It’s time to rediscover the old BBC show Knightmare as The Spoony One braves the deadly Dungeons of Deceit. Whether you’ve seen it or not, we’re in for a wild ride.
WOW!!!, I’d have never expected Spoony One to review Knightmare. I loved this show as a kid so I really enjoyed this review.
My only problem with the review was that Spoony One never covered the entire series
Great stuff spoony, hit the nail on the head with this review, just to set the recored straight though this was originally broadcast on ITV not the BBC, keep up the good work
Awesome!! By typing “xyzzy” at the appropriate time, the player could move instantly between two otherwise distant points.
oh man that turning right joke was the shit.
What am i thinking. this whole video was the shit.
I ment that in a good way. ^.^;
I’ve watched this many times and O S D R H U never fails to make me laugh.
HAHAHA! Silly kids. I’d never seen this show before, but it looks like it was a hoot.
This was the one thing guaranteed to scare the shit out of me as a kid. I loved it!
Still lolling at “SHRUD”.
Wow… those kids are really a bunch of fucktards… Seems they skipped school.. How in god’s name could someone be so iliterate, for the love of god?
Never even knew this show existed, but i’m damn glad.. otherwise i’d have gotten some quite frustrating times out of watching those idiotic kids fucking up even the spelling part. What can I say… Wow…
absolutley hilarious… my only complaint is that you didnt show the infamous “simon, sidestep to your left” scene. youtube it people, its worth it.
I think he did show part of it, but it was in a montage with other scenes of kids dying. You see him falling off the left with the blue blocks flying around.
Treguard is the old dude out of Yor’s World!
“Play a while… Play forever!”
Wow, that’s almost straight out of Impossible Mission!
Yeah, both Smeagol and Deagol were Stoor Hobbits. Therefore, Bilbo was the wrong answer. I also seem to remember Gimli mentioning that female dwarfs have beards. How in the world are these kids supposed to get these questions right when the show has the wrong answer?
That guy that is suposed to be the realm master , remenids me of Sheogoreth from The Elder Scroll IV The Shivering Isles , he was the realm master too , and the god of madnes
Do I hear LoZ music in the background?
lmao would have been funny to see a clockwise clip at the right left bit
Lol, I’m 21, but I do remember this….barely! As soon as I seen the kid with the helmet and sword, it just clicked! Nice one Noah!!
that is very hilarious and i gotta say treguard throwing that o out there, now that was hilarious.
apology accepted Spoony :P awesome vid
Great review Spoony, but just a little thing – Knightmare was an ITV show, not BBC.
I remember seeing this show when I was a kid on vacation in Canada. I was amazed by the min blowing special effects HAHA. I totally forgot about it until i saw you talk about it on Youtube. Thanks for jogging my memory. Ooooooh Nasty!
This show was one of the best parts of my childhood. I sooooo wanted to take part in this show.
I know I would have done better than most of the other kids on the show.
“Spellcasting: D.I.S.M.I.S.S.” Classic.
Funny, I remember a show like that(quite probably the same exact show) that ran over here(Puerto Rico) under the name “Reto Sega”(The Sega Challenge). I’ve been unable to get any info on that so this kinda is my first clue in years!
Just saw this but by god how dare they say female dwarves don’t have beards by the stubble on their face they do.
Quoting xyzzy? .. that reference to so many things …. to move between two distant points, ”nothing happens”, …. good one :D
Who is the woman who plays the Elf maiden?
I must say the actors in this show were very professional, i would’ve burst my lungs laughing at most of the moronic burkes in participation, btw that guy who played mordred also portrayed a character in the Jeeves and wooster series, the man is a bloody brilliant actor.
Spoony, you now know one more guy who will debate that female dwarves have beards.
If you want to do a bit of research and commend the actors, there’s a list of all characters and such on Wikipedia:
I loved this show, I think I still have some tapes of this show recorded from my childhood in the attic. Definitely one of the more innovative shows.
Wait a minute, what was that clip of the kid getting whacked by the sheet of glass from?
Not only Gimli, I think I’ve also read about female dwarve facial fuss in Dragonlance and Drizzt’s series.
