Warrior Unplugged

The Spoony One | May 24 2009 | more notation(s) |

After he retired from wrestling, Warrior (he legally changed his name to that) became a neo-conservative public speaker. This is a recording of him rambling for about an hour on conservative politics at UConn. The crowd goes through the range of emotions, from confused, to bored, back to confused, to shocked, to angry, and ending up at hilarity. I especially love the hecklers who do their best to keep him talking so he might say something else even dumber than before.

Anyway, for those of you who think Warrior was just acting in-character, get a load of this:

(Warning, this is over an hour long. If you want to skip to the good bits, jump up to 39:45)

Warrior is a lunatic. I can’t believe I used to like this guy as a kid.

  • Analaya

Wow, he … You know what? I just go with wow. Well I guess that is to be expected from a guy whose career can be summarized as “takes beatings to the head for money.” Sprinkle that with the usual melange of arrogance and stupidity you can find in the neo-con camp and this is basically what you get.

And seriously, what were they thinking? A college dropout wrestler as speaker on politics? Next thing they elevate a bodybuilder to governor. Oh, wait …

“People, cultures, and civilizations are not equal. America is a superior culture and civilization to all other since the beginning of time.” -Warrior
It takes a… “creative” mind to jump directly to that statement after reading the Oath of Nationalization. Now let’s all get slaves and them apologize for it!

Personally I just wonder if they bring this guy in to lecture for shits and giggles or if they seriously think he has something to contribute with. I guess you could make a point for brining him in to warn people not to do ‘roids, but what the hell.

And seriously watch “The self destruction of the Ultimate warrior” to see how batshit he truly is…and the greatest Warrior impersonations ever curtesy of Chris Jericho and Christian the guy. We should all be happy that he didn’t get into any kind of office as the world would have been nuked in a ‘roid rage…Then again the promo he woud have cut on the targets would ahve had us all laughing till the clouds popped up.

  • OldGorilla

I’m pretty sure my feelings on his speech changed way more during its duration than even the audience’s.

When he said homosexuality is less valid because “it doesn’t work that way, Hoak Hogan” I could see from a societal standpoint what he meant in the same sense that if you are a hobo that you are contributing nothing to the business world. Valid =/= right however and when he brought up his Kwanzaa/Christmas argument immediately after I realized that he hadn’t thought the previous argument through like I had assumed.

Nice find Spoony. The lack of “SELF-BELIEF” made me very sad however.

I realize we are watching this to marvel at the insanity that is Warrior, but all this politics showing up at The Spoony Experiment is dangerous. This, the conservative T-Shirt ads, I’ve seen too many things ruined by political discussion, I hope the line never gets crossed.

This was the best speech I had ever hear in my life cycle… The cooperation between rights and validity comes together under the 8 disciplines to form the greatest of all understandings… that of rightoperidity… When the ancestors look upon the being they must always know the path is still forged by WARRIOR… Still in these times of dark times I look to the belief of self that guided the process in which I find myself… While the world is caught in its good boy day dreams I must remain foked on the disciplines I was meant to follow… that I can only ever be me… and now it is known that in being me I fulfill the rightoperidity of being… The disciplines of destrucity have not led me astray to be coddled by the womb of inaction… instead I am driven by my destiny of being to become that which I always knew I could… the WARRIOR.

The views of Warrior do not represent those of the legitimate Libertarian, Republican or Conservative movement. True conservatives believe in the freedom of the individual. Nor does Warrior stand before the legions of wrestling fans the world over. He has appeared on many conservative shows before the hosts realized the man was in fact twisted and warped.

i’m actually surprised by some of these comments ,basically the guy was saying take responsibility for your actions because down the road the only person to blame is yourself.

and that their is right and wrong moral obligations …..you can’t have true and false if everything is a shade of grey .

but these days common sense is far and few between, people tell each other what to say how to live and what to do and sue over just about everything .

Sad thing is, there are people out there just as crazy as this guy! I know quite a few. I love how he says conservatism is about thought and not feeling, yet makes every assertion based on feelings and not evidence. Gays aren’t legitimate – why – because that’s what he feels!

I feel bad using Spoony’s words earlier. That quote was all him.

    Here’s my own.
“Stay tuned for the Warrior Christmas Special. Only on Fox after American Idol and ‘Dude where’s my job.’ “

  • Bob

He almost had a point with that homosexual bit, problem was it suffered from both bad wording and the context of his arguement. Might have been smarter if he presented that part within the context of how in biology that kinda doesn’t work, like he tried but failed to connect. Even then though it doesn’t really connect with politics… His holiday part didn’t make any sense though, because that’s out and out belief no matter which you look at, though granted it brings in a hell of a lot of complications.

You especially have to love the part where he says “Your opinion is wrong” and then takes about 30 minutes explaining why (which makes no sense ). It kinda reminds me of message boards I used to go to where people would do the same things :)

Dang…that was insanely funny. Thanks for putting this up.

