A dark, bleak story about the ultimate triumph of evil over reason and decency!

Ferris Bueller doesn't exist! It's all in Sloan's head! Err.. Wait….

  • lastsigma

Thanks Insano, I've been waiting for this review.

    • Anonymous

I’d say: Lieutenant Spoony. Or Spoony’s brother. Who knows when Insano is around?

  • DeathsHead419

Wow. Oh, and was that music from Evil Genius I heard? April frist really does bring out the wierdness of people I suppose.

Fantastic review. I love the anti-hero take on Ferris, and how he basically is a selfish kid who ruins lives left and right. It's so easy, when watching this movie, to get behind Ferris… but he really is an ass and a prototypical '80s upper middle-class youth who got whatever he wanted.

Maybe that's why so many of us loved this movie, though; we wanted to be Ferris. We wanted to skip school, get the girl, be popular, and have our parents love us instead of our… sisters.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Brian-Jesse/27708921 Brian Jesse

Only bad part about this entry….. is we'll have to wait a whole year for the next installment.
Sadly, I universally agree with the good Doctor on this one… I always hated Ferris.

  • Strelnikov

Finally the contrarian view of Bueller's Disneyland fantasy of Chicago and how far a wealthy teenage criminal mastermind can push crap until it breaks…”Ferris Bueller's Day Off” is to high school as “Big Trouble in Little China” is to any Asian neighborhood; completely unbelievable.

That said, sound clips from the movie made for a great Ventrilo server harassment video by the Video Compiler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDCu4Jj3-xs

    Keep bending minds, Dr. Insano!

  • rosenrot234

i know its a april fools thing but i still went YAY like a idiot when Insano showed up. i love that guy

  • AvatarAintGreat

Must obey insano, I went home as commanded, what should i do now my master?

I love you Dr. Insano even with all your Bueller hate and all <3

  • http://www.facebook.com/Treima Jimi Alexander

    Bloody brilliant, Spoony-er, Dr. Insano!

  • Con_Fu

Matthew Broderick; evil? That explains why The Producers had “Spring Time for Hitler”! Yes, having mischievous fun while other toil away at math and SCIENCE is clearly no good, the world will be more mundane and safe in your hands Insano.

    SCIENCE!!!!

  • MindOfCrazyPerson222

A person who lies to get what he wants?

    Sounds like Dan Rizzo.

  • jewbagel

Dr. Insano reviewing?! Why can't every day be April Fools.

    SCIENCE!!

    I believe in Dr. Insano
    Renegade +99

    Seriously though that was awesome.

  • angelcarnivore

That was very brilliantly written. Great job, and Happy April Fool's Day!

(When ARE we going to see Nurse Scarlett? If you need a fund drive to spring for a vintage seventies' nurse uniform with hat, cape, and sensible white shoes- just ask!)

  • SignNinja

Well, now Insano has a full on theme song. All due to the wonder of April Fools Day! Ok anyhow, good review of a classic movie!

  • thatdoucheandrew

Excellent. A truly excellent video. It was great to see Insano have the spot light. I know most people love Bueller's Day Off but I've never really liked it too much. Even though this review was a April's Fools joke, Insano actually has the same feelings about the movie I have (well, I don't hate it, but it is very overrated. Though to be honest it has been awhile since I've seen). I've probably made some enemies by saying that.

  • casval0287

anyone else see the robot move in the background in one shot? great video but i was like..it was slowly turning its head to look at the doc and i was like..”was that on purpose?”

  • Princess Stabbity

Brilliant. I will forever bow down to the mastery that is Doctor Insano.

  • CalebTheTimeTraveler

I don't know weather I should revert to my days when this was my favorite movie and thought Beast Wars Ruined transformers forever, or should thank that I was able to have 10 minuets of enjoyment from spoony despite him not having to do so…
    I'll do both:
“Even if that was a joke it wasn't fucking funny. Oh and great show”

  • clancrusher

So is this Dr. Insano the original Earth one or is this one the one from Earth 984?

  • EvilBloodGnome

So Dr. Insano is so full of hate that he hates even the other members of Team Evil?

    Go-go Chaotic Evil!

And Neutral Evil can go stuff itself. Pick a side, dammit! D<

  • poetsandrebels

I was thinking while I saw this that while I do love every appearance of Dr. Insano, part of the charm about him is that he pops up out of nowhere (seriously, does he have a secret laboratory in your basement, or what?), being all evil and science-y. Him talking about a movie was entertaining but not quite what I'd expect from him. But then I heard that laughter at the end and I thought 'screw it.' That laugh just cracks me up! All in all, this was really fun watching, and it was nice to see the spotlight on our favorite evil mastermind for a change. All hail Insano!

