Behind-the-scenes details! Dirt! Learn who’s secretly a communist!
Hooray for commentaries. These are often more fun than tthe actual videos!
Hooray! Something cool to watch before I go to sleep! (time zones ftw!)
Thank you Spoony! But don’t forget to rest, sleep and eat! You’re spoiling us with all this content ;)
Keep giving TF2 hell Spoony! I do! Uwe Boll might as well make TF3. Couldn’t screw it up worse than bay!
Love The Commentary
The kid on the plane who talks to Slater is actually one of my friends, he never likes talking about it. Not surprised.
So now I understand why Doug was impersonating Stephen Hawking. He certainly had a good reason to type for the computer’s speech.
Although I never watch Linkara, two of my favorite reviewers in one video is incredible amounts of win
I always love the commentary man.
Good commentary like always (I think your Vlogs about the Chicago get together were better than TGWTG’s official one).
I like to listen to the commentary on Ray Dennis Steckler movies. He keeps talking about how good the actors and scenes are – and this is the guy who is known for “The Incredibly Strange Creature Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies!?”.
Ah, so that’s why he couldn’t talk. Oh well, I was probably one of the few who was perfectly fine with the computer generated voice. It left the door open for some good jokes.
this was an awesome review and the commentary is equally awesome Spoony. It’s always great to hear a commentary to find out what kinda went into making whatever it is or hear about what it could have been instead and things like that.
DO IT!!! Kick-flip a table in the name of Stephen Dorff’s SCHOOL OF RAGE!
Damn it. I was in Chicago the same time you three were there. Oh well, anyway, always great to see behind the scenes Spoony, and see a P.O.V. from somebody.
I kinda thought you did it in the new location because it’s alot of poeple in the basement watching shitty movies grape job 5 stars
Admittedly the computer voice was slightly annoying but I like the way it was sort of worked into the story at the start there. I hope you guys give House of the Dead or Bloodrayne the MST treatment sometime.
hurray for commentaries :D i’m very sorry for doug about the throat infection, btw the review was damn hilarious and i really enjoyed ^_^
Awesome commentary, Spoony! Keep up the good work!
See No Evil is a WWE-produced horror film starring Glenn “Kane” Jacobs. You’re probably thinking of something else.
Aww damn Spoony, you were in Chicago?! Man, seriously if you ever come back this way drop me an email before hand.
I got to buy you a drink someday, for all this great entertainment you deliver.
Never seen a Boll movie before, though there is a copy of Alone in The Dark I have somewhere around, just something I always try to avoid, but after watching this I have to see how bad this movie really is. I like the random review from all three of you. Also great to take Doug’s voice problem and turning it into something funny.
P.S. Talking as a guy who grew up in Chicago and the Chicagoland area, yes it is bullshit that they change the name of the Sears Towers to Willis.SEARS TOWER FOREVER! Anyway, Thumbs Up!
yea, see no evil isn’t what you’re thinking of, i think that was hide and seek?
thanks for the commentary i love learning the inside dirt
When I worked at Hollywood Video, I never put down my DVDs and walked out the door.
…Except when my supervisor for the closing shift said we’d be there too late if I didn’t. So that’s exactly what I did.
I think the “balls” thing would have been funnier. Plus I kinda took offense to the “I like to wear women’s clothing” thing…but it was funny nonetheless.
2,000 words read to you over 75 seconds? Did I hear that right?
Can I ask you something spoony, do you ever see the movie tunnel rat and if yes can you tell me what you think about it. Because you gonna say I am sick in my head but itr is the only uwe boll movie I saw.. and I find it not too bad and it is 1000 time better thant alone in the dark seem to be, not perfect there is some weakness in tunnel rat its a bit too much classic and dont bring enougt to the war genre but style it have it moment it is well direct globaly it dont really have useless cinematic effect wathever I am curious about your opinion
Only watch Uwe Boll movies if you’re with friends. Otherwise it’s just pain.
Uhhh… so who’s the communist?
You seriously need to do reviews of uwe boll’s director’s commentaries, that would be hilarious based on the things you told us about them.
Yeah who’s the commie.
And Dr Insano will never get old… Well except that one time he came back from the future to bestow his wisdom upon you… but other than that he will never get old. He is a great character.
