Yes I also went back to see her….. shirt…. *shifty eyes*

And as usual, not enough Spoony… tsk tsk…. (lol)

Nice commentary. I can hardly wait for part 2.

  • Princess Stabbity

Oh, commentary. How it makes everything even better.

Can’t wait to see the other parts!  Great job, guys. =]

I thought the part where you loose your head was a reference to the opening of JourneyQuest, A series by the creators of Gamers and Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising,
    it looked almost identical.

    Meh…

    Nice Comments though

Great ensemble for a commentary, but because this was done during skype I assume. Any chance of a version with subtitles? Some people are hard to hear that’s all.

Luke is the son of Colin Mochrie?! o_o

    WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT.

    • Anonymous

From Colin Mochrie’s Wikipedia page: “The two were married in 1989 and had a son, Luke, in 1990.”.My mind is officially blown. This Luke Mochrie is the son of legendary improv comedian Colin Mochrie??????

They weren’t just joking? I think my mind should be added to the ‘blown’ list

It’s totally true. How was this not DIRECTLY brought up sooner? Goddamn.

And I wondered if they were related from the beginning.

awesome! I love Commentaries! I was going to say once in a comment that you could see the camaramn in the Fushigi Ball(however that’s spelt), but figured who’d care! Will you explain that ring? Also, why wasn’t this up at TGWTG.com yet??

  • Anonymous

Decided to watch this again cause i have nothing else to do. Something I heard Lindsay say,

Todd and Lupa romance? What the hell is her idea of a romance because that is anything but a romance. That sub-plot is obsessive stalker territory, not a romance.

      Sounds like twilight

The problem with MarzGurlz’s Japanese isn’t just that it’s mediocre, it’s also that it serves no real purpose. The entire joke for her character seems to be that she’s subtitled, which is something the Nchick’s Arwen had already been doing among a variety of other jokes. There’s no joke here, it just sits there; red meat for any otaku who desperately wants to hear something Japanese-y. I see no connection to Princess Mononoke beyond the costume, and no goofy riff beyond that. She did have a small role though, so perhaps that had something to do with it. Just as well, I suppose.

All in all, a very fun movie. As per the usual, Angry Joe’s shit eating grins steal the show.

As for Japanese, there’s one big problem with how it sounds (which, as I said, applies to most of English-speaking people).^^’

As for movie, great job there.

I noticed the purple stains on the shirt before the cleavage (though not THAT much before). Don’t know if I should be proud of that or not.

Dungeons & Critics really had some implications though, I think if you worked on that connection a bit more, it would’ve made for a better suiting title than Suburban Knights. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just that… I don’t know, either I miss the joke and implications or there’s none, and that’s kind of a problem.

Good to see Linkara taking care of internal consistency, that’s a very, very important point even in comedy and parody spoofs. I wish such awareness was more widely-spread.

It’s been a nice commentary though, it’s good to know the behind the scenes of such large projects.

  • dennett316

Really enjoyable commentary so far guys.  Some of the looks that Film Brain gets on his face at times are quite creepy.
And I totally didn’t notice Lindsay’s cleavage the first time I watched the special…I have no idea why.

On the DVD they should totally put a Lefty and Righty credit after Lindsay’s name.

commentary! I know spoony was just experimenting, but way to many people. Not trying to be a d*ck but at times it sounds like a pen of chickens clucking. Some people who I will not point out didn’t know when to shut it and let the listeners hear someone else s voice. Justin was cool as always though he just sat back and let all the little kiddies squeal and squawk and gleefully giggle over the movie :) But it was nice to get some of the behind the scenes stoires

cluster fuck. too many people. christ.

Ok, I didn’t find this to crowded. Some are on bad lines, but that can’t really be helped unless flying everyone in. I would think some of them also have a sound delay.

I think I simply have heard so many multiple people commentary tracks (Simpsons, Futurama, Evil Dead, Spinal Tap) that it’s easier to follow them all. But it is important to have a moderator with some notes what to speak about, so not everyone throws opinions at the screen when they see something happening. But as I said, this was basically easy to follow.

To be completly honest…I thought Tom was Willow from Buffy, too…I didn’t know about the other movie. Maybe I’m too young (20)…

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jonathan-Belina/100001121511342 Jonathan Belina

Yes you are.  However, I would not recommend watching the movie.  It is George Lucas bad; literally, George Lucas directed it & it is bad.  It is essentially a terrible Hobbit rip-off.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nathan-Ellis/100002419726549 Nathan Ellis

yeah, i would have to pick labyrinth over willow for creepy 80’s fantasy movie to watch again. lucas and chris claremont (basically the heart and soul of the uncanny x-men comics for 20 years) wrote some pretty bad book spin offs for willow.