    Happy April Fools!

  • flamingkillamajig

What struck me as retarded is when he gave that guy the overly-expensive car. He's lucky the random guy didn't just steal the damned thing.

This story is about an over-privledged spoiled partier and it's my over-privledged spoiled partier ex-roommate's favorite movie. Gee i wonder why.

Sure this is an april fool's review but i still feel there's a bit of truth in there. I have no idea why plenty of shows are about asshole children or other characters that cause trouble and yet kids fucking love it. Reminds me of when i joked about the movie title 'law abiding citizen'. Imagine how boring a law abiding citizen would be. I suppose the truth is that order and kindness is boring.

  • valereth

That was brilliant. Haha. Great april fools day joke

  • valereth

Haha. Great april fools day joke. I loved it

    Best. Review. EVAH!

As April Fools Day specials go, that was a good one. :)

Still, I'm sure there's an Earth-3 version of the Not-good doctor out there somewhere…

  • EatTheHumans

Cmon Doc we wanna see your room full of horrible genetic abominations from your attempts to make a woman. It would be both instructive, amusing (and for a certain segment of the fanbase) arousing!

On the subject of Ferris Bueller's day off I remember watching this a few years ago when I was layed up in hospital. And I didn't react to it, I didn't laugh I didn't hate It I literally had no reaction too it. It's not really good but it's not really horribly bad either. I think It's just one of those bland movies with the occasional little comic moment that people latch on too for some reason and will watch if there's nothing else on. I don't really know anybody who would jam it into the DVD player because they just have this terrible urge to watch it.
Come to think of it the only part of the movie I laughed at was Cameron's phone call to the principle while putting on this waspy upper class voice.

You can have Mia Sara Doc I've always had more appreciation for Jennifer Grey I love Chicks with concealed Hand Grenades and Ice Picks for noses (WOLVERINES!)

  • Poipoi

If Insano is hosting, which room is Spoony tied up & gagged in? lol

That was a funny take on a movie I like. BNormally I hate April first but at least I got something decent to start my day off with.

  • ragetreb

I assume Burton's head turning to the side was an accident, but goddamn that was terrifying.

  • stensson

love the Evil Genuis soundtrack in the background… very fitting:P

  • stensson

love the Evil Genius soundtrack in the background =)

  • Beardguy

Camera by the Nurse? Was Scarlett hiding behind the camera dressed up as a nurse?!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Clifford-Raymond/100000507796831 Clifford Raymond

I like this idea, would love to see some more Insano reviews, where he takes good movies and interprets them as bad, and vice versa. Good stuff Spoony, er, Dr. Insano.

  • http://twitter.com/DANfan69 Kaohe Alama-Francis

This is by far the greatest April Fools prank I have seen so far! I know the movie was supposed to be one of those “coming of age” stories, but if you look back on it, Ferris Bueller was a dick to people. To believe this show inspired many of a rip off such as Parker Lewis Can't Lose and the Zack Morris character in Saved By The Bell.

    More Insano reviews please Spoony!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cesar-Garcia/539760754 Cesar Garcia

Wow, I think this was intended to be taken as a joke… but the review is so absurdly accurate that, besides the fact Dr. Insano was hosting (which was great, BTW), it’s really hard to pin-point if the whole thing is actually just an elaborated joke or if those are your honest thoughts about the whole thing.

… Pretty fitting for an April’s Fools, I guess.

  • capthavic

Good review. And tbh I never liked that movie for pretty much all the reasons you described. I'm not against taking a day off but the guy really is an unlikeable dick who cares nothing about anyone else.

  • Duke of New York A#1

Ferris Bueller is a diabolical, abusive, sociopath. HAHAHAHAHAHA! That's fucking hilarious!

  • blackdeath7070

Awesome , A great way to start the day with Dr. Insano

    must obey Insano

  • taranaich

In terms of presenting something that's supposed to outrage and offend that instead manages to be awesome and true, this might be the biggest April Fool's backfire since “Transformers: Shattered Expectations.” I still can't tell if this is meant to be accurate or not. Frankly, I don't care, it was a hilarious review. I wouldn't mind Dr Insano reviews becoming a thing.

Also, even though I make a point on not judging people based on their private life, I find it really difficult to watch Jeffrey Jones in anything.

  • dennett316

Fantastic review…tongue in cheek or not I think it paints a vivid picture of just what an asshole the Bueller character actually is. More Insano reviews please, his verbiage is fantastic.

  • http://random-ninja-attack.blogspot.com/ Random Ninja 5

Sweetness. Great fake-out. Love the video. Nice April Fool’s review. I hope to see more insano reviews in da future. Stop Resisting!

  • Blargy

That was awesomely hilarious, great job!

