Deep from the archives comes an unreleased interview with Terminator 3 star Kristanna Loken at the Chicago Comic Convention, with Linkara!

  • xain2

Interesting Video spoony one. funny side note i also met a Dr. Insano cosplayer in otakon 2009. Got my picture with him and remember you posting some pics of him on the site.
    “I NEED THIRTY WHORES!!!”

a most amusing anecdote, true lolz insued

  • Plaguelord40K

SPOONY LIVES! lol, A new vid! Hurray!

  • jewbagel

lol you have a real talent for telling stories, this is hilarious so far. glad you decided to share it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.kerr1 Joe Kerr

nice vid spoony!, greetings back from chile, things are getting slowly back to normal, no aftershocks lately and we are still Alive

  • JBGuudermann

From Spoony's set-up I was expecting a really horrible, wonky and embarrassing interview but given the conditions, I think this turned out pretty good. The last bit was actually a good point about Boll's knack for evoking fascination of both the good and the bad kind – but when Linkara made his point about some people really hating the movies I was waiting for a big arrow pointing at Spoony's head ^^

  • hept12

You better not charge me for a autograph at SGC! I intend to have you sign a copy of Final Fantasy 8!

  • http://twitter.com/dividebyxero John Wilkes

Lol this is hilarious! It was actually good technique that you cut from the interview to explain stuff. That added to the humor. It's funnier like this then just playing all of the interview completely raw.

  • laharl777

Very cool, very amusing. And there was much lulz to be had!

  • Gauphastus

I remember having a brief chat with Robert Picardo once.
God, I felt like a jackass. So he's sitting at his table and I walk up with this utterly retarded grin on my face.
    “Bored yet?”
    Oh my GOD.

Good time overall. That place had the best steak I've ever had, and I had it for breakfast.

Uh, anyway.. Spoony, great stories here. I love this stuff.
If you have any more of this stuff stashed away, even just some stories to share on the vlog, let's hear them. It's hilarious.

  • Minic

Who the hell brings a baby to a comic convention? Seriously, there's a screaming baby in the background of that interview.

  • mwong04

Spoony's acting like a girl. HAHAHAHAAH!

  • Pheonix_blu

Hilalrious as always Spoony One. Glad you remembered this so we could see it! It was actually very enjoyable to watch.

  • http://twitter.com/miko_hazuki Michael Rittenberry

That deer in headlights moment from Linkara had me laughing for minutes. Great timing in cutting in to explain the moment, too. Thanks for putting this up. I'd love to see that vlog for the convention!

  • kefkaesque

The timing on the “busted” freeze-frame was perfect.

Just thought I'd say that. Very entertaining video.

  • ScutigeraColeoptrata

Wow, this has to be the most intense video I have ever seen you guys do. Even sitting at my computer desk I felt nervous at times and had to pause the video.

Poor honest Linkara. It's a good thing Doctor Insano is also a spin doctor. Seeing Spoony pretend to be enthused about a Uwe Boll is one of the funniest things I think I have ever seen.

This is going to sound crazy, but I actually think the interview would have worked better if Spoony had done the interview as Doctor Insano (easier said than done I know). Not only would this have made for one epic piece of internet..stuff, it would also probably have made Kristanna Loken more relaxed and the interview more fun and zany rather than quite so interrogation…y

Still, epic water treading there Spoony. :)

“It’s a good thing Doctor Insano is also a spin doctor. ”

      XFD

  • Eldred_pl

For a Tgwtg and Spoonyexperiment fan like me, it looks like a two celebrities are asking qustions to some goreous girl ;)
I was nervous too, watching it.
It's good there was two of You guys there, when one of You did the talking, the other could think about another question.

And again, She is so gorgeous! (O_O)

  • J_Alfred

    Wow…. that's pretty intense, guys.

I mean, no re-shoots, no scripts, no nothing, just the two of you on your own. Very nice.

And yes, you saved Linkara's ass with your mastery of doubletalk about Uwe. If you hadn't jumped on that particular grenade, I think the interview would have ended much sooner then expected. It would have been:
KL: “Do you like Boll movies?”
    L: “Um… no.”
    KL: “Ok. Bye!”

So nice save man. And see you at SGC this year! I hope you don't charge for autographs! I've gotta find something for you to sign… suggestions, anyone?

  • fattonysampsonite

    Spoony,
Don't be so hard on yourself. That was a pretty good interview for no prep time and at a convention. Most people wouldn't have asked and you actually manned up and did when you got a surprise yes. I wish you would have gotten to more Terminator stuff too, but you do what you can. You can easily build off this and feel much more confident and prepared next time.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1269893864 Zack Dolan

Wow…just wow… man, you tell stories like me, just ramblin' on swearing repeatedly that you're gonna get to a point some time the same day you started the story, I'm glad i'm not the only idiot who does that:)

This is awesome, though I can see why you would have wanted to kind of shuffle this away in a dark vault somewhere i'm really glad you finally unveiled this little nugget. I literally almost pooped em when linkara just inserted his foot into his mouth up to the knee and stood there, quaking in terror when he realized it (twice haha) I love Linkara, the guy is hilarious, and i think it is even more hilarious that he's all business dead serious “don't fuck this up” with you and you had to save him. that's the stuff of drunken humiliation for years to come. that man owes you a beer haha. that BUSTED thing made me spit out my drink

I also really admire you're humility. you straight up admit that you totally made fools of yourselves. a lesser man would have…well lets be honest never shown a living soul this tape…or at least tried to make up some bullshit story about how your ass kissing was really some crafty way to set her up to look like a fool for the review project, but no you owned up like a man (I AM A MAN *PUNCH) you said you had no balls, but seriously it took balls to admit that you crumbled faster than andy dick when faced with a raging john lovitz and like you said it could have been worse. and really, i can sort of see why you'd suddenly forget how bad bloodrayne of dungeon siege hurt and the bial you had for them when faced with a gorgeous giantess who, if her movies are any indication, knows enough deadly martial arts to break every bone in both your bodies and feed you that camera. hell, i'm surprised both of you got out anything more coherent than “duuuh…pretty…boobies…” (though linkara kinda looked like he was thinking it haha) so don't be too hard on yourselves. and she was definately a damn good sport about it. you could see in that little predatory smile of hers when linkara totally sputtered out the Boll thing that she knew she had two collossal nerds wetting their pants on her hands and she was debating on whether or not to bat you around like a cat with a ball of string

and a side bit about the convention in general, you said a multitude of battlestar guys past and present were there. i would bet ten to one richard hatch was there (the original apollo). I used to actually be at conventions on the vendors side of the table when i worked for two different comic companies that shall remain nameless (to protect the guiltiy…i have let's say a…unfavorable opinion of both parties but i have enough professionalism to not just openly bash them) and one of them used to work with the hatch man…i guess you might call it that anyway…on some project he was working on and i met old dickie hatch many times and let me tell you…that man…is INSANE. he is just…goooone. that guy has REFUSED to let go of the battlestar thing for like 30 plus years now and it is just crazy watching how if you even mention battlestar that guy is oozing all over you talking about how amazing it was and how it never really died and apollo was the real hero and it wasn't fair how everyone liked starbuck and blah blah blah and i guarentee he was there at that battlestar panel. i mean from the san diego comic con to some tubby schmuck hocking old cylon figures in beat up boxes, dickie hatch is there trying to get a piece of that action. the man has written novels about it for god's sake. look, i'm not saying he's a bad person or anything…just a CRAZY person. he and that unnamed company i worked for were making this godawful project that was…well, just battlestar with the names changed but with apollo as the REAL hero instead of starbuck of course. he had it in “development” with these clowns for over a year before i got a job with them, and i left them like almost 3 years ago and they are STILL “developing” it…it has yet to come out, as you might have guessed

and one more thing. about meeting people at cons. the coolest guy i ever met at one of those, working or just attending, was Lou Ferrigno. that guy is fucking awesome. he even came up and said hi to me cuz he remembered me a whole year later which i thought was just friggin awesome. Lou ferrigno is one of the coolest dudes to ever walk the earth and if anyone says otherwise i will totally fight you to the death…which of course he wouldn't actually need me to do because…he's the friggin' hulk. haha

(see, i told you we mindlessly ramble the same way and can't tell a story with anything resembling speed to save our lives hahaha)

  • svarti

You and The cinema snob have made the same commentary about Uwe Boll getting “better” in his movies. Did you discuss this when you get together last week? (assuming you did get together…)
    Anyway, cool stuff.

