Probably because it’s better cast. If there’s one thing I hate about the TGWTG anniversaries, it’s the casting style.

All Rob and Doug do every year for casting is to round up as many TGWTG actors as possible, and have them form a group to fulfill some task, while everyone acts as their internet personas. It’s just so incohesive and slapshot.

With this movie, we’ll have characters created in a way that enhances and progresses the plot, instead of a plot that conforms to a poorly constructed cast of characters.

  Yeah, they make those anniversary specials in like two days of shooting which isn’t very much considering how long they are and thus they are rushed. Though, from what I’ve seen from behind the scenes stuff, Doug really keeps stuff organized and is able to control the production pretty well. But still, they don’t have time to make it an actual quality movie.

I actually read through the initial argument on Tumblr.
It’s just a rant and not objective in the slightest.
(No sources cited. No examples given. The only “comparison” provided compares TGWTG to “professional critics”, while leaving it in the vaguest terms possible.)

Therefore, using it as the basis for ANYTHING (like a Boycott) is a knee-jerk reaction at best, and pathos-driven idiocy at worst. Reading on…oh. This explains a lot.

  Even before the spoony thing others have been fired which they are open how TGWTG acted bad. That is their opinion but it seems to be recurring. The mentality of the people chosen is the one at question since they are hypocritical. They make inappropriate jokes and former members have made rape jokes toward others that have been actually raped which others have called for boycott of them too, but many seem to find extreme left wing views as proper when towards others. Now would you watch them? If yes then would that make you just as bad?
  That is the type of people TGWTG usualy hires despite some legitimate people that get tainted by the site. Best move was for spoony to leave tgwtg before they drag him down with them. Spoony got a bounce in twitter followers unlike the other people involved in the incident.

Sure Lupa overreacted and phrased her concern poorly. But what got Spoony banned was the overt and spiteful slander he threw at his fellow coworkers. They gave him a four week ban just to calm him down and let things mull over. Spoony however went straight back to antagonizing the other members and was subsequently banned. And despite all this, most of the members (Linkara, AJ, Doug, Benzaie, Lindsay, Todd, etc.) kept trying to show him support even though Spoony was constantly pushing them away. (Not everyone was acting as disgustingly as LordKat.)
    
    Couple his swings of depression with the fact that he’s now officially been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The best we can do is to wish that Spoony continues to gets the help and support he needs from both his former coworkers/continued friends and any actual therapists. All you’re doing is dredging through what should be healing wounds.

    If Spoony really were fired for that joke, he would have called out TGWTG as a bunch of hypocritical pussies. But so far he has only criticized Lupa and some of her fans for their claims of misogyny, making a point to NOT blame TGWTG for any of this. The only way your theory can make sense would be to assume that Spoony is somehow “in on the TGWTG scandal”, and is lying about leaving on his own.

Not saying that it doesn’t suit Spoony but since when has a ponytail been anything but an “I-don’t-give-a-damn” style? Ponytails are just that. You throw on a hair tie and voilà, you’ve got an emergency ‘hairstyle’ when you don’t know what to do with your excess of hair. Personally seeing one on a guy makes me cringe (think 90s yuppies), however, Vincent Vega and Spoony pull it off ok. Having said that, the shorter 2007 butt cut is pretty iconic for him. Oh well, looking forward to seeing you in the movie Spoony!

I think Brad’s low-fi gritty look is really cool. It manages to convey a mood very effectively. In fact the only time I think It didn’t work for him was with Game Boys but I couldn’t ever picture something like Cheap or Midnight Heat being shot any other way.

Jake Norvell… the guy is awesome. Spoony should seriously consider working with him one day. After Spoony himself, Jake is actually my favorite guy to listen to on v-logs about recently-released-on-cinema films.
His raging over Alvin And the Chipmunks 2, his hatred for Adam Sandler, and him being broken by the atrocity known as Smurfs. Brad Jones was right to include Jake in his video listing the Top 11 Worst Films of 2011.
Can’t wait for the Cinema Snob movie. Spoony was one of the Big Three of Channel Awesome next to Doug Walker and Lewis Lovhaug. With him having left the company, I think Brad should be the guy to take his spot.