        • Anonymous

Wait, wait, wait… they wrote spin offs? For WILLOW??? Why? What possible aspect of that plot needed to be extended into a bloody book?

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Adam-Schrader/788849987 Adam Schrader

Nothing. They killed off Madmartigan, Sorsha, most of the supporting cast and then Willow hid under a helmet and changed his name. I vaguely remember something about the prophecy going wrong and Ellora growing up to be worse than Bavmorda.

Clearly a logical progression from the movie?

          • Anonymous

That’s just… I know I shouldn’t expect anything associated with logic from Willow, but that sounds so stupid I’m actually at a loss for words.

Thankyou for telling me so now I can dedicate the rest of my life to avoiding that.

    • Anonymous

Now I just feel old – I mean I’m not that much older than you are and I immediately thought of the movie and didn’t even think of Willow from Buffy at all!

In any case, the joke is that Willow is this absolutely TINY hobbit/dwarf character who has to take care of this baby girl for, uh, magical prophecy’s sake (???) and a lot of weird things happen that don’t make a whole lot of sense. If you like really really cheesy old fantasy movies that make you run crying for your stack of LOTR books, then you’ll like this. Otherwise you’ll do what I did as a kid: start reading Anne Rice. And no, I’m not kidding… I got banned twice from the adult section of my school’s library when I was 10.

… wait, the thinking of bad-fantasy Willow instead of Buffy Willow may have less to do with my age and more to do with the fact that I was a really strange kid. I also blame my local video store for my corruption.

I’m one of the people that complained about Marz’s Japanese, and the reason is that it’s just straightforward – and wrong – enough to be irritating.  If it were meant to be a comedic gag and she were just saying things like “I have a pineapple on my head!” paired with the current subtitles, it would’ve been one thing, like Lindsay’s nonsense; actually trying (and failing) to say what the subtitles meant just made it not work for me.  And as someone else said below, it didn’t serve a POINT – it wasn’t a funny gag for the people that actually *can* speak Japanese and it obviously wasn’t understood by people that don’t.   It was just like saying “MarzGurl likes anime and anime is Japanese so she’s gonna speak Japanese!!!!”   And if you WERE going to do that, what, it was so difficult to get a reference on correct Japanese?

    • http://twitter.com/Shantalfigueroa Shantal Figueroa

Oh please. I hate it when people get defensive about foreign languages. I speak Spanish but I don’t go around expecting everyone to speak perfect Spanish. Give people a break.

Malachite reminds me of Michael Jackson in The Matrix.

People are complaining about Marzgirl’s Japanese? What the heck? I thought she did a fabulous job, and it was even recognizable. I understood some of the words, even. (Not her fault. I don’t really speak Japanese. I just hear it a lot). That is completely bogus that people are putting her down on that. :(

For the recored I have scene Willow and I still thought that Tom was Willow from Buffy :) just glad I wasn’t the only one!!!

People were giving shit over MarzGirl’s Japanese? I for one thought MarzGirl’s Japanese was fine. As some one who had been studying Japanese for three years now, 7 months of that spent IN Japan, I thought it was fine. Sure there are a few hang ups about it, the particle Yo isn’t used that much in everyday speech. But then again this isn’t everyday speech. It’s a Gag comedy movie! And I believe it was all in San’s character, and I thought it was funny. The jokes about being the daughter of Gillian Anderson, and “That doesn’t sound like Claire Danes”
That and acting in a different language, if you’re not completely and utterly confident in it, is really hard. Especially Japanese where the flow of a sentence is so much different than English. And even if you do give the line convincingly and fluently, your posture and face may look like stone cause you were concentrating on getting the line right and not acting. Subtle stuff.
All in all I think everyone did a fantastic job!

Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Hold up.  Luke.. that kid over there.. that’s the son of the legendary Colin Mochrie?  You’re.. you’re serious?  I just.. my mind is just.. I can’t.. AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001224643459 Ryan Smith

Yeah, so like, MarzGirl’s Japanese. Who freaking cares?? Is it really important? It’s fine man. Really. Get over yourselves. Oh, and Princess Mononoke recently became my favorite movie, and while watching it, I was like.. OH MY GOSH! I KNOW WHO MARZGIRL WAS NOW!! :D ..But for the haters…just shut the heck up. Really. We don’t care.

  • Anonymous

A great tip: Less people on Skype at a time, 3/7 of the time it is Skype turning the volume up and down because 3 people repeat the first part of a sentence 3 times simultaniously.

  • exploda

I saw this before I even knew who 95% of the people in it were and I liked it then, now it’s even better, especially with a commentary, though I’d like it with subtitles to actually see what they are saying in the movie.

  • Sajeh

People call the stoner guy genius for being scientist in real life, that is cute… and it puts things into perspective, these internet reviewers are rather dorks now.