About the cab driver…wasn’t he also one of the stoner kids in Super Troopers, at the beginning of the movie? “Littering and…? Littering and……smoking the reefer!”
Me thinks I need to check it out on IMDB.
I remembered Doug mentioning that he had throat issues last month on TGWTG.com, so I figured that was what was going on with the “Stephen Hawking thing”. Glad you confirmed it. Also, “Balls” would have been funnier than “I like to wear woman’s clothing”. But It was still pretty funny. And it’s pronounced “Newf-undland” even though it’s spelled “Newfoundland”. Trust a Canuck on that. Anyhow, Well done Spoony!
I click on the link to watch the video, and the little comment at the top of the website says, “Due to illness, your entertainment tonight will be provided by… The Spoony Experiment.” Epic win.
Nice Commentary spoony.
well who’s the communist
This is astounding. I know there’ve been a lot of crossovers lately, but I didn’t figure my three favorite reviewers would end up in a review together. I was pretty damn psyched when you showed up for this one, and moreso when Linkara did. I hadn’t been paying attention to comments or anything, so I only found out when it happened in the video. Made it even better in my opinion.
I wish I could know if you people were going to be in Chicago again. I really want to play D&D with you people. See how y’all operate in a gaming atmosphere.
COMMENTARY ON A COMMENTARY ON AN- ARGH MY HEAD
Hey Noah, when did you guys get together to film this? Was it during the One Year anniversary, or more recently?
Well, glasses DO look sexy.
Doug must make a lot of money if he could afford to fly you both in. Especially all the way from Arizona.
I’m curious, what does a script for a review look like? I’m asking… for a friend. A crazy, silly friend who might want to make his own contribution in the field of snark. I mean I think I have the gist of it, and in the end it doesn’t matter I suppose but I was just wondering how you cool kids do it.
There’s no template for it in Movie Magic Screenwriter, it’s all I’m sayin’
Jim, it was last month, he says so.
Great commentary as always. Keep them coming. We love the intimate look behind the scenes. Now I can’t wait for the impending Spoony/Linkara crossover! Btw, you didn’t name names. We must know who to blacklist! lol. Truth be told, I did really want to watch to find out if someone was a commie or not lol. Thanks for yankin my chain.
Yeah, I have Alone in the Dark, Uwe’s commentary is awesome, he thinks his movies are so great.
Love the commentaries. Not to compare you to Uwe Boll, but watching the review and then watching the commentary immediatelly after it is such a great experience, almost like a whole new review. ;D
Also, thank you for toning down the Insano. He’s great when not overdone. The little cameo was perfect. Plus: it gave us the three stooges ending instead which also was a perfect fit for this review.
Thank all three of you (and everyone behind the scenes) for providing us with quality entertainment on a weekly basis and thank you Spoony for sharing your thoughts, they are the frosting of an already delicious cake!
whoa!! that bald headed security dude…check out his shoulders…his shoulder boards dont match…
excellent cross over review…the best i’ve seen since the ultimate warrior review…
I dont know if this was brought up or not, and I may seem very dense and obvious, but was the “I like to wear women’s clothing” an Ed Wood reference?
Oh god. NC losing his voice is so completely tragic, I can’t imagine how much more epic this review would have been if he could talk. However, the way it was turned into a gag worked well for what it was, way to improvise!
Personally I thought you were channeling the Nostalgia Chick with the “honey” line.
Haha, nice commentary Spoony! I actually work at Blockbuster in between school semesters…and yes…I do just drop my DVDs and walk away. Also I love the “Pirate Chad Kroeger” line…sad to say I am a Nickelback fan, I know you hate them, but it’s my own personal musical taste and fuck off to anyone who tries to force me to think otherwise.
I´m going to have to dissagree with you there Spoony, at the end, when they return to the orphanage, they go inside to find the nun dead. I can’t precisely recall what kind of a purpose it has, but they did something with it.
In any case, can we expect a comentary on those games you played with Linkara?
Loved the crossover. Rotten luck really, Doug losing his voice, but you certainly made the best of it
(at first I thought he was just being a little too polite giving you guys the frontline and kinda submerging to the backrow.
