neck.

  • http://twitter.com/OpenMawTwitting Steven Johnson

There was never a playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever. Never. They had a trailer in 98, and a trailer in 2001, but they NEVER had a playable version that was open to the public to try.

I’m buying it just for the mythos surrounding it’s history.

  • http://cassave.deviantart.com/ Anonymous

If it has the same monsters, humour, gameplay AND Jon St. John as the voice of Duke Nukem, I’m buying it. They ought to stick as close to the original game as possible.

  • Anonymous

I like that you were forced to take still frames, as if they’re trying really really hard to convince people it’s not really coming out.

  • Anonymous

When I seen the Rick Roll, I didn’t know whether to cry or to burst out laughing.

I still think the best review of Duke Nukem Forever is by Zero Punctuation.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kirzan Michael Coulombe

GT has some vids, you can find them all over to be honest. It looks boring as shit. But hey… as Noah said, some people will play this just for the hell of it. Kinda like Half-Life 2 except there’s a story in Half-Life 2.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Treima Jimi Alexander

I gotta say, your coverage of PAX is definitely improved over your E3 performance, particularly your choice to do voice-over narration rather than trying to shout live over the din of the convention hall. Nice work!

  • Anonymous

And the fact that Half-Life 2 was a game changer and- URG! No! Do not go on a tirade bout this! /slaps self

Anyhow, I might pick it up since I’ve never actually played a Duke game. I really like Gearbox works with games and just takes it to a very unusual level, usually rather good.

  • Anonymous

Ha…I was five feet from this while he was filming. I actually was in line right behind the first two people he talked to, and I spent the whole time in line talking to those guys. I’m probably in here in the corner of the screen somewhere.

  • Anonymous

I’ll be honest, I’m more excited for Civilization V than this. Still, I find it pretty amusing to find that this has actually been picked up again after the longest postponement in video game history.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mick-Foley/100001363324241 Mick Foley

And hopefully, as opposed to Chinese Democracy, it will be an enjoyable experience.

  • http://twitter.com/paburu Juan Pablo Lomeli

So, basically Duke nukem forever it’s just like StarCraft2, more of the same old game, with better graphics and some enhancements, but who cares, HE’S DUKE!

BTW i almost close the video when you rickrolled

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ian-Gilmore/100001348022275 Ian Gilmore

Honestly i don’t care anymore. im not gonna get it if it comes out. sorry guys you had your chance, 10 years ago.

  • http://twitter.com/Deimos1984ad Zak Mahmud

I am looking forward to Duke coming out (finally) but you know for 10 years it really should of been better, I will get it though because as Spoony said it’s basically a Duke game and that’s all I need for Duke I enjoyed Duke 3d and I’ll probably enjoy this one…that would be fucked up if they did put a rick roll instead of the actual game lol.

  • Renaissance_nerd

fuck you Spoony for rick rolling me!

anyway, yea Starcraft 2 was more of the same and it is an awesome game, sometimes if it aint broke don’t fix it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/TornadoCreator Billy McKenna

YOU BASTARD!!! Way to jump on the bandwagon of internet memes by the way (did I mention you’re a bastard, for a minute I thought I might actually see some of the game).

There’s a reason it’s calld what it is. Duke Nukem Forever In Production.

  • Renaissance_nerd

well the game was playable i don’t recall 3D realms even getting that far

  • http://twitter.com/EpicCardboard Epic Cardboard

I wanted to punch that guy who said Duke Nukem is “dated, repetitive, immature and sexist” right in his smug face.

  • Anonymous

They’d fucking better! Megadeth is awesome, and the game would be even more disappointing if they’d switched. (Seriously, do we need another average plot-less shooter out there? We have to fucking many already.)

  • http://twitter.com/Das_Bass Matt DiPasquale

Now if you get some photos of Half-Life 2 ep-3 ( like this it might look and feel the same, but who gives a fuck it’s Half-Life) It would make me the happiest person in New York.

  • Anonymous

that kid at 1:30 is 24? I call bullshit. The game, from what I’ve seen, looks awesome and as a PC die hard I am stoked.

