Luke was in the space between spaces!

Great episode again, and as I said before you guys should pitch this to a hollywood studio so it can blow every other piece of shit (transformers mainly) out of the water as a summer blockbuster!

Sorry Nostalgia critic but I gotta say liking group 2/B better!

Yeah… group two has Noah, Brad, Todd, and Justin….and the more amusing events (Film Brainwashing, playground fight scene, LARP rant).

Group one did suffer the burden of extra exposition, though, to be fair. And I gotta stand up for local boy Linkara!

haha , ok sooo only the pure of HEART can get the gauntlet ……… i wonder who is gonna turn up and save the day at the end ! MATIIIII haha

  • http://twitter.com/MajorKerina Sarah Jody

Omg! So much plot! And it actually works.

I’m betting Ma’ti’s “heart” will save the day.

Btw…was Spoony even in this one? I think I saw his beard a little but otherwise it seemed Spoony-lite.

“Btw…was Spoony even in this one? I think I saw his beard a little but otherwise it seemed Spoony-lite.”

Think of it this way: you get the same Spoony, but with only half the calories! ;)

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sean-Lincoln/503842752 Sean Lincoln

He played too characters in the last one. They’re trying not to have Spoony Fatigue set in.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AL6ADN5J3UXVHHOSRGNDM7XBCI realslimshadowen

I like how Cloak-FilmBrain’s hood is on inside out in some shots. It just makes sense.

    And yay suede!

  • Anonymous

Gosh, I wonder if Ma-Ti will be that pure of heart guy that we’ll need later.

    Nah, that’s just silly.

    That could never happen.

    • Anonymous

Either that or he rips out Mallacite’s heart and waves it around, “Heart, HEART!”

    • http://twitter.com/RocMegamanX RocMegamanX

Well, I can pretty much see Ma-Ti being the “Chekhov’s Gun” of this mini-series.

OK, First of all, I want to say that I have been enjoying
virtually all of Suburban Knights so far. It’s been amusing, a bit dramatic and
while there are a few missteps but it has been incredibly good fun so far.

That said there has been something that was quite off about
the special and like 3/4 of the people watching this I too am finding the group
being led by Spoony to be more entertaining. After watching all the parts again
a few hours ago I think I’ve figured out what has been bothering me. And this
part, which focused on the Nostalgia Critic’s group more and had a more serious
    tone, has solidified that thought.

I’ll try and be as constructive as I can and try not to
troll but it may be difficult when my issues and criticisms are directed mainly
to one person in particular. But if my comments are considered offensive feel
free to comment or even request this post to be removed.

My issue with Suburban Knights has been that The Nostalgia
Chick is just sapping the energy from the NC’s group, actually the entire
special in general I think. Throughout this whole thing about 95% of the time
she has looked so bored and uninterested. There may or may not be a good reason
for it but regardless it’s affecting the ability for me to enjoy this as much.
As is often the case with many things, if you can’t hide the fact that you
don’t care about what you are making then the audience won’t.

I’m not sure if she was written to be completely blasé
(which has backfired immensely) or if Lindsey just doesn’t care (I’d be sorry
if it was true) but she is just draining enthusiasm and entertainment value
    from this.

That’s why Spoony’s group has been much more enjoyable to
watch so far. You can just tell that they are ALL having an absolute blast,
including the cloaks, the mom and the girl who kind of looked like a relative
of Paw. Even Orlando seems like he is really getting into this and as a result
he is interesting to watch. Honestly I kept thinking that the Nostalgia Critic’s
branch was really lagging in the humour and action part but that’s not true. It
definitely hasn’t been as funny or eventful as the other team but it’s actually
not that far off, Linkara has been great, the Critic not as much but he has had
his moments, 8 Bit Mickey and Handsome Tom have a bit more of the spotlight
this time and Obscurus Lupa has shined (which I wasn’t expecting) but the
Nostalgia Chick has been so flat and dull it has prevented the good parts from
the team around her from registering properly first time around.

i don’t know, maybe because it seemed Lindsey did the same thing in Kickassia. maybe this is her and the only way she knows how to act. Not everyone is a fantastic actor. Or maybe this is her Arwen. Who knows though i seriously doubt she doesn’t care about the movie or the site.

maybe all she needs is a good acting coach.