And I have an edition of lord of the rings with a prelude from the hobbit. Between that and the book itself (which I haven’t even read entirely), I’m certain Bilbo’s not the answer. I didn’t realize it was Deagol though, so how would these kids.
And yes, there’s Zelda music and the mos eisley cantina from Star Wars, as well as the epic music which also appears in the WARRIOR review (which I hope Spoony can tell us the name of).
OH GOD IT’S RICHARD GARRIOT
If the team managed to complete all three levels and master the dungeon, they were awarded with a prize, which changed over the years from the “Silver Spurs of Squiredom”, to medallions, to “Frightknight” trophies (a design of a Knight holding a sword).
In its eight-year history, only eight teams managed to successfully conquer the dungeon: two in Series 2, one each in Series 4-6, two in Series 7, and a final one in Series 8.
aaah cool, i didnt think you would have gotten that over there in the states, but then again when this first came out it was lik :O its like a real life game.
Wasn’t it on ITV rather than BBC?
Looks like they’re trying to get it released on DVD on http://www.knightmare.com
Awesome game. I loved this as a kid. Treguard was my hero.
Spoony’s British accent sounds very much like Richard O Brien lol
@Meshi, that clip was from the movie Final Destination 2.
ace this series
I love the Spoony One. Comedy gold always awaits, but this one is especially great.
Doesn’t hurt that he used Building The Death Coaster from Army of Darkness near the start. Awesome.
Good review spoony but was that the Legend of Zelda theme being played in the background?
I grew up with this (yus, I am British!) :D At the Hobbit question, even I did a WTF at the answer. I knew it was Deagol but the show had the wrong answer. Anyway, this show almost single-handedly turned me into a massive fantasy geek and was part of my progression to D&D later on.
Oh and about female dwarfs… Yeah, I debated this too :P
There is something wrong with our country’s quiz shows. I remember when SMTV Live did a quiz and asked “What is the hottest planet in the solar-system?”
A kid answered Venus and they said it was wrong as it was Mercury.
Spoony, check out ebay for the complete Knightmare on DVD-R. You only reviewed seasons 1-4. In the UK theres another 4 seasons taking the total to 8 runs. And they were better in all; more characters, better graphics and even a ‘boss’ of all the baddies called Lord Fear who sat in this kick ass mansion surrounded by evil ‘Frightknights’. Treguard even became a sugar daddy to a ‘elf’ called Pickle and then a genie called Majida.
I can remember many a Friday afternoon watching this on ITV in the early 90′s. Shame they axed it in 1994 even though the producers were after kids for a 9th season!
Knightmare was the shit.
About that right joke, John Cleese actually starred as the main role in a movie based around that joke. It’s called “clockwise”, I highly recommend seeing it.
I watched this review after watching the review for you… As soon as Spoony says “Treguard is the man”, my mind immediately sang that out in the tune of the Yor theme. Huh…
Sorry, that should read “After watching the review for Yor”
I knew that brits spelled shit weird, but..JESUS!!
Wow. That show is hilarious! They should air the repeats on BBC America! lol Those kids on there are total morons! And lifeless to boot!! I wonder if this show is available on DVD.
Great review, Spoony!!
i’ve never even heard of this show, thanks for the heads up. maybe i can find some vids online.
I remember seing this, it was on every morning on the TV channel CHALLENGE every morning before i went to school, but that was like 5 years ago. luckily Takeshi’s castle is on every morning before i go to college =)
Loved knitmare when i was a kid thought it was so awaesome. It was an ITV show though, was never shown on BBC.
Treguard is pretty damn awesome. Good find Spoony.
This review always has me in stitches.
I also love how Spoony doesn’t realise the spelling fuck ups he mentions were made by the same team. That makes me chuckle harder with that thought.
There are some mistakes in what he says though. The kids were trying to spell “SPADE” and not “SHOVEL”, and in the early seasons it didnt really matter how you dispelled as long as the words of the spell were in the wrong order. But all that aside, I still agree with Spoony’s argument that these retards of children shouldn’t be fucking up stuff as simple as that.