  • Anonymous

Honestly, I think shooters are getting too ‘serious’. Even the ‘not serious’ ones try to make it seem as though it’s ‘realistic’. Would be nice to see a return to simpler times, where you could just charge into a room full of enemies and blow most of them away with a couple BFG blasts.. then mop up the stragglers with an overpowered, double barrel shotgun. At least that concept was fun.

Pretty sad when an old and dated idea like Duke Nukem 3D comes off as being slightly more fresh to me 12 or so years later. Most modern FPS games are boring to me, whereas the older, mostly plotless games.. like Wolf3D, Doom/2, and Quake.. I still play.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Andres-ZombieMan-Guzman/100001028660386 Andres ZombieMan Guzman

Well is not the same thing saying ” waiting for 12 years” as saying ” being produce for 12 years”. As far as we know they could have been restarting the game from zero every 3 years or something.

I’m just hopping for a fun game with cool graphics and that they can start a new franchise with that game.

  • Anonymous

I lol’d hard when you rick roll’d us.

But as far as bringing nothing new to the table…honestly, what more CAN be brought to the table? Most everything that could be done in an FPS has already been done. The biggest goal to aim for now should just be making an enjoyable experience. I just hope this game is of decent length and has some good multiplayer, because god knows we don’t need another 4 hour game on the market.

  • Anonymous

“As far as we know they could have been restarting the game from zero every 3 years or something. ”
That’s basically it, yeah. (No really.)

  • Anonymous

He really was an asshole, you could see it on his face. It begs the question why he’s in line if he hates it so much. Besides, the whole point of Duke Nukem is that he *is* these qualities – you know not every character in every game has to be politically correct. Sometimes, we just like playing a badass motherfucker with a kickass gun and some awesome one-liners to spout as we gun down hordes of Generic Bad Guys.

NOBODY kills our chicks…. and lives.

  • Anonymous

Hell, I think I may buy it just for the gamer legacy. This game is legendary by now, so even if it totally sucks, it’s still awesome somehow.

  • Yes, I have one. Thanks.

Holy fucking shit!!! The graphics are superb, have an 80s flair, and Duke is younger and he can sing! Amazing!!!

  • http://twitter.com/Mecahawk Tyler Burnette

Great. Now we’ve got Duke Nukem Forever.
Now we just have to get on Blizzard’s case about Ghost

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/44DJX27OKQMDWSR5JAOM5Q76C4 Tony

My interest in Duke Nukem died the day I turned 16, 11 years later and I still have very little interest in the series. It’s cool that it’s finally coming out and I’m sure it will be a financial success by name alone, but everything about it screams “cookie cutter FPS” to me. Maybe that’s exactly what the fans want and more power to them, at least now the Forever joke will finally be put to sleep…forever.

  • Anonymous

I think FPS games have reached a point where every single one that gets released could be dubbed ‘cookie cutter’.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pat-Closson/100000304267651 Pat Closson

Is it sad I was more excited to try to see myself in one of these videos than thoughts on the game? We all know it’s gonna be pure and utter cheese… and that’s going to be what makes it fun!

  • Anonymous

Took too long. Not interested any more. Duke was bad ass and a great game for a 10-year-old, but I’m not 10 any more.

  • Anonymous

I’ve forever lost my ability to care. I know it’s “still Duke”, but I’m quite sick of the same old crap in shooters. Out of all the genres in gaming, the FPS has evolved the least, and I doubt it will ever go beyond where it is now. From a business perspective, it’s counter-productive anyway. Just keep reviving old franchises and everybody’s happy. Well, everybody except people like me.

  • Renaissance_nerd

Your right your not 10 anymore but if we lose our childhood then the world no longer holds and magic or wonder, if that is the case for you then i feel sorry for you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mattias-Granlund/100000618693819 Mattias Granlund

agreed, not every FPS need to break grounds, or stir our souls with deep plots, sometimes it can be fun just to boot up a game and blast some monsters, if done Right DNF is gonna be that kind of a game

    Hail to the king baby!

  • Anonymous

Yeah the only thing left for FPS genre this point is incorporating elements from other genre’s. Like Borderlands. Or an MMO. Like Planetside only worth playing for more than a month or two.