At first I thought this was somewhat contraversial until his excellent quotes came out, “Queerism does not make the world work” why? “reality” wtf? your reality? The guy is just arguing his own opinion and if someone questions him he says because I said so. Then he comes out with “America > everything”. I’m not even going to touch that…

    Warrior should be an ambassador….

Arguing about politics is like blindly kicking out in a room full of people. Sooner or latter your gonna hit someone where it hurts and they’ll kick back.

still, the man makes some good points, but his more retarded ones make him look crazy.

I don’t think he was Foked enough on his relevant and reasonable points.

“Queering doesn’t make the world work.”

Rofl I love it, best public speech ever. You know you’ve got a real intelligent person when they ignore people that want him to name ONE fact or give one reason and he says there’s too many or just ignores them and says they weren’t paying attention.
    He’s so prolike at failing.

Wow…so he’s that douche who posts on youtube all the time! We’ve finally found him! Really, though, it’s kind of sad that a grown man with such mental disabilites is allowed to walk free in modern culture. He’s a dangerous demagogue, really. At first, I was going to post about all the things he said wrong…but, like xplay3r said, you need a flow chart with several accompanying essays in order to begin to describe the ways in which he has completely lost his mind. I’m surprised he didn’t tell the hecklers to go foke themselves…and i definitely detected a skronk somewhere in there.

A total moron, ex-celebrity, with a fragile ego that need to shell itself in narcissism. Perfect candidate for the republican party; USA you might have found your next president. God that country pisses me off.

Also, liberalism is about an ABSOLUTE and UNIVERSAL ethic where the rights of an individuals must be respected at all cost. It is not an ethic with “grey eras”. And conservatism is a SCAM. “Black and white” mentallity is more of a “what the party want you to see as good or bad and that change whenever the creeps in charge feels like to”. M. Warrior does a great job embodying this mentality of authoritarian idiot with the illusion of knowledge and experience when all he really have are desillusions of grandeur and big, retarded mouth. What is sad is that no matter what, there will be people defending him because they want to beleive, they need heros, wether they’re truly heroic or not. People fall in love with magical thinking and forget about reality and facts.

    M. Warrior will never obtain his “destrucity” and now that his glamorous lifestyle is a thing of the past, he’s nothing more than a rambling buffon with no hope at respectability on his own. But, confronted with the choice of either realizing how much of a failure he is or falling back into his magical world, he choosed his little fantasy where he’s such an important guy with deep philosophical and spiritual insight.

Liberalism is for sheeps and conservatism is for morons and fascist tools. Hybrid systems like social liberalism are better. It’s a compromise between liberal ethic (the integrity of the indivual must be respected) and socialism (societies must be protected). It is the only sensible option in the moment for any contemporary civilization and it’s working wonder (look at Norway for exemple). And yes, its full of grey eras, like life. Nothing is freaking simple, only the simple minded dwell in simplicity in this incredibly complex reality.

Finally, don’t be scared of talking politic. At worst, people will only get angry at each other on the internet, thats all. No big deal.

PS My english is less than desirable. Sorry, not my native langage.
PPS Also, M. Warrior is a total self-hating fag.

I’ll be honest. He had some valid points for about 1/2 an hour. And then his last question was very important and quite interesting. Most of what was in-between was a bit odd. I really like the idea of thinking about things that I do and how they will affect future generations though. Makes me want to strive to actually do something important.

  • Lotus Prince

I love how he entirely avoids questions that require a thought process.

as a fiscal conservative i can safely say this guy is a complete and total nut job for some one to say an entire political system is based off feeling alone and another off logic (apparently the Warrior is a Vulcan) is completely barbaric carl marx was a political genius even though i disagree with him i know he just had a different way of thinking your political ideologies are based off of what you think is morally right. And most liberals aren’t anti american they’re just against the way some of the things are run in america hence the word liberal. Truly this man is a disgrace to conservatives everywhere. SKRONK!!

while I agree that you need to provide for yourself and not rely on the government to put food on the table, when it comes to everything else this guy is horribly intolerant. Sure there are some “right” opinions, but that doesn’t mean that everyone who’s willing to listen to multiple opinions is wrong. We don’t always need a clear cut answer, we do need to look though.

It’s best to remember that Warrior does not speak for conservatives, nor did any conservative put him in the position to say his ludicrously idiotic statements on behalf of us.

Then again, I’m growing rather irritated by the conservatives who ARE being put into positions of saying ludicrously idiotic statements, hence why I say a plague on both their houses at this point.

Ugh, I remember his comment about homosexuality, stating that “Queering don’t make the world work.” He definately deserves to be punted in the head ala Randy Orton to Vince McMahon. Or I’ll gladly take forcing him to read the utter abomination that is the Kevin Nash comics & the old WCW Comics all in a row, with no bathroom breaks. He’ll gladly take back everything he said afterwards.

Well, He is no idot or retard….even I, the smartest man in the world ;) has never read Ann Rand…lol
But none the less, we can agree or disagree…it doesn’t really matter.
What matters is that if “The Warrior” wanted to “make” you agree…he could, and that’s what’s really scarey.
Imagine, someone like him, 2000 years ago, would be king if he really tried. He has the physical ability, the mental ability (to a point), and even a decent public speaking skill set.