Hmm… Sort of disappointed, here. It was a great review, as always, but… was I the only one expecting some HUGE April fools joke? Ya know what? If Spoony is doing what I think he’s doing, then barvo! The April Fools joke, is that there is no joke. Wait, what?

Snake! You’ve created a time paradox! SNAKE! SSSSSSSNNNNNNAAAAAKKKKKEEEEE!!!!

  • ScutigeraColeoptrata

Yeah, Ferris Bueller really is an immoral, horrible person who’s plans don’t even succeed by his own cunning, but rather by his abuse of the misplaced affection others have for him. It really does leave me feeling sick.

Now, Doctor Insano’s Day Off would be a film worth watching. SCIENCE!

  • hitfreezy

Usually I can’t stand Insano, but this was just awesome.

  • joeengland

Shit. Y'know, he's right… Ferris is a dick. Funny how I never gave it much thought. Testament to the director's skill, I guess. Though I always did feel some pity in the back of my mind for the principle and the sister. …And Cameron. And his parents. And maybe the school body. And even that restaurant jerk, a little. Come to think of it, wow. Why isn't he the villain?

  • Dorran844221

Great review, and you know what? You're right! He is a complete narcissistic sociopath with no regard for anyone else, and the one person trying to actually do his job is the guy who gets punished. Anyways, I really like that Dr. Insano is getting some exclusive camera time in a review rather than just being a character in skits. I hope we'll see more like this.

  • J_Alfred

    God, I love Oingo Boingo.

Anyways, Dr. Insano was right on! I've seen this movie! Why do people think it's so great? Ferris is an ass!

And I hope to see more Insano reviews. I think they're a nice diversion.

  • chaoguy

    7:07 = Burton?! Holy hell I think he's sentient

  • draxo

    Awesome.

You're getting better and better at the whole Dr. Insano thing! He rocks.

I can't believe I never really 'got' this as an 80's kid, but you're dead on!

  • Anonymous

Poor work due to one little error: This isn’t a movie- it’s a how-to guide :P Live by its wisdom and you too can be a diabolic manipulator and crusher of souls. If it helps, good Doctor, know that Ferris later went on to be trapped in a lamp by Cid, then promptly made the bitch of a group of . . . well, you know :p

    I love this holiday :D

  • MFlorian

That was pretty good! I'd like to see more Insano Reviews.

  • Salenstormwing

Damn, and I was so hoping Dr Insano would explain why wearing a bra on one's head is required to bring a doll to life.

Anyways, I look forward to more of The Insano Experiment, even if we'll probably only ever see more of it every April 1st.

  • Threque

Confirming what everyone already knew… Matthew Broderick has always played complete creeps.

  • robek

I second that with my whole nerdy heart. I love insanity in spoony reviews and dr Insano is the very essence of it

  • http://www.facebook.com/wizardofxenia Andrew Michael Brown

Ah yes, I've always perceived Ferris Bueller to be a walking tumour. I've never known any schoolkids to be like him, he seems more like an grotesque abstraction of the arrogance and selfishness of spoilt, popular schoolkids in general.

    Hilarious stuff!

  • shinea_iggy

THANK YOU! I'm not sure if this is your actual view of this movie Spoony, but i hope so, because I hate this movie! Its weird, but not even in a good way, and teaches the youth that as long as you are clever and charming and have a rich mom and dad, you can screw school and live the good life…BULLCRAP! Normally I do like Matthew Broderick, but I hate this movie, which is funny because most people consider this his best performance…The Producer's…now THAT was his best performance!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/nordberggi Olli Nordling

An ok review although I am not into the Insano character. Just because you invent something a little bit twisted and annoingly noisy doesn't mean that you have to over use the joke. Insano is a decent character but just too annoying to support an entire review. Just be yourself Noah, things you say as Spoony are much funnier, deep and more informative than this Insano crap.

    • Anonymous

I wholeheartedly disagree. While I love Spoony and his normal review format, I also am quite fond of the Insano character and was quite amused by this review. Excellent video Dr. Insano, my good sir!

This is almost like the Confused Matthew review of Minority Report. Except this is funny instead of just depressing.

  • robek

Can we expect a commentary on that Spoony? that would be awsome! WHO'S WITH ME?!

  • TheAvernite

As it is April 1, I'm sure this is a “fake” review and yet this is exactly why I don't like this movie. Still, very amusing video. Just out of curiosity, who was the cop beating you up? My bets on your brother, and if I'm right, did he have fun doing it? lol

  • http://www.facebook.com/Flashburn117 Austin Wombo Combo Chin

Wait… Is Spoony/Insano back in his old house for this review? Or is it just a part of a room in his new house that just is set up the same way?

