This part of my blog is a follow-up on my previous rants on Guitar Hero and Rock Band, as well as my short review of Far Cry 2 for the PC!

I playing the Fallout, I played so much, but I never used the V.A.T.S. system. The leafblower is for the rock-it-launcher or what. I can’t agree with you about the Fallout 1-2’s music tracks, I listen those track in mp3s too, not only in the game. That’s how I like them. :D
You are right about the nukacola grenade and stuff, I made few, but there is no point. Maybe those are stronger, but that is just not working. And that’s right, why the karate skill, if you have combat shotgun? That was useful in the Fallout 1-2, but not in the Fallout 3. Especially not if somebody play the game as FPS.

Yeah their is one song on RB2 that is kinda pointless but one of my fav bands i think you might of played it but im not sure its the song prequel to the sequel by between the buried and me literally there is like 2 to 3 min that you dont sing and then when you do sing its just screaming i mean its one of my fav bands but i totally am kinda dissapointed that they put that song on there cause it just is pointless for the game

Speaking of decapitations, I was watching my friend playing Fallout 3 this one time and the most hilariously awesome thing happened when he shot a slaver. He used the sniper rifle and shot the guy’s head, and he didn’t just DIE, he EXPLODED. His arms and legs shot off, his head disappeared, and his torso TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET INTO THE SKY. We watched for a few minutes and it never landed.

Also in FC2 you forgot to mension how the enamy weapons suddenly go from standared to F***ING OVER-POWERED.
I can’t tell you how many times I have died just trying to get to a mission objective and suddenly die from a morter round or an attack boat shoots me and i’m dead in one hit. Either you forgot, did’nt play it long enough to notice or it just did’nt bother you.

    About Fallout 3…

V.A.T.S. is more useful if you have an older computer, sometimes the game tends to stutter a bit making it hard to aim. It looks pretty cool as well. In the first two games you would always be in V.A.T.S. mode in combat. In Fallout Tactics you could choose.

I shoot at limbs if the percentage chance to hit is higher (usually on characters that don’t have the sniper perk yet).

About items, the nuka grenades and bottlecap mines kick ass. They do a lot more damage than the frag grenades/mines. Also, the dart gun is pretty badass, though I don’t play with it… It almost feels like cheating. All the other items you can create are pretty much useless though (except maybe the deathclaw gauntlet).

Decapitations happen a lot, but playing with bloody mess is even more ridiculous. It does give a bonus to damage, but seeing every enemy explode gets tedious after five minutes.

I like the game, but I think the first one is my favorite in the series. Second one was good too, except for the end with all the unfinished/rushed areas. I think the third one was a bit too easy, and I would have liked it if it had the same system as the first two where having a low intelligence would make you into a total moron – playing a stupid character would be like playing a whole different game. As it is, you get hardly any penalty for neglecting CHA and INT in Fallout 3… It’s still a fun game, I agree with you that it could have had some more boss characters and more REAL endings (like the ones in the original games).

Psyched about Broken Steel, level cap increased to 30 and a new ending, hopefully it’ll be good stuff.

    RE: Farcry 2 stealth.

I think you may have been taking the wrong approach to stealth from the way you discribed it in this vid.

Being stealthy is hard! Very hard… but ultimatly very rewarding if when carried out correctly.

It requires a lot of patience to pull off, since the enemy will go into “alert” mode and start hunting you down if they see a guy get shot, come across a corpse, hear a shot from a non-silenced weapon, experience a near misses from silenced weapons, or hear the death rattle of one of your victim (caused by dropping somone with anything other than a clean headshot).

There is really only weapon load out that allows for stealth and is the Silenced MP5, Dart Rifle, and any other side arm (though it’s probably best to take the G-Launcher for an all-comers list). Stealth works best at night as well since the range at which enemies can see you is lessened, while you can see the enemy better due to the lack of broken shadows experienced during daylight.

Its best to start by finding a good observation point and spotting senteries. Pick them off along your approach route one by one, while being patient and following the rules stated in the paragraph above about detection. If you encounter a situation where you can’t take someone out quietly, don’t! Leave them alone and try to sneek past them.