By the way, what he is preaching is Facism, plane and simple:
Belief that there are no “right” opions other than your own
Belief in superiority of your idealogy, culture, and civilization
Belief in a predestinded purpose for you and your fellow human beings
A call for each individual, within this superiour civilazation, to take personal responsiblity to “fufill there destiny” for the purpose of manifesting your own world view, to make what you believe become a reality.
Oh, and the PHYSCIAL and TECHNOLOGICAL will and ability to make it happen. (example, Hilters perfect Aryan race ideas)

Dear god, what the hell was that I watched just now? And what the fuck is his point again? WHAT THE FUCK WAS HE EVEN TALKING ABOUT?

“Answer the fucking question!” “What the fuck have you been smoking?!” He doesn’t have an answer…god, how sad. This is why I hate politics, it destroys everything you hold dear! You know, I’m a conservative, but that doesn’t stop me from admitting that the warrior is a complete right wing nut job.

Nobody has the right to judge one another. We are all different.

As a country, Americans need to work together to make our country better. I don’t care what people believe, I just want my country to “be” the best country on earth. Plain and simple.

This guy is totally batshit crazy. Who the hell does he think he is ?

Of course every opinion different than his own is wrong.
Of course the US are the greatest country in the world.
Of course everyone who doesn’t do things the american way is wrong and evil.

    I think there’s a word for that… isn’t that called FASCISM ?

Seriously, there’s nothing wrong with being patriotic, but this is just total jingoistic bullshit.

I remember when I read his blog and he wrote “Every american soldiers life is worth more than the entire population of Iraq”, I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry.

Why is it that people who always have something bad to say about the United States Of America are always from a country that doesn’t have a “Democracy”? or some shitty country that no one gives a rats ass about if someone nuked it off the map?

USA! all the way baby! I love my country, and I support my country!

Yabadabadoo to anyone who says otherwise (yeah deep political joke in that).

I’ve not called myself “conservative” in a while. I believe in small government, fiscal conservatism, personal responsibility (income, retirement, personal protection, etc), freedom of culture. I believe that the government should exist to establish a framework to allow people to pursue their interests, not to individually hand-hold. I’m a privacy advocate. I don’t associate with libertarians, because social darwinism runs strong in their beliefs. Conservatives, like teh awesum Warrior said, are just focused on the “That’s the way it’s always been” bullshit, not rocking the boat of established money flows, and trying to legislate morality. Both the dems & reps are being assholes with turning our country into a police/surveillance state.

It’s annoying to always describe specific political beliefs rather than having a handy label. :(

I’ll try to avoid saying that this guy is ‘batshit crazy’ and concentrate on what he said rather than on him as a person. This way I will not make the same mistake he did when replaying to other people. He didn’t try to ‘answer the f***ing question(s)’ but rather focused (or FOKED!) on insulting people who asked them. I really hate when someone substitutes factual knowledge with epithets only because they lack the intelligence and preparation for discussion.

Calling people ‘idiots’ just because they disagree with you is also not a very smart move.

About the ‘it doesn’t work that way’ part.
I really wish I could remind him about that next time he has oral sex with his wife- does that contribute something to the society?
In the 21st century we have the knowledge and technology (thank to SCIENCE!) to create life in laboratories =) Homosexuals can have children if they want to. He really missed the point here- the essence of sexuality is not who we have sex with but what gender we can bestow with our love.

I’m glad now that I’m European. Good luck Americans- you’re generally nice guys!

It’s one thing when (would be)politicians dance around questions, but this fool can’t even do so with any subtlety. “Reality”? What sort of answer is that? Every time a question came up that he didn’t like (or, most likely, didn’t know the answer to) he just dismissed it as being out of touch with reality. Someone needs to look in a mirror ….

“Queering doesn’t make the world work.”

Given that there are highly succesful gay people in very powerful positions, I assume he’s actually referring to the means of reproduction. It always annoys me when people oppose homosexuality on the grounds that it’ll “bring about the end of the world”. WTF? Let’s just be generous here and say that around 15% (most likely less) of the world is homosexual: so WHAT?? What effect would that have on our existence in the least? We’re all still reproducing. Hell, Earth’s fucking OVER-populated. Yes, it cannot be disputed that on biological grounds homosexuality “doesn’t work”, simply because two members of the same sex cannot naturaly create life together, but technology has already overcome this. If we ever do find ourselves on the brink of extinction, it will most likely be because of (nuclear) wars, or polution, or perhaps even a fucking meteor smashing into us (or whatever cosmic menace the media will gleefully threaten us with), but homosexuality? Un-fucking-likely.

    WARRIOR can go “foke” himself.

Well, here’s my two cents, not having watched the video (I KNOW how crazy the man is).

I am, personally, liberal. I think socialism can work, blah blah blah. If anything, I’m an anarchist (but only in a very specific sense of the term; what I consider anarchy is what some of my American friends call participative democracy).