I have to agree that I'm not sure how to take this April fools joke. I've seen the film once and absolutely hated it. I didn't mind the pointless references to camera (well not much) nor did I really mind the acting. It was the whole idea that Ferris was such an awesome well liked guy that he didn't have to do anything and could just coast through life without a two brain cells to rub together. It was just plain irritating

As always I almost died laughing at Insaino's plight. I seriously worry what happens if and when he finally drops the idea of building a woman, marries Burton and gets his priorities straightened out.

    Thomas

  • Cthulhu07

Don't you know that Dr. Insano graduated from the Christopher Walken school of acting. He doesn't need to learn his lines. He can say whatever the heck he feels like… :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucek-Chuck/100000576199993 Lucek Chuck

In my mind Ben Stine represents everything lazy uneducated and wrong with the world. Let's remember Expelled No Intelligence Allowed. A “documentary” with less facts then the fox moon landing hoax “documentary”.

  • entenfett

One of the few “gimmicky” reviews that i really enjoyed. Good stuff :)

  • Kevin_Holsinger

Good morning Spoony and fellow Spooners.

I see Spoony actually decided to try the guest-host thing, albeit for April Fools' Day. It worked out nicely. I wonder which other character could do good reviews. Ultimate Warrior is a great character, but would probably not work for more than a couple of seconds. On the other hand, having Terl act as some kind of acting critic could work.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Scott-Arsenault/704057099 Scott Arsenault

I seem to be the minority here, but I still think I'd enjoy watching this movie (although it's been awhile since I've seen it). Sure Ferris is selfish, over privilaged, manipulative, etc etc etc., and all this under the guise of wanting to help Camron, but really the want of such freedom is something that gets lost in adult life. It's escapism where we can get wrapped up in a world where parents make six figure salaries and the excess of mid-80s culture for one day, to just have time to enjoy yourself. And really with all the ludicrous extents the movie goes to (particularlly the extent of the Save Ferris campaign and yet no one realises it's a hoax), is it really something ment to be that heavily analysed on the angle of deservability?

And if we're basing this solely on personality alone, Raistlin was a craven douche and yet everyone loves him

All in all, still an awsome video

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nick-Ventura/548493407 Nick Ventura

Loved that one spoony or should i say Insano

  • ScutigeraColeoptrata

The good Doctor really hit this one on the head; for a story that is supposed to be about a kid maturing, the protagonist Ferris Bueller shows absolutely no signs of being a responsible adult, and is entirely content to have all of society continue to spoon feed him simply because he was born into privilege. On top of that, he isn't even terribly intelligent and his plans only succeed due to the misplaced affections others have for him. I know the idea is that everyone is somehow 'made better' by the interventions of this messianic spoiled brat, but I just don't buy it. I prefer stories where people answer for their crimes, but that's just me.

I still want to Doctor Insano's Day Off though. SCIENCE!

  • RaisedBySnakes

I actually genuinely don't like this movie.

You're close. The Emulator II cost about $8000 at launch in 1984.

  • http://www.facebook.com/PandaChum28 Joseph Paul Perkins

Nice April Fool's Day joke. Maybe you should have more Insano reviews.

  • http://twitter.com/XunralHelps Ben Wolpoff

I personally subscribe to the theory that Ferris is a figment of Cameron's imagination. He represents the ridiculous extreme of what Cameron is incapable of being, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Ferris is socially daring, extremely popular, dates the girl Cameron likes, and has everything Cameron wants. He could be purely fictitious, or he could represent his exaggerated view of a kid at school he admires. It's one of those cases where the alternative interpretation of the movie actually make the movie much better.

  • melissia

And yet, I like the Insano character. He's not “crap”, he's just kinda fun, and quite a few lines in this review just fit Insano better than they ever would Spoony.

  • melissia

    Agreed! needs moar insano!

  • melissia

    Yay Insano!

Mad Scientsits are so damn awesome.

  • coyoterys

I live in Chicago and let me say, Fuck calling it the “Willis” Tower. Sears Tower 4 Life, yo!

  • deserteagle

“I personally subscribe to the theory that Ferris is a figment of Cameron's imagination. ….. It's one of those cases where the alternative interpretation of the movie actually make the movie much better.”

You are point-blank wrong in this case. The story makes absolutely no sense if you believe this in the slightest. An alternate interpetation cannot cherry pick the parts you like in order for it to make sense. This theory could only work ONLY IF Cameron was the centeral character throughout the movie and all the subplots revolve around him. It does not, and they do not. So there goes your argument.

  • deserteagle

I agree with Dr. Insano; this movie always left a bad moral taste in my mouth. But it did make a decent comedy.

Nice review, Spoony! This was hilarious.