Once you decide your ready to make your approach, switch to the MP5 and move slowly towards your objective. Once more be patient. Listen to your surroundings: the enemy usually chatter giving you fair warning that they are around the next corner. Don’t try to take anyone down, unless you are certain that no one will see you. It came to my attention however, that sometimes the enemy will only go into “alert” mode in a localised area if they hear you moving around. I think the whole camp goes up if they find a body, etc…

Playing like this it’s quite possible to complete missions, scout check-points, etc, without ever getting into active combat, though I’ll be the first to admit that it is easier to just charge in and kill everyone, especially on the easier difficulty modes.

Sorry if this post turned into a bit of a tactica, didn’t mean it to, just sort of happened.

oh my god i hated FC2 started out great then sucked, and tot the person who posted above, i used essentially those same tactics, and stealth really does fail, and i will now and will forever hate goddamn mortars, they were incredibly stupid, i remember being out on a boat in the middle of a lake with NOBODY around, incidentally, it was my first encounter with mortars, so i’m cruising around and out of NOWHERE i hear this high pitched scream and boom dead. the mortars were ridiculous they were perfectly accurate and always deadly, also the damaging on the guns was annoying because half the time they blow up in your hands at the worst time, the nail in the coffin (at least in my opinion) was the malaria thing, It always seemed to flare up for me in the middle of a damn firefight and worst of all you had to do missions to get more medication that you needed to continue the game. and for the most part cars aren’t optional you need them to get around if you dont have one it takes a LONG time to walk from point A to point B.

I have to agree with you on Fallout three. The game is great but their so many bugs and glitches that piss me off. I’m not sure if I wanna get the DLC for that game and also its useless to be evil in this game. I hate how i can’t repair my own weapons and armor and character animation and design are not well done and character you created has no weight so you just slid every where. My favorite gun is AK,9mm sub machine gun and plasma rifle/pistol

Oh, Far Cry 2. Far Cry 2 is, all in all, a pretty shitty game. Yes, there was genuine effort put into the game, & it shows, but the game is so dragged down by it’s own flaws it’s just flat out miserable to play it. All of the enemies can spot you from 6 FUCKING MILES away, & will hunt you to the ends of the Earth before they let you escape their clutches. You’d be able to fire back, but YOUR FUCKING GUN HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT OF MISFIRING. The weapon degradation system is so poorly executed in this game that it’s insane. I literally sat down with a handgun to see how long it took a weapon to actually jam. Two clips. Two. Fucking. Clips. I was using a Colt M1911. This is retarded. The AK-47 takes 2-3 clips before it jams. Really? An AK-47? And none of this is even getting into the fact that during the game for every single mission in this game is the same! There’s no feeling of progression, no feeling of any sort of struggle, no feeling that you’re even making a fucking difference! The game is a horribly designed excuse for a sequel that’s existence is justified to make Ubisoft more money.

I second what you said about Rock Band and Guitar Hero. I’ll admit I’ve not played all the games in both franchises to death so I appologise if I list a song that HAS appeared, but last I checked songs like “Purple Haze” and “Burning of the Midnight Lamp” by Jimi Hendrix, “By the Way” and “Otherside” by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and “Always” and “You Give Love a Bad Name” by Bon Jovi HAVEN’T been done. Now I appreciate not all fans of those bands/artists may consider those to be good songs but I’d certainly like to hear them! I feel with some bands they haven’t done all their classics, and to hear they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel BEFORE doing songs I’d have included in GH/RB1 doesn’t seem right. And why not include some of the more nieche bands. I appreciate this wouldn’t help the “need to listen to it a few times before getting it”, but they’re more likely to be rock/metal based than some of the garbage they’ve chosen!

The main reason I feel Fallout 3 is amazing in connection to the Sarah Palin character missions is that it’s the only game I know where licking the radioactive poop out of a toilet bowl helps you complete a mission quicker.(In regards to when you have to get your radiation to a certain level for her survival guide)

I HATE guitar hero…there i said it. I HATE HATE HATE it. I want it dead. i want it gone forever. I understand that it’s not the game’s fault as much as my girl’s, who is obsessed with it. plays it all the damn time, plays the same damn songs over and over and over again. I want the people who made it skinned alive and fed to gators. what’s worse, is that she knows how to really play the guitar, and she’s REALLY good, but she hasn’t picked up her REAL guitar in almost a year because she can’t stop playing this villainous game!!! south park was right about this thing, man.

oh and also, you’re totally right about jane’s addiction. god they suck, they even ruined their cover of sympathy for the devil, which may win the “most grueling butchering of a good song” award. and a cookie goes to whoever can tell me what movie this song got butchered by jane’s addiction in. haha :)

oh and also, you’re totally right about jane’s addiction. god they suck, they even ruined their cover of sympathy for the devil, which may win the “most grueling butchering of a good song” award. and a cookie goes to whoever can tell me what movie this song got butchered by jane’s addiction in. haha :)

I just watched this, kinda out of boredom I’ve just been going through some of the old vlogs and stuff here.

