glaDOS sounds even more psychopathic this time

    Can’t wait for this game!!!

There is no CAKE! The cake is a LIE!!!!

  • Anonymous

This game… it just… I didn’t think they could out do the original, but I think this may actually be a sequel that I like more than the original. This is a rare thing, and it doesn’t happen very often, but I’m predicting it here.

Co-op is gonna be so great…

  • http://www.vgboxart.com/author/alldreamsfalldown/ Anonymous

This is going to be beyond epic.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Oliver-Meyer/1288596186 Oliver Meyer

Huh, well I’m glad I’m Still Alive to see this. *bump* Ow, I kicked myself, why?!

Srsly though, this one looks like it’s going to wipe the floor with pretty much everything once it comes out. Glad to see there’s still some real creativity in a mainstream gaming company.

  • http://renaissance-geek.blogspot.com/ Jaebird

I think my brain just farted. Literally.

    Awesome =D

  • http://www.facebook.com/tjmac510 Travis McCollum

It was definitely awesome when I got my hands on it. Sadly my camera died before I interviewed them but I still got some great information out of them. From what they said, and from what I played, this looks awesome.

On a side note the guy did ask me why I was out of breath when I was interviewing him and playing the game. I direct you to the video below.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kieron-Overton/100001471542176 Kieron Overton

From Narbacular Drop to this, the ingenuity of these guys is astounding.

  • TimADugan

I cannot WAIT for this to come out. It looks like they’ve done an amazing job with this sequel.

  • http://twitter.com/Merc1987 Hal Jones

I must be in the tiny percentage that makes up the thrid group, those who didn’t like portal.

  • http://twitter.com/Das_Bass Matt DiPasquale

HOLY SHIT! can’t wait for this game!

Valve is still infallible. Super excited for Portal 2!

  • Anonymous

    Ugh…
Am I the only one sick of Portal? Creative, innovative, unique…perhaps.
But for God’s sake, SHUT UP ABOUT IT.
Don’t even get me started on ‘the cake’.

  • Anonymous

Just so you know, the liquid thing comes from the indie game Tag: The Power of Paint. So Valve is good and finding talented indies and hiring them. Looking forward to this but I would hope Valve would say anything, ANYTHING about the continuation of Half-Life some time soon.

  • http://twitter.com/Leithinan Tova Vikström

I so don’t trust that voice! It annoyed me through the whole game, though it didn’t make the game itself bad :) Gotta buy it, when it’s released! Even if the cake indeed is a lie :(

  • http://www.facebook.com/Novak83 Ed Novak

Tiny, hell. I think you’re alone.

  • http://twitter.com/jim350z Jamie Mitchell

i love the dark humor and not to mention Glados. the sooner the release the better oh yeah spoony you lucky basterd.

  • Anonymous

    Glados is even more evil.
I wouldn’t be surprised if she was Insano’s nurse ;p

  • TheGreatCommenter

Oh my God, I must have it! Like… right now!

    *jaw drop*

  • http://twitter.com/Merc1987 Hal Jones

Probably. I think this one looks better, but i think it was also due to the fact i was sick of that cake is a lie joke, sick of still alive, and the game was so overhyped that when i played it i was like “that’s it?”. A lot of people said well yeah its a short game what did you expect, but the hype that was given to me i expected it to bring on the second coming (or at least be a bit more varied. The mechanic was cool, but you do one portal puzzle, you petty much done them all).

    • Anonymous

yea Portal was a game that if you didn’t get in early the fandom could have ruined it for you.

  • Just Another Stranger

All I have to say is, “Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”

Although I’m not sure if that squeel of excited delight was long enough.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joseph-Ho/546003853 Joseph Ho

Getting excited about an apparent full upgrade to a game that was viewed as perfection by many is something to talk about. I absolutely loved the first Portal, told all my friends about it, had them play it, and then listened to how much they loved it. Spreading the word on excellent games rather than another Madden or another Gears of War ripoff is absolutely necessary in order for shiny gold games to prosper in today’s brown and gray shooter industry.

… And calm down guy… how about some cake?

  • Renaissance_nerd

“Don’t disappoint me… or I’ll make you wish you could die”

GlaDos is just so bad assed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/niQboy Nico Havia

Oh damn, I was expecting an interview! Damn you Spoony bard!

  • Anonymous

Yes, you are the only one.

  • Anonymous

I’m interested in Portal 2 again.

  • Bandyman

    PORTAL 2!!! YAY!!!!

  • Anonymous

Am I the only one who dosen’t like that voice? It really make doupt the awesomeness of the game. :/

  • http://www.facebook.com/AtlasRedux Johnny Lunder

What, on Macs??? Who the heck wanna play games on a computer that has crappy hardware for twice the price and crashes more often than Windows 95 o.0

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julian-K-Quesada/100000144733462 Julian K Quesada

Portal 2 is the only game that I have actually had to stand back and clap for.

  • Anonymous

To me, it’s like Mad Men or Glee. Critically acclaimed, yet I’ve never met anyone who likes it.
Except Portal actually has redeeming features, besides the ‘critic spam’.