Saying DNF looks generic is not really being fair. Cause lets face it do any of the other FPS’s coming out this year look original? Most are Call of Duty clones. Only one i’m really hyped for is Deus Ex. All I want from DNF is a solid fun game that does Duke 3D justice. Though I might wait for a sale.

I think that it was worth the wait man, I played that game when I was like 5 years old(Appropriate ya?) and I loved it more than anything.
I know that I’m going to buy it when it comes out!

It had to have come out after all of that hype or else that would have been the LARGEST kick in the groin that would have happened since Final Fantasy VIII!

  • Murphy

Good lord, Duke Nukem 3D was the first shooter I ever played. I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS!!!

  • Anonymous

    Still buy it i guess

  • saint23thomas

I’ve gotta side with LordKat on this.
Anybody that actually buys this game is basically saying to the game companies that the industry-gamer relationship isn’t a producer-consumers relationship, where the gamer has power, but is, instead, a dealer-addict relationship and they have complete control.

    • saint23thomas

It seems that I may have slightly underestimated the percentage of gamers that don’t mind telling the powers-that-be that any amount of dicking around can be forgiven, as long as the fanboys get their next franchise fix.For some reason, I suddenly feel like wearing a fancy hat and talking really fast… how odd.

Finally a Rick Roll that was actually hilarious.

  • Renaissance_nerd

i disagree, buying this game is supporting Duke Nukem and saying that we still care.

3-D Realms in disgrace has ahd their name stripped from the product like a dishonorable discharge. Also 3-D Realms doesn’t exist anymore so supporting this game will be supporting Duke not a failed company. The Delusional leader of 3-D Realms now has a privately employed position at 2k like a bad dog just tied to his leash.

As fucking dumb as this directly following observation might read I do have to say that I’m more surprised that gamers are actually surprised that DNF is actually going to be completed. Don’t get me wrong it being actually playable at PAX was a rather massive surprise, but the same doesn’t go for its’ survival. After all the money invested into the DNF’s development scrapping it completely was no longer an option 5 years ago. George Broussard has no one to blame but himself for completely destroying any credibility he may at one time had, and turning himself into a pariah in the gaming industry. I think the anger/hate being thrown at him for dragging his ass is completely reasonable.

Personally I don’t really hold that as my main criticism on the man, I grew up and still am a NIN fan which as a side effect forces you to adopt patience as a virtue. So I can somewhat understand he wanted to make the best Nukem game possible, and usually I find it admirable when a company holds back releasing a title until it is the best game possible. Although if Broussard had half a brain he would have proved progress was being made by showing fans/investors game play footage, instead of a couple screen shots per year. What really pisses me off about George is that thanks to his moronic handling of DNF the original development team before Gearbox took over will most likely get little to no credit for all their work. Now after busting their asses build after build for over a decade it will probably feel to them like a complete waste. Even worse is the fact that if 2k canned them they will have to include working on a game widely believed to be vaporware on their updated resumes. So George Broussard a man who at one time long ago considered a “genius” in the industry has managed to allow the franchise that put him on the map get stuck in the position where it is being finished for the wrong reasons( meaning it is being made to recoup losses instead of to entertain), as well as severely tarnish (at the very least) the careers of the people who are the main reason there was anything to show at PAX in regards to proving DNF’s existence. I’m sure Gearbox had enough time to atleast polish up a playable demo but seeing as how recent the rights acquisition there is no was responsible for anything more then maybe 25% of it.

Sorry for the lengthy comment, and I hope my being exhausted did not cause my writing to become incomprehensible. Just to sort of clarify I’m not trying to say DNF is destined to suck. Gearbox has proved their potential several times in past releases. I just feel that loss recuperation as a motivation never ends up doing anything even remotely positive for video games. Regardless of whether the game has more negative or positive things going for it the last thing I will say is that it will be fucking awesome to get reacquainted with Duke and finally have another epic adventure filled to the brim with alien blood/gore, cheesy on-liners, ridiculously silly looking strippers, and many other franchise stables.