But still it’s Akash’s group in season 2 where they actually answer Bulldozer to one of the riddles. BULLDOZERS WERE NEVER IN THE WORLD OF MYSTICISM AND FANTASY!!!
Gotta love Knightmare. :D
Oh and if you want a chuckle and rant I’d watch the french version of Knightmare which you can find on the Knightmare fansite. The riddles particularly fustrate me because some of them don’t really have any kind of fictional history or relevance to that time period like how many bones are in the body. Biology in a flipping fantasy game!??? I don’t think so.
The dungeon master’s way to helpful, unlike Tregaurd who gave the kids a nudge and a wink to the right direction if they were particularly stuck. Also, in that one even on the first room you don’t flip around. Just watch and see what I mean. None of the British oooooo look at the pretty card now find the door where you talk to the annoying jester in level 1.
It was a spinoff of the British version so you already know which is superior.
Not a BBC show but ITV, produced by Broadsword…before kids tv went moronic and dumb
Xyzzy? how do you pronounce that?
I’m sorry, does anyone know where the tune that plays when Spoony first starts narrating in the british accent… starting around where ‘those with courage, etc…’? he used it in the Warrior review as well. It’s the exceedingly epic music that really sets the mood and such…
it might just be me but i am hearing star wars cantina music in the background around minute ten i anyone also hears it please respond but im also using headphone so that might be why
y z z y x
I’m trying to watch this review but every time that little sign flashes up in the corner saying “‘Bruce’s Price is Right’ up next!” I find myself going “shit no!” and reaching for TV remote so I can change the channel.
oh the puss, the pain, the black voodoo, the wet jigsaw puzzle
Acutally, the answer “Muses” was pretty easy. Even, if you only remotely dealt with greek history, you would know that.
Seems, like the US-American school education isn’t up to par. ;-)
Replace all the rollins with trollins plox
“NOW…………” That’s all I can remember.
I actually grew up watching this in the UK at the time and hated every person on it for being either A) a Dumbass or B) The kid who is never going to have sex. EVER.
What always got me was as spoony said, what moron would go on this show and not have a gameplan!!??
I mean you would apply, you would watch the show (hopefully) and think, hey guys the last thirty teams died because they could not turn forty five degrees to the bloody left and hopefully learn a frigging lesson. Right? (yes I did try to get on it)
Anyway, great review as always. It’s refreshing to watch reviews that are well made, original and has not been done to death on youtube where everyone just stirs the same shit kettle until it boils.
there’s actually a show on austrian television called “drachenschatz” which pretty much seems like an “indirect” sequel to knightmare.
Am I the only one who knew that Greek mythology riddle? I answered it almost instantly.
I don´t get that “Granatoss” joke with his name.Lol?
Wikipedia has some links such as to offical fan sites who are clamoring for the show to be released on dvd. It even mentions attempts to do the show in other countries such as that pilots were even filmed so this could have come out in the states.
About the song in the beginning, I managed to find it thanks to Linkara putting it in one of his vids and crediting it in the end (thanks Linkara!). It’s Building The Deathcoaster by Joseph LoDuca from Army of Darkness soundtrack. To be specific it’s playing when Ash is creating his steam powered battle car.
Ah yes, another show from my childhood. One of the things that I remember the most was the last trap in the later series. It was the one where they are on a moving platform with buzzsaws heading towards them. I didn’t think that anyone would be able to pass it, however one team did manage it. How they did it I’ll never know.
in almost every pen&paper dwarf-females have beards!
I lived in Ireland during the time this was filmed and aired on the 4 channels they had over there.. ahhh ITV… Count Duckula… hehe, but I watched this as a kid and it was THE BIZOMB as the children say now. ;) I thought the kids were dumb then too, i wish i’d been on the show I would have totally won haha
xyzzy whats that spel
lol, given how some kids are I am surprised they didn't try to deliberately kill their teammates just for laughs. “Yeah, yeah, now walk left, don't worry about the giant saw blade, it's not anywhere near you.” OH NASTY.
