I suppose I should explain.
I’ve been sick quite a lot this year, and if it’s annoyed you, trust me, I’m living through it. For the past year or so it’s felt like a persistent cold that I just could never shake. It sounds minor, and it’s not the sort of thing you go to a doctor for. But you can imagine having a week-long cold that keeps coming and going once or twice a month. My sleep schedule has been ravaged by this. My nose has been stuffed up, my sinuses downright flooded, and more crud in my throat than you’d ever want to be familiar with.
Over the months, this problem has really begun to take its toll. The last month has seen me unable to sleep for more than about two hours at a time, being constantly exhausted, battling a month-long low-grade sinus headache, and popping cold meds like candy. I’ve been nearly worthless at anything requiring extended periods of concentration for about two weeks. I’ve been about as tired as a human being can get without needing physical abuse to stay conscious.
I went to see a doctor and they’re pretty sure it’s a small allergy problem that’s been allowed to get worse and worse to its present hellish state. I’m on meds right now to reduce the swelling and drain the crap out of my sinuses. I got some stuff to open my airways, and I’ll be taking Claritin to knock out those allergic reactions. We’ll see how it goes.
Anyway, thanks for the well-wishes. Hopefully this will be a turning point and I’ll be able to get some sleep and clear my head (in more ways than one).