One thing I kinda wish you did was that this movie had Terror T.R.A.X written all over it. I though you could’ve made a couple of remarks about that. But its awesome anyway nothing importantwas missed. I just thought it would’ve made a funny contribution
Just wanted to say the song that’s playing in the scene were they shoot the monsters in the dark is called Ghost and is made by Mnemic. And no it’s not a ripoff of Rob Zombie. Just wanted to make sure.
When are you going to make a review with yahtzee? :P
I’d pay a lot of money to see that.
I thought the hatch was at the orphanage because the old guy was experimenting on kids and essentially dragging them down into the caves like freaking Pennywise.
uniform? no, man, just be yourself, as always. part of your appeal is that you’re not interpreting a character like they do. you’re just a guy bitching about what pisses you off in whatever media occupies you at the time. that’s why we like them, but we love you.
The scene when someone is following slater in the alley, the doctor who injects blood in his system and the “shock” ending.. there has to be a connection. A sequel? lol
Yeah I wanted to say about Mnemic… but Thomas was faster.
Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t hear you identify anyone as a communist. Spoony seems like hes on the left, but not thhat left, Critic seems like hes more to the right. Linkara, hmm well I dunno anything about his politics and I’ve watched all his reviews. He is a feminist, I guess if he was a communist it wouldn’t be any weirder.
Interesting pronunciation of Newfoundland there.
Still a great commentary.
Dude dont get a uniform it kind of goes aginst your spoony nature.
The movie with Robert Deniro and Dekota Fanning was Hide and Seek. Other than that, Great review, Spoony!
Hi Spony, I also have a strange fasination for Uva’s movies, I think most people who were/are into MST3K can apresiate stuff like that. Anyway, this was a grate video, I really like these commanterys. I just fine behind the scene stuff cool.
About Dr. Insaino, I think he’s good as a camio but every now and agen I think it would be fun to have him play a bigger role. I have to say it’s a really funny charecter. I wonted to say he was also original but he’s based on the Mad Scientist cleshay. So let’s just say that I don’t know anyone on the net that dose the mad scientist bit quite as well as you.
Spoony cannot pronounce Newfoundland! Did not do the research. D:<
Jokes aside, it's always fun to listen to your commentary, Spoony.
Yeah, the movie you were thinking of is Hide and Seek.
I looove this video. Do more Uwe Boll movies, I want to see you do “House of the Dead”. I saw that movie in theaters. No one would go with me because they were smarter then I was apparently, but the movie was so bad I actually made friends with the people around me to survive. It just turned into one giant MST3K. Best time I’ve ever had at the movies. You hit the nail on the head for why I love Uwe Boll so much, he is just so delusional. But he really does bring people together like only awesomely bad movies can.
Great commentary Spoony. Are there any more Uwe Boll movies on the horizon? I’d be very interested in hearing your take on Postal or Tunnel Rats. Apparently all the dialogue in that was improvised…
I like this commentary segment you did. It looked like you guys had a lot of fun working together. I have a friend who lives in Chicago and is actually in the comic biz and used to go to school like a few blocks from the SEARS tower (Fuckin Willis) HOW BIZARRE!
Wait, wait, you’re doing a commentary….about a movie commentary that you did?
Chill man, the Microsoft sam voice worked beautifully, in fact it is part of what makes this vid so great.
Had the whole review been in that voice it would have been bad, but when you and Linkara where talking alongside it things just clicked and it went from beeing good to beeing awsome.
And Noah, your uniform is indeed your lack of uniform, you are basically yourself when you do your vids and that is awsome. Partly because it makes you very relatable but also because you are such a funny guy just in yourself that you don’t need to play a role (you got Dr. Insano for that).
Also, being yourself is something really cool to be, especially in these times.
PS. Bureau 713 is THE most tasteless name EVER for a secret bureau in a movie, wanna know why?
well… your uniform is your slacker shirts…
the ellipses was a joke^
Spoony! I’m personally offended that the words “Less Insano” were ever uttered. More Dr. Insano for great justice and SCIENCE >.< !!!!
I liked this video and you did have a really good point, i would like to be absolutely blind sided by insano then expecting him.