  • Cube-heaD

You could really hear the “Dun-duh-DUUUUU” sound when Linkara has the Busted face on.

  • http://twitter.com/slyvn Stephen Korinis

That was one of the more cringe-worthy interviews I've seen yet. :)

  • http://twitter.com/riftwolf Mathew Presley

I know this is like the fifth time I've mentioned this in the comments, but come on, this could've turned into the best Spooning with Spoony episode EVAH. I mean you were interviewing someone who's had first-hand experience with thirty whores.

I think as soon as Uwe Boll came up, she knew you were bashers of his work, and I think she could see through your ass kissing as soon as you used the word 'controversial' about ten times. I'm not sure what she thinks of Boll's work, but it sounds like she liked Boll and working with him (Though she said Boll doesn't give much direction, which explains a lot.)
Thing which surprised me the most about this interview was she said she has sword training for Bloodrayne. Because if you've seen that movie, it looks like Boll said 'Ok, wave this sword about a bit, we'll make it look like you're fighting in post'.
But I think you did well. It's not like you were going to ask difficult questions or anything. If you'd come out and said 'I have a soft spot for Boll because his films and his commentary of them is so funny', it's difficult to think of someone getting offended by that.

  • lastsigma

I actually got into a conversation with R. A. Salvatore at GDC2010, which was sort of my first run in with a celebrity. I had run into local or state sports figures before (like players for the Suns) but had no idea who they were and treated them like completely normal (if a little tall) people.

But I managed to deflect mentioning how much time most gamers spent mocking Drizzt Dourden, his most infamous semi-Mary Sue. Instead I wound up having a really cool conversation where we exchanged various traps and tricks we have thrown at players. He's a really awesome dude and…

I guess the point is, if you're going to talk to a famous person (okay Salvatore might not be that famous, but I like most of his work) it is really difficult to avoid the elephant in the room. You actually tried to tackle it and give it a hug. A terrible and brilliant idea at the same time, since you managed to make almost every mistake in filming an interview and still made it entertaining to watch.

    You get a gold star.

  • Jono666

Well, wow. I've got to say, well done Spoony. Man, it was so painful to watch Linkara. Every time he opened his mouth for this interview, you could see the whole thing begin to crash and burn, but luckily you did a great job turning it around, being diplomatic, and saving the entire thing from disaster. You really did do a great job, especially in lieu of: not having a script, being dressed like nerds, bad audio, so on and so forth. Kudos to you for even having to balls to go through with the interview in the first place. It really is better than you give it (and yourself) credit for. Us nerds aren't usually the most confident and outgoing people especially when faced with talking to an intelligent, attractive young actress such as Kristanna Loken.

Just to share a personal experience of my own… I actually had the opportunity to see a screening of Postal 2 here in Toronto Ontario Canada in 2007 (for free I might add) and Uwe Boll, as well as Zack Ward were there in person for a Q and A after the show. He talked about how bad of a reception his movie was getting being screened in Orange County, and in America in general. His excuse being, because of it's 9/11 terrorism scene, but we all know there is probably more to it than that. “Those Orange County fuckers are so sensitive and uptight!” – Uwe Boll. I personally didn't mind the movie too much, and it had it's moments. I think It's probably one of his 'best' ones, although that isn't saying much. After the screening, I got to talk to him one-on-one, shake his hand, get his autograph, and ask him some lame questions which I can't remember at the moment. Some things I do remember learning however, was that he was an ambulance driver at one point in his life, and that he is a pretty nice guy to talk to overall. Isn't that awesome?! Imagine being shot, only to be loaded into an ambulance where you see Uwe Boll's dopey-ass face starring back at you right before you die! Hah! talk about a nightmare.

Anyway, to wrap this up. I ended up losing his autograph at the restaurant I went to after the screening. I had placed it on the table, forgetting it there as I left, only to realize it was missing long after I returned home. So, somewhere there's a lucky waitress holding on to it, waiting for the year 2524, when her descendants can sell the undoubtedly invaluable piece of film memorabilia for millions of earth credits. I'm not going to lose sleep about it though, I think I will survive.

  • johnnysparks

I'm actually from Romania and a bit of research revealed that one of the top 5 prostitutes in Bucharest(teh capital) gets about 80-100$ per hour. Whores who are positioned lower on the food chain would've probably charged 20-30$ back when Bloodrayne was shot so it really is a good deal.

As far as the actual interview goes you did one hell of a job considering the circumstances, especially with saving Linkara's butt. It would be great if you two could do some celebrity interviews when you go to other conventions, either serious interviews or parodies( Dr. Insano and 90's kid interviews would kick ass).

  • Atrobel

She was probably delighted to be talking about something other than Terminator and the fact she is Bisexual. Sadly it seems to be the only thing she is known for!

You both seemed like sweet, nervous geeks (and I mean that in a good way) but also professional (as much as you could be at the last minute with no prep) and didn't just stare at her boobs etc.

You would make a good double act for interviewing people if you had prep time and weren't dealing with a subject like “Mr Crazy Brilliant” with someone who has been in his films.

If you two get the chance to work together again to interview someone DO IT. I can safely say you'd get a lot of the person as you come from different backgrounds and are both intelligent, well spoken and very capable of doing an excellent job.

Well done, I though it was the best you could have done under the circumstances

  • iamgamer41

To this day I still regret not stoping ya and saying Hi.You and Linkara walked right passed my friends and I on friday.I was like wow someone dressed up as Dr Insano. It never hit me till Iseen a picture of you up there that it was infact really you.I didnt know who Linkara was at the time but it would have been cool to get both of your autographes.

  • MFlorian

You did fine, Spoony. You actually sound far more nervous setting up the video than in the interview itself. Don't be so hard on yourself. And yes, Linkara's “Busted” face was awesome.

  • DemiPatt

Ouch! That looked liked it hurt… alot. Yes that was a nice save on your part Spoony and as far as pulling questions out of thin air you picked some good ones. Even so I can still feel your pain :'(

  • Doncornuto

One thing that you have to realize ist that as an actor/actress you go trough training for interviews.. so it's no shame if you can't really keep up as an “amateur” at that field. That beeing said i really find it amusing and astounding o_ö

You two guys do a good job.. considering the circumstances ^^; It is kinda hard to watch but that's just because your fans will empathise with ya and the situation is about the most uncomfortable i can come up with.

Linkara is kinda cute in this xD You can tell just how much he struggles to remain somewhat professional ^^

  • Dinodain

To be honest, this interview was not as bad as you made it out to be Spoony. The story behind it was funny and yes you can tell you guys were not ready to really interview Kristanna Loken, but I think it shows one of your better qualities. You can really pick up a conversation or a topic and get it rolling with people when you have little to start with or work with. You definitely know your Bowl and were quick to come with some neutral questions to ask.

You did better than what most people would have done, if set up in that same situation.

She did seem a little offish with Linkara after the first question, but was up with the interview. Overall, really cool and nervously funny thing to happen.

  • ApatheticOne (the original)

Geezus…you two come off as complete dorks in this..

  • http://twitter.com/redviv Vivi Roth

You show up as more nervous before back then and when telling this story than during the interview. Knight in shiny white scientist suite, eh? ^_^

  • the_knez

That's what you get from going against a pro, Spoony! XD

  • ThomasMink

Probably could have went a bit better.. but hey, live and learn. Could have also apologized for the Dr. Insano getup. I'm sure she'd have understood, seeing as how it's a comic convention after all.