  • Anonymous

    Which voice? GLaDOS’s voice?

  • Anonymous

    yes.

  • Anonymous

    Adoptive mother seems more appropriate.

  • Renaissance_nerd

funny thing that. You do know these games are being designed on macs? mac has been the superior platform for designing 3D for years.

Is it wrong that my favorite part was the robots hugging? D’awww.

You’re entirely right, but they’re still inferior for gaming simply because they have a lot less support.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Richard-Abbott/100000298506145 Richard Abbott

I imagine people who own Macs.

I mean, that might be making kind of a broad assumption but that’s my two cents.

  • Anonymous

You’ve never met anyone who likes it? Really? I’ve heard so many people reference Portal it isn’t funny.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pierre-Chanliau/1084524377 Pierre Chanliau

    Why?

  • Anonymous

Referencing it and actually liking it enough to replay it are quite different in my book, but the spontaneous ‘references’ are one of my biggest gripes about it.

  • Anonymous

Wait, so how long is the single-player campaign compared to the two-player campaign?

  • http://twitter.com/Okanehira Okanehira

her voice is awesome at the end “I’ll make you wish you could die”

    …Wow.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nathan-D-Crumpler/1426356581 Nathan D. Crumpler

These guys have created the greatest game ever, you Monsters!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nathan-D-Crumpler/1426356581 Nathan D. Crumpler

Will there be deathmatch? ’cause I can imagine some one picking up one of the android turrets and using them as an auto-aiming machine gun.

  • TheGreatCommenter

And you know this because…. you own one or something? I’m sorry to disappoint you, but even after a year my Mac still performs at peak performance. Why are you bringing this age-old discussion up anyway? If you love PC, use a PC, enjoy it, and let people enjoy their Macs. Different computer systems suit different kinds of people.

  • Anonymous

It’s the same voice as Portal 1. GLaDOS has her… charms :) She grows on you.

Looks like a pretty solid sequel. On the one hand its kind of repetitive to be the same chick apparently still trapped in the same lab an going up against GLADOS again. But hell it almost wouldn’t be Portal otherwise. At least on the game mechanics front it looks like there is a lot of new stuff to overcome. Co-Op isn’t that big a deal to me but it should be amusing to run through it once or twice. An i’m sure the couples an friends Valve is aiming for will love it.

The one thing that gets me though is I thought maybe this was going to be tying into the Half Life series. But if she has been in stasis for a hundred years or more then maybe not.

  • http://twitter.com/Deimos1984ad Zak Mahmud

I loved Portal and seeing this one I cannot wait for it to come out, well there go my sleeping hours.

  • Anonymous

As soon as I have the money for it, it will be mine. I am one of those people who knows that Valve can do no wrong. Just… You know… Ep 3…

  • http://twitter.com/Doomknight66 Matthew Barr

I’m gonna agree here, I honestly never liked portal, but that’s just because i don’t like puzzle games but the whole ZOMG PORTAL IZ SO AWESOME really gets old, and yes the damn cake too

  • http://twitter.com/Psych02K Sicco Miedema

    yeah where is ep3 btw?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mario-Selenz/100001471612133 Mario Selenz

OH MY GOD…Why isn’t it 2011 yet…Can’t wait for this game. Portal is the only puzzle game I just can’t get bored of. I really hope this game is as awesome as is looks. But I think its save to say that it will not be disappointing.

wow… never gotten to see a portal game played before, think I might have to try and get a hold of this one for myself

  • http://twitter.com/CedarMusketeer Bryan Gardner

I couldn’t agree more, not having Chell in Portal 2 would be like not bringing Gorden Freeman back for Half-life 2.

    Dude.

It’s a robotic Bert and Ernie.

    That’s fucking metal.

Definitely sent chills up my spine.

Aaah, glados, as crazy as always :)

  • http://twitter.com/random_ninja5 Eric Hesselberg

oh hell yes. I was so hooked on portal that I had to borrow a PC so I could play it. And play it I did. I lost count of how many times I ran through the game, each time figuring out different ways to complete the challenges. And now it gets even better. Multi platform AND on Apple computers now. And GlaDos has got to be one of my favorite villains, I’m glad she’s back. And I’m gonna take her apart and throw those pieces into a fire all over again. I am greatly anticipating this game. Animals and small children void their bowels in the awesome presence of Portal 2.

That. Is. The. Best. Trailer. EVER! (The one at the end I mean)

All trailers should be something like that. Most trailers nowadays only show you big flashy cutscenes without telling you anything about the game. But this… damn!

Fun fact, VALVe actually originally were going to have Portal 2 start out with another character, until they realized instantly that GLaDOS and the player already had an established connection and relationship from the first game, having a new character would make the relationship with GLaDOS completely different and disconnect the player.

So they wanted to continue that relationship during the next game.

Also, you actually get to explore the labs this time around unlike the last game where all you saw where broken down pipes and empty rooms.

    So, yeah.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pierre-Chanliau/1084524377 Pierre Chanliau

They’ve tried and they’ve said it isn’t as fun as it sounds.