I think that the only Uwe Boll that could be considered at least Decent, I always say it’s actually kinda good, is Postal 2, I think that is because the only good thing in Uwe Boll movies is Humor, not that he has good jokes on his films, because there are some really bad ones, but Postal 2 has really good jokes xD I laugh my ass off NOt because the movie is bad, but because it’s actually funny, unlike his other movies.
Didn’t Doug have the same problem during his “The Good Son” review? Maybe he’s not using his voice right, should get a voice coach or something.
Don’t kid yourself, spoony, you never went to Castleton.
I have to ask, Spoony, why the three of you? Not that I have any problem – the three of you are my favs on TGWTG, so I was super-hyped, but it just seems… odd, I guess? Was there any particular reason why you two?
Hope there are more, though!
Great commentary and review but one problem you said Newfoundland wrong(nitpick)
I loved the video, it was hilarious…I think that computer voice is always funny. “Oh Jesus, no…” Haha, that’s my favorite part. But anyway, you guys should work together more often…
Hey! I met some of those natives out here in Newfoundland the other day, they were burying a key in my backyard.
I liked Dorff in Blade too. Blade is da bomb.
If you have a “Crispy” shirt to go along with the Castleton shirt, you officially are a Mistie demi-god.
My favorite scene was when they had the ‘epic’ battle in his house of crates and lamps while MNEMIC’s Ghost plays in the background and you can’t see a damn thing.
I’m actually surprised you guys didn’t touch on Tara Ried saying New Found Land.
“Balls” would’ve been so much better.
Spoony, I’m scared now. I just finished watching postal (cause it’s on netflix)… and it may have made some semblance of sense. Dare I say that I might be deluded enough to think it wasn’t that bad of a movie? Please, I beg of you, stop by a local lumber yard, pickup a two by four and help a friend knock some sense back into themeself?!
Best Wishes, -ObieWan
sometime can u do a video review of House of the Dead
Yeah…the “Willis” Tower is one of those big upsets for Chicagoans. I went there recently with my family from Germany, and they all still call it the Sears Tower. But the walk out boxes are neat! And…terrifying at the same time.
This review was awesome and I do hope to see more soon. Have a good time at that con up in Michigan, wish I could get there. :/
Nah. You don’t need a uniform, you Castleton snob. I do like seeing your MST shirts. I did have to find my own Cherrokee Jack shirt after I saw yours. Maybe get yourself a blue or green jumpsuit? lol
i personally wouldnt mind more or less Insano, but i can see why your being cautious about it.
Great commentary, but the film wasn’t all filmed in Montreal, it actually mostly took place in Halifax, NS, Surrey and Vancouver, BC.
Yeah, no uniform. Your casualness gives you your own class.
@SimonTheGoalie: Really? Sweet! Mah hometown! Viva la Halifax!
And here I thought I was the only person who found Uwe’s commentaries to be HILARIOUS!!
He actually thinks his movies are good/the performances are good and he goes into detail about the story he has for the movie in his head that never shows up on screen.
His films are a great tool in helping people learn what to avoid doing.
Go Spoony keep up the GREAT work.
Noah, you are such a sellout.
People are TIRED of Insano? Fuck them, MORE Insano!
Spoony, why did you mess up the aspect ratio again? And why nobody else seems to be bothered by this flaw? I mean, shouldn’t a movie fan care about a correct aspect ratio of the picture?
I have to be honest with this, I wish you didn’t team up with anyone. You do fine on your own, I find Nostalgia Critic to be one of the most unfunniest “comedians” to grace the internet and I really can’t watch anything with him in it without turning it off after a minute.
Great review and crossover once again. Ever since I saw your written review I was hoping you or someone would do a video review on it. Oh yeah the the Willis Tower is not BS now I can say my name is up in lights. haha Seriously though great vid and can’t wait to see more.
Get sick of Insano!? Madness man! Never will the interwebs be sick of the maddest Mad there is!
As mentioned earlier, the song is “Ghost” by Mnemic, not Rob Zombie.
Also, I think the museum they’re in is the Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver.
Love the commentaries – always interesting when I’m procrastinating
What do you mean you don’t have a uniform? Fantastic hair and a funny shirt is totally a uniform.
Shame about Doug losing his voice, but at least you were able to find a way around it. I’m a big Insano fan and would have liked to see what Doug had in mind, but I understand why you want and had to limit him. Anyway nice insight on the review. I think the commentary is a great idea, and I hope we’ll hear some from the recent crossover with Linkara.
