Snake Eater did have a cool story concept,
but I still laugh when Zero says that World War II was won by the Cobra Unit, who consist of…

a dude with a crossbow who talks and acts like Gollum,
a ghost whisperer who spends his afterlife making cardboard hobo signs (CHANGE?!),
a sleepy old sniper with googly eyes,

    an disgruntled astronaut with pyromania,
and the Resident Evil 4 merchant who controls bees.

    • http://UnholyFireDragon.com Unholy Fire Dragon

I’m randomly picturing the hobo just breaking the 4th wall and saying something like “CHANGE! I want [input rehashed game here] to CHAAANGE! Oh come on, help a player out! CHANGE!”. LOL

You just gave me an idea.  An idea for Spoony (if he notices or even considers this),

but since “Spencer D. Bum” was killed off in the Final Fantasy X review, it may be a funny gag to make Spencer into a ghost.  He could be semi-transparent, never talk, and do the same thing as “The Sorrow” did and hold up cardboard signs written in thick marker expressing jokes.

The signs could have one-liners written on them kinda like Wily Coyote but with more relation to Spoony’s humor about the games or movies he reviews.

Bees are a lethal weapon ya know, as both Nicholas Cage and Batman can attest to.

      NOT THE BEES!!! ARRRRRGGHHH!!!!!!
      ….Bees. My God.

They can be used to strategically ward off enemies as demonstrated by Chris Farley as well

no thoughts on MGS Rising? Or are you saving it for its own video?

  • http://twitter.com/86TheJehuty M.A Ajab

You got Peace Walker , and you haven’t played it yet !? o_O

    HOW COULD YOU !?!

REPENT NOW , SINNER ! PLAY THE GAME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE , AND THE MIGHTY LORD KOJIMA MIGHT FORGIVE YOU FOR YOUR DREADFUL SIN ! >:(

no , seriously , play this game whenever you have a free time , It’s the best MGS game ever made for the PSP , it has so many things to do , Base management , co-op sneaking , co-op boss fighting , weapons gathering , staff recruitment from the battlefield or via hotspots if you near a strong internet connection point , extra missions and more that I can’t spoil it to you , the game easily blow Portable ops out of the water !

there’s only one little problem if you wanna enjoy the online aspect of the game , though

the game support only Ad-hoc online system , so if there’s no one near you have the game on his PSP , you got to have a PS3 connected to an ethernet of your online modem , download (Ad-hoc Party) app to your system via PSN , and choose a lobby where there’s other players playing the game.

that , or you can simply wait for the upcoming PS3/360 HD remasterd edition later this year. :P

Hey does anyone know when these games will be coming out I didn’t hear any dates mentioned and I am psyched for all of these games.

    • http://twitter.com/random_ninja5 Eric Hesselberg

From what I understand the MGS HD collection is supposed to be released this holiday season, but I’m not sure about the others games.

      • robinhood9961

Thanks just knowing that is helpful

  • http://twitter.com/random_ninja5 Eric Hesselberg

Peace Walker HD is part of the MGS HD collection which will also consist of MGS2 and MGS3 and be available for PS3 and Xbox 360. But I’m more excited about PW since having the second analogue stick for camera control will greatly help in sneaking around. I’m still playing PW even after a year, I love this game. I wont go into more details about its awesomeness because I’ve already covered it on my blog, but I am anxious to see what they will add to it for the console release.

As for Rising, I don’t know if they announced anything new yet. I follow Kojima Productions on Twitter and their podcast (though I haven’t listened to their E3 podcast yet) and haven’t heard anything new on MGSR.

MGS is my all time favorite game because its what got me into video games, and I’ve been a loyal fan ever since, so the HD collection has got my interest, and MGS3 was one of the best in the series–mainly for its storytelling. While the camo, weapon/item, and healing system was clunky; it did introduce an urgent concern to not go blundering into a combat situation. The games have always been more focused on stealth, and having it where the player needs to take an active role in deciding Snake’s load out and monitoring his well-being was a great decision on Kojima’s part. (even though having to constantly go into the pause menus was jarring and detracted slightly from the overall action and gameplay–but if you do it when entering or leaving an area, the effect is lessened)

I’m glad Spoony mentioned the MGS games showcased at E3 this year, it’s nice hearing from a fellow Snake fan.

As for Silent Hill…I’ve never been a big Silent Hill fan, but from what I’ve seen, I may check Downpour out for myself. It has piqued my interest more than previous titles.

    Love the E3 vids, Spoony.