I'm also not sure if she would have walked off if you hated on Boll. Then again, that probably would have taken a lot.. to actually explain what you guys really do. I mean, yea you review movies and games (and comics in Linkara's case).. but it's done for comical effect. Not like it's a serious review with actual hatred and rage going on.. maybe a bit of dislike to fuel it, but nothing as over the top that is seen in the actual videos. Then again, I'm now remembering your Transformers 2 review with your brother.. so nevermind. :)

  • adamfox

That was a tough watch… thought you came out well dude. dam she's hot…. she's was totally diggin on the spoony one haaaaard

  • FaustSnake

Now all you need to do is get Kristanna Loken to appear in Spooning with Spoony…or not because I bet a lot of us guys, and probably some girls, would hunt you down because of jealousy and do evil things to you.

  • http://twitter.com/DANfan69 Kaohe Alama-Francis

I know at first this was basically a dig on Uwe Boll gone out of control, but at least you kept your composure here man. I'm surprised she even did the interview, as you said, most celebrities would have just said no to an interview thinking that you and Linkara were probably some comic geeks wanting to have some alone time with a celebrity.

But remember Spoony, It could have been worse…. Doug did convince Christopher Lloyd to say “I WAS FROZEN TODAY”.

  • http://twitter.com/poetsandrebels poetsandrebels

I have to say I think you guys did pretty okay under the circumstances, and Kristanna seemed really nice and professional – but I can see why you'd be hesitant to upload this video. It takes guts to show people something you're not proud of or even ashamed of. That being said, I really enjoyed watching this! It was fun (though I must admit, a little painful at times), and you guys deserve mad props for actually going through with it.

And hey, if anything, you got a fun memory out of it, right? How many people can actually say: “Hey Linkara, remember that time we made fools out of ourselves in front of Kristanna Loken?” Not too many, I would say.

  • jermaine21

omg for all that shit talking Linkara did before the interview he fucked up the first few seconds in … the best you guys could of done was at least be honest with her she would of respected you for that, but in a weird way i love the interview because it's so real and uncomfortable like my everyday life with pretty faces LoL

  • Kaithan

I think it's worth noting that she was looking at Spoony for most of the interview. I think Spoony actually comes off a lot more professional in this than Linkara, and because he asks more questions she probably figured Linkara was just your lackey :P

Still, you saved Link's ASS in this.

  • TheRetroFox

    Poor Louis…

That freeze frame.. I almost expected you to break out with “This is the moment in which Linkara's self-confidence snaps like a Twix bar.”

But yeah, I've found that a few of the celebrities from the big sci-fi shows like Star Trek and BSG are actually pretty fan-friendly.

A friend of mine managed to hang out and have drinks with Edward James Olmos (who reportedly had a head start) after the panels. She got a picture of him with her in her furry costume to boot.

At my first Star Trek con I found myself talking with a random stranger who ended up giving me a free photo and autograph. Turns out that was Jonathan Del Arco (3rd of 5 from TNG).

  • americancheeze

Is it just me, or has the Spoonster lost weight?

  • Anonymous

It seems to me she really enjoyed working with Uwe and prolly accepted the interview so she can put in a good word for him.

  • americancheeze

come to think of it, I wonder if she ever went to the site you mentioned to check for the interview?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Niggow-Wiggow/100000461234366 Niggow Wiggow

I absolutely enjoyed this vlog – it was so funny and nice too see how exited you were while talking about the interview and every detail of it. And this even now after actually more than a year has passed since! :D

In the end I think she really liked you at some point as it never seemed that there was an unpleasant silence present or a look on her face that says “uuuhh I have to get out of here!”.

Big respect to the improv-skills there – with nearly no time to prep that was a pretty decent interview

  • bastafari

Great Job Spoony! But eff Roddy Piper? Come on! He's the perfect combo between Hulk Hogan and Bruce Cambell! You need to watch Hell Comes to Frog Town. Nuff Said.

  • LeeEnfeild

I love Linkara in that end scene. “The criticism never seems to be directed towards the actors…. I mean, I don't have anything against -you-! I… I don't… I don't have anything against anyone!” Hehehehe! You guys should've just ran away the second it ended.

  • Kevin_Holsinger

Good morning Spoony and fellow Spooners.

As far as Ms. Loken's work goes, I actually liked Dark Kingdom. I don't think bringing that up would have saved Linkara, though.

    Good work, guys.

  • Loveshack

    You lucky SOB.

  • Loveshack

I totally have that jacket hanging on the back of the chair, too. Awesomeness.

  • Loveshack

You lucky SOB. Also, I totally have that same jacket hanging on the back of the chair. Awesomeness!

  • http://twitter.com/dividebyxero John Wilkes

Dude, I wanna see Spoony running around as Dr. Insaneo at a convention. That would be 1000 different kinds of awesome!

  • leukarlung

Yup Hell comes to frogtown is one of those movies you just have to own

  • theryno665

I gotta say, for a first celebrity interview with no material planned, it went pretty well (but maybe not so much for Linkara lol). Like you said, a better location would've done wonders. Not as awkward as you built it up to be (but, again, maybe not so much for Linkara).

But yeah, convention celebs are a random lot. I've only been to one con: GenCon 2008. I didn't even know of the media guests until I read the program and kinda marked out (in my pants) when I found out Christy Hemme and Gail Kim were there. And since it was the first day (people didn't really start coming until day 2), there was literally nobody in line so I just waltzed up, talked to them a bit, got a pic with both of them for $40. Best $40 I ever spent. Christy was kinda stand-offish and spent most of her time texting but Gail was super sweet and awesome and talked to me the entire time. She even called me cute (yeah, I know she was being nice but still)! Plus this was like a couple months before she left TNA for WWE so it was kinda cool for that to happen. So I can't ever really say a bad word about Gail Kim ever, even if she hasn't been performing up to par in the 'E lately.

But yeah, the other “celebs” that were there that year were Peter Mayhew (aka Chewbacca – who I didn't talk to but was actually really cool, he was seen outside of the convention center quite a bit and though he wouldn't give autographs while out of the autograph table, he made it clear that he would've if weren't for managers and such, which is understandable), then a couple people from Stan Lee's Who Wants To Be A Superhero (LiveWire, Big Momma and someone else from Season 2 I can't remember) and…get this…David Faustino. BUD FREAKIN' BUNDY! Apparently he's been in like a few SyFy-ish films but I honestly thought he dropped off the face of the earth. Plus it was pretty sad to see two of the hottest females in wrestling play second (or third) fiddle to Bud Bundy.

PS – You probably wouldn't have wanted an autograph from Virgil. I've heard fan accounts that since he doesn't get much recognition, when he does he just won't leave you alone and will in fact overcharge you for autographs because he needs the money. But at least you're not a woman. If you were, Virgil would flirt with you to the point of attempted rape.

Terminator 5 Spoilers! Skynet is really run by Dr Insaneo!

You heard it here first, folks!

  • bastafari

    Thank you!!!

  • devilfish

I've been to Romania and boy, the dog problem is still pretty horrible. Half the city was razed to build Ceauşescu's palace and the raving gangs of dogs are a by-product of that time. They're still there and they're fucking insane. There's packs of dogs attacking joggers in the nation's capital. I'm not even kidding. Say about the Bloodrayne gang what you want, at least they took some of those fucking dogs. That's never a bad thing.

Linkara digging his own grave is cute as all hell. I just wanted to give the poor guy a hug and a sammich. You saved his ass, man.

  • Anonymous

    I love this < 3
    Spoony you rock :D

  • Anonymous

    You lucky SOB.

