I sat down with Ed Glaser of Dark Maze Studios and talked with him about his DVD release of Rampage (also known as Turkish Rambo) as well as his feature-length film Press Start.
Everyone in that room is sexy.
First comment. Very intressting, you should review forien movies. I loved your alone in the dark movie but it was so dam long. Uwe boll u suck. Spoony #1 for life.
Could this be the beginning of Talk Show Spoony? I, for one, hope so.
Nice setting! :D
Lol at John.
That whole Turkish cheese games sounds pretty good.
I think the movie you were trying to recall was called Alien Trespass.
This was very interesting interview. Thanks Spoony for posting it.
Please Spoony, review Rampage. It has the potential of Yor which is one of my favorite reviews.
I loe this interview
Ed glaser was the fucking man…great great guy, go buy his DVD !
Aaaaaaaaand ordered. Looking forward to watchin Press Start. Ya know, as soon as it ships here …..
I really enjoyed that. Noah interviews very well, and as a fan of foreign films (good and bad) I found this to be very insightful. It was a treat to see people discussing a genre of entertainment that I also enjoy. I think the trip to Chicago was a great thing for everyone involved, not only was “the final battle” hilarious, but the exchange of ideas seems to have livened up everyone. Keep up the great work Spoony.
lol @ another “Benzaie in America” moment.
What was the name of the euhorror-exploitation reviewer guy?
It’s hard to hear out.
Rampage is very funny :) I really like these kinds of movies. And yes I agree they have a sense of authenticity about them even though production values are crap. Funny you should say that movies that intentionally try to be camp usually aren’t that good. I’ve been saying that for years but still everyone seems to love those movies. (some admittedly are good yes but most fall flat)
Anyway I’m really curious what Ed has in store for us. I’m kinda hoping that he’ll release International Guerillas. That has flying laser shooting Quran’s out to kill Salman Rushdie(who’s portrayed as this uber evil James Bond villain. there’s footage of that on Youtube for those interested) :D
I would love to own that on DVD.
You three work so well together.
that guy’s youtube-channel is called ” thecinemaslob “
Something poped up in my mind when you talked about the cameo/joke (the It’s dangerous to go alone, take this with you part) in the Press Start section. It actually reminded me of you too xD In Disgaea 3 there’s a weapon ( a gun) called Dirty H44 and I was like, oh no, they didn’t… and the description said : Go ahead, make my day. I laughed so hard at that, my friend didn’t understood it, but there’s a lot of jokes like this in that series.
Also, I need to get ahold of the press start movie >< and Rampage too, that’s sound interesting.
Oh man, Press Start sounds awesome, I need to buy it.
Also you’re right about those damn tutorial carachter (do anybody even listen to them), hell some you can’t even skip they’re ****ing long (and useless) dialog. Screw, I know how to open a frigging door. And I also know that I have to go to the something castle, I want to know something usefull, like where is the damn switch to open said door, that way I wouldn’t need to lose an hour drawing a friggin’ map of the place.
Sounds cool and yeah the voice in your head in Dark Messiah was effin annoying. Way over the top in terms of trying to be sexy and seductive. It just came off as creepy.
Anybody know where I can get a copy of Press Start in Great Britain? Seems like an epic movie but my parents aren’t big on importing.
Nice River City Rampage shirt!
Ed Glaser has quite a respectable beard.
Oh neat. You’re wearing a Kunio shirt! I love the Nekketsu games!
I have to say I really appreciate these Vlogs. You were probably really busy when you were down there and just the fact that you did these for us shows how devoted you are to all of this.
3 Dev Adam, El Santo & Captain America vs Spiderman!!! I saw it and I loved! It’s so freakin’ bizarre and bad that it’s good!
Another good/bad super hero exploitation turkish flick is Kilink (Killing)
Turns out it was a good thing that you lost the audio on the other review. You might not have done this interview if you had the other review up.
I love those types of films like sergar, at least they tried that’s what I say.
cinema snob’s having a pierre kirby week next week if you’re interested.
I… I just can’t believe how bad the Rocket Launcher effect is in Rampage.
A movie me and my friends made in grade 8 was more convincing. (We shot fireworks out of a decked-out tube. At least there was smoke.)
Well Americans make bad rip-offs of Japanese horror movies, so I guess it all works out. It’s like some terrible food-chain of plagiarism!
Yeah, and they have plenty of money!
This was a good idea, probably the first good thing to come out of this event so far. Hopefully we’ll get to see that movie reviewed in the future.
Cool interview, but I didn’t care much for the movie myself.
Any estimation on when Swat 10 will be out? =)
They use a lot of Road Warrior music in Turkish Rambo…
And where does Rampage Guy get his RPG rockets…??? It’s not as if he’s carrying a rocket bag…
On the part of Cortana thing you should check out Strife Spoony (as far as I can tell it’s abandon ware).
Great interview spoony. Ed seems like a really great guy and I really want to get both Press Start and Rampage now.
Great interview, and the comedy in the background was a nice touch.
I love your use of foreign labor. :D
Definitely picking up both Rampage and Press Start this summer once I get a job =P
Hey Spoony, great interview! I’m definitely gonna grab a copy of Press Start and my morbid curiosity will probably cause me to get a copy of Rampage too.
Question: You mentioned doing rifftrax in your video. Do you have any rifftrax available to watch? I loved your Phantasmagoria 2 playthrough, which was essentially a rifftrax. I would love to see more, you are freaking hilarious!
This interview inflated my interest in both Turkish Rambo and Press Start. I will be buying a copy of both. Also, I feel the need to track down some of these bad foreign knock offs. Thank you for this interview.
Principal in Breakfast Club = Paul Gleason
For some reason, I cannot watch this video cause it takes waaaaaay too long to load. I also tried blip.tv but there was no luck there. I am sure that it is a blip problem. Anyways I’d love to see the Turkish Rambo, since the Turks are our neighbors ( I am Greek).I am sure that lots of the cultural jokes will be as enjoyable to us as to them.
not a fan of the recent vids about chicago but thanks.
i will be eagerly awaiting for your video game reviews. i like the lengthy ones the most.
Great review and there is a cortana in halo wars, her name is Serina an to be perfetly honest she is a total b***h
I can’t say Turkish Rambo interests me that much (the original didn’t either), but that Press Start movie looks pretty fun, judging by the trailer.
I’ll have to check it out.
Yeah…should stay out of my room spoony, geez.
Benzai is distracting me!
I wound up having to watch it again, because i just sat and stared at the little frenchie.
Good stuff spoony!
I noticed your comment about the female voice inside your head, good observation, that has been coming up in a lot of recent games and such. The idea though is actually quite old, and i think most modern conceptions get their idea from Jane in Ender’s Game. If you’ve never read it you should go check it out, it’s one of my favorite sci fi novels ever.
Losing track of what your talking about- It leads to sexy women talking in your head.
Wait what was I talking about?
I just noticed that on the cover of rampage the cuts on the guy’s right arm makes the pi symbol.
It’s nice to see that The Spoony One has good interviewing skills; that was really both informative _and_ entertaining, quite a rare combination. Keep up the good work!
i’m really interested in getting the Press Start movie (not too sure about Rampage) especially since it’s 12 bucks for it and if its as funny as the animated shorts on ThatGuyWithTheGlasses then it’ll be well worth it.
HOLY SHI… my mind almost flipped when Spoony did the Navi voice. (the fairy from Zelda) OMG that was punch-worthy exactly like her!
I just saw a Bollywood action video where a man DRIFTS A HORSE UNDER A TRAIN!!! Like a motorcycle!
I discovered Ed Glaser thanks to Spoony.