However, despite my views, I consider conservatism to be a necessary and valuable side of the political spectrum. I’m sorry to any conservatives here who think that this is offensive, but I don’t see conservative politics as ‘innovative’. Conservatism is about resisting innovation, but that’s a good thing.

Conservatism exists to balance the fads of the liberal side. Everyone complains about the extreme right-wing (and they ARE bad, I’m not disputing that) but the extreme left-wing is just as bad. I’m an anarchist, but I don’t really see it as something currently achievable, so I’m not going to go out and start an anarchist revolution. But conservatism exists to balance out the fads that just wouldn’t work at the moment (like anarchy, for example) so that we maintain a political system that is functional and open to reasonable levels of innovation while keeping enough of the old to remain functional.

You assume that the only purpose of sexuality is reproduction. Some scientists beg to differ.

In the end, his arguments don’t even make sense anymore. “Your greatest asset to contribute to the world is what you are” ? What does that even mean ? Humanity is the greatest victory to be achieved ? Does that mean I just have to say “I am a human being”, and bam! I can die happy ? I have just contributed to the world by being human ?

It feels like I’m back in that godawful comic : “My destiny has always been to be who I am”…

That man’s whole argument is : “I am right, my country and my ideas are the best in the world, and if you disagree, then take that object out of your mouth.”

“Fuck compromise and debate ! I AM RIGHT, HOAK HOGAN !”

Yes, I consider Wayne’s World to contain more insightful social commentary than any of Warrior Warrior’s speeches; prove me wrong.

“Queering don’t make the world work.! Priceless, didn’t know queer could become a verb.

If everyone was gay mankind would become extinct? Then there must be something wrong with that 10% of the population! Durr.

Much more interesting to debate is that idea to that “people should provide for themselves”. I think that’s egoistic and outdated bullshit. We’re social animals, capable of working together, and trusting each other. And it’s always much more efficient to do so; it’s simple, rational mathematics if you look past your own ego.

What a person can do for herself is always less than what she can do for others. Why you’d want to build a society on the principle of working against each other instead of with each other is beyond me.

Wow, talk about being sexist, racist, homophobic and everything else that is narrow minded in politics. The homosexual one was particuarly funny. I think Louis C.K summed up the argument about gay couples perfectly.

Gay side: “We work the same as everyone else, pay our taxes just like everyone else and should be entitled to the same benefits as everyone else”

    Argument: “Err… THEY’RE FUCKIN QUEERS!”

“but the extreme left-wing is just as bad.”

Oh, no arguments here. I can’t speak for everyone but I never meant to imply the Left couldn’t be as bad.

But that doesn’t change the fact that this is pants-on-head retarded…

“Yes, I consider Wayne’s World to contain more insightful social commentary than any of Warrior Warrior’s speeches; prove me wrong.”

Good points. Not to say that people shouldn’t work and provide for themselves, but there’s nothing wrong with helping your neighbor out if you’re able. Better than the dog-eat-dog, step on everyone you can on your way to the top lifestyle that a lot of people seem to support.

Well, I’m not one to argue, if The Ultimate Warrior says America is the best culture and civilization of all time, then it’s time we start putting all Japanese citizens in pens and drop nuclear weapons on civilian targets in their home country. That is the way we won WW2 damnit, and that’s what makes America so great. Freedom, Except for black and japanese people.

Does that mean you’ll be paying all my bills and buying all my food from now on? No? Well why not? Why should I have to provide for myself? I thought that was egoistic and outdated bullshit?

“And it’s always much more efficient to do so; it’s simple, rational mathematics if you look past your own ego.”

Then why did the Soviet Union collapse? If it’s ALWAYS much more efficient for everyone to provide for each other rather than people just providing for themselves, then shouldn’t the Russians have won the Cold War? Shouldn’t we have been the ones whose economy imploded because we were unable to sustain a prolonged arms race?

“What a person can do for herself is always less than what she can do for others. Why you’d want to build a society on the principle of working against each other instead of with each other is beyond me.”

Yes, because clearly THAT’S what the phrase “people should provide for themselves” means. It can’t possibly mean something like “people should learn to rely on themselves and not automatically expect handouts from others”, that’d just be silly.

“I think Louis C.K summed up the argument about gay couples perfectly.”

In that case both you AND Louis C.K. need to take a crash course in the proper way to argue. Reducing your opponent’s argument to a ridiculous caricature is called the “strawman fallacy”. As Neal Stephenson once said, the only real sign of intelligence is the ability to detect subtlety. Whether you agree with the arguments against gay marriage or not, pretending that anyone who disagrees with you is nothing but a hateful bigot is the sign of a small mind.

LOL . “Queering Doesn’t Make the World Work Hoak Hogan!!! Gay people need to foke members of the opposite sex Hoak Hogan!!!”