  • mrwednesdaynight

Actually, I don't think you did all that bad. Linkara seemed to only be along for the ride. You, even though you were dressed as Doctor Insano, came off as inquisitive and knowledgeable. I agree that you passed your diplomacy roll with the “So you guys are Boll fans, huh?” question. The conditions were not ideal for any kind of interview, I agree but I didn't get the impression that see was that put off by it. I think this is another case of you being too hard on your own work. For an on the fly interview, it could have been a lot worse. And as for your costume, she is at a comic convention with people dressed as and howling like Tuskan Raiders, Doctor Insano comes off as dignified in comparison. I do like that Linkara asked her about what she is working on now. Actors love to raise awareness of their projects. All in all, you could have done better but you could have done a lot worse.

  • heterophobe

Haha, yeah that was most likely me who said that. I totally recognized Linkara and I just couldn't wrap my mind around you being in Chicago. Linkara lives a good deal closer so it was more believable. I am totally embarrassed but eh, when you walk into a comic convention in a FMQ shirt, you really can't get THAT embarrassed. But it was really neat to meet you.

  • mrwednesdaynight

And another thing (I hate replying to my own posts but something just came to mind.) On the topic of Uwe Boll and being a fan. You've seen all his movies, you've watched the commentaries, your knowledgeable about the mans background and career, does that not make a person a fan. Back to the old adage that something doesn't have to be good to be awesome. Similar to Ed Wood movies, Uwe Boll movies give a certain sub-culture of movies fans a form of enjoyment, even if they are not groundbreaking technical achievements. In the case of both directors, their movies are not good but if I had a chance to meet them, I would mark out. I'd know more about their movies than probably they would. Liking bad movies because they are bad and thats fun for certain views does make a person a fan, IMO. But maybe I'm off base here.

  • Taerdin

You said you thought actors from the original Battlestar Galactica were there. Well actually Richard Hatch played Apollo in the original and he also played Zarek in the remake. Just thought I'd point that out in case you didnt know.

    Oh god this was great.

  • ThereseBanning

Kristanna is so gorgeous. Don't worry about it, nobody was listening to what you and that nobody were saying anyway. :)

  • BassForever

I actually thought you guys did a really good job. Don't be so tough on yourself Spoony

  • jujuman

Best Vlog This year! That interview made me nervous too man…
but you did very well! So Spoony! More interviews with celebs!

    And 3 Cheers to Spoony!
Hip hip! Hurray! Hip hip! Hurray! Hip hip! Hurray!

  • Camdigidy

you should have asked her to be in SPOONIN WITH SPOONY! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Paul-Gifford/500766839 Paul Gifford

What? Spoony doesn't use Ad block pro? Shame.

  • vyers

    Hahaha!

I love the disconnect between movie cheesy movie dialog and the interview.

Like how in Dracula he says “I don't drink………. wine” and there's this big unasked question hanging in the air that NOBODY asks because characters in movies aren't generally wise to those kind of obvious hints.

So when she asks you guys if you're fan of Uwe Boll, Linkara laughs like a movie antagonist and says “In a way”.

Then when she asks in what way, he's like “Shit, wait, she wasn't supposed to pick up on that. People don't ask those questions in movies. SHE'S BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL THAT I AM ATOP!!!!”

  • NaitoKage

The interview you may be talking about is the one from Bestdamnpodcastever.com which was a 50 minute podcast of them talking to Uwe Boll on the phone supportive of his crazy films, it's a rather interesting listen.

  • thedeviot

I actually don't think it came out too bad considering the lack of prep time, and noise. There is one thing I don't think you might have considered, despite feeling perceived as suspect by bringing up Boll.
That is that a Boll related discussion with her probably seemed fresh at the time simply because I'm sure she's really tired of talking about Terminator 3. T3 really had a lot of it's own problems, I'm sure she dealt with a lot of incendiary questions about that movie than the Boll movies simply because it was a lot more known by the masses.
Sure you were at a comic convention, but even then, a lot more sci fi fans would probably have questioned her about T3. At least I would think.

Anyway I think on the whole you guys did have a pretty good interview despite the on the flyness of everything. That said it might be interesting to see an in character Dr. Insano interview someone. Just something to think about.

  • levantos

That was your BEST celebrity interview EVER =D

  • qwrtyp

Haha, poor Linkara. He just can't lie AT ALL.
Don't be too harsh on yourself. I think you did very well, she knew that you weren't prepared and she seemed like she was used to Boll haters. Her question was actually very mean and your self-loathing is very cute.

  • BluJay

You did pretty well, Linkara on the other hand…man he really can't lie for shit. He was really hurting, he was lucky to have you there to dig him out

  • Nephilim1977

lol that was great :) I should really check out the Bloodrayne movies. Being a b-movie fan they sound interesting.

This Dutch game reporter recently git to do an interview with Uwe Boll himself when he was in Amsterdam signing copies of Postal. It was pretty amusing as well. Depite his movies being.. not good.. Uwe genuinely seems like a nice guy. Misguided maybe but nice nonetheless.

Here is the interview (you might not understand the Dutch intro but the interview itself is English):

    This was quite amuzing Noah
Kistana held her own, and was sharp on the questions

you totally saved that linkara fella ;p

Kristana looks good today also i've seen
first i'd seen her in MKC, and offcourse in T3

she's quite different with the short coupe, the long hair suits her,

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Patricio-Escobedo/832700741 Patricio Escobedo

That went well, given the circumstances. And yes, why the… didn't you guys ask her about Terminator?! but ok… good job!

  • wozz13

Pretty sweet guys. I got to meet Uwe Boll before a screening of his movie Rampage. We talked abit about movie making and stuff, he's a pretty nice guy and comes of as very genuine. Though he did still turn down the chance to be in my music video, guess I am beneath him, lol. Though I managed to get, the ghost from The Grudge 3, Aiko Horiuchi, in there

check it out if you like at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRVq0sYGyOY

  • http://cassave.deviantart.com/ Cassavius

You could've anticipated that she is used to being heckled about Boll movies.

  • sniktbub

You conducted yourself pretty well, actually Linkara came off as looking more unprepared. I totally would have asked her a ton of questions about Schwarzenegger though, I'd love to work with the guy.

  • seepo1456

lol poor linkara. that looked painful

  • http://bluehighwind.blogspot.com/ BlueHighwind

Spoony you are the only possible thing that could get me in that theatre to see Terminator 5.

  • TheEvrantKnight

are you still planning to do something which involved the battlestar galactica board game.

  • primusrule

Dude I would'nt have the balls to talk to her either she is powerful

  • http://www.gamespot.com/users/cornbredx CornBRED-X

The most awkward thing about it (besides Linkara clearly being more unprepared then you even given the circumstances) was the fact you guys decided to surround her. It almost seemed like you were attempting to gang up on her which may be why you were afraid she was mad at you (which, from what I could tell btw, she wasnt. She seemed to know what she was working with and was quite fine with conversing with you guys. She even kept continuing conversation often. She seemed to know you guys were nervous as well).

I will grant you, though, the atmosphere was less than desirable so you did get a decent interview, despite it being kinda useless for the stuff you guys generally do. Im not a fan of Kristanna Loken, and while your right, Uwe Boll has grown from so inept its funny to now just boring, I think the only reason she stands up for him is because she works with him (you know, you grow close with people you work with, their supporting your life by paying you to use your talents). I dont agree with her that hes a genious, and the fact that Uwe Boll is (if he ever does anyway) making a 3rd Bloodrayne actually more like the game now is anything but genious. At this point Uwe Boll has zero credibility and there is nothing genious about taking a dump on a series that wasnt particularly popular, but still had fans, and making something comepletely off base with it that could have otherwise been an interesting, even if bad, movie.

A dampire fighting nazis was why I played the original blood rayne in the first place. Thats so cheesy its awesome! He's just pulling a Paul Anderson. Paul Anderson made the Resident Evil movie more like the games by adding characters with names from the series (and maybe even clothes); thats not giving the game its due. Uwe Boll has already setup the movies story all wrong (Kristanna Loken, for instance, is not at all like Blood rayne in the game) so the only way he could redeem it to what it maybe should have been is by rewriting it to be more like the game. I already know it wont be like that, even if he tries to be more like the game now.

