Agh, I knew she’d try that Arwen crap! At least she didn’t stare at the camera crying the whole time. Liv Tyler doesn’t have much else to offer.

    • http://twitter.com/Linkara19 Lewis Lovhaug

April in Chicago was still recovering from winter, unfortunately.  In fact, a lot of stuff had to be worked around because of heavy rainfall and it was cold for those of us who weren’t wearing many clothes (I was nice and toasty in my outfit, with clothes underneath the knight armor, though my fingers and face got cold in the early morning).  The worst hit were Doug and Benzaie, and Lupa had planned for the cold and brought a leather jacket with her.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ICDHG7TLTN6JVK6JMK3TKQFXKQ Mike Wallace

Too bad the anniversary isn’t in September. Still, for the season, you guys toughened it out and I respect that. I can’t even tell how cold you guys probably were through it all.

Maybe that’s why Doug’s legs were hairless.

If you want to know how cold it is(and don’t mind a little mental scarring), you can always look at Benzai.
I’ll let you figure that on out, while removing the image from my eyes with bleach and a cheesegrater…

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ICDHG7TLTN6JVK6JMK3TKQFXKQ Mike Wallace

You’re not exactly tempting me to look, you know. *Snerk*

It seems like filming with you guys is either too hot (kickassia) or too cold. Why not shoot in Belgium, where the weather is always mellow :b Love the new anniversary special btw, congratz

That prompts me to ask: Is there any chance of you guys visiting our humble country sometime in the future?

Tell ‘em about the waffles! that might tempt them :D

Well, there is FACTS there in August… no better excuse than a sci-fi / anime convention, amirite?

Still, good luck getting those people to fly to what is pretty much the other side of the world for them.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Thomas-Nelissen/1264103592 Thomas Nelissen

Yeah great idea, they should come to the FACTS convention.
Btw I believe Doug already visited Europe, Austria to be correct. But I understand the costs :s

Me and my brother are laughing so much while watching this, my personal highlights so far includes Phelous acting like an insane horror movie killer, Spoondalf, Marzgurl’s japanese (with very good pronunciation, with my very limited japanese I could understand almost everything she said without reading the subtitles), Film Brains VERY scary smile, Paw’s Jeremy Irons impression and a few other things.

On a completely unrelated note, have you seen the new X-men anime Linkara?
I watched it out of curiosity and found it to be suprisingly good, I would very much like to hear your opinion of it.

It’s 12 episodes long and it is made by Madhouse.

Nice, just got done with part 1 and you guys just put up part 2. Sometimes it pays off being a drunk night owl.

Spoony is definitely the highlight of this episode! One question, if Spoony makes a great Gandalf, would he or anybody else can do an excellent Saruman?

  • Anonymous

Pink ring!, im guessing if spoony ever goes through with a video or something with all the rings, we all know who will be the pink ring. The warrior is red ring, black ring spoony, anyone know if there are other ones i missed? also.. “Two Magic! Two Magic!” lmfao! that was amazing

The funniest scene by far was Spoony trying to explain the rules to the cloaks. But yes I must ask.. what was with the Critic fighting a muppet and Spoony’s team fighting magic users and such?

film brain seems to get weirder the more I see him.

  • http://twitter.com/MajorKerina Sarah Jody

Flutey! I like the scenery in the opening.

Okay, it’s official. Phelous is freakin’ me out.

“I’m gonna go back to being all enchanted and shit.” Awesome.

Woo! Lewis brings even more of the awesome Richard Harris-ishness and sexy singing!

    Benzaie nipples are hypnotic…

    OMG!…*falls over laughing*…awesomely-campy puppet….named “Cat”.

Film Brain sure walked into that one…

That was epic ^^. Loved Spoony’s big moment where he still thought it was just role playing.

    Very fun.

Spoony, very disappointed. World of Darkness is an incredibly refined LARPing system.

Excellent again. I laughed so hard at Noah running away screaming “this foe is beyond any of you!” It was a buried joke but the funniest one.

Some serious shit’s going down now.

Hmm, can’t believe I’m saying that about a video that has Handsome Tom as Willow.

  • http://twitter.com/gelidalex Alex Matthews

I am astounded with how many LotR quotes you managed to completely mangle, Spoony.

This felt really short, not that many funny lines. ObscurusLupa is currently my favourite and she brings the most laughs, what with the rapid shifts between in and out of character.

  • http://UnholyFireDragon.com Unholy Fire Dragon

I know nothing of Dungeons and Dragons. Can someone please explain to me what the birdseed and the “too magic” thing what a reference to?

    • http://twitter.com/nnecron Necro

It doesn’t matter does it? It is funny without the knowledge since Spoony confidently thought the D&D rule would work in real life and then he pusses out while dropping his hat (again!).