Despite the insanity, he makes a few good points, regarding the idiocy of moral relativism. The only problem is that Conservatism and (modern day) Liberalism are both based on emotions, rather than reason. Many liberals advocate for government control of the economy, and other aspects of people’s lives such control over health care, the work place for solely self congratulatory reasons. Conservatives likewise base their social policy on a religious document that’s 2000 years old, HOAK HOGAN and they foke too much on what they think is moral. Classical Liberalism which is basically modern day Libertarianism is really the only philosophy that advocates for freedom and it’s basic principles are founded in reason, not religion or emotion. Now despite killing jawas, WARRIOR is right that America is better than other nations, because of our freedom and our understanding of inherent natural liberties. Also HOAK HOGAN, some liberals don’t believe in right and wrong and think every opinion or culture is equal. I’m not going to foke on the insanity of WARRIOR’s mind, but some things are absolutely right and some are absolutely wrong. All it rests on is whether something violates someone’s consent to their body or property. All rights extend out of the right to your own body. If some point a right that extends from that is violated, that is an objective wrong.

The main problem with this whole political argument is conservatives are too wrong about so many things to rightly advocate for freedom and natural rights and liberals are far too morally relativist and arrogant to actually believe in any objective principles of right and wrong. What this nation needs is a resurgence of liberty minded thought….HOAK HOGAN!!!!! AMERICA NEEDS TO FOKE ON THE FOUNDING FATHERS PHILOSOPHY AND KNOW THAT WHEN YOU ENTER THE RING WITH AMERICA, HOAK HOGAN…YOU WILL BE TANGLING WITH A FORCE FOR FREEDOM AND LIBERTY AND THAT HAS ENDURED FOR OVER 200 YEARS AND THAT FORCE IS THE ONLY RATIONAL ONE!!! its clown like this fuck up the reputation of the Republican party who make sure the cartoonish stereo type of the snarling gay hateing, women hating ,1950′s leave it to beaver christian jihadists stays alive

so to will the stereo type of the unreasonable only talk to people liberal (i don’t have that many insults for the liberals as i am one,i think)

also with to the question of socialism, the economy and the government are both like beasts, beasts to be harnessed for the good of the people NOT beasts to be slaughtered .checks and balances, you check and balance the economy just the same as you would check and balance the government

as for the nukeing of japan and the camps that Chris P Bacon was tasteful enough to dig up, (admitting segregation is a sin we will never live down)he forgot the part where German Americans were thrown in insane asylums and some Italian Americans were throne in prison . as for the nuke?

you wanna know how many more people would have died in a conventional invasion on BOTH sides, at the end of the war stalin had jumped in on the Japanese front and by then the Americans were fighting just as dirty as the Japanese it would have been a blood bath. it was the 2 city’s to break their spirit in place of the entire country to break them.

I’d love to have the forgiveness of the Japanese people, as soon as the Japanese get the forgiveness of all the Chinese people they oppressed during that nightmare.

(I’m I a lowed mouth neo con or a lowed mouth hype? I’m pro gay marriage and gay adoption, pro abortion, pro stem cell research/but I’m also pro 2nd amendment pro death penalty and believe that free open society’s are BETTER than fascist ones and a society that polices the corporations to prevent them from swindling their employees is BETTER than an absolute lasis fair that enslaves people)

you wanna know how many more people would have died in a conventional invasion on BOTH sides, at the end of the war stalin had jumped in on the Japanese front and by then the Americans were fighting just as dirty as the Japanese it would have been a blood bath. it was the 2 city’s to break their spirit in place of the entire country to break them.

I’d love to have the forgiveness of the Japanese people, as soon as the Japanese get the forgiveness of all the Chinese people they oppressed during that nightmare.

““I think Louis C.K summed up the argument about gay couples perfectly.”

Whether you agree with the arguments against gay marriage or not, pretending that anyone who disagrees with you is nothing but a hateful bigot is the sign of a small mind.”

To be honest, I’ve never heard an argument against gay marriage that didn’t, in the end, boil down to either bigotry or irrational stubbornness. It’s always “BECAUSE THEY’RE QUEER!” or “That’s the way it’s always been.” Neither one of which seems like a good thing to build a policy on.

I don’t mean to derail this thread, but I just had to get that off my chest.

“You are entitled to your wrong opinion.”

How kind of him to allow the audience to have a different opinion, even if it is wrong. :P

For about 30 minutes it really did sound like a motivational speech, but then it degenerated into some Destrucity fueled rant.

Man, this guy puts conservatives to shame. True conservatives believe in freedom and fiscally sound government. However, many supposed “conservatives” do not follow this path. This is why Democrats and Republicans are basically the same. One of the reasons why I became a Libertarian. Anyway, this guy should not get involved in politics EVER! Imagine him in a civilized discussion about politics.

I was cool with this up until he started doing politics. In HS I was actually worse off than Hellwig, guidance counselors would tell me to DROP OUT and just work retail forever just cuz my GPA was under 3. So his whole thing on being self motivated is awesome, its what separates men from boys. I don’t blame anyone but me for my successes or failures. He’s also spot on about how a wrestlers character is at its most successfull when it is an outward manifestation of how they are outside the ring (he probably stole that quote from Raven tho).