Um…didnt he say this show was from Britian? So……what exactly would that have anything to do with the USA's school education being “not up to par”?
… I don't get the “grenatas” joke oO do you have to be brittish or american to understand that one?
Also WTF questions about lord of the rings?
Spoony wondered that how could any kid know what muses are. In Europe, Ancient Greece and Rome are basically third grade history. I can conclude that American schools don't teach Greek mythology in elementary schools.
Those kids were probably just fucking dumbasses, but I remember a similar question from my history test when I was 9 years old, and I remember getting it right.
The joke is Granite-arse
GranatosGranite AhsGranite Ass
I always wished I could be on this show as I kid, good review.
Love this except it wasn't BBC, it was ITV…
Epic spelling fail !
I was shown on BBC America in the US/ Canadas
I remember when me and my sister actually applied for the show but didn't know that it had long since been cancelled.Probably what ended up getting us to try d&d.
Pronounced “Zizzy”. Source: MC Frontalot – It is Pitch Dark
This looks awesome ^^. Would never have heard of it without you, S.
“He does what any sensible Lord of the Realm would do!He conjures up children from the future and sends them inside: unarmed and blindfolded!”
o…m…g…i wish i had that show growing up! someone please remake or reboot this show! i mean, think about it: imagine a show like that with todays technology! ratings would be through the roof!
Wow. I can't believe I'm saying this… but I'm hoping that kid suffered from dyslexia (as opposed to stupidity).
I remember one team had an awesome guy under the hat – usually the helmet dude would only ever parrot what he was told, but this one had a brain.
The table of three objects sometimes had gold, and you NEVER picked up the gold, because it was never useful. The one time this team ignored it, he had to bribe a troll to get past him. The helmet bearer basically talked the troll into taking a “magic” macguffin, but not using it until after he was past. That guy was awesome and I think they won.
Why isn't this a video game?
D-U-R-H-S… is a noise that you make when you can't spell SHROUD backwards.
Wow, I didn't know this was shown in America. Brings back fond memories for me, though. My dad worked on this show.
If your dad was Treguard, that would be awesome.
I think they purposefully picked idiot kids so it would be more tension filled and nerve wracking when their team is sending them the wrong way (or can't spell something backwards, WHEN THEY HAVE IT WRITTEN DOOOOWWN!)
Than the kids who won would feel special.
oh my… I wasn't around when this was on in the UK, but I used to get up at, like, half six in the morning to see the repeats on UKTV Gold, I loved it! Then UKTV Gold became merely G.O.L.D., and it stopped showing them :( this really made me laugh so hard, thanks a lot :D
It moved to Challenge for quite some time afterwards.
It did? Bugger. And now I suppose they don’t show it anywhere, aye?
Can’t say I’ve seen it on recently, but given all the repeats of Unbeatable Banzuke and Ninja Warrior Challenge shows, they’ll prolly stuff it back on again eventually, if the rights don’t get sold on to the next station.
A quick wiki indicates the rights have expired; no idea if Challenge plan on re-buying them or if anyone else has / intends to get hold of them.
*sigh* I can only hope, I guess
It’s back on Challenge now.
oh my… I wasn’t around when this was on in the UK, but I used to get up at, like, half six in the morning to see the repeats on UKTV Gold, I loved it! Then UKTV Gold became merely G.O.L.D., and it stopped showing them :( this really made me laugh so hard, thanks a lot :D
God, this brings back so many Friday after-school memories. Knightmare was awesome. I think everyone in my school applied to be on it at some point.
I think there were two computer games in all – released on the spectrum, atari st, amiga and a few other computers.
“Play awhile, play forever!”
Ripping off Impossible Mission… not cool.
Sorry, Spoony, but you’re the one that needs to read the book. Smeagol and Deagol are Stoors. Hobbits only come from Hobbiton, which didn’t even exist when Smeagol took the ring.