Hey Noah, I don’t know if you will ever read this but I think it’s worth saying. You are way more entertaining and fun to watch then Nostalgia Critic and that other guy that just strings random curse words together about shit and piss to appeal to the minds of young teenage boys.
I don’t know why, you just have a certain comedic talent and personality that sits well with me and I think you deserve way more attention and popularity then you usually get.
Hot here in Chicago? When the hell were you here? Oh, and you’re right about the whole Willis Tower thing, it’s so BS.
i agree in some way with 102, it’s not that you’re better than NC or AVGN, but you do have a really strong input when it comes to… well, reviewing-bitching some bad movie or game, you speak loud and fast, like there’s not enough time in the vid to let you express how sucky it really is for example “I can’t believe how there’s not a single screen of this game which I can’t bitch about” (FFVIII), that’s really funny. So yeah I think the NC should’ve given you more creative freedom when reviewing this piece of shit movie.
What’s great about Noah is his delivery. He NEVER sounds whiny, which is a big problem that the rest of the TGWTG team suffers from (including Doug). It’s actually Doug’s biggest vice; he’ll write well and then have super whiny delivery at times that near kills the jokes.
Noah’s delivery is super fast and filled with energy, and often is quite witty and intelligent. He really is a great comedic presence.
Noah and AVGN are the best by far.
Doug Walker (NC) and James Rowlfe (AVGN) are funny within their niche, but pull them out of it and they just fall flat. More so with James than Doug. I love all of Jame’s videos, where he truly shines are in his Cinnemassice videos where he’s legitimately educational about film. They aren’t funny, but they are awesome. Doug on the otherhand has some of the best comedy writing out there, it’s always spot on. And when he’s hiding behind his characters of The Bum (probably his funniest works), purposefully awkward That Guy With The Glasses and the titular Nostalgia Critic, he’s funny. But as Doug, his performances fall flat, almost as though he doesn’t know what his own stage presence is. Two years in a sketch or improv comedy troupe would fix that.
Noah, however, is just a prodigy. Not everything he does is golden, but he never posts anything that is completely unfunny, or like that one fellow from the roast the Necrocritic, antifunny. It may be that Noah has the presence of mind to recognize what’s not good and avoid posting it, and that alone puts him head and shoulder above most other internet comedians. One person on this site once commented that Noah has a Bill Hicks feel to his comedy. While I agree, my agreement is qualified. Noah has a similar energy as Bill, but he lacks the obvious demons that showed in Bill’s comedy. And in all honestly I pray that Noah never does. He’s hilarious enough as is without needing to talk about drug abuse and alcoholism.
… I don’t really know where I am going with this rant, all I do know is that Noah is my favorite funny person on the internet, and I am not wearing any pants.
I actually thought the computer voice was perfect for this review. I could full well see that somebody lost his voice after seeing this movie. So I actually thought you had planned this and Dougs voice was fine. Kudos too you guys.
to Sag Ichnet: I thought the exact same thing as you did. I was shocked to realize that Doug really lost his voice.(Sorry for the shitty spelling(i think I spelt something wrong).
Only two movies i seen from Owe apart from this one of course are Far cry and Postal.I loved making fun of Far cry. Also Postal was so crazy i liked it especially when the creator of Postal appears and tackles Owe for *ruining* the Postal movie lol :)
I really like crossovers, because, like many other fans I guess, it's good to see some real interactions and even friendship goin' on. It's more fun I think.
I really like crossovers, because, like many other fans I guess, it’s good to see some real interactions and even friendship goin’ on. It’s more fun I think.
I loved this review! I wish you guys would do more of the 3 Schmuckheads. The only person missing is The Cinema Snob and then you would have all of my favorite people from TGWTG.
It’s great to hear more insights into how you three work together.
I’d like to get a glimpse of that script, just to get an idea of the kind of work that goes into writing this stuff. I really wonder how professionally it is done.
Haha, that balls thingie i actually done way to many times , though changing in to 100% Volume startup sound for my friends PCs.
Gotta love the Behind-the-scenes details. It adds so much to how awesome the video is