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Paul-Karoubas/100002406798073 Paul Karoubas

It’s not D&D. LARP tends towards simpler systems, more practical and running quicker

At a guess, I’d say it was number and type of damage. Magic users in some LARP games throw stuff (like birdseed) and yell out what their spell does.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001212048541 Gavin Danger Paton

OK best new joke LiNC ( Doug ) “well excuse me princess”
best running Gag Spoondalf ( Spoony ) dropping his hat
best in Character Actor Snow white ( Obscurus Lupa ) for fainting cant wait for part 3

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Long-Tran/100000925302357 Long Tran

I’m glad to see Spoony again in a major role. He is by far one of the best actors of the crew and also established some funny (yet overused) characters in his previous reviews. But overall there are still many lame looney-tunish jokes which are just painful, but it’s much more enjoyable than Kickassia.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cado-Folust/100001915342551 Cado Folust

Eh, so far I’m actually preferring Kickassia, though it may be because it felt more cohesive at the start and it lacked forced costume gags.

I know it’s hard to top, but comparing “you’ve won a new car” and “it’s time”… There’s no contest. Having the Nostalgia Critic call everybody up only for it to turn into a clusterfuck of a teleconference was not only clever, it was well executed. This felt like he was phoning it in.

Yes, yes, I know-that was the first video. That’s how these things tend to work for me. Each part flows into the next and if it’s not on a solid foundation it’s going to effect my perception of everything else. So far this isn’t feeling very natural to me, though a few gags (“I’ll eat your penis!”) have gotten a chuckle out of me.

FilmBrain-I gotta say he’s one of those guys that really grates on me when taken on his own but he works well in a group. I was surprised how much he entertained me in Kickassia and I’m equally suprised that he’s probably my favorite in this so far. (Though I’ve gotta give Spoony props for his Gandalf.)

Marzgurl is also surprising me, probably because this is the first time I’ve really seen her commit to a role. She makes a damn fine japanese speaking huntress if I may say so. Again, I don’t like her so much on her own but she seems to work really well in a group.

This looks like it could develop into something interesting so may as well keep on.

  • http://www.facebook.com/MatzeDiesdas Matze Statze

Haha, couldn’t stop laughing about the larp parody ” 2 magic”. beside that spoony is by far the funniest character of all.

  • Anonymous

    Spoony, Spoony, Spoony.

“2 Magic”? Really? You’re going with a NERO/SOLAR-style of magic casting? For SHAME!

You should have been calling “4 Magic”. Seriously, how did you spend your skill points? Hell, didn’t you pick up any melee skill as well? You should have had at least 1 “Slay” on your staff skill. That would have taken one down easily, especially after you damaged his magical shield of slay protection with your magic.

  • Anonymous

Oh my, this is actually getting better and better. The dialogue is witty, the acting is decent (NC’s “excuse me, princess” was superbly enunciated!) and the picture looks much, much better then what the trailer showed. I just hope the main storyline won’t prove to be the turning point.

I’m almost mad at Doug-Link for stopping Linkara-Knight’s singing; it sounded like it would’ve been good!

Thus far, nothing too special, but I have a feeling things are starting to warm up…

  • Anonymous

Ahhh…. Into the Woods. I’ve good memories of doing that play. I twas the Wolf.

Loving the choreography now that the action is starting to get off the ground. It’s improved a lot since the Brawl, yet still keeps that cartoony flavor that I think is needed.

8-bit Mickey stole the show on the Critic side, merely from his acknowledgment jokes.

I was very iffy about Film Brain in Kickassia, but I am LOVING him here. It’s no longer simply energy about him, but a cynical nature which really brings it to the forefront. That and his constant failures to understand really make him someone to watch carefully. It’s like character development.

There’s something really weird about Brad and his Harrison Ford impression that’s really offsetting… In a good way, though.

Of course Spoony was the man to watch on the other side for his great rendition of fourth wall breaking. Although Joe was great as well, with as few lines he got.

  • Jorge Guerreiro

Apart from Luppa and 8-Bit Mikey, the NC team is kind of boring… I mean, the “Cat scene” was nothing special and is ways from reaching the lulz factor of kickassia. The jokes are too simple. I mean, hot girls jokes? How low can the jokes get?

Spoony’s team is better than NC’s. Film Breain and Paw have very funny lines and Spoony steals the show. Brad… well, is Brad, and that’s good. His normal self is way funnier than half of TGWTG team combined (no disrespect, but it’s a fact, the man has a gift for irony and sarcasm. Hell, he doesn’t even need to open his mouth for us to laugh). Joe and Marzgurl are also funny.

But overall, everyone is not as funny as they were in Kickassia. Maybe it’s the plot, or the lines, but last year’s special was waaaaaaay better by the end of the 50 minutes.

  • http://womanlymind-tricks.tumblr.com/ Skippy Kay Jay

The “Arwen montage” made me laugh my ass off. Very nice touch, I wasn’t expecting that.

And of course, Spoony with the “2 magic” was probably the highlight of Part 2—for me at least. And The Bowie impression is still magnificent. I can’t wait for Part 3, I really can’t.

NC pulls off Arwen better than Liv Tyler.  I never knew the Bare naked Ladies spoke Elvish in their song.