Wrong, Hobbiton was named after the Hobbits, not vice versa. They originally came from Anduin, and crossed the Misty Mountains to what would later be known as Buckland in the year 1050 of the Third Age. The Stoors, along with their more plentiful cousins the Harfoots, were both ethnic groups of Hobbit. Oh, and the Shire was founded nearly 1000 years before Smeagol claimed the One Ring, and Hobbiton is simply a small village in the larger Hobbit region (I would almost say nation, but it had no centralize government).
Wow, I know way too much about this stuff…I think I need to go outside for a bit.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………….. NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *throws pie at your face*
HelvecticaNeuieu Stoors are not a seperate race to Hobbits, it’s an ancestral Hobbit sir-name and Breed, there are Stoors in Hobbiton too. Try reading ‘The Hobbit Companion’ which includes lots of Tolkien’s own source-notes and jottings regarding the history of Hobbits as a race.
I might also mention that at no point in the LOTR or the Hobbit does it say that Smeagol is a Stoor, this is only assumed because he likes to swim and lives close to the River – a Stoorish trait. The Likelihood is that he is of an ancient creed closely related to the Stoors. Stoors are defined by being the second most numerous hobbit-breed, broader than most other hobbits and less shy of other races.
This guy here has his facts in order, well done sir.
I considered stopping the video the moment I heard the game show’s stance on female Dwarves’ facial hair. I thought it was a pretty damn good concept until that moment.
FUCK YOU, KNIGHTMARE!
I prefer female dwarves that don’t have beards. It’s less squicky to think of dwarf sex that way.
Not that I often think about dwarf sex.
Damn, that maid really is darn sexy
spoony! (face palm) that little lotr shit about the ring had me and my room mate arguing for an hour and ending up digging up our garage and looking for the exact part in the books where this was explained….and we’re still going at it
I really really wish they made a version of this you could play at home- like on the wii or something. My family and I have lots of fun with DVD board games.
Dude, your Scottish/British accent kicks A$$! (Also, the thing about Deagol was hilarious.)
Go watch Braveheart or something and realize your tomfoolery!
I’m sure it was mentioned millions of time, but the BBC didn’t do Knightmare. ITV did.
We’re Americans. To us, “BBC” just means “it showed in England.”
I remember that show when I was young. It was….cheesy.
yes itv did make it on citv
Treguard was the annoying guildmaster on fable 1 as well. Never did understand when he said “hero your mana is low, whats that?”
Nawh dude he was saying “Hero your will energy is low, WATCH that” he was warning you. Additionally the guildmaster was not annoying.
Zelda Theme? Awsome
Oh god, I remember watching Knightmare when it first was aired. What you probably don’t know is that there was a Knightmare game on Teletext (a television data retrieval system set up in the UK during 70′s, wiki it if your interested) which was basically a dungeon crawl game, with very poor graphics.
Remember the old C64 game Knightmare? There`s Something to review as a bonus.
And the ZX Spectrum, and the Amstrad CPC, to name but two others. I probably still have the spectrum tape of it, and I know I have several working Spectrums to play it on…
But yah, plenty of roms of it knocking about online, also check out the classic “How to be a complete bastard” game, that was awesome.
Actually, we british do say ‘right’ at the end of most sentences…
Not all of us, right?
You ruin the magic at 3:30. My brother in law LOVES this show. Whats with the zelda music? you have challange TV in the US? Even to me these kids sound steryotypically British! Is that the emporor on star wars at 11:30.”OH its got an O in it!”
I wonder how much computing power was involved in making all those effects run in real-time? It’s all a bit more involved than throwing up a map behind the weatherguy on the local news.
About £80,000 worth, in those days – lots more details here:
You know what would be cool? A Knightmare game for the Kinect. It’d have to be online play–the dungeon-crawler would be on one machine with his helpers watching him on their own X-Box…
“Hot Nights of Poker, Today at 10pm” Subliminar message for gambling… to kids!
For some reason i always crack up in laughter at the ‘end of your every sentence with the word ‘right’ segment’. Grat job Spoony, great job
I remember there was a show on Nickelodeon back in the day that was kinda like this but it revolved around video games. And the winning team at the end got to do like a green screen side scroller run through type thing. But yea they always picked the dumbest bastards to play the game.