I think he was just doing the neo-conservative thing just to make ppl mad.

Assuming that’s true (no offense but I’ve noticed a lot of people are less than honest when they talk about “all the arguments I’ve heard”) then the failing is yours for not fully researching the other side’s position. There are numerous arguments against gay marriage that don’t “boil down to bigotry” as you say (I discounted “irrational stubbornness” because one person’s “irrational stubbornness” is another person’s timeless tradition). Only focusing on the worse aspects of the other side is another form of the strawman fallacy.

Okay, when did he quote Hitler? Show me the exact time in the video where you think he quotes Adolf Hitler, then supply the actually quote from Adolf Hitler to prove it. It should be easy for you to do since you’ve got the video right in front of you and you’ve got the entire internet with all of Hitler’s writings and speeches at your fingertips.

“The way Hitler spoke about a “pure” Germany is the way he was talking about America.”

Oh wait, so he didn’t actually quote Hitler, he just said something that reminded you of “the way Hitler spoke about Germany”. Well gosh, that’s quite a bit different, isn’t it?

Hey, remember that time when Barack Obama said he wanted to build a “civilian national security force” that was “just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the US military? That sounded an awful lot like the Schutzstaffel to me. And remember when he had a proposal on his campaign website for mandatory community service for high school and college students? That sounded an awful lot like the Hitler Youth to me. So going by your logic, if something Obama said reminded me of Hitler, Obama must be like Hitler, right?

Here’s something I think hasn’t quite been pointed out, but WARRIOR’S “Queering doesn’t make the world work” and other politically correct statements are deliberate attempts to bait the audience in order to prove his argument that “Conservatives are governed by reason and Liberals are governed by emotion.”

And sure enough, people in audience take the bait by reacting emotionally, thus “proving” his argument without having to cite specific examples himself. And when people do try and argue his points rationally, he ramps up the rhetoric, mixing insults, sarcasm, and name calling, to provoke people into responding with insults, sarcasm, and name calling themselves, thus, once again, “proving” his argument that “liberals are irrational and emotional.”

This is clearly demonstrated when he gets into a side-debate with one of the students over “there are no rights without responsibility” after the student responds by saying the right to life is a right that doesn’t have to be earned and therefore doesn’t require responsibility–not to mention that he didn’t make it clear to whom a person has to be responsible towards. Likewise when the one girl with the glasses attempted to define the difference between conservatives and liberals and WARRIOR all but accuses her of being a socialist despite the fact that she was correctly answering the question.

Then again, perhaps this was self-evident or that I’m reading too much into it.

“The only problem is that Conservatism and (modern day) Liberalism are both based on emotions, rather than reason. Many liberals advocate for government control of the economy, and other aspects of people’s lives such control over health care, the work place for solely self congratulatory reasons. Conservatives likewise base their social policy on a religious document that’s 2000 years old, HOAK HOGAN and they foke too much on what they think is moral.”

Your characterization of conservatism is both false and short-sighted. The fact that you apparently believe conservatives get all their moral teachings from the Bible and nowhere else suggests that you haven’t met with or talked with a single conservative for more that a few seconds at most. Not all conservatives are Christians and not all conservatives are religious (claiming they are is just as bigoted as claiming all liberals are religion-hating atheists). Plenty of conservatives oppose Roe v. Wade based on federalism. Plenty of conservatives oppose gay marriage because they think it’ll start us down a slippery slope leading to the further cheapening of marriage. Both of those are perfectly secular positions based on logic and reason, not emotion or religion.

Plus, even conservatives that are religious and/or Christian don’t all endorse the same social policy. For instance, I’m a Christian conservative who would prefer to see the federal government get totally out of marriage altogether and leave it up to the states instead of banning gay marriage.

“Classical Liberalism which is basically modern day Libertarianism is really the only philosophy that advocates for freedom and it’s basic principles are founded in reason, not religion or emotion.”

Classical liberalism is hardly the same as modern day libertarianism. They have things in common (but then so does modern day American conservatism) but they have quite a few differences as well.

The HOAK HOGAN-Stuff in these comments kills me^^ But it’s really weird to see how this “speech” (which has even less information per words than his comics) actually started political discussions here! To everyone saying “He’s good some good points”: What exactly do you mean? Moral relativism is bad if you take it too far and start to tolerate terrorism? Wow! Thank you Captain Obvious!! I DID need an hourlong speech by a WWF has-been to figure that one out!

Considering how many people in this country apparently haven’t figured that out, I’d say a lot of people ironically DO need the message dumbed-down to “has-been professional wrestler” level, if only to make sure it finally penetrates their skulls.

In a perfect world I would now go on and watch YOR 2: The Man vs. the Warrior. Yeah, the epic battle of advanced knowledge and destrucity…..

