Regarding Burton (7-21-07)

The Spoony One | Jul 21 2007 | more notation(s) |

In which I answer the burning question on three peoples’ minds: what’s up with the blue robot behind my chair?

I forgot to mention on the video the reason why the robots are named Burton, Morgan, and Sorbo. All of them are inside jokes from years back. Morgan is named after my future wife, Morgan Webb. Sorbo is a joke where several friends of mine have accused me of having a simmering man-crush on Hercules actor Kevin Sorbo, and Burton is named after Jack Burton, the driver of the Pork Chop Express from my favorite movie, Big Trouble in Little China.

If that robot shrivels away and dies in that corner of yours, he will never live again.

Hi, I´m from São Paulo – Brazil and just love your videos, they´re amazing and I laugh myself silly watching them.
I can´t believe you don´t have your own show like the AVGN or the Irate Gamer, just a matter of time, I hope!
    You rock Noah!

You are a creative person. I’ve been watching your videos lately but in some random order so basically I’ve started from the latest your entries and now I’m watching the whole history from the beginning. It’s a good idea going public by videomaking. You remind of a friend who encouraged me buying a camera. Since I love making videos myself, it’s always fun to learn (or rip off ;D) something from other cool videomakers. I really like your reviews yet I do not always agree to them. Who knows maybe one day I’ll start making reviews myself because City Internactive annoys me so much I’d rip them into pieces. Playing something from City Interactive is like playing Owe Boll as a PC game xD I worked hard one summer to get the camera but now it practically lies beneath the dust. It would be a good time to change it ;) I guess you encouraged me to do something good ;) I’ll comment more in the future since now I’m sick and tired. Usually I have much stuff to do (I’m studying hard in Vilnius University) but now’s Easter, the weather outside is superb and I have plenty of time to spend at home. Have a good one, Noah!

Have you thought about returning to any of your ideas since joing the That Guy With the Glasses group? I know we’ve seen the combined efforts of most of you with the Dr. Insano/Linkara episodes, as well as Spooning with Spoony, and while those were mostly one time things, you do have a capable group there, that includes geeks, gamers, and puppeteers. It would be awesome to be able to see more collaboration between you, and something like that would be the perfect reason to get all of you together.

Two things Spoony: 1. If I lived ANYWHERE near you, I would devote my life to making the Mystery Spoony Threater 3000 idea live, but I don’t, and 2. Check out this awesome idea for the store: Burton Plushies! I want my own Burton, he’s awesome!

Dude, Sorbo, Why don’t you put a ring around that mid section, mount the arms to it and cut a slot in the back so the arm ring slides up and down the body! Damn I wish i lived near you, i would so totally help. XP

I would totally help you out with that mystery science theater thing if I lived closer to your area. Damn New Mexico being in the way. :P Straker stole my idea on how to add arms to Sorbo but I think I could contribute on the artistic part. I'm pretty good at creating sets at least on a miniature scale, maybe even voice acting if you needed a female voice for one of the robots. XD

  • rudy023

I would offer to help you do a Mystery Science Theatre thing like a lot of these other posters, but I'm pretty lazy, so I would offer to watch!

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/JSlayez JSlayes

I would love to see you, Nostalgia Critic, and Linkara do a Riff Theater Video together of the worst Public Domain Movie you guys can find that would be awesome.

I think with how successful channel awesome has become and the relationship you have with other reviewers such as angry joe, the snob, and tgwtg I bet they would be all over something like this!! It would also give you an excuse to do another spooning with spoony….

Spoony, I’d help you with that. I heard you live in AZ and I’m in Mesa. Let me know if your still doing it.

  • Jeremy Lee

Morgan Webb, yeah good luck with that bro.

    • Simoneer

What’s this? A metalhead who cannot spell “Megadeth”?!

In all seriousness, though, why do you feel you can speak on the behalf of millions? I really don’t get it.

  • mark hurdiss

I would so totally help… if i could some how leave a portal gun portal in the states and one here in Yorkshire! Alas there are no portal guns any more :(

I know this was only a  little bit at the end, but I’d love to recommend a  Old West kinda game… Deadlands! It’s a steam-punky supernatural kind of old west, but it’s really good and a lot of fun! Highly recommend it

  • Kassie Boyd

My bother and I would be all for that if we lived in your area. We like MST3K and we’ve talked about doing a review show several times. I’m not all that funny, mostly blunt and sarcastic, but I think you and my brother would make a great team to rift on some old movies. :D

Ah well, we can only dream. Maybe one day sir, one day.

  • Segatron

Another suggestion for sorbo, use the neck joint to hang some sort of harness that hangs down just enough to give the arm joints purchase, Maybe a piece of pvc tube with strategic slots and holes cut into it, so when viewed it looks less like an external item, and more like the usual segmented shells, gadgety bits common to robots like R2D2 and Dalek casings

GOD I WISH I KNEW OF SPOONY IN 2007! I would love to do an MST3K spoof! Bad movies make the world go ’round and MST3K made it tolerable.

  • http://twitter.com/plastikloeffel El K

I would kill to see that!
    mst3k was awesome,
Hopefully one day he will go back to this idea and actually do it! =D

  • Garmrspor

Man… Been several years since I last heard the term “fanvid” (not counting the usage in this video). I recall that being used all the time on YouTube whenever something had to do with existing media.

  • Garmrspor

    !

I never noticed! At 0:52 you can see the poster for the 2005 Call of Cthulhu silent film. Good movie, excellent poster.
