Walt Whitman warned us, but we didn’t listen.

That was amazing. Spoony, I know you had to keep to your own criterion for judging the winners of this contest, but I’m very sorry this didn’t get a prize.

Wow, that one was really good. Very creepy with the voiceover…

    LEAVES OF GRASS MY ASS!

  • Madpotator

This movie certainly deserved the honorable mention. It is simply great.

Who would have guessed the grass played itself in the film?

  • pariah

Well, that 1 certainly was great. You should have made room for more than 3 winners!

Nobody owns a voice like that anymore…. Why is that?

    Hot drinks..

  • Scirocco

I loved this one, probably my favorite ^(^.^)^

The narration creates a forboding mood. These guys did a good job!

Oh man, not even Anduril could stop it! I see what you meant about the Romero feel, too.

Never thought I’d see the day that Walt Whitman could be spooky. Great stuff!

  • Psy Crow

    This is great.

I am glad you enjoyed it so much! We tried to come up with something very original, but interesting!

That was… really quite good. It surprised me at how well the simple narration worked.

  • Princess Stabbity

I can dig it. Seriously that was pretty fab. The mood was great. I love the credit to the Sun for lighting. That hot ball of fire can be such a diva if not given proper credit. Just sayin’.

This was great! Thanks! To be honest, I would have put it in the top 3, but oh well, it still got the credit it deserved and thats what matters!

I think it would be a good idea for all the contestants who didn’t win to send their films to student film contests or short film exhibitions because all of them are very good. People have been offered jobs on the weight of a short film alone, so i would not pass that opportunity up.

Good times, seriously, though the “Insano to Fox News: ‘I did it! Not Obama! Me!’ ” gag made me laugh so hard that it kinda broke the mood.

    Nevertheless, quality joke there. Hehe.

interesting video. The naration is really well made. I wish it had a little more life thought.
and the death of the 4 guys didn’t look that dramatic. I mean they didn’t look that afected when they saw their friends die.
I’m just saing. I see why this wasn’t number 1.
on the up side the Insano gag was awsome! really awsome!

THis was a very artistic piece. I loved it and it actually made me cry. Not in terror, but at the simple beauty it portrays. God a sound like an art critic.

Anduril couldn’t beat this grass! Dr. Insano obviously outdid himself if he made grass that could topple the sword that made Sauron its bitch!

L-long…live Insano? Y-yeah! (clap quickly, before he kills us all)

Wowza…. I see what you meant by gras- I mean class.

Oh, if we had some sense of foreshadowing or immediate warning of this menace, we would have treated Dr.Nye as a hero instead of a madman.

  • Poipoi

Once again pretty awesome work. I would have hated to decide who the top three winners were.

The narration alone made this one awesome.. the tie-ins to Dr. Insano just added to it.

Over 20 yrs ago when I was in high school, I had an interesting English teacher. It was her job and duty to teach our curriculum, which included both Walt Whitman and his renown work, “Leaves of Grass.” The trouble was, she hated Whitman, I think she found him to be rather a wuss. She also especially hated LoG. She would take a book and say stuff like, “Leaves of grass, leaves of grass! Take your stupid leaves of grass and go away!” All the while pantomiming herself smashing the grass with a copy of LoG.Then she would pretend to tap dance on the grass. Hard. If I had been one of the wise ones who made this film, I might have dedicated this to her. However, this well done film will always remind me of her in a large way. Thank you guys. It’s been a long time since I thought of her. But if she ever saw this, I’m fairly certain she would approve.

I liked the movie, for some reason I kept thinking about the Treehouse of Horror where Homer is in Poe’s “The Raven.”

Honestly though, I have no freaking clue what Whitman’s poem is about… or any other famous poem for that matter. Darn you self-interpretation!