I actually get the impression more so that its not that she disagrees Uwe Boll is a bad director, but that people wont shut up about it. When your the one making a living off that stuff I can see how it would get under your skin. Shes just being nice, though, theres no way any one as smart as she makes herself to be (which I believe she is) to think that Uwe Boll is in any way a genious. Hes a genious at being horrible at movies, thats about it. She even admitted, on camera, he gives next to no direction. What kind of film making is that? Ya, I guess shes right. He's a genious cus he can make half assed movies and continue to get paid to do so; even if its at the expense of the fans that see more potential in the game licenses [hes stolen and trashed] then Uwe Boll ever could.

The only shame is you couldnt have an honest review being that people get offended. Well, prep would have been nice too. Then at least you could've asked questions that were true without being demeaning as she doesnt deserve that, but she does deserve to actually answer real questions which in that climate couldn't have happened. Its a real shame you have to tip toe around the truth but I know I couldn't have done any better.

Anyway, video was good (you beat yourself up to much) I just disagree with Kristanna Loken. IMO she's a nobody anyway, so I cant share the star struck sentiments… It is kind of funny how you posting that video a year later brings it back to the fore-front for you, though, as when you introduce it and talk about it you'd think it just happened (you are so flustered haha).

  • Anonymous

Hm, I was kind of hoping you would still be in character during the interview.

  • landofunk

Yikes that was painful to watch (I kept skipping past to your next commentary) You can just feel the uncomfortableness while watching..but you at least went through with it! I liked the bit where you couldn't hear about Bloodrayne 3 yet still acknowledged it..happens to me all the time! Where you don't hear what a person says but you don't want to bother them to repeat it. Good to see you sporting the Game Heroes shirt too..was Handsome Tom giving them away to everyone?

  • dsprox

Rowdy Rod is the man spoony, he is the main reason why “They Live” is such an amazingly awesome movie. Seriously, he does an awesome job in that movie.

  • archedgar

I loled *so* hard at the spot where he says “Busted!” and Linkara has this confused, sort of horrified look on his face.

Anyway, glad you uploaded this spoony, you guys did a good job given that you had minimal time to prepare. You should try for more celebrity interviews, it could lead to more hilarity, especially if you take Linkara with you again.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Daniel-Kirtley/1220135430 Daniel Kirtley

Oh man, I totally saw myself there. Its funny, I would have reacted exactly the same, lol.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Justin-Patrick-MacIntyre/726213185 Justin Patrick MacIntyre

I felt so bad for Linkara at the very end let alone the “busted” moment, but that was good given that you had no time to rehearse what you were going to say. Interview more celebrities spoon man!

  • http://www.facebook.com/TaliareilDuca Anthony Wilhem Beck

    It wasn't that uncomfortable? :S
I think they did a very good job given the circumstances.

  • datatroll

You know Spoony, no matter how much somebody makes in a year, we all still put our pants on one leg at a time. We are all still human, and Insano is still awesome.

I would be genuinely surprised if you didn't have a few fans lurking around among the people who get paid to look pretty. It is probably too much to hope that she was one of them, but stop selling yourself short. You make your living in front of a camera. The fact that you are able to pull that off speaks volumes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/TaliareilDuca Anthony Wilhem Beck

Yeah, Uwe's pretty cool. He makes godawfull movies but it's not from lack of trying.

  • batlashes

Oh my! “I'm sure he means well.” is about the worst thing you could possibly say! :) “His work is interesting, I enjoy all facets of the movie industry and his movies give me great pleasure in the unique way he creates them” is a blanket diplomatic statement off the top of my head. That's not under pressure though, poor Linkara <3

  • http://twitter.com/Deimos1984ad Zak Mahmud

I don't know why but for some reason I keep thinking about the negotiation system in Mass Effect 2 when seeing that interview, anyway.

That was great and you guys did well, I laughed so hard at the busted part and at the same time felt sorry for Linkara. So yeah I thought is was cool, and I gotta say for that interview I give you the title of platinum set of balls because that takes some courage to do that.

  • Nephilim1977

I could totally see myself having a beer with him at a bar :)

  • rudy023

Kristanna mentioned that Uwe directs several movies a year. Isn't that often a porn director's claim to fame?(Which almost ties in with the Romanian prositute story.)

  • sifer2

I would have been embarrassed too. Interview like that just doesn't work doing it without an preparation. You guys were just struggling to think of questions an it was mostly boring. But at least you did escape it without making fools of yourselves an you can say you interviewed a celebrity.

I must say she seems more awesome now not only because she took the time to let two random fans interview her but because she was sharp enough to see you guys were not really Uwe Boll fans. That Blond is definitely fake hair color haha.

  • Ashenge

Yeah I was thinking about bringing this interview (and the lack of posting it on the website) up on the forums. But I didn't want to be “That asshole” because I had no idea if had been brought up before. o: I'm glad you recalled it.

  • simoneer

    Good interview. Until the end.

  • kikyoo

Spoony didn'tcha notice? at least from what you showed us, she actually seemed to enjoy talking to you, and when she yelled at you, it was to get you back into the fight boy! stand up and show us what you've got! She really seemed to not want to deal with Linkara, and instead really seemed to want to focus on Spoony. I honestly thought THAT was funny. Linkara wanting to take the helm, but ends up the side show to Dr. Insaneo's greatness!

Honestly you could have done a lot worse, it was implied just by mentioning Uwe bowl that you didn't like him, and it was kind of funny to see her Squeeze linkara like she did, but it was awesome to see Spoony, the man with the plan save face, of both himself and his unfortunate sidekick. Honestly that's probably why she agreed to do it, she saw that you were a hardcore nerd cosplaying, and thought it might be kind of fun to talk with them for a bit, rather than talk with the self important high and mighty duchebags she's probably used to talking to.

But most importantly the point of it all… what was the point? Well it wasn't even your idea so why do you have to know WHY you are doing it eh? well you did agree to do it so you should at least know why, but I think at the very very least you should have asked her if she wouldn't mind going outside to do the interveiw because that noise… totally unacceptable you fucking dolt!

BTW… I think you are standing in Linkara's spot… move or he's gona flash bang you in the face!

  • pretzels

What a great story to tell. I loved your recounts of freaking out.

  • Ubersnuber

The interview was far from as bad as you described it to be. But then again, you did, as you said, edit it heavily. So, maybe I'm glad that you saved us from those horrible parts ^_^
She seemed to be ok with you.

  • ff78cs

hey spoon's the interview was great i swear i was linkara just wanting to say ok so your movies sucked bloodrain was a piece of shit!! lol anyways spoony i think you should have played dr insane-o and just had her go along with it.like said to her in character “yes well not all evil scientist get to build a hot naked robot from the future who try's to destroy man kind with there shitty movies alone” cut and thats a rap.lol the reaction is what counts lol

  • TheCynicalReaper

Celebrities are just people…like strippers! Strippers go on stage and deserve to be hollered at, and celebs go on screen and deserve to have their lives ruined with horrible, insulting interviews! MWAHAHAHAHA!! BUUURN!

…Sorry, I've been playing Sims 2 lately and it brings out the evil in me.

-ANYway, I think you did well enough, mate. I don't get star struck in the least (barring Michael Madson, Patrick Stewart, and Steve Blum [Cowboy Bebop VA]). Yet, I know if I went to ask a random celeb for a shitty interview, and my joke was accepted, I'd be nervous as hell. It's nice to see you, Linkara branching out, though, even if it is into a forest fire. lol
–Seriously, now. Thanks for the upload, Spoony, and thanks for the laughs.

I would have loved to have seen Pheolus and Film Brain do this one – THAT would have been social awkwardness. Spoony, you did great, and seriously, I love the fact you respected the actress.

well we can learn about this story?? meaby could be; some times when some one say to u “u dont have balls” good things happens.

    great video ..really fun xD

  • celey

Hey, this is my first time commenting on one of your videos, but I've been watching for a good while. Dude, Spoony, man, you are way too hard on yourself. And this is coming from someone who will feel outrageously guilty if she accidentally steps on a bug. It's that bad. I noticed this, too, when Doug Walker was doing a commentary and talked about how you were feeling bad because you thought you had ruined the video when, in fact, you had made it more awesome. Relax. You're doing a great job, dude!