Spoony’s team had the better laughs this episode, but I appreciate the effort by everyone, and I am enjoying the story very much.

From what I’ve seen so far, it’s -too- meta, and it seems like they’re trying too hard.  While I appreciate the effort, it’s just not funny.

    • http://twitter.com/RocMegamanX RocMegamanX

      What’s wrong with “meta”?

      • Anonymous

Nothing’s wrong with meta.  As long as it’s not entirely overused or too blatant.  For example, the Arwen thing in this video.  It was just… not funny.  And, another example, earlier when the Nostalgia Critic wound up having to break down and say they’re doing something ‘for the trailer,’ the lead up was funny, but, for me, the punchline fell flat.

        • http://twitter.com/RocMegamanX RocMegamanX

How can you even tell if something’s “forced” or “blatant”?

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nathan-Ellis/100002419726549 Nathan Ellis

“how can you tell if something’s forced or blatant?” that’s kind of an oxymoronic thing to say.

          • http://twitter.com/RocMegamanX RocMegamanX

I can’t tell if humor’s supposedly “forced” or anything. If I laugh, I laugh.

Anyone notice linkara has the same sword as the cloaks? aswell as spoony’s pink ring lol

    • http://twitter.com/Linkara19 Lewis Lovhaug

DAMN, I’ve been hoping no one would notice.  XD

It’s really a production thing.  I had intended to use a real sword for mine (the one used in some of my videos), but Doug didn’t want any real swords for fear of potential injuries.  He had a bunch of prop swords available, and unfortunately we only had the large ones the Cloaks had (five of them) or the kind of dinky ones, like the one 8-Bit Mickey is carrying.  It makes more sense for Arthur to be wielding a large sword and Mickey to be carrying a short sword, so unfortunately I have the same sword as the Cloaks.  I tried to hide it as best as I could, buuut it seems you caught it.  XD

      • Anonymous

Aww i thought i had something there lol. I figured NC was doing some sort of Shyamalan “WHAT A TWIST!” moment where Linkara was actually a cloak lol. Cause it seems like the character is up to something for some reason, and it even did a close up on the sword after being knocked out where i was to the point where i was saying “FORESHADOWING!!!”, until i realized i was yelling at a screen…. ya… i need to stop watching these when they release at like 1am… lol.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Spoony’s acting in Kickassia but in this he is doing surprisingly well. I can see a lot of improvement. Brad’s acting is also really good , he seems to be head and shoulders above the others imo.

Brad is by far the best actor of the group. Some are decent in comical roles, but Brand can pull comedy acts, drama acts, action acts, anything really. As far as amateur acting is concerned, he’s quite good indeed.

    2 magic! 2 magic!

my least favorite parts of these is always the nostalgia critic for some reason.  his bum reviews are almost unwatchable.

that’s my subjective opinion. not to say that he’s bad, but being loud doesn’t mean you’re being funny. Which reminds me, why does Jon Stewart still pay Lewis Black to shout at the audience once every 6 months?

LARP bit was wonderful.  I still hope Spoondalf gets his “Run like children!” line from the trailer at some point; I was expecting that to end part 2.

I agree with whoever said Team B feels more entertaining, though the Arwen bit amused me just because that’s one of those few LOTR scenes that was overdone to the point of being silly.

Somehow I feel sad that I may be the only person who got the World of Darkness reference. I feel more sad since I have never done anything like WoD or D&D before in my life.

      You are not alone, friend.

Okay no low audio problems this time :-).

Spoony your scene knocking on WoD was great.

I suspect that this hat drop gimmick is going to keep going. Reminds me of William Powell having to constantly be drinking liquor in The Thin Man.

“Linkarthur” does have a great singing voice. Too bad nobody else wants to hear it. (“Crom laughs at your show tunes.”) His source material is a little uneven, too: Camelot, Into the Woods, and… Grease? Might be appropriate, since he does look more like Olivia Newton-John than Richard Harris. No offense.

Is it just me or is Linkara using the same sword type as the cloaks?

I’ve had unwanted sexual encounters in third world countries more interesting than this.

I am trying to rationalize either Gandalf or Spoony as a Star Sapphire. It’s…not working.

Not even Spooning with Spoony Spoony?

It’s a shame they couldn’t use this music in the link below  for “the cloaks” when the group encounter (and get chased by) them . It would make the threat of dealing with real supernatural magic users more interesting.

Cloak : (in wraith like voice) “Give us the map, Spoony one!”

Spoony (instantly turns into a smoke image that disapates, as the real spoony has fled at the speed of light)

Here….try this… open the above link in another window, and play ‘suburban knights part 2′ and at the point when the spoony says ‘you’ll never play this game again’, pause it, then play the above link’s music, then play the vid as normal…the sinister tune that starts off the song really fits the growling the cloak does and shows just how much peril the group is in.

“Holy Shit” greatest shared line ever!!!!!

  • IHeart28

LOL! Spoony assuming the cloaks as DND players was extremely well done and when he runs away he forgets his hat and goes back to get it, that is priceless.

Loved every minute of this part