You’re thinking of “Nick Arcade” ( or as I call it: “HOW THE F$%@ DO YOU FAIL AT GRADIUS THAT BADLY”).
Seriously, watching those kids back in the day used to piss me off. I was younger than than some of them, and yet when it came to the Video Game Challenge (a segment where they’d have to play an arcade game and get a certain number of points within a short time) I used to be driven batty. These dorks are the reason tutorials and easy modes were put into games. They sucked that badly.
They probably chose the stupidest fucking kids on the Isles just for comedic effect. Wouldn’t surprise me.
the background music sound like Pokemon…
1.) If they ever remake this, you should totally be involved somehow, you’d be awesome for the role.
2.) SOME Female Dwarves have beards, but it’s far more common to have equally plentiful and rich knuckle hair. =3=
Both male and female dwarves have enough body hair that the only reason Beards are notable is that it extends two feet from the face.
Has there ever been talk of … shaven dwarves? Or ones with some sort of disease which doesn’t produce body hair (or it produces it in tiny peachfuzz amounts)? I’d love to see what a fully shaven dwarf looks like. Like when people shave their cat – it always looks so strange…
Horray for the XYZZY spell! :D
YAY!!! Zelda-Music! =D
I too don’t know what it means, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to have my tomb raided. That is one hot elven maiden!
Just kidding. This show seems like it was allot of fun. Haven’t seen anything like it on tv.
Nice introduction btw
Good review, except for a few things:
1 – You didn’t have to spell out the word backwards to dispel magic; you just had to spell the word out in a different order to its correct spelling. It was established very early on in the first season.
2 – In the later seasons (4-8) kids really started getting into the swing of things in terms of Roleplaying. You can watch all the series on YouTube and trust me, it’s well worth it. Especially when they introduced Lord Fear.
God, this show scared the pants off of me back n the day. Also, wasn’t it shown on ITV and not the BBC?
Okay, who else wants to just recreate this ame just to see how well they would do?
Man they need to bring this show back in the US or UK (or both)! With how big LOTR and Harry Potter are, this would sell like hotcakes! And kids would be enthused today.
You know if you wanted to spoony you could review either each season or even each episode. Would definitely get some fantastic laughs out of that. Plus it would stretch the material more, anyhow I really enjoyed it :D.
I get the feeling that an episode-by-episode review/commentary would get fucking old and irritating at record speed. A “Worst of” collection? Sure. But… fuck (heh), it was bad enough sitting through these short clips exhibiting the depths of the kids’ stupidity. An entire SHOW? MULTIPLE SHOWS? Fuck no. It’s like a fucked up version of Double Dare with cooler tech.
Seems he only reviewed series 1 to 3 in this vid. The show changed significantly for series 4, and there were a few other changes later, so two more vids would be nice.
Granitas…nope. I don’t get it.
Like the word Gravitas.. its a pun :p
British Let’s Player who knows about this. Go to 4:00 minutes mark :)
That’s a great Alex from clockwork orange impression
Who is? Where you referring to my post or I missed something? :)
Haha best fake English accent ever!
That is a very good English accent. I loved Knightmare when I were a lass. However like a true nerd I feel duty bound to point out Knightmare was broadcast on the UK commercial station, ITV, not the BBC (who would never have touched this lowbrow RPG pagan shlock). The BBC realised how wrong they were 20 years later and responded with Raven, but it can’t hold a candle to Knightmare.
Americans think the ONLY TV channel in the UK is BBC.
Hey the BBC gave us Dr. Who and The Stephen Fry Interviews….with presentations like that, who cares what else is on?
I’d make a Code Geass reference, but most people here wouldn’t get it.
Spoony, PLEASE tell me that you DM using that voice. That would be AWESOME.
Oh man I bet this show destroyed more than a few friendships.
Sad part is that “shroud” kid is STILL sitting at home, trying to cure his dyslexia by spelling “dyslexia” backwards. But he keeps forgetting the positions of letters Z and Q.
Spoony was wrong.
You didn’t have to spell it backward, just spell it in a(ny) wrong order.
So the kids were actually getting there and did get it right at the end…as the clip clearly shows.