Anyway, I don't think you had much to worry about…I mean, perhaps dressing up as Dr. Insano actually helped build your confidence! After all, Dr. Insano is President of the United States of Science… Politicians! They're good with diplomacy! Your back was totally covered!

Taking a step back from being silly, now… You did do a pretty good job for your first time interviewing a celebrity. Linkara didn't do so well, though… But I hope he doesn't feel bad about this, too. I can't lie to save my life, either. It's actually a good thing… it shows that he's a pretty honest person.

And neither of you should feel ashamed for your nerdiness/dorkiness (norkiness?). Embrace your nerdy side! Being nerdy is made of awesome! I love nerds (probably because I am one). And it really says something about you guys be willing to post this video up for all of your fans to see. I mean, that's real dedication for the sake of our entertainment. And boy, was this entertaining. I don't know why but watching you two squirm was hilarious. It was interesting seeing you two out of your element. :)… You should both feel proud of yourselves!

I'd definitely be interested in seeing that Vlog with you and Linkara running around the comic convention. :D…

    Nerds unite!!

  • rudy44

Dude, great video and kristinna loken seems pretty cool. Anyway, i live in Romania and this storys about the stray dogs are ussually real. The problem with stray dogs is the same as the gators in Florida, they just apear everywear. Anyway, cool video dude, i'm a big fan.

  • Anonymous

That wasn’t as bad as you said it was. Kristanna is a pretty cool person, considering the movies she’s been in. She really comes off as one of those actors who doesn’t really care much what people thinks because she’s doing what she loves–which is what matters anyway. I’ve always liked her despite some of the crap she’s been in, personally.

I think it would be really cool to see the uncut version of this, unless you’re too embarrassed to post it or you just don’t feel like it. But if you could put it up that would be sweet.

random fact: I can’t help that I kind of giggled when she mentioned Michelle Rodriguez. During and after the production of Bloodrayne there was a big controversy involving the two of them, because Kristanna had come out saying that they were involved/had a relationship of sorts that Michelle vehemently denied (but really, who is Michelle Rodriguez kidding? I love her, but c’mon). Would have been cool to see if you had the balls to go ask her manager for an interview as well, but if I were in your shoes and had just come off attempting to talk to Kristanna Loken about Uwe I definitely wouldn’t have.

All in all this was pretty great. I hope to see the rest one day.

  • Anonymous

I’d have to agree with all the people stating that you were being too hard on yourself. For the location were bound to, I’d say this went really well.

The only thing I’m a little disappointed in is the fact that you had no time to prepare for this. I mean, can you imagine how epic it would’ve been to have Dr. Insano interview the Terminator on how to take over the world? … And build hot chicks?

  • jabbakahut

Ha, way to what looks like a really bad video into something really funny. Good job, cheers!

If I was famous enough to warrant interviews, and if a guy dressed as a mad scientist asked to interview me, I would say yes before he was done asking. Just saying. XD

Great interview. Poor Linkara at the end, lol.

I hope you guys do end up putting up some of the rest of the v-log. I would love to watch Insano chase Linkara around a comic convention. :D

This was a good one. Celey said it best about you being too hard on yourself. You could have done much worse…heh, this was pretty funny, poor Linkara…

  • marto99

poor linkara …… spoony did u really have to add that at the end? :P hahaha

  • Jumpooleez

Haha this makes Linkara look bad more than you. Still, everything around the interview made this vid really awesome.

  • MrDogma

I love how at the end there with Linkara, you can see Spoony screaming “Stop talking you fool!” with his eyes.

  • Daikun

It looks like your video was posted on Kristanna's forums.

The best part is the fan-response to it. There's no hint that they even listened to Spoony, because they've basically
played it as if Spoony thought he filmed an interview masterpiece. Anyways, this is all I have to say:

    Spoony's forums:

second point, I'd almost challenge them to watch Spoony's intro, as well. He was very modest about the whole thing.

  • david_wevill1

haha linkara at the end, it was like watching a curb your enthusiasm moment lol {-D

  • escalator

That was pretty awkwardly funny. I felt a bit embarrassed for Linkara lol. For the most part though, I thought you guys did a kick-ass job considering the situation.

Kristanna Loken is one of the few celebrities who, besides being beautiful, is intelligent. If you watch all her interviews, are delicious. It is one of the few people that can turn one stupid or boring interview into something interesting, as in this case. Never used the scandal to get attention. In this interview, she again shows how polite, friendly and down to earth she is. Personally, I do not enjoy watching this. Very bad made, and with someone who actually deserves the best. But, hey!! It is an inexpensive way to have fun, these things abound on the Internet Kristanna Loken is one of the few celebrities who, besides being beautiful, is intelligent. It's a competition? What is the meaning of the amount of post, topics or members? One thing is a forum for fans of one person, and another is a place where things like this are posted. Why here has more members, does not mean that this is better, but quite the opposite. “Tell me what you like and I tell you who you are”.

Who knew Kristanna Loken had fans? And who knew they were crazy motherfuckers?

I honestly didn't even know she was still making movies I just remember seeing T3 and thinking, Wow this movie sucks shit. I didn't even know how she talked IRL. To the fans of Loken: you should probably find a life. She's not even that great of an actress. She couldn't even play a robot convincingly.

  • tim0122

Okay, I’ve never posted on here but I love your stuff, Spoony, and I felt compelled to post because of a very crazy coincidence or two. So I have a bit of a story to tell.

I went to the Chicago Comic Con back in August. Well, at that time I hadn’t yet been introduced to Spoony or the Nostalgia Critic, I think I first saw one of NC’s reviews a week or so after I got back from the con. Anyway, I had no idea who NC, Spoony, or Linkara were at the time I went to the con. And then after I got into them I heard that Spoony and Linkara had gone to the con. I then kicked myself thinking, “Darn! It’s too bad I didn’t know who they were at that time. I might’ve (if I had seen them) been able to say hello or something.” I also wondered if I might’ve seen them but just not remembered because I wasn’t looking for them at the time and therefore wouldn’t have remembered if I had seen them. I then, after kicking myself about that for a day or two forgot all about it.

Then I saw the caption under this video and was reminded of it all over again. So I’m watching the video and then Spoony mentions how he was dressed as Doctor Insano and stayed in character and made all these taking over the world threats and stuff. And then I remembered that I thought I recalled seeing a guy at the con who was all dressed up in crazy doctor gear (who I did think was supposed to be Dr. Horrible, sorry Spoony) and he was yelling and saying all these crazy things I remember thinking something like “What the heck is up with that guy?”. And I think I remember seeing Linkara with him as well.

Anyway, to the crazy part. At one point during the con I decided to rest against one of the white walls. Well, guess what? I’m in the fricken video. If you look behind Linkara sometimes you can see a guy in a black shirt sitting against the wall. I’m not there when they finish the interview because I think I had gotten up and left by that point. After I saw that I was like, “Oh, my god! That’s just unreal.” I do remember now seeing two guys interview Kristen Loken when I was sitting down. But I had totally forgotten about it until now and wouldn’t have been able to realize that it had been Linkara and Spoony even if I had remembered it. But I do remember seeing Linkara because I do slightly remember seeing him in the outfit he was wearing and wearing his famous hat.

Anyway, thought that might be fun to share. I was, unintentionally in one of Spoony’s vids! Yah!

P.S. Sorry I thought you were crazy Spoony. Well, you are crazy but in a good way.

P.S.S. Sorry for this post being so long. I’m a bit long winded.

I think that moderator Monica thought that this videos is something comletely different. How she got to that conclusion, I don't know, but I know for sure that she haven't seen the whole video, or she's stupid.