Wow… hard to believe. I thought Duke Nukem was going to be sitting on his firey throne of development hell for all eternity

Feel really anti-climactic. I was hoping for a game to blow away all others but then again I suppose thats because of all the…oh….12 years of HYPE!!!!! I suppose any game that’s been hyped that long is destined to be anti-climactic :P

  • Anonymous

Wow, they had an actual playable demo? That’s a first. I think the furthest they ever got previously was a lengthy gameplay trailer…which devolved into a trailer of a bunch of cutscenes…which devolved into a rendered CGI movie of Duke doing weight-curls.

I have to admit, I never played the original Duke Nukem 3D. I didn’t own a PC until 1996 (I’ve always been a devoted Mac user), and I didn’t get into first-person shooters until very recently as a direct result of that. So I’ve watched the Duke Nukem Forever saga unfold from a unique perspective; that of a person who genuinely didn’t give a crap if the game ever got released or not. And it’s just been downright shameful to watch; between the fanboys getting their hopes up and seeing them dashed time and time again, and the developers making excuse after excuse, it was like a slow-motion trainwreck; I just couldn’t look away. I’d be hard pressed to find a better example of what’s wrong with the game industry today than the shitstorm of hype that was Duke Nukem Forever. And now, seeing it on the verge of release is, well…cathartic. It feels cleansing. Hell, I’ll buy a copy just so I can say I own one (though the game actually does look pretty fun).

This is game is so not gonna happen. We should know by now how fucking sneaky Video Games Developers will be. And besides, even if it wasnt fake, it wouldnt be sold much and it would turn rare, PLUS it could be a shitty game. Sure, the demo was good, but thats a demo. The full game could be complete shit and will just be another money wasting game that you dont like at all. Besides, who would seriously think this game will EVER release its ass after SO MANY YEARS!?!

  • Renaissance_nerd

because a totally different company has it now and 2k has a proven track record of not only releasing games but making pretty good ones to boot.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

    That’ll do, Duke. That’ll do.
(I love those pictures wrapped around the DNF site, as if to show you what he’s been up to all these years. XD)

You…you mean we won’t be able to crack jokes about Duke Nukem Forever anymore after this? Dear God…we’re losing our material!

But I doubt it’ll be out in 2011. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game I actually want to come out on time…come out on time. Maybe if we all hope it won’t come out on time it actually will. Reverse psychology.

    (But seriously…Duke Nukem? wow…)

That’s an interesting way to put it…I know I’ve played every Pokemon game that’s been out since Red, but that’s because I enjoy them….even though I’ll be the first to admit the plots are recycled and it’s only the details that are changed in each game. And EVERYONE in the fandom keeps wondering when they’re going to finish scraping the barrel for Pokemon animal ideas…but we still enjoy playing the games, so we gripe a bit, but we don’t stop. I don’t see it as an addiction…I see it as ‘this is something I enjoy playing. The benefit to the company is forty dollars, and the benefit to me is hundreds of hours of entertainment.’

I think if someone is buying the Duke Nukem game because they plan to enjoy the game, there’s no reason to assume it’s like an addiction. It’s because they plan to enjoy the game. You might as well say that someone will buy a Zelda game because they’re addicted to Zelda, or Mario, or whatever. If you know there’s a series with a proven formula that you like, you’re more likely to go to it again. And Spoony is saying this game has stuck with the formula the Duke Nukem fans want. I know the Pokemon fans right now are getting pretty pissed off because the formula in the anime’s being messed with–if the games were messed with, we’d be even MORE annoyed. So why be mad that they didn’t try to push? Sometimes people want oatmeal, not caviar, because it’s comforting.

If it hits store shelves then it’s official. Mean time this is the…second?….Third? Fourth time they were at a convention saying “We’re comming out with Duke Nukem Forever”? I lost track. I’ve seen screen shots, reviews, and what not about it. It’s as bad as STAR CRAFT GHOST (which is to be on the PS3 and XBOX 360 now?) so right now….It’s not official until I see it at a GameStop.

I’d laugh for days on end if this didn’t come out in 2011, and was pushed back to 2021.
