Maybe because it’s cheap heavy equipment? I don’t know. It seems to me that heavy machines are preceieved as tough or these awesome thing (I don’t get what’s so cool about them but this seems to be mostly a guy thing so maybe that’s why I don’t).
So, movie like to incert heavy machinary anytime they can but most heavy equipment is expensive so they go for the cheaper stuff, like a forkift.