Anyway-on your comment regarding Jane’s Addiction-I think they’re an acquired taste, and I’ll admit Perry Farrel’s vocals can sound obnoxious, at least either until you get used to them, or if you happen to like the style of it or whatever. I personally like Jane’s, and musically speaking they’re actually very good-I particularly like how they often actually use the bass for more than just shadowing the guitar melody-in fact in a few songs the main melody IS the bass track-I think “Summertime Rolls” is one example of this.

Also, I’ve read that Jane’s is one of the bands, if not THE band that really established the Alternative Rock genre-before Nirvana came along and actually made it particularly popular (although technically their music is obviously Grunge, which I guess must be a sub-genre of alt-rock). Of course if you hate Alternative Rock then that probably explains your dislike of Jane’s. lol

I only really got into the band myself because they were touring with Nine Inch Nails earlier this year.

Shooting people in the legs and arms can actually be a really good thing. Shoot them in the leg, they can hardly move, shoot them in the arms, they drop their weapons. Also, for the Shishkebab, according to the Fallout wiki, it is the best weapon in the game. Not always for the damage itself, but the burn damage, and if you take a certain perk, the damage will increase even more.

I hated how if you liked using the Chinese pistol for example, you couldn't, because really wasn't practical since it sucked so much ass. Even at full repair, the damage was pathetic. Why couldn't I take a crappy gun and upgrade it with modifications, scopes, extended clips, ect? like it fallout 2? That way you could take an otherwise shitty weapon and customize it to your character, making it better, rather than everyone resorting to just using the most powerful gun in the game. I found so much in this game to be useless and have no application. All the crafted items sucked and I hated having to constantly repair my weapons. There was no point in using VATS to target anything other than the head, the main story arch was short, ended abruptly, and was unsatisfying. You couldn't free roam after you won, however even if you could, all the locations on the map which seemed interesting to explore, were actually VERY anti climatic. Once you arrived at these locations there was very little to see or do. When you see “abandoned car fort” on your map, you start using your imagination thinking how cool it might be. Maybe there's people there surviving or something, like a mini community, but when you get there all you see is a few cars stacked up together on an overpass. I traveled all the way here to see this?! who gives a shit!? It would have been nice to see places similar to New Reno or something. The game had a lot of boring and redundant parts and just felt really cardboard. I didn't care about anything I was doing. Lastly, the game was just too easy. Just find a decent weapon and use vats to head-shot everything. I could go on about it's flaws but I think that's good enough for now. Next I'll try to post what I liked.

  • Jono666

What did I like about the game? well, like Spoony says, it's a great feeling just to be back in the fallout universe. I love the style, music, atmosphere, story, and humor just to name a few, along with so many other aspects of its style. I loved the graphics, and although skeptical at first, I ended up liking how it was 1st person. I think it really helped to immerse you into the world. Yes, it wasn't so practical fighting things in 1st person when you could just use V.A.T.S, but it was still doable for certain situations and it gave you the choice. The perks were funny, good, and interesting. The atmosphere was good for the most part although sometimes feeling dull and bland during the low points. Overall the game was pretty fun to play. Exploring, killing things, completing quests, it was all pretty fun, however I think the game was greatly exaggerated and overrated. I still love fallout 1 and 2 better.

  • Jono666

The 2 most annoying things about the game HANDS DOWN, would have to have been that annoying sob “Threedog”, and that butcher pete song.