Wow. I don’t agree with some of the things he’s saying, particularly his stance on homosexuality, but he’s one hell of an entertainer I give him that. I think he’s taking patriotism to a new level. I understand he’s being realistic, on one hand, by saying that no one is truly equal and striving for a utopia is not in the best interests, but imposing religion on the audience and saying America is a perfect country is not respectful and realistic either.

This guy is just a wild card. He should do more speeches.

Seriously, enough with the politics. I get uncomfortable when I see reviewers even mention real world politics and political figures, and now having people like Linkara flat out saying their political stances. I don’t want to find some ideological difference that makes me stop respecting these people because of a stupid partisan divide. Politics are barred from the forums, why is the comment board and the advertisements any different?

I don’t agree with everything he said during his speech, especially his stance against gay marriage, but many things that he says are in fact true. The students of this school should be ashamed for their juvenile and disrespectful behavior. The fact that he had the guts to say this in a liberal school should be applauded. Speak on Warrior and don’t be afraid to question the phyilosophy of the mainstream media.

““To be honest, I’ve never heard an argument against gay marriage that didn’t, in the end, boil down to either bigotry or irrational stubbornness. It’s always “BECAUSE THEY’RE QUEER!” or “That’s the way it’s always been.””

Only focusing on the worse aspects of the other side is another form of the strawman fallacy.”

Personally, I wouldn’t say that’s a failure of my ability to research the position as much as it is either a failure on the part of those I’ve discussed the issue with to articulate their position properly, or else that I’m right about their position.

And “timeless tradition” alone is simply not a good enough reason to deny people civil rights. Nobody has been yet able to tell me why tweaking this particular tradition in the name of equal rights is a bad thing.

“Considering how many people in this country apparently haven’t figured that out, I’d say a lot of people ironically DO need the message dumbed-down to “has-been professional wrestler” level, if only to make sure it finally penetrates their skulls.”

    NOW who’s building strawmen?

Far as I’m concerned, Warrior and other wannabe-pundits are successful at diverting people’s attention from actual problems (corporate veto power over the well-being of the American people) and against a vague, monolithic “government” or “liberals”.

On gay marriage…I really don’t care. I used to have opinions on abortion, too (I was ok with it), but learned that unless you belong to the demographic which is affected, you have no business pretending to have a view.

Wow, his shit was strong up until he asked for rights without responsibilities, and the dude said “Right to Life”

That makes me think, who has a right to life? nobody. In nature, nothing has a RIGHT to life, it has to be earned and fought for.

Maybe we do NOT have a right to life. Just in our society, we accept that many things do not have the right to life, animals and plants, basically. Why do we assume that humans are the only things on the planet that have a RIGHT to LIFE?

Strange. Even stranger when we consider that we take that RIGHT away from some people who have been assumed to have done something to forfeit it, but we pass judgment on other societies who take the right to life away from individuals for different reasons.

Long debate brewing here, but I guess I’d just have to say that I was impressed by the WARRIOR’s philosophical reasoning, up until the point that he equated the founders’ inspiration from evolving philosophical theories as an absolute standard of truth and nationalism.

Good on you, Spoony, for bringing this obscure piece to our attention.

While I am loathe to post on here knowing full well I will be attacked, I would have to say what the Warrior said was taken out of context to some respect and that he was easily getting upset from being heckled.

Most conservatives, at least apparently those that Warrior considers himself, are ground in realism. Some things aren’t equal no matter how right it should be. It’s like saying life is fair when we all know it isn’t. Some things aren’t fair, and that is reality. That’s what he was trying to say.

What came across was a sense of racist and homophobic conservative republican slander. He did not use words effectively to make an eloquent argument. Of course, being heckled and jeered at in a room full of college students isn’t exactly the best place to make an argument, especially since most are liberal democrats.

But Warrior makes a point. It’s about reality and not about what we wish it to be. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. We all want the world to be perfect, but unfortunately, the world is not perfect and cannot be made that way. It’s just the way things are.

I’m sorry if this upsets you. I’m sorry if you think I’m an idiot. I’m sorry if you can’t grasp reality. But I’m not sorry that I’m a realist and neither is the Warrior.

It’s usually a mistake to try to speak to them in mass at all as it always dissolves into them just giggling an laughing an being moronic. That being said I think it says something that Wrestlers are becoming Politicians. Because when you come down to it they are both entertainers whose job is mostly fake bs.

I dunno Mike, you and everyone else here trying to make sense of his speech MIGHT be on to something…

But I have to ask though, what’s the point? Trying to prove that liberal-minded people react too emotionally? So you’re telling me if it were a room full of conservative kids and he was saying the exact opposite of everything he said to this room that the kids in -that- audience wouldn’t behave similarly? I’d bet money on it that you’d hear the same damn thing, lots of yelling and heckling.

I’m not really convinced that he put that much thought into it, but what do I know. I try to avoid politics like the fucking plague, the only reason I’m even interested in this is because Spoony posted it.

@189: Some people let them do it for the entertainment value, but then they forget to ignore the person after the fact.

“Sure the extreme left can be delusional, but the cant be this bad. Sorry Godwin, but it is nescesary to point out, he was quoting Hitler.”