    • Anonymous

I kinda have to agree. Nostalgia Chick seems to have a
talent for sucking out the energy.
Even in her own later videos she has less energy htan in her earlier ones.

Additionally Phelous is miscast or his shtick doesn’t fit his style – which drags
down the dynamic of the first group.

    • http://twitter.com/Phoenixcao Phoenix

Chick + Phealous do disturb the atmosphere and dynamic. Maybe it is just the “Arwen” character that she looks so…sad(?) and Phealous has just the same line over and over again. As they said “SHUT UP!”

    • Anonymous

Well it’s no surprise that Spoony’s group is more entertaining. I mean, it has Spoony, Paw, Joe, the Film Brain and Luke rivalry, the Goblin King, Todd and…oh to hell with it, everyone else! It has the more funny characters which makes it more enjoyable. I just wish they had more screen time this episode. Sad sad.

    exposition… FINALLY!!!

  • http://twitter.com/Tom_Broere Tom Broere

LOL, look at the scene where Marzgurl is holding Filmbrain against the tree. She’s really cracking up in that scene. It starts when she tells Filmbrain to stop resisting.

    • Renaissance_nerd

yea you can tell she enjoyed that scene

    • http://UnholyFireDragon.com Unholy Fire Dragon

“Stop resisting and look into my ball…” LOL

  • Renaissance_nerd

One group had to further the story, that was just a necessary evil. So NC’s team got the exposition and Spoony’s team got the humor. Sucks but it happens that way.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=599968637 Toby Alexander Mobias

I FUCKING KNEW SUEDE WOULD BE BACK IN THIS.

Seeing him and Doug share a manly hug of manly manliness (though one IS in a skirt) was a cool thing to see, especially considering all the rumours that Mike Ellis tried to ‘erase’ Suede from the site’s collective memory and that his split was an ugly one.

Rob is spot on, as usual, in the roll of Jaffers, and I’m actually quite shocked that Orlando isn’t a professional actor. He’s quite good, and leagues above some of the stars (Lindsay and Phelous come to mind).

Really looking forward to the final two chapters.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kim-Smith/100000682553835 Kim Smith

Orlando is sooooo good in this!

  • Anonymous

Props to JewWario: he literally only needs to stand there and look david bowie-ish and he’s stealing the show. He didn’t get much in this part but in general he’s one of the best in the series.

Was everyone free to choose their own character? Cuz choosing the Goblin King = genius.

    • Anonymous

      JewWario.

      Mo’ like…

      JewWariBRO.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Seth-Williams/15618827 Seth Williams

A little TOO to be continued…

  • Chammy

Suede? Holy Hannah! I didn’t think we’d ever see him again! That was a beautiful surprise :) Really hope he’s been doing all right with his life. Last I heard, he was doing missionary work of some kind, but the internet is always rife with rumors.

I kind of agree with an earlier comment about the Nostalgia Chick being a bit of a drag, but I also think she does that on purpose.  She’s supposed to play the straight character to everybody else’s zaniness. Personally, I think she’s hilarious when she does her faux Arwen ‘enchantment’, especially in the second part. But, yeah, she probably is the one that feels the least engaging as a character.

Also, did anyone else get a Shaggy vibe from Rob’s character in this one?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ICDHG7TLTN6JVK6JMK3TKQFXKQ Mike Wallace

I got a “Brent Spiner as that scientist from Independence Day” vibe…

  • Anonymous

That guy has worse aim than henchmen in James Bond movies. They were all standing there bunched together at point-blank range.

  • http://UnholyFireDragon.com Unholy Fire Dragon

This part was good… a little TOO good…

  • http://twitter.com/Lairdom Mark Lair

omg, when the guy was revealed to be the suede, my mind just blew up. I had no idea he would ever return. That was the best reveal ever and I just yellew OMG to my screen. That is epic.