  • Foweraker

Is it worring that I agree wholeheartedly with Insano on this one? This film is MESSED UP.

  • rustedramblings

My money says that Spoony actually likes this movie. It's got that late 80's vibe that seems to mesh with his liking so well. And I'm sorry, but you people take this movie too seriously. Insano's cuts against the character and the movie are a satirical plot device of this review–if you seriously are upset with Ferris for being the whimsical, care-free youth that he is, than you've clearly missed the point. We may as well be upset at Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, Bart Simpson, Zack Morris and an endless slew of other classically iconic rascals. This is a comedic film intended for young America in the late 80's…and if you saw it in the late 80's as a kid, then you undoubtedly developed a lifelong relationship with it. It was that “too cool for school” mentality that we all adored at that age, and this was perfect. But saying that this film endorses exploiting favorable life circumstance over responsibilty (which several programs of the time, such as Silver Spoons and Saved by the Bell did), is a complete leap of logic. That's the same association we all criticize when someone blames a kid jumping off a roof on the movie Spiderman. This is supposed to be fun, and it is. We all want to be Ferris while we're growing up, whether you admit it now or not. That's the point, and that is why this movie is so beloved. There's no moral lesson to be learned here; and if you're honestly looking for moral lessons from a John Hughes flick, then I suggest you rethink your sources for ethical conduct.

I do, however, like the idea of an alternative interpretation where Ferris is a figment of Cameron's imagination. I've never heard that until now. Obviously not what Hughes intended, but since we own the movie now, I think it's an interesting take.

  • rustedramblings

Simmer down, man! Ha. It's an alternate interpretation intended merely for the purpose of fun. He wasn't saying that was the TRUE meaning of the movie, that we've all been missing. It's just an interesting way to view the movie in another light. The psychology of it brings on a whole different perspective to the art that the director obviously never intended. Art is all about interpretation after all.

  • tamlin

You know, this movie is funny and all, but Dr. Insano actually does make a good pont; Ferris is a textbook sociopath.

  • They Call Me The Fizz

Way to tease us with the idea of an Insano review of the Twilight Saga

I'm suprised you didn't address the “Ferris is Cameron's Tyler Durden” perspective on this movie which gives “Squall's Dead” a run for its money in terms of crazy fan speculation

  • banedon

I love this film and Spoony's (Dr Insano's) review. It seemed to me when I first saw it (about 20+ years ago) that everything on TV was about doing the right thing and nice endings, etc. So this film was a breath of fresh air and a very good laugh (but not to be taken seriously!).

Anyhoo: I first saw this actually in school – a teacher put it for the class to keep us occupied for a lesson as there'd been some illness amongst the staff – talk about self sabotage! :D

  • chrisswanson

So, yeah. I'm sure this is meant as an April Fool's thing, but, man, I've always disliked this movie. Over the last few years I've started to actually loathe the hell out of it, and for exactly the reasons mentioned here. It's just not a good film, and I'm baffled as to why it was so popular back in the day.

On an ironic note, I remember once seeing the movie while at school. Yep, they actually showed it to us. Fun times.

  • latexpoultry

There appears to be an April Fool's poll with the Spoony One facing Linkara in epic battle. And weirdly its on a Final Fantasy wiki of all things.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ObieWanCoyote Christopher Lash

Possibly one of Spoony's best reviews. I don't know why but I do like Dr Insano, maybe it's just me rooting for the underdog though.

  • anonns

Good point…I think its one in every 10 million that actually live the so-called 'American Dream'…let me try and find that 1920's travel brochure…no wait my family used it to heat their hut during the 30's depression and every thanksgiving meal during that decade…conveniently a deranged nazi fuck was put into power to jump start the global economy again

… lol sorry got side tracked…what were we talkin about again

hey. anyone remembers Wired Science the series?

    -you make man?

lol -I loved the idea of insano doing the review. You should have him do others for movies with like Street Fighter where he can discuse the merits and flaws of other would be world conquerers :P Anyhoo, loved this one! keep em coming spoony

Oh man, this is the funniest thing I've seen today, and that includes ThinkGeek's April Fool “Canned Unicorn Meat” gag.
It's so rare to see anyone take a stab at this movie. I remember loving it back in high school (it was shown on nearly every long-distance bus trip), but the more I thought about it the more I realized how much of a sociopath Ferris was. The only other notable critic I've heard trash the movie was Yahtzee, and even that was a throw-away comment in a podcast. Great work all around, hope doing the Insano voice the whole time didn't kill your throat.

Gonna have to agree with the good doc…

My lorrrrrd… I was laughing my ass off at the “tap that ass” comment in the Dr. Insano voice.