He was talking about fascist ideology- the superior Arian race. Views presented by WARRIOR are extremely similar (by this I mean xenophobic) if not exactly the same.

I also want to point out that you seem to be the only one confused here therefore it is your responsibility to do something with your lack of knowledge. It should be easy, as you said: “It should be easy for you to do since you’ve got the video right in front of you and you’ve got the entire internet with all of Hitler’s writings and speeches at your fingertips”

“Your characterization of conservatism is both false and short-sighted. The fact that you apparently believe conservatives get all their moral teachings from the Bible and nowhere else suggests that you haven’t met with or talked with a single conservative for more that a few seconds at most. Not all conservatives are Christians and not all conservatives are religious (claiming they are is just as bigoted as claiming all liberals are religion-hating atheists).”

I find it funny that you accuse someone about characterising someones views in a ‘false’ and ‘short-sighted’ way and few lines later you do it yourself. You call non believers ‘religion-hating’ and assumes that they all are racist bigots yet you obviously ‘haven’t met with or talked with a single [] for more that a few seconds’. (Touche!).

Atheist don’t hate religion- they hate narrow minded idiots who create differences and suggest that one person is better than another. The fact that most of those imbeciles are believers is not really their fault and cannot be used to define atheists as ‘religion-haters’.

[btw- You spelled characterization wrong =)]

“But I have to ask though, what’s the point? Trying to prove that liberal-minded people react too emotionally? So you’re telling me if it were a room full of conservative kids and he was saying the exact opposite of everything he said to this room that the kids in -that- audience wouldn’t behave similarly? I’d bet money on it that you’d hear the same damn thing, lots of yelling and heckling.”

That’s what I getting at: if WARRIOR was a liberal, claimed that “liberals govern through reason and conservatives govern through emotion,” said provocative statements, and the audience reacted with lots of yelling and heckling, then he’d basically say “See, you’re proving my point–conservatives govern through emotion not reason.” In truth, you’re right–people will react emotionally to proactive, politically incorrect, or insulting statements regardless of their political affiliation.

“I’m not really convinced that he put that much thought into it, but what do I know. I try to avoid politics like the fucking plague, the only reason I’m even interested in this is because Spoony posted it. ”

Well, obviously, he speaking off the cuff, but consider this–WARRIOR was a professional wrestler, a form of entertainment. And just like other entertainer, a professional wrestler says and doing things which would elicit cheers and boos depending upon whether he was supposed to be a “face” or a “heel.” So just because what he says may not sound like he put much thought into it, doesn’t necessarily mean he isn’t deliberately trying provoke the audience and not aware that he’s doing so. On that level, he may know exactly what he is doing.

BTW, I completely sympathize with you wanting to avoid politics since, ironically enough, it has become a bit too much like professional wrestling.

Does that mean you’ll be paying all my bills and buying all my food from now on? No? Well why not? Why should I have to provide for myself? I thought that was egoistic and outdated bullshit?

I’m afraid I’m only one person. I don’t have the resources to take care of everyone or direct their efforts to best results. Take it up with the government.

It collapsed because it was run by a fascist dictator. And the economy did implode recently in case you missed it.

Arguably the world is not ready to make a socialist state work, as evidenced by the numerous failed attempts. But what we have is people who think that the world will never change, and people who try to change the world. This is me trying. What are you doing?

When Spoony posted this, I knew it wasn’t going to end well. Of COURSE heated political debate would hit the Spoony experiment when he posted Warrior’s nut job ramblings on conservativism. But don’t worry, it’ll fizzle out. This is only one facet of Spoony’s new “war” against the Warrior, and we’ll be back to focusing on his bat shit crazy destrucity, Hoak Hogan.

p.s.: Being a Hulkamaniac, I was heartbroken when the Warrior took the Hulkster’s belt!!!! Anybody else???

Is it just me, or are there quite a few people who seem to associate fiscally conservative and personally responsible government policy with bigotry, racism, and ignorance because of a few bad apples?

    @Jenny:

The problem with this argument is something of a false dichotomy. Just because the government isn’t doing something via welfare or other programs doesn’t mean that individuals aren’t themselves capable of doing so. People will consistently donate a fixed percentage of their income to charitable causes. Considering how wasteful government programs tend to be, the amount of money returned to the economy would be more than enough money to buy a job for all those who can provide for themselves and charity for those who cannot.

The economy has nothing to do with the personality of the ruler, but its economic policy. The economy can do perfectly fine no matter who’s in charge so long as the economic policy allows it.

Our current economic crisis had more to do with the attempts of the Federal Reserve to control interest rates and boost the economy by artificially printing money. There were a few other things, but that was the main cause. There was too much spending and not enough investing/production.

What you need to change would be the basic aspects of human nature. We will always put ourselves slightly above those around us. The nice thing about a truly free market is that you would be forced to only increase your own wealth through voluntary exchange, thus increasing the wealth of others in the process. Here’s a pretty good video on the free market.