And when you think about it, it isn’t. People would be trying to Portal under people’s feet all the time and people would just be bunny hoping.

    It wouldn’t work. At all.

  • TheGreatCommenter

Then I wish you many more enjoyable years with your PC, Johnny :-)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pierre-Chanliau/1084524377 Pierre Chanliau

They’ve said that the single player campaign is twice as long as the one from the first game, so that gives you around 7-8 hours as they’ve said Portal was 3-4 hours long.

They also said that co-op is the same length or even longer than the single player campaign.

So that gives you around 16 hours of game play.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_R3LZLLNJ4KQVONLLV32DE3IORY Akseli Ihansama

I have to agree there. GLaDOS did have some pretty funny lines in Portal, but if she does in Portal 2 too, it sure isn’t showing in this trailer.

Then again, maybe the robotic monotone is just plain old now. We’ve seen that already and it’s no longer enough to make the jokes funny by itself.

  • Anonymous

the trailer for the cooperative gameplay is simply amazing! i havent seen it before and i was really wondering how they would pull that off… im impressed!^^
and yeah, my first thought after seeing the trailers, gameplay videos and all that was that the puzzles in this game will be very very evil…
oh man, ill SO muy this game!^^

  • Anonymous

    I don’t know… It’s just how it sounds to me I guess. ^^

  • http://twitter.com/CedarMusketeer Bryan Gardner

I love how GLaDOS describes the two androids. You don’t know Pride, you don’t know Fear, you don’t know ANYTHING. You will be perfect.

  • Anonymous

    I… NEED… that… game…

I loved Portal and this seriously looks like it’s going to be awesome. I hope the single player is a bit longer than the first game though.

    Grow up.

This game looks too amazing to be true!

  • Anonymous

Okay I didn’t care that much before, since sequels generally tend to ruin something but… now I really want this game.

  • http://twitter.com/xxDrCrackbone Matt

I was sold when I first heard that it would be more than a tech demo, like the last game was. The Goo was just the icing on the cake.

  • Anonymous

So this was just an ad.
None of their people wanted to talk to you, Spoony, or did none of them come?
    I’m guessing the latter.

  • Anonymous

    … Well, uh.

    Haters gonna hate, I guess.

  • http://twitter.com/xxDrCrackbone Matt

I didn’t know about the goo until know. So it wasn’t completely an advertisement.

Have you even seen the goo?!?!?!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CFHNLO6IDD53WEZQTWTXZK7YE4 Nauj

i wonder if the robots will become self aware like skynet in the terminator series maybe not maybe so who knows but if they were that would be a huge plot hole

  • http://www.facebook.com/Luis.O.S.P Luis Omar Solorzano Porras

ok i have to be honest, when i first learned their would be a portal 2, i was completely against it, i didnt thought they could be able to come up with enough innovation for it, and that it was going to pretty much be a map bundle with better graphics, BUT having seen this video, i have to say they shut me up real good!!!!, valve truly is amazing, and i have to say this game looks awesome, cant wait to get XD

  • http://twitter.com/shadowbird712 Jeremy K.

I actually played Tag, and I loved the concepts they created in that game. nice to see their ideas are paying off for them (in more ways than one) in a big-budget, mainstream game.

  • Anonymous

Or maybe they’re too cool for that.

  • Anonymous

Is killing people all people think about?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pierre-Chanliau/1084524377 Pierre Chanliau

The last one wasn’t so much a tech demo, more of an experiment they’ve said.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pierre-Chanliau/1084524377 Pierre Chanliau

I hope this doesn’t become a meme, it’s been going around a lot.

  • Anonymous

No, hating is writing “Spoony, stop wasting your mothafuckin’ time on wrasslin’ and these Goddamn tradeshows, and get back to giant Dizzy Gillespie.” I was just pointing out that it’s lazy to send a game demo out there and not have some corporate talking head answer the media’s questions (and Spoony’s part of the media now.)

  • Anonymous

I was hoping Portal 2 would be out. And it looks awesome! I just wish it isn’t too difficult. I’ll admit, I’m not very good at puzzle games, and that whole 4 portals thing along with the goo allows for just mind bending complexity in the puzzles. Only one bad thing from Valve: Still no news of episode 3.

  • http://thenewyawker.darkbb.com/ Tylarannosaurus Rex

I never played Portal, but dang those them there graphix shore r purty!

Portal is a puzzle game of beautiful simplicity and complexity and (in my opinion) the flawless execution of teaching through gradual steps. for $10 you should try it. For Science, Cake, and the Love of a inanimate storage container.

no reason robots can’t be self aware. They are probably better of without it if GLadOS is running the show. But any machine who constantly alters the laws of physics has to question nature of reality at some point.

I’m really starting to wonder if I’m the only one on this planet that actually DIDN’T like Portal? It was painfully easy and super short. If we should treat it as experiment, then it was… ok, I guess. Now Portal 2 have a chance of being a lot better but I’m very, very sceptical.

I already liked what I’ve seen of Portal 2, but I had some epic lulz when they sprayed the repulsion gel all over the smart turrets, sending them bouncing around like pinballs. That was straight awesome.