I love april fools reviews. I just wish to point out that missing 9 days of school is no big deal. I missed half a semester in grade 10 and still passed classes. Also, the principle was breaking and entering. THAT is illegal lol.

All in all, the cost to Ferris that day was probably close to 500 dollars btw. That amuses me.

  • salamando

You know, I realize its an April Fool's review, but to be perfectly honest… this is exactly how I actually felt about this movie.

  • thequietkid10

and now a reenactment of my thought process.

Hm, April Fools Day, Spoonyone, and Ferris Bueller's Day off. This should be awesome, I wonder how this is going to work……

wait what's this….DR. INSANO, excuse me while I mark the fuck out.

  • http://www.gamespot.com/users/cornbredx CornBRED-X

This is a funny video. Best part is the people that agree with Dr Insano… altho I will say it makes a stramge amount of sense when you take the movie out of context. =P

    No, seriously though, funny video.

  • Zaver

Loved the review, but here's the thing about odometers. I thought the same thing too, but it turns out in older cars the odometer would actually roll back if you put it in reverse. Of course nowadays with the electronic ones they detect both forward and reverse so you can't do this.

  • radarkat

Yes Insano, evil will always triumph because good is dumb!

  • Booze Zombie

That's the strange thing for me, too… this movie does feel like the celebration of a complete jerkwad who manipultes people like some kind of evil puppetmaster.

Though, that's probably because Cameron is the character I can relate to that I'd think that…
I mean in personallity, by the way, not in life situation.

  • taiyouson

My God am I the only one who actually has the same opinions as Dr. Insano with this movie? I realize that this is an April Fools day review, but still!
Throughout my teenage years I've heard about this movie and how good it was from adults, but when I actually saw it in a college class… well, pretty much everything Dr. Insano said.
I mean, I really loved the jokes and everything, but what really ticked me off was Ferris himself! I literally wanted to grab the DVD out of the player when Ferris got away with it, snap it in half and throw the pieces across the room yelling “FUCK YOU, FERRIS!!!” My God!
Maybe if Ferris actually got caught at the end or (even better) turned himself in and said that he was sorry, THEN I would've loved this movie. BUT NOOOOOOOOooooooo.
ugh… well, happy April Fool's day everybody… Um… no, I don't mean April Fool's to my opinion, I just mean have a happy April Fool's day.

  • Strelnikov

It makes a load of sense; Ferris is just too perfect and he gets away with it. Cameron, on the other hand, is weighed down by his father and probably a little loopy from the cold medicine, so he decides to finally push his luck, steal the Ferrari and have a good time. It ends badly for him, but at least he can face his problems at the end of the film (we think.) Ferris Bueller floats in from Imaginationland and right back once he is no longer needed. The only question in this take of the story is: Does the girl exist too, or is she some projection of Cameron's mind?

  • joanim

    Fucking amazing haha! :D

  • Ashenge

I enjoyed that alot more than last april fool's.

  • 狐・小百合

You should have more reviews with Dr. Insano in them just to piss of the people who don't like Dr. Insano.

  • mrwednesdaynight

Very well done. I hate to being Douche McNitpick but I am going to be anyway. And I do appreciate all the hard work that goes into these reviews. One, the cop wasn't credited at the end. I realize it was probably Miles and 95% of your fans would know that but still, I've become accustom to your detailed crediting. Two, in this bizarre alternate reality where Doctor Insano reviews movies, I would expect him to do it from his science lab. I can accept that he would sit in a chair in a nondescript room but what I can't accept is that he would have a poster of Highlander. Doctor Insano just doesn't strike me as a Highlander fan. However, if you would like to make a video where Doctor Insano explains his love for all things Highlander, I'd love to see it.
Thank you for the work you put into these videos. I enjoy them a lot.

What all decent people think. I really like the film as a whole but everytime Ferris jumps on that goddamn float I’m hoping and praying Sloane will turn round, realise he’s a douche and run off with Cameron. Then again John Hughes does have wierd ideas of what constitutes ‘happy ending’. Who can forget Breakfast Club when the goth is ‘normalised’ and the geek gets no girl and writes all of their papers!

OBEY INSANO is a clever anagram for IN NO BOA, YES

  • filmguy450

Excellent and very funny! I am a little surprised that you didn't bring up the whole “Cameron created Ferris and the entire day in his fevered delusional state” idea that's been running around the internet for a bit, and actual makes the movie far less despicable.

Cameron is so easy to go with, because well, it's all in his head, and that's why Ferris doesn't get caught or anything like that. There's more to it, and it's pretty interesting. If I can remember/ refind the site I read that on, I shall definitely post a link.