  • kungfuman316

Doesn't look like they cared too much, only one person is really complaining (and that's 33% of the people in the thread at this time)

I have to say though, while I normally like your stuff Spoony…did you really have to announce “this was taped to mock you”? I think that bit there came across wrong. Not that I'm a fan of her acting (especially not Terminator 3) but jeez, there are ways to say it and well you know the rest.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ryan-Alarie/100000589400441 Ryan Alarie

Moments like that always remind me of the Simpson's quote: “Dig up stupid!”

  • vegee

The last minute of the video where Linkara is talking to her is so hard to watch. I've been in situations like that where you're trying as hard as you can to be cordial and doing everything in your power to monitor what you're saying, but one tiny comment manages to slip out that dooms the rest of the conversation.

I think you guys did a good job at keeping your cool, though. Kristanna Loken isn't exactly the most well known actress but I would definitely be nervous as hell conducting an interview that focused on her experience with Uwe Boll.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Devon-Becker/1624706321 Devon Becker

    I had a similar situation before :D

  • pauladam14

You know? I also read what the moderator wrote and I do not agree with you. In fact, she basically says what everyone says here, just remarks, that for her, this kind of videos does not seem so funny. Can not they think differently?. She, at any time insulted anyone, as many do here. Spoke only of what can be seen in the video and it shows that she understood clearly. Call it stupid, oh well … You are a true gentleman

All have to like the videos of Spoony? and if someone does not like it, automatically makes it stupid? Come on!!

  • coyoterys

    Spoony,

You guys did a great job under the circumstances. You have nothing to be ashamed of, after-all it wasn't YOU who appeared in multiple Uwe Boll films.

  • lefiath

I'm not saying that everybody has to like it, but she had ridiculous arguments and she was saying things that really aren't in that video at all. You can present your opinion, that's ok. So do I. And if you say something without proper argument, or something that isn't true, be prepared that someone else will react. What I saw was some really weird reaction and attack on person who really doesn't deserve that, also some strange deductions, which says that either I or that Monica is seeing things. Either that, or she is stupid. And gentleman? That's kinda sexist :P I shoud behave and she don't have to?

  • lefiath

What kind of bullshit is that. So you are saying that if something is more popular, it's worse? That's not just lame, it's envy – if you hate Spoony that much, why you even react here in comments? I think you're taking this too seriously, and also trying to make excuses that doesn't work at all. Your argument doesn't work.

  • Jumpooleez

Look, if you're going to insult Spoony and his fans just do it. You don't have to kiss someone's ass first.

  • Sephur

well, the good news: That Kristanna Loken forums nipped the impending flame-war in the bud. The topic is down. :)

  • pauladam14

So, Spoony can insult or ridicule someone and their fans, but if someone does the same with Spoony, is an attack?. Lovely. That's what I call freedom of expression.

  • pauladam14

If we must be prepared for reactions, then why did you react, again? Looks like you took it more seriously than me. Your reaction and your arguments are exaggerated. I insist I do not know who is Monica, but I read what she wrote and not understand what is so strange or ridiculous to you. To be honest, she understood the video. Even clarifies how the interviewer recognizes how not to get an interview, but does so in a manner annoying (the guy, not her). She never (me either), considered that the interview is a work of art, because from the beginning the authors scoff at it. And she also noticed it and made it clear. Man, do not want to continue discussing, I think that there is no reason to fight someone for this. I just think that some are attacking meaningless to a person whose comment is not unlike the many here did. If there are a few things that she, or others have not liked, has a right to say it. Or not?.

Two final notes: First, I do not hate Spoony. There are things I like, make me laugh and things that don't. Only bother me aggressive reactions when someone has a different view. Sometimes I answer, sometimes not. That's wrong?
Second: I'm not saying that all the popular things are worse. I say not “always”, mass or popular things are necessarily better. Even many dictators were popular.

I do not know if you'll accept, but I send you greetings and peace.

  • Salenstormwing

Spoony, you saved Linkara by swooping in there like Batman or Yor while sailing in on his dead Beast of the Night. I was almost expecting Linkara to look down at his arm and say “Look at my wrist, Time To Go!”. Your questions were great considering the zero prep time and prodding of Linkara to get you to ask for the interview in the first place, so don't be so down on yourself.

  • jaysong56

Wow , tim. That is kind of cool that you were there. Too bad you did not know who they were though. This being my first comment on this subject. I think you guys did ok for what you had. You did not even think she was going to say yes to begin with. I would probably have left the country after she said yes , and just run the hell away.

As bad as she may be in some of those terrible films. Shes still an actress and deserves some respect. After all its up to the directors and writers to help the actors and actresses do there job correctly and have interesting roles. So just like you she could not control her working environment either. Still boll is such a horrible film maker that it makes me cry out for the entire human race. Heck I would prefer to be in a better film myself but if I had a chance to I would act in a boll film. Money is money. But I would probably burn my bridges fairly quickly. If I was in a boll film I would probably post a video log about how terrible the experience was and make fun of the film and myself.

Still this video was a great experience to watch. You guys were funny! And I would love to see some more of the footage of you guys running around etc.

  • jewbagel

Where does he insult her or her fans? He's actually rather nice to her and compliments her. The whole video is pretty much explaining his whole ineptitude in trying to interview a celebrity.

  • Anonymous

I think this video actually showz how much of a sweetheart you are. Even under such daunting circumstances there as always the underlying fact that you cared about how she would feel about having to go through another Boll-hater interview and that you tried not to destroy her dignity.

You seem extremely timid (anybody would under, especially under those conditions), but you were considerate and you saved Linkara’s ass. Good job, man. And also you got ballz to release this to your fans.

Great clip, Spoony. And quite a departure for you, I think.

Say what you will about Uwe Boll. The man is mad. As in crazy mad. And his movies are…
Anyway, I think considering the fact you had no preparation for the interview, it came off
extremely well. If I'd met Kristanna Loken, I'd probably be a blubbering fool. Not because I'm a
fan of her “work”, but because she's damn fine!
And speaking of Kristanna, I don't blame her for acting in horrible movies. Hey, it's a paycheck.
I'd only blame her if she was an established actress with a great CV, who THEN decided to do
these kind of movies. Since she starred in T3, I can't say that she's been in anything really great,
so I can understand why she does what she does.

Yeah, the interview? I think she had the hots for you, Spoony! Or at least you were the one she
preferred out of the two of you.
No offense, but Linkara looked a bit like a smiling perv here, so perhaps it's not so strange
if she looked the other way…
She seems really nice, though. And she has a man's voice!

    • Guest

and she likes woman now so yeah!

Damn you Uwe Boll for making your retarded movies in my country and stealing our dogs !

I was at that con, did not see you guys though. Then again a nerd convention is the only place a man can walk around dressed like a mad scientist and no one bats an eye. I remember that stupid Rowdy Roddy Piper game thing, I was there for a good 3-4 hours and I don’t remember the bastard showing up to play. I kept checking, just to be part of the peanut gallery but he never showed up.

Any plans on coming to this years CCC?

This isn’t nearly as bad as you think it is, Spoony. I’ve never talked to a film star but I have met my favorite comic artists and one of my favorite authors, and I understand how dumbfounded you can feel when talking to a celebrity. Even if that celebrity is associated with the dreaded Uwe Boll, she’s still a celebrity, and you still get that sense of complete shock. That plus the fact that you were not prepared, at all. So this really isn’t that bad an interview.

And anyway, when you said you conducted this interview dressed as Dr. Insano, I was thinking that you’d kept the goggles or even done the voice, too. At least you didn’t do that. Conducting an interview in a lab coat isn’t the worst that could happen, and I thought you and Linkara were relatively diplomatic (although the back-pedaling was beautiful, I must say).

Hopefully you guy will be able to do another celebrity interview soon.

The interview itself was painFULLy bad, but your commentary about the interview is just hilarious. It's hard to watch the interview scenes after your setup of how you did it on a whim and how its probably going to be a train wreck wating to happen. Still your commentary was comedy gold. Great vid.