.. Yeah… Missed the forest for the continent on that one, or something.
They still forgot the “O” for way too long, and there’s no excuse for that when they have a pen and paper.
Like there is no excuse for saying the kids are stupid for not spelling the word backward when they didn’t have to. Then go on to point out they “misspelled” shroud backward, when they didn’t have to, but still keep the clip of the kids actually disspelling the magic proving the kids were right and did get there eventually.
I didn’t say anything about that numb nuts, I was saying that forgetting there’s a “O” in the word shroud when you have a pen and paper is retarded.
By the way, the kids are stupid.
You are correct. You only had to misspell the word. Although it seemed obvious to me at the time you had to spell the word backwards to remove its effects.
You are such a geek! I love you Spoony! :D
Your english accent’s shit
holy shit, it’s the first Dovahkiin!
Dorf chicks totally have beards. Sexy, sexy beards.
If only that guy had said that Balrogs have wings. Then the real shit storm would come.
Pingback: Sickle (aka The Slaughterhouse Massacre) Review | Gates Of Hell And Evil Dead
There was a show similar to this in the 90′s on Nickelodeon. It was known as Nick Arcade. You gathered points playing a SNES/Genesis game, answered questions, and the final part is some cool dungeon crawl-like thing where you fought a “boss” at the end.
Spoony, it should be ‘Apologies to the UK’, not ‘to Great Britain’. Why exclude Northern Ireland?
Knightmare reminds me of an even harder version of a Roguelike such as Nethack or Dwarf Fortress.
That play a while…play FOREVER AHAHAHAH remembered me of something- Wonder what it was http://www.mobygames.com/game/impossible-mission
Knightmare’s currently airing again in the UK on Challenge.
Trivia: The kid who said that dwaven women have beards, grew up to be Peter Jackson.
And, for at least one time in recent history, this guide would’ve had some use with this Geek Week revisit of Knightmare: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74r-EbIqt9s&feature=youtu.be
Ahahaah Furry Avatar. Why not just a sign “I WILL NEVER KISS A GIRL”
Don’t be a dick.
Well hes right. Nothing more virgin than Furry & My little Pony.
Is the reposting of the video on the main page supposed to be some sort of reminder for an upcoming, related VCR-game review (which I don’t see on the poll) or just a desperate attention grab?
Apparently there is a ” Knightmare reunion” and that’s why it’s on the
front page, though I am sure the note about it wasn’t under the video
when I posted. Weird.
The new intro of Knightmare sucks ass! Otherwise a very enjoyable episode.
It’s actually an intro from the later series, hardly new. I prefer the early one too though.
Can’t believe i haven’t seen this review.
What a pity
Seriously though I can’t believe Stuart lost in a platforming section.
2:40 So, Andross, you show your true form!
…I need to stop playing Star Fox 64 3DS.
You know how much money I would pay for them to permanently bring this show back? A lot of money.
I love this review so damn much!!! :)
I just saw the reunion episode for Geek Week on Youtube (thanks to Spoony for the heads-up by the way!) and I thoroughly enjoyed it! You gotta admit, Treguard is still lookin’ gooood after 20 years, what with all them dusky welsh maidens and all that… keeps you healthy I suppose! Yes it’s a delightfully stupid and camp show, but it certainly has entertainment value, in more ways than one, I tell ya! Anyway, I’ll be rewatching Spoony’s review now. See ya! Spellcasting: C-H-E-E-S-Y-R-U-L-E-S.
This is easily one of my favorite Spoony review. I’m kind of surprised he didin’T tried the concept himself, with the green screen and dungeon master skills :x
wait, i always hear at least three voices in my head, telling me where to go or what to do. are you telling me that’s not normal?!
old school Spoony, just in time for dinner, huzzah
I know, that’s why it’s on the front page. But wouldn’t it be awesome if they brought it back permanently? I would give them so much money.
The days when Spoony still had his hair cut. Ah, memories.
Here’s an article on how they used to make the show back in the day….
I like how even the evil wizard has a “Are you fricken serious?” face at 14:20.