I love Doctor Insano and I hate Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I'm glad the good Doctor agrees with me. This movie annoyed me so much, I wanted to punch that smug fuck Bueller in the face. I never understood why people liked this movie so much. Also the Doctor need to host more shows himself.

  • rattrap007

Excellent video. So right on the money. As a teen you agree with Ferris. Once you are older you see him for the prick he is.

I did expect a second cop to come out, tap the first on the should and tell him he is in his spot, then both proceed to beat Insano..

I commently agree with Dr. Insano. No idea if this was some kind of April Fools 'prank' to like discredit a cult film to try anf rile fans up, but it's completely true. Ferris was a selfish git really and all I could think as I watched the movie was “My god, I hope he gets caught”. But of course the story never ends that way..

Maybe my opinion of the movie is like this because I never watched it until I was 22, so I'd grew up became an honest person who appreciates the hard work people do and then saw Ferris Bueller.. Yeah he wasn't winning any popularity contests with me. I despise everything that character spoke for. You could tell that he would grow up to be some successful prick with a great (easy) job, living in a huge mansion with a gorgeous wife and still living like a selfish kid.

Any adult who can still watch this movie and love the character is obviously a very selfish person too.

  • JeanJacket

I've been hoping to see an Insano review since FOREVER. :D This was awesome.

I haven't seen the movie in a while… I'll have to rewatch it. The evil must've gone over my head when I was younger, but Ferris certainly seems like a dick.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dippizuka Alex Walker

Is it just me Spoony, or are you still looking off camera towards the end there?

I can't see your eyes but the way your chin turns slightly is a bit of a giveaway I think.

  • simoneer

I like the movie, but this is very nice. :]

  • DeathsHead419

Wow, I didn't expect so many other positive comments. But I'd vote Ahy to continue the Insano Expariment as well. As with most good humor, this review contains a lot of truth; and it's deliciously ironic coming from Insano, a mad scientist bent on taking over thee world, criticising a young man's greed and douchbaggery.

One note, it should have been his son, not Burton; since Burton is Spoony's side kick. Other than that, excelent.

  • DuckieTheHibee

I can't help you understand the movie a little better. Ferris Bueller does not exist. Cameron has created him. Ferris is everything that Cameron is not. He's popular, suave, can get away with anything and is dating a girl we can only assume Cameron can never get. See, the adventure never really happens. It is all Cameron's imagination. Camerion is still in bed, he never leaves the bed. The stealing of his fathers expensive father is what he would like to do, but doesn't have the courage.
Cameron's parents are clearly more intersted in other things, e.g his car. He creates Ferris' parents as loving caring parents to make up for the loving ones he lacks.

Also, Pretty in Pink was the greatest John Hughes movie.

  • jessicaraven

    • http://www.facebook.com/Falanca Neşet Sopacı

I like this review because it’s the only review I found that actually treats the movie like it should’ve been treated, April Fool’s gag or not. But some stuff I hate passionately were left out; I guess they wouldn’t sound as “sarcastic” enough for Spoony, for, you know, this movie is an award deserving cult… Peh.

  • dudetheman

You're comparing murderers, thieves, rapists and just general scum to a kid who wants to take a day off school.. Not exactly a fair comparison. Not to mention kids want to act out and break the rules. Most adults don't aspire to be homicidal crazies. Or at least I don't..

  • dudetheman

Was one of your most entertaining reviews! I wouldn't mind seeing more 80's movie parody reviews. Or hell even serious ones. The majority of my favorite movies come from the 80's whether it's the cheesy buddy cop movies or the great sci-fi/horror flicks. I guess in general more of the same is the point i'm trying to stab home here.

  • Thammuz

Ironically enough, that's what i actually thought of Ferris when i saw the movie. Granted i do skip school quite often, but i never lied to my parents about it, and seeing how much they trust him he really comes out as a major league dick for that…

Very good review, Spoony, thumbs up for Insano!
It also should be noted that I really loved the stinger, which reminded me of the old days where my favorite German tv show “Loewenzahn” (ger. for dandelion), which is about ecology btw, was ended in a similiar fashion by the host Peter Lustig. Good times…

  • MissAshley

    Thank you!

I wish I'd caught this earlier. Despite being an entertaining movie, I simply cannot stand Ferris as a character. I always had far more sympathy for poor Cameron, who I hoped wound up with Sloane years later. Just the same, I couldn't stand Zach in Saved By the Bell.

What was it with our generation and over-privileged, selfish, manipulative youths?

  • SisyphusFalls

Must obey Insano… must commit justified acts of evil…

Very refreshing review. Ferris is a spoiled brat and poor Jeffrey Jones just gets his butt kicked for doing his job. *tsk tsk*

  • peteman

Of course, I'd like to point out Insano is a criminal who flat out stated he's killed thousands with an army of robot suicide squirrels, so it's not like a policeman wouldn't try to beat him into submission.