Personally, the Konami game i can’t wait for is Zone of the Enders HD.

Konami – One of the last companies with the creativity to properly utilize new systems. Seriously, revamping the game and even using the camera for the camouflage? This has got to be the first game that actually made me stop and consider getting a 3DS. Konami is quickly taking the place of Capcom as one of my favorite all time action oriented game developers. In the creatively bankrupt, risk adverse wasteland of Japanese game companies these days it is nice to see at least one Eastern company still has some balls and some vision. God speed, Hideo Kojima, you amazing, insane, brilliant fuck. God speed.

If you hate quick time events I would avoid peace walker because there is a decent amount of them peppered throughout the cut scenes not to mention how clunky the game feels (lack of fucking analog stick seriously, i had to use the X, Triangle, Square and O) however that game has an absurd amount of hidden content available to the player. one of which includes a fight with a monster hunter version of metal gear rex which I found amusing. So I recommend it only if you have the patience.
Also you get to build your own metal gear and manage an army however you dont get to use them instead you send them into combat and view the results which furthers your ability to create weapons. Its a long story :/

Jacob’s Ladder’s been the Silent Hill schtick since 2. Though it was never more pronounced than in Homecoming where a war ravaged veteran is wheeled into the hospital on a gurney by invisible men (the wheel of the gurney is even shaking…). They were really drawing the line close between homage and maybe-no-one-will-notice rip off. I find it hard to believe Downpour could be any closer to Ladder.

Oh, so FF series has preposterous plot? And I don’t even mention long boring as shit in-game dialogs that take 5 minues *when I mash the skip button*!!!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kevin-Travis/100001864476153 Kevin Travis

He isn’t made out of bees, he controls bees. GET IT RIGHT, GAWD. But seriously, Metal Gear’s story might be stupid but it’s nowhere near as stupid as the current FF games’ stories.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Alexei-Averchenko/1115057555 Alexei Averchenko

        That’s not a big achievement.

They should have made a new Metal Gear for the 3DS and used it to either tell us a new story, or fill in the details on the overall Metal Gear story. I did not finish Guns of The Patriots, so forgive me if Hideo Kojima explained and wrapped up everything perfectly and I just don’t know about it.
Metal Gear has a good story, but it is poorly told.  Snake Eater did a better job telling its story than any other Metal Gear game, but it has already told its story.  They should have made a new story and told it the way they told Snake Eater.

I loved MGS3. It made me forget about all the terrible things in MGS2.

Silent Hill Downpour looks promising… Silent Hill 5 was very disappointing so I’d rather watch Jacobs Ladder over playing SH5… To be fair there are a TON of movies, music videos and games that rip off Jacobs Ladder anyway… (Watch Linkin Park’s Papercut music video, the rapid shakes are blatantly used).

The last SH title I played was Shattered Memories and it annoyed the hell out of me! The chasing sequences pretty much put you through escaping a gang rape.

There is a lot to work with in Downpour. I have a good feeling about this one. I’ve very curious to see where they go with all that rain… It always seems like each story changes itself to match the inner demons that each character brings with them into the town… The last one I really enjoyed was 2 and 4 (and 4 wasn’t even meant to be a SH title!)

What??? No SUIKODEN 6!!! WTF??? :-D

No point buying the 3DS gimmick snake eater, get the HD collection that has 2/3 and peace walker on for ps3 or xbox360.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kenneth-Eaton/100000592144443 Kenneth Eaton

at least there is noticable change in the gameplay/mechanics & difference in the graphics… UNLIKE THE HD COLLECTION THAT IS PURE FUCKING MILKAGE! Pretty much ALL HD Remasters are BS… ESP when you factor in yanked Backwards compatibility to games that these “remasters” make you repurchase…

I own a copy of the original MGS3 for the PS2, but the 3DS version has tempted me to buy another copy, just to see how drastically different the two are.

I also noticed you didn’t go over Never Dead. For a 3rd person shooter, it looks pretty intriguing and I might check it out later on. Also, the fact that you didn’t go over Otomedius doesn’t really surprise me, as it’s pretty much a niche game for those who either like the Gradius games, anime girls, or both. I think the same applies for Skull girls too, which Konami was also showing off.

DUDE!!! YOU HAVE TO PLAY PEACE WALKER.

Seriously. It is the best Metal Gear game OF THE ENTIRE SERIES. Bar none. Full stop. Final Destination. The. Best. Game.

If you haven’t played it well… you’re missing out.