Damn, I'd forgotten how lovely Kristanna is. Her smile at the camera at the beginning of the interview was…

    …what was I talking about?

Anyway, loved how you left Linkara just hanging there when when she called him out on if he was an Uwe fan. Especially after he had been threatening you with not screwing things up. :p

  • http://twitter.com/hamsterpunch hamster

actually you can see the point ,when things go south .

spoony is introducing himself , kristanna and linkara everyone is smiling ….then spoony mentions bloodrain and dungeon seige and at

18:22 you can see her face tense up and her eyes kinda glare from then own she is trying to figure what you two's angle are you coming from “are they gonna screw with me?” “and rag on boll”

    at

18:27 she's listens to linkara question what are you doing recently to note

    18:39
begins to describe “in detail” her 4-5 films but half hearted because she knows “you guys don't really care” …she's waiting for the uweboll question.

19:01 she's looking smug at linkara and he blurts out “uwe boll” so she calls him out ,,because she knows where he stands on that subject …and she wishes he would just come out and say it or get out whatever grief maybe coming her way out in the open.
    …..

to be honest, i think if spoony and linkara would have just come out and be straight up with her you all would have enjoyed the experience more she seemed down to earth but sadly it just came across awkward.

i think she would get a kick out of the vlog though.

hopefully she will make a comment, it would be neat.

  • BadHatNZ

Yo, registered just to post this. :P

You mention a favourable interview with Uwe towards the end, and I'm pretty sure I knew which one you were talking about as soon as you said they talked over lunch -

  • Disthron

I have to say, that was a really cool story. And I think it was pretty awesome of her to do an interview, for free, on the spot. Makes me wish I had been there. I remember the other video from that convention where you were going around as Dr. Insaino.

  • Solitair

I've never been to any con, but I actually have met a sort-of celebrity. Kevin J. Anderson stopped by my college's bookstore to promote Paul of Dune, and I said hello to him. I think I was polite enough not to ask the question that was on my mind: Why are you still writing these books when every Dune fan wants to stab you with the Gom Jabbar? And why are you writing a midquel, of all things? It really just seemed like he and Brian Herbert were padding out a series that they'd already finished.

Oh, and Chelsea Clinton stopped by campus to promote her mother's campaign, but I didn't see her then.

Anyway, I think it's great that you did your best to smooth things over with Kristanna. I've noticed that you seem preoccupied with manliness on occasion, mostly to berate characters or other men for being pussies and such. You've also idly threatened violence on people who piss you off, like saying you'd scissor-kick anyone who said “You're in my way, sir” in real life. I kinda knew that this was just blustering and you'd never actually do anything like that, but it was kind of a relief to see you act civil toward someone who contributed to an Uwe Boll film.

Now let's see if you can do the same with Michael Bay.

P.S.: You're playing Pokemon? I never would have predicted that. Also, when I first saw the “You're in my way, sir” bit, I immediately thought that this would be how I would introduce myself to you in real life.

  • thatguywiththestomabag

This is actually a really helpful video Spoony.
It'll help me to do a proper interview with William Shatner at this years London Comic Con in July.

  • zenithl

“Everyone, I just got back from out of state…”

Every time I play this video, I always thought you were saying “I just got back from outer space”, which for some reason would not surprise me. (ducks)

  • icewinds

Hey Spoony, to be honest, I'm surprised how you overrate Hollywood stars, specially a shitty movie star. I know that she is hot and cute, and she even looks clever and everything. But man, so what? Just because someone appears in movies does it means there is some kind of mystic thing about this person? I don't get it, really. I think you are showing, not in the interview but in this very vlog, how you overrate and over respect these celebrities.

I kinda find curious how opened for conversation she was with you guys, especially with you, so I understand, how you may have felt like an idiot dressed like you was and asking moron questions. And not during the interview you could just have told her that you was dressed in a character. But come on man, you don't need to be so polite, I mean to be so careful about asking her what you really want to know. You can have a lot of care talking to her or not, and probably you still will be just someone that she probably doesn't give a fuck. In one point I agree with you, you got no balls in this day, dude, I mean, like I said she was being cool with you guys, and you was scared like a baby. You could had just talked her, exchange some thoughts, you know. If she was opened to chat, why not? So basically if you act like you are less than her, you will be. In the end she is just a girl. And come on, you are the spoony one, you are not a no one.

I can't believe you didn't asked her number, or asked her out for a coffee. lol I would not lose this chance.

  • http://twitter.com/CastaliaMoirae CastaliaMoirae

Dear lord that was almost impossible to watch. Not because it wasn't funny (your commentary made it all worth it) but because that woman was after your and Linkara's blood. If she said she was up for it, she shouldn't get defensive over a guy she knows most people dislike. You did well to keep things from going pear shaped. I almost think she actually wanted them too.

Also, Linkara's look of terror: priceless.

I was there that weekend I recognized Spoony, Linkara and Bargov in the artist alley. I remember bringing you guys to my friends booth who drew everything as a Hello Kitty, and Spoony said “Oh my that sounds deliciously evil” That made my con right there,

  • Charles218

Then again, for most guys talking to a girl is the hardest thing to do next to cutting off your pinky finger.

  • penisenvy

I think it's interesting how she says that he “puts out more movies every year than any director” in DEFENSE of him. If anything, that would generally be a pretty good indicator of the quality of the movies.

  • AggsOfSpades

I gotta admit the thought of Linkara schmoozing his way to the front of the lines to talk to celebrities is awesome. Also, I can see why she wasn't feeling it. Odds were that she did not want to focus on her time with Boll, but that just makes it weird because she agreed to the interview.

  • r3verend

Well, the pinky finger is the source of our power! :(((

  • ieatsupermutants

I would have been just as scared shitless as you and Linkara were.
I'd probably have made an ass outta myself by saying something stupid like “I've seen your boobs ~drool~”

Seriously though you conducted yourself better than most would have being totally unprepared as you were. It coulda been worse. The question being is what would you have said if you were more prepared?

  • alexhedges

Hahaha, at least Linkara was there to take half the shame for you spoony!

  • SlyDeathsHead

Man, you really saved Linkara's ass there. Ha ha, that was so awkward.

  • Redmess

You can actually filter out a lot of that kind of background drone (1000 heads talking in the background and stuff like that) with a program like Audacity. Just filter out low frequencies and dampen parts between speech for the whole track and it gets a lot better.

Hiring prostitutes to play prostitutes? That’s the best, and most illegal, idea I’ve ever heard.

“Look how excited he is”…were you staring at Loken’s boobs?

  • http://twitter.com/Spokavriel Daniel Thomas Stack

Ok Noah there are a few more things you did wrong that you might not have realized. #1 Hard surfaces reflect sound. So being close to a large wall will amplify all the floor noise at you EVERY time. #2 microphones I know you were not planning on doing this but in the future if you even think there might be a chance for an interview have additional microphones so that even if you cannot hear each other you can have a relatively clear recording of responses for the finished produced video. And lastly if you are going to do the interview for a review where you would be reviewing the video in character also do the interview in character. Just explain it calmly to the interviewee first.

Things you can do on location for a better interview.

    1) Have a cloth you can hang behind you, either on tripods or even just taped to a wall, it will dampen sound reflection and give you a more photogenic backdrop.

    2) If you can afford it get some radio microphones and recorders for at least 1 more than everyone in the group that would be expected to take part in videos. That way you can have even clearer personal sound captured for remixing if needed.

    3) Make sure that people conducing an interview at least know what would be asked about before talking with the manager.

This was a great interview for how you more or less were punked into doing it by your friends at Channel Awesome. But it could have been better.

  • Darth_Dinobot

its funny to see you guys knowing that you are way in over your head. Still you try to make the best of it :p i bet this will always be: Hey Louis Remeber that one time we tried to interview Kristanna Loken  on a dare :p just plain honest and funny :p