    *prepares to be flamed*

*takes a deep breath* I actually didn’t like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. At all. I was bored by it, the jokes fell flat, and I was more annoyed by the jackassery of Ferris’s character than I was entertained by the film. One of my friends lent me the DVD and I turned it off halfway through. I hated how stupid the adults were, particularly Ferris’s parents, and I ESPECIALLY hated the fact that the WHOLE ENTIRE SCHOOL thought Ferris was dying. He lies, cheats, mooches, and does God-knows-what else.

This movie just gets on my nerves.

I completly agree. What kind of message is this movie trying to send? That making your friends think your dying, lying to your parents, getting your teacher into trouble, destroying your best friends car and not helping him in any way afterwards is all ok as long as you don’t get caught!

No thats not ok. This kid is taking advantage of people and doesn’t care how much he hurts them just so he can have fun. He’s charming and charismatic sure but he’s also selfish and totally self serving. Meanwhile the man just trying to do his job and bring Ferris to school were he should be is made the butt monkey, abused and misused the entire film, but ‘he’s supposed to be the antagonist!?

No Ferris is. He’s the bad guy, end of story.

The only thing less than perfect about this review is it’s the only one operated by Insano. Something about the guy is endearing…he’s a hell of an honest villain. Fact is I can’t even think of him as one, and he’s damn sure the first “villain” who’s opinion I actually ENJOY, in lieu of every bloated ego dumb ass with a monologue modern day fiction rehashes and calls the bad guy.

I’d LOVE more reviews like this. Full character the whole time.

Yeah, you totally have me siding with the villain in this movie. Ferris Bueller needs a kick in the nutsack. lol

Insano really hits the nail on the head
Even when I was much younger I was never really impressed by the ‘kids beat adults’ genre – there’s nothing gained – it’s just pointless. It was the final straw when they turned Thunderbirds into one…

Having Khan react to Cameron’s outrage was so beautiful… I laughed until I thought I was gonna throw up. I bow to you!

  • spookydonkey03

i’ve always had a thing against this movie, for the exact reason mentioned in the caption. evil triumphing over decency and reason. if it wasn’t for the raw beauty of the female lead, i’d have no pleasant memory of this flick. so to you i say, well said sir!

I would create an interactive virtual reality simulator that can put you into an AI run, interactive reality version of any movie you chose, if only for a chance to kill this kid. Not only is he one of the most vile human beings I’ve ever seen, but he also gives all evildoers a bad name.

That said, I love the review, and always enjoy watching Insano’s work. I especially like the bit at the end where you make fun of people who stay until the end of videos. Dr. Insano is truly an inspiration to us all. ^^

SCREW YOU!!! This is a great movie because of its clever dialogue and jokes. Why do you hate this movie!!! WHY!!!!!!

    • Matt Browning

Dude, it’s an april fool’s joke. He doesn’t. Go watch the commentary.

    • r3verend

Its one of his most favourite movies actually.

“This is where Cameron’s soul snaps like a Twix bar.”

    I love that line. XD

  • Senna4ever

This is a good “fun” film.
But I have to admit that many great points are brought up here.
Ferris is a selfish, self centered arse. He is a horrible character.

  • http://twitter.com/MichaelJGleason Michael G

Is it bad that I am watching this and taking it seriously? I know that it has to be a joke because it was posted on 4/1/2010, but I find this an accurate review of that movie.

    • http://twitter.com/LuluOMalley Lulu O’Malley

I’ve noticed the older I get, the more I agree that Ferris is a spoiled little douchebag and Ed Rooney is just trying to do his job…

      • http://twitter.com/PenHellbourne Tim Edgren

I fully agree, it’s amazing what you realize when you’re older.

      • http://twitter.com/StochasticOoze Jason

Enh. While Ferris IS a spoiled douchebag, Rooney has no business going out looking for him; and he completely loses any sympathy from me once he resorts to breaking into the Buellers’ home.

His mistake was in letting this become personal. Just write the kid off as a screw-up who’ll be flipping burgers for the rest of his life.

        • illidan4ever

But that’s just it, he’s a cheating screw up with rich parents who will get away with it.

  • http://twitter.com/NostalgicN Nostalgic Ninetails

Spoony, I mean, Dr. Insano…you’re a genius here! Even with this being an April Fool’s joke, it’s so spot on! Don’t get me wrong, I love this movie, but how perfectly you were able to pull it apart and find the flaws that I never even considered…it’s amazing! You’re brilliant!

Insano needs to review more stuff

  • illidan4ever

I always hated the ending. You can have your fun and games, but to the extent he goes–he seriously needs to pay for it.