    Otherwise, pretty bland episode.

  • Anonymous

Wait, what? Jaffers was trapped in the book for 30 years?! Where did the NC get a VHS tape of a 30 year old news broadcast? Did it come with the map? Go back to part 1 and watch that tape again! The room hasn’t changed at all since 1981! Hell, you can still see the HDTV and that modern laptop on the wall! The news guy ends off the the tape saying the president had been shot. True! President Reagan was shot in an assassination attempt in March of 1981. Buuuuut, Mazes and Monsters was released in -September-, 1981.

Look, I don’t want to be the douchey guy who points shit like this out! But why bother even saying it’s been thirty years? If you had said, I dunno, last year, it would’ve made more sense, and you wouldn’t have to change anything! ..except a line that the internet has pornograpghy…

…couldn’t have even made the Malachite picture a polaroid or -something-?

    • Joosep Nigul

      Shut the fuck up…

    • Anonymous

Well, they don’t make polaroid film anymore so…

      • Anonymous

I’m not saying they shoulda tracked down a rare film just to make this one shot look more “authentic”. It’s pretty easy to fake a polariod. Take that same picture of Malachite, crop it into a square, and put it on a rectangular white background with a bit more space at the bottom. Done in seconds.

Also, why couldn’t he be rounding it up to 30 years?

      • Anonymous

L… Linkara? Really? ….wow. Um, Hi! I’m a fan, actually! Huh… this is pretty cool!

That said, -rounding up-?! Rounding up from -what-?! Last week?! Unless Jaffers is lying and the tape was fake… having blanks in that gun would explain how he missed…

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sean-Lincoln/503842752 Sean Lincoln

Just repeat to yourself “it’s just a show, I should really just relax”.

    • http://www.saisasylum.com/ Sai

Because the late 70′s and early 80′s were when you had all the D&D Satanism scares going on. You could also argue that there’s no way the Power Glove would be in existence before the NES was even made… but who cares. It’s funny.

      • Anonymous

If you think that’s bad, I saw the reflection of the cameraman in the window at 8:55.

  • Anonymous

How could somebody from 1981 know about Tobin’s Spirit Guide when Ghostbusters came out in *THUD* OW!….. Shutting up now.

  • Ralf van Goch

bloody hell way too less team 2

  • Anonymous

I don’t particularly like that Rob and Doug took most of the screentime this part. The reason for a meet-up is to feature all the people, so I think Doug needs to downplay more of himself in order to make sure all the viewers are pleased with it.

I love how the antigonists are such hypocrits. Using guns, TVs, cars and whatnot. Makes Malokite’s quest seem a lot funnier.

Yes, Film Brain is among the phenomenally weak-minded and he’s gotten heaps better since I last watched him. Very good show on his part.

    SUEDE????????????!?!?!?!?!?1?!/11?1/1/

The ending of this part was really awsome

  • Anonymous

That shot at the end was very well done. Best installment yet.

  • http://www.facebook.com/thormichel Thor-Michel Dymond

With this installment you have officially topped Kickassia. I love how juvenile the characters can be yet follow some clever writing. Suede’s “Oh you’ve defeated me” was absolutely brilliant!

  • Anonymous

Suede! OMG did not expect him! YAAAAY! I missed him! :D

  • Anonymous

I can’t believe I waited so long to watch Suburban Knights!  I was almost crying tears of joy when I saw Suede!

  • http://twitter.com/Jesseraygarza Jesse Garza

Charming, witty, dedicated, funny, and sexy… What more could you want out of a movie. Sure NC breaks character way more than he should but he always bounces back into it so its forgivable… Wasn’t sure about this, but now im convinced you guys can actually make a real movie if you really really wanted to…

  • IHeart28

Personally Kickassia had a lot more character development but Suburban Knights make the characters still extremely loveable and interesting. Critic I can’t not love and enjoy because he is a growing leader which means although he’s still the whiny brat he always was he’s being more adventurious and brave throughout the whole thing. This part was fun!