  • http://www.facebook.com/DEC4DE Alan Lam

Suffice to say, Fallout 3 ruled mainly because it was essentially fun to walk the wastelands, well sometimes not but the overwhelming sense of lonlines.. unless you have Jericho bitchin or dogmeat there to be your best friend. The combat was alright but guns + elder scrolls 4 just felt a little shallow, and V.A.T.S was entertaining for only so long. If only they had made more DLC instead of waiting for New Vegas this fall

Far Cry 2 is suffice to say, meh at best.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are nothing like playing the real thing is what I can say.

The aiming system, when shooting without it you can hit their “hitbox” but the RPG elements make it “miss”… just makes me ask WHY?! Using the aiming system i think when you actually miss in it the shot doesn't clearly hit the enemy.

I enjoyed farcry 2 multiplayer (it was p2p, imagine that..) it was pretty fun at times but also pretty basic, the map editor was pretty awesome (instantly download maps AND missions, small fast and reliable…neat), besides that the single player delighted and disturbed me in that you go around killing people but also that you are a WHITE GUY committing genocide on BLACK PEOPLE.

Upon that realization, i took a look at farcry 2 pretty hard and decided the story was totally retarded and basic and that multiplayer was far more amusing.

You know. I agree with your points on Far Cry 2, and I still enjoyed the game. It was frustrating in some aspects, but a lot of fun in other aspects. The things it did well, it did EXTREMLY well

I never felt like I was in a shooter when playing Fallout 3. I felt like I was playing an RPG with combat that was shooter like. I loved the VATS system. I got hopelessly addicted to that game. I liked it so damned much that I went back and bought the Fallout collection and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for the PS2. Getting the PS2 game was a mistake. Getting the rest of those was worthwhile, though.

I only got short of money for fixing armor when I got power armor. It got a lot more expensive after that.

Okay, couple of points here about your Fallout 3 review that I disagree with:
The crafting ability of the repair bench was useful for one thing. The dart gun. It’s instant limb cripple ability lets you stand toe to toe with a deathclaw without taking half your health down in a fight with it. This weapon can only be built. The Nuka Grenade was okay, having damage ability just under a mini nuke, but looking for those cursed Quantums was a serious pain in my ass. Second point, you don’t have to carry all that crap around with you. The main reward for the Power of the Atom quest is your own place, be it a house in Megaton (if you disarm the bomb) or a suite in Tenpenny Tower (if you detonate the bomb). These places have non-respawning containers that you can drop whatever you’ve collected into. My main character build is a goody-goody scavenger/sniper, so things like this are useful to me.

In any case, these are just my opinions. Keep on with the great videos, and keep on playing.

Eh, I know this video is old as hell, but……

I think that all music games on consoles that can handle downloadable content need to come out with an iTunes-like system for expanding song lists. Then people can get songs that they actually like if they hate all the default songs.

Or maybe rather than having versions of the game that are dedicated to a single artist/band (I can see that over-saturating the market and causing sales on some individual titles to go awry), perhaps group similar artists together so you’ve basically got genre-samplers.

And ugh, is Jane Addiction that band that’s got the song with all the dogs barking and the unintelligible, whiney, sorry excuse for singing that Dave FM never stops playing? They need to stop making music that contains lyrics. And dogs. They can stop making songs that contain dog barking, too.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1673310152 Julian Andreassen

Well, the setting was right, and the looks of armor and weapons were right, but the difference is that Fallout 1 and 2 had time based strategy, but i bet they changed it because they wanted to make it easier to start with for new players. Sadly, not everyone likes strategy games.

      • TheUnbeholden ,

They didn’t make it a real time FPS to “make it easier to start with
for new players” thats what a tutorial is for, not a whole game. The
reason they made is for your last point, that some people don’t like TB
strategy games. Problem is that hardcore fallout fans won’t like this
and people who like FPS might not like the necessity of using VATS mode
which slows the game down and takes control away from you. Fact is the
game is far away from FO3, not just in gameplay but visually the
wasteland looks different. It looks alot more grey than FO3
is, not enough brown and theres a fair bit of green missing that you should see “some” of, some plants here and there. Signs that the world is recovering. The stories ending is also terrible, the story just felt empty at the end which is kind of really unforgivable for fallout.

Oh yeah, going into VATS, clicking on the head, then watch my character shoot their face until their head falls off (or explode) – which you see up close and in slow motion. :3

BTW, I skill up repair because when you get it really high, you can repair weapons and armor to a significantly higher state, giving you better stats.
